Awww... I'm so sorry!!! This is just the worst scenario ever... well, at least a really bad one! I wish that I could say that you will be alright. But I really can't, cuz there is probable not much anyone can do about this. They changed the interview date for some unknown reason and I don't think they will "change it back". But you have to try to talk to them, make them change the interview date back to the original one. It might work if you call them up again!? Don't give up!
Good luck!
I've never posted before but have been gratefully following advice on here since before we even filed for the fiance visa. And everything has gone very smoothly...until today. The consulate in Rio called my fiance in Brazil and told him they were sorry, but that they would not longer be able to have his scheduled interview on January 6th and needed to move it to January 7th. They refused to tell him why. We have had this interview date scheduled since the first week of November, and have both made plans to travel to Rio so we can be at the interview together. My flight to come back to the US leaves the evening of the 6th, his flight back home to Salvador leaves the morning of the 7th. We both spent considerable money on our travel plans (if you can imagine how expensive it is to fly from New York in the dead of winter to Rio for Reveillon...well, yeah, it cost a lot) and have non-refundable tickets. We did everything right - we had confirmation in writing, reconfirmed via email, had every reasonable assurance that the interview would occur on the 6th and now they call us the week before Christmas with this news.Is there anything I can do as the USC? The woman at the consulate who spoke to my fiance (she was a native Portuguese speaker so there was no chance that anything was misconstrued) said we shouldn't worry, I don't need to be at the consulate with him, etc....but that's not the point! I really WANT to be there with him. And certainly he needs to be there! We planned our entire holiday season around this interview...for nothing, it seems.
We are not made of money - this process has cost us a lot, as has planning for a wedding and for the fact that he won't be able to work for a while. It's like they don't understand that people have lives and jobs outside of this process - except they certainly care about the money those jobs provide when it comes to making decisions about our future.
Sorry, this turned into a bit of rant, but I'm just so frustrated!!! Any suggestions would be really helpful, particularly as they apply to the Rio consulate.

i flew to be with my fiance at his upcoming interview.it is dec.14.the consulate requested i come speak with him prior to the interview.i was grilled by 7 men for 2 hrs about our relationship.although we have basically lived together for the last seven months.if your relationship is called into question be prepared with evidence as much evidence as possible.i am a us citizen and i scared me silly.i felt like i was on trial.now we must both go to his interveiw and go thru this all again.but i have so much proof that i dont think we will have a problem.600 pictures, airplane tickets, reciept for every sightseeing trip or hotel stay, letters from friends and family.be prepared people ,they even asked if my fiance offer me money to marry him.good luck to u all.i pray each night for all here and i ask you all say a prayer for us on dec.14.
I'm so sorry for you! I would had been scared to death if that was me!! I have no doubts that it had to do with the fact that your guy is an Iraqi, (living in Sweden.) I don't know what to say.... It's just so... wow...
Hopefully this wont happen to me, cuz I know I will start to cry.... or pee my pants....! I'm a blonde, green eyed Swede though.. I guess nothing like this will happen to me!
Good luck Bridget and Alen!!!

I live down the road from PCB. Back in the day it was a rather typical fishing town with the AF (Tyndall AFB) thrown in. Translation, nice town with everything tourists look for and strip clubs for the AF guys. In the 80's it underwent a transformation and was "discovered" by Girls Gone Wild and a gazillion college kids. It is now one of the largest spring break destinations in the county and features one of (I have heard it advertised as "the largest") night clubs in the world, Club le Vela (Vila?). It is typical most of the year as a Florida coast resort town but during spring break and the summer months it turns into a rental town where people throw their litter out the windows and pee in public etc. I think you get the point. A couple of miles away is Panama City (no beach). Much more laid back and reserved with a fraction of the problems. Short story is the beach makes the difference. If you want to live on it be prepared to deal with tourists, drunk children and hurricane storm surge. Live a few short miles off the beach and generally all is good. JMHO...
Thank you! That's what I thought too...(college kids going out of control etc etc.....) Actually my husband and I spoke about this last night. And we made the decision not to move there! He will pass on the job offer. The beach looked nice but that was all. Ha, ha..... Panama City is NOT NYC!(where my husband's from.)
Thanks again!

