Hello everyone! We applied for AOS at the end of April. Still no updates there (other than it was delivered) I got my Social security card back in 2022 when I was here through W&T program. But since we got married I changed my name. Can I change my SScard now with my new last name on it? or do they issue me a replacement when I get my work permit? It is very frustrating and seems like I'm stuck, because I have no documents with my new legal name. I'd appreciate all of your answers and advices! Thank you

April 2024 - AOS Filers
JaneStaark replied to Cisse913's topic in Adjustment of Status Case Filing and Progress Reports
hey! does anybody have an updates? We applied on April 23d and it was delivered by April 26th and no updates since then. the check didn't cash out yet. I know all we can do is wait, but I don't want to end up "out of status" -
Hello everyone! We're finally filling the papers for AOS! I found answers for some of my questions, but still have more😅 I legally changed my last name to my husband's last name. So I list it on all the forms as my current legal name. Should I sign all the forms with my "new signature" (with my new current last name)? Will it be legit? Thank you for help!

Hi! I was in the same situation (my parents were not married by the time when I was born), so I have an adoption papers too. I listed my moms last name in the petition too. With the I-129F petition you don't need to professionally translate this documents. I did it all by myself and just add another paper said that I have enough knowledge and abilities to translate it and that says in this papers is true. (did it for my birth certificate and adoption papers). But later for the interview you need to bring the certified translated copies of those papers. That what I did. I think you can provide your own translation for this evidence too

Which one I need to do next?
JaneStaark replied to Gabriela Gaghana's topic in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures
I would recommend you to pay fee and schedule the interview first. So after you'll know the exact day of your interview you can make an appointment for med exam closer to your interview day. (I did my med exam 3 days prior my interview and all went fine) -
Hi everyone! I received my passport with my K-1 visa and an envelope yesterday. But I also got some further instructions that said that they recommend me to get "Permission for Permanent Residence Abroad" while I'm still in my home country. This paper would take me almost another month to get done..and I planned to go in the middle of March. But if it would cause me problems later, I would rather wait and do it now. Maybe somebody had experience with that too? And do I absolutely need it? Or I can do it later through my Embassy in US?

Ds 160 question
JaneStaark replied to ElizabethMh's topic in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports
It's valid for 30 days since you start to put your info in it. So you have 30 days to complete it and send. If not, it'll expire and you have to fill a completely new one. You can start it whenever you want, but without DS-160 you'll not be able to schedule your interview (cuz you need the DS form number) -
Question Concerning Visa
JaneStaark replied to Zed01203's topic in What Visa Do I Need - Family Based Immigration
you just need to read more info about K-1 and K-3 visas. there are specific requirements for each of them. based on info you provided, you might do it either way. Fiancé visa required at least 1 personal visit within 2 years, but also if you could prove that it would be impossible because of the religious beliefs, you would be fine. Otherwise Spouse visa make some more sense (in my not professional opinion only), because of your religion and it gives you more “space” with immigration process. -
K1 visa wait times 2023
JaneStaark replied to BizzyBee's topic in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports
Hey! You probably meant NOA2? since you already got NOA1 (that they received your petition). But yeah, no worries, you just need to wait now. You also can check the updates on your case at USCIS website (my fiance did it for us, so I'm not sure how it all works) -
Apostle for police certificate
JaneStaark replied to JaneStaark's topic in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures
okay, thanks -
Hello everyone! I’ve read a lot about this, but couldn’t find the answer. I currently prepare all the documents for visa and still not sure do I need the apostle on my police certificates or not. I read here that apostle needed the you want to use certificate in the country where you go. But does It a requirement for K-1 visa? Maybe somebody had resent experience with the Embassy in Kazakhstan?

Hello everyone! I read a lot of topics and comments here. They're very helpful. Didn't find much information about this small detail, so hope you'll help me. We received our NOA2 in the mailbox on Dec.12 (idk what took them so long to send it, cuz the date of approval is Dec. 1) It says that our case will be at NVC from now and we would get case number. Question is how we'll receive this case number? Email or actual letter? Found some comments that people called them to get this number. And after we get it, where can we track the case progress?