My husband might get a job in Panama City, Florida. I don't know anything about this city.... I did google this place, but there wasn't much info out there.... at least nothing relevant for someone who is possible moving there! Is there anybody here on VJ that have anything to say about Panama City? Good or bad! I really would like to know where to live and where not to....(rent an apartment or a house.)
Any information will be much appreciated!

It's not a communicable disease, so you will be fine. They may look a bit closer at the petitioner's financial situation due to the medical bills that will inevitably come up, but other than that, no hinderance to visa.
The sponsorship requirements remain the same...though if the petitioner(alone) is only barely able to fulfill those requirements, a co-sponsor should be lined up...just in case.
Ohh... I see. OK, I guess I will have to get a co-sponsor just in case. You never know if they will ask for one.... Thanks for your reply!

I'm trying to find out if a person that have been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia will be denied a visa because of that? Anybody heard of a case like that?(we haven't filed for the visa yet...)

Hello everyone!
Me and my fiancee has a question.
In the affidavit of support you have to state that you are capable of supporting the benificiary (kind of)
But how much do you have to earn? And is it based on yearly income or yearly income AFTER debts in short, what you bring in.
My fiancee is confused and so am i.
Every answer is cherished.
Thank you all!
Fred n Erika
It is based on the number of people in your household. You must earn enough to support your household or you would need a co-sponsor. Look at the guidelines. Good luck on your journey.
Yeah thank you, but we were wondering if its the yearly income number or the yearly income AFTER rent and debts etc thats gonna count. Cuz shes just one in her household, two with me.
Well, what you have to make is the amount listed on the poverty guidelines. (Per year.) :-)

I have applied on-line for my ESTA and was approved and sent my application number.
What I need to know is should I have any paperwork with me when I get to the airport or will it be picked up when my passport is electronically read?
I will take a note of my application number as a just in case but would appreciate it if anybody can tell me if they have traveling using their ESTA?
Thanks.
Pauline
Hi.... I guess you should bring a print out of the approved ESTA application or at least, write down the application number.... They can still deny you entry to the US. Probable not, but if the officer happens to have a "bad day" anything is possible.... But you should not worry! I'm 99% sure they will let you into the country.(unless you lied on any of the ESTA application q's....)
Good luck!

Hi all,
I am applying for my wife's IR-1/CR-1, and have some questions on the DS-230 form.
Question 10 asks about the permanent address in the US where the applicant intends to live, can I put my current residence address, and are we free to move later on?
Yep.
You can find the info regarding that on one of the forms, don't remember which one....(My husband is going to file for a IR-1/CR-1 soon so I have read all the documents required for this type of visa)
-
Why even post this, you know your priorities. After five years of dealing with the USCIS, our first priority was to get them off of our backs so we could live a free and normal life only dealing with the IRS, DNR, EPA, and other government agencies. If my wife's oath ceremony was scheduled in Timbuktu at 3:00 AM in the morning, we would have been there.
We have considered quitting our jobs and going on welfare to get the IRS off our backs but still have this need to buy stuff that we don't need and gives us nothing but problems.
You are so right...... I just can't believe how anyone would consider to reschedule the oath ceremony for a BABY SHOWER! I'm sorry this is just too funny....

Hi guys, I wanted to know if i have an address in the US, and a US bank account and a State ID, do i have to stay in the US, the whole time that I'm applying for the CR-1 visa for my wife. I was thinking, that I would apply for her then I could leave the US and go back to the country she's in and stay there a while, for example a period of 5 months or so. Then come back to the US a few months before she's expected to come. I'm using a co-sponsor, and after the i-130 form would be approved, I could have my sister send all the paper work required at that time to NVC by mail, since she would remain in the US. Does anyone know if this is fine? That the sponsor leaves the US for a couple of months while waiting on the Visa to come out?? I mean i think it should be no problem, that the US citizen leaves the country right?? Just that the Inteding immigrant is not allowed to enter the country while their visa is being processed, if anyone has any answers let me know thank you very much for your help.
I was wondering the same thing last night.... Well it was not suppose to be a problem, as long as you have a US bank account, an apartment etc. So you should be good to go! I found that info online. Don't remember if I got the link from VJ or if it was on google.... Well you should be able to find it!

You may wish to check here http://www.visajourney.com/reviews/ for AOS interview questions and experience.
Click on "Select Local Office" and choose San Diego, CA, then click find entries.
thanks guys,
I am trying to stay as calm as possible, but I am a nervous person.
Gotta keep reminding myself that everything will be o.k. and marriage is legit and we have nothing to hide.
That's the way to go!
I am a nervous person too, but you got to try to keep calm on a time like this. You will be just fine Ok!? Good luck!

Me and my wife have our interview this Thurs. here in San Diego, CA
We have all of our docs in order and I think that we are ready to go.
2 things:
Me and my wife have been married since '06 but we are just now getting around to filling her docs, because of $$. Do y'all think that because we waited so long this will cause a problem?
What are some general questions we may be asked I know this one differs from case to case, but I u remember any questions for your interview please let me know.
Thanks again!!!!
Why would this be a problem? :-) Try to relax. You have the answers to those questions, if asked at the interview. There is no reason for you to be nervous about your upcoming interview, at least not more than anyone else would be.... Everything will go great as long as your relationship is based on love and not just a G C ticket.... So you have to come down and tell yourself you are going to be just f-i-n-e!
Good luck!

We do not have kids yet, but I've been thinking about this a lot lately....(I want to have babies soon!) ;-)
We will probable speak English and Spanish at home when the kids are little. But I will try to teach them Swedish as soon as they are bi-lingual. Don't want to confuse them too much! (I will definitely not speak English all the time... so I'm they will sure know how to say simple words and sentences in Swedish at a young age.)

Thanks a lot for your answers!
Well, he said he can't add me to his health insurance etc yet because he needs to put in my social security number, but of course i dont have one yet!
he lives and works on base, he is in school of infantry so he had to live there so far...
we dont live together yet because like i said he lives on base and i thought id be going back to germany in april... but then we got married and i planned on getting my travel document/advanced parole to visit my parents and take care of everything back in germany for a few weeks, then come back to the states and get an apartment together with him.
well but what address do i insert for me, for example on form i-485 or i-131? because i dont live on base, so i cant put in this, and im jsut staying at some friends at the moment so thats probably not the right address either...po box is probably not enough?
About the health insurance for military spouses... well until you have a American SSN, it might not be that easy to put you on his. The same goes for the paychecks. (make more when married) This is what happened to me and my husband last year: He (husband) was deployed to Iraq in September. We had been married for 1 year at the time so he wanted to put me on his "records" for the USMC. But.... cuz I am not American and do not have a SSN, it was not a very good idea to do so.... He was told that he (might) would had to pay back some of the Iraq money once he was back in the US. All this cuz of some stupid rule that says the spouse has to be an American citizen.(cuz they make more when they are married plus no tax on the paycheck) What I could get was the military spouse ID, but I don't need that....
So what you should do now is try to get "as much things as you can" with his and your name on it. Military spouse ID, an apartment as soon as you can... some banks allow foreign spouses for joint accounts. Get that if possible! Well anything you can think of. :-) About the PO box.... You can put that as the address where you want your documents to be delivered to. Don't know how the other stuff works though.... But you came to the right place, someone has the answers to your q's! Good luck!

Good morning!
This is my situation: I'm from Germany and came to the states last year as a student. During this time i met my boyfriend, but I had to leave for Germany in December. I planned on going back to college in Germany for the spring semester, but they but me on the waiting list for the fall semester. So I had a lot of time left till the semester starts and decided to go back to the States for 3 months as a tourist too spend as much time as possible. Well then one thing came to another, me and my boyfriend got closer every day and then he proposed. We got married and couldnt be happier
But now all the paperwork starts...
In a lot of forms they ask for my address, which address should i submit? The one in Germany, because this is still my residency? Here in the States, I just live with friends at the moment, because my husband is in the Marine Corps and has to live on base where he shares a room with a bunch of other guys. Or can i indicate my PO Box here in the states? I wanted to get all the paperwork done, get my advanced parole, then go back to germany for a few weeks to visit my parents and to manage everything, then come back to the States and get an apartment with my baby.
Also, we don't really have any joint leases, bank accounts, finances, or anything like that, i mean we are really young and didn't really plan on living together before...Are pictures, letteres and evidence from friends enough to proof our marriage and that it is ongoing? Umm, that is all so difficult, hope someone can help!! Thank you & have a great day!
Welcome to VJ!
Does your husband have a address outside the base?(I guess not) ;-) Is he in boot camp or is he living and working at the base?(My husband is a Marine too) If your husband doesn't have a "real" address, put the address to the base. Cuz that is where he is living at the time.... You will be able to change the address later if things change....

I had no idea where to post this moderaters, let me apologize if it is in the wrong place.
My fiancee told me that he did not turn in his i-94 on his return trip in January. He says they did not collect them, I have no idea if they did or not. I am worried that it will look like he did not leave the country, and that would put him into what looks like an overstay. Does anyone have any idea how to fix this?
OK.... Well I guess you should check this up, you don't want to be sorry later.... BUT this happened to me once before. I think it was my first time ever in the US... I still had the I-94 when I got back home..... But they SHOULD collect this before letting the "alien" leave the US. They probable already know that your fiancee already left though. So you shouldn't worry too much! :-)
-
My visa waiver(I-94) was approved last year and is valid for another 18 months or so... The thing is that I need to change a few things(address where I am going to stay and destination in the US) Well... I lost the application number (I lost it when I moved to my new apartment) I haven't found anything about this on the ESTA site or any other site. It just says that I will need this number to make changes..... Do'h. What to do? I guess I can't book a flight to NY, since the application says my final destination is Los Angeles...? Help is much appreciated!

planning and "personal space," which whites seem to love...
besides that she is crazy about me, ohhh yeah B)
You are so right! lol
My husband doesn't know what "personal space" is and we used to have arguments about that, well not arguments... but he didn't understand WHY on earth I would need something like that... ha ha.... And I also like to plan things(vacation etc)My husband never plan anything. Well at least that's how he used to be... He have changed his ways and so have I... Things are going great, now that we really know each other and understand each other....

Still waiting on a interview date what should I wear to my Visa interview I am so undecided on what to wear.
You shouldn't think too much about it!
Just wear something nice that you feel comfortable in.(you don't want to wear a itchy shirt or something that you don't like!) I wouldn't wear jeans and a tee though. But I'm sure a lot of people wear that to their interview... (I know that some people wear a suit and tie.)
Good luck!

Hi
I am interested to know what exactly to do about the engagement ring, because i proposed to my Fiance through online now shall i send it to her through FedEx or just wait for her to get here or the U.S Embassy will ask her on her interview why shes not wearing her engagement ring? Is that a big deal if shes not having it? Any suggestion i will appreciate it. Thanks in advance.
Paul
Does she really need it ASAP? I mean, you're already engaged...
Can't she just get it prior to the Interview? You're not going to see her before the interview? I've read posts on VJ where the OP said it was not a problem she/he didn't have the ring yet. Some people even take them off cuz the embassy is in a unsafe area of the city(robbery). She can def. go to the interview without the ring! It's not like they don't know you two met online....

You are NOT alone!
I'm also in a loooong distance relationship(It's going to be 4 years in 2010) Trust me, I know how you feel!
It's not easy.... but I like to think about it this way: Every day that goes by is one day closer to what we have wanted for so long. No matter how long it will take, it will always be one day closer.... (at least this helps a little!)
Skype video calls is also helping me getting thru the day... specially those days when everything feels so hopeless....
Our turn will come someday! That's all we know right now. Hang in there til' that happens! And remember that you're not alone. There's thousands out there with same wish, being together with the one they love....
Enjoy your stay in Venezuela and do not forget to enjoy your husband too!!!
