Well this is what I found on FAQ's on the U.S. Embassy website(STOCKHOLM)...
"Q: I’d like to apply for a non-immigrant visa, file an application for returning resident status, obtain a travel letter because I lost my green card, apply for parole into the United States, apply as a follow-to-join refugees or asylee, or renounce my U.S. lawful permanent residence status. Must I travel to Stockholm for these services?
"A: No, the services listed in this question will continue to be carried out by the Embassies in Oslo or Copenhagen."
But... the K-1 is also listed under immigrant visas! I'm confused...
-
To my neighbors swedish people, I have been in Stockholm only once 7-8 years ago. So can you tell me which airport in Stockholm is the closest/most convenient to get to the US Embassy?
thanks
Wait a minute... I thought that the K1 visas are still being processed in Copenhagen? K-1 is not an immigrant visa, is it?

Bromma is the name of the airport closest to the embassy. (I'm not sure if there are any flights from Copenhagen to Bromma)
Arlanda airport is the major airport in Stockholm with many flights to choose from. It is very easy to get from Arlanda to Stockholm city!

We have booked tickets for Dec. 29th. I just hope the postal service gets my visa to me before then
The plan is to celebrate New Years with my husband's family. I can't wait!
I'm sure you will receive the visa within the next few days! I so envy you!! I wish I was able to go home for the holidays...
Have a great New Years with your husband and inlaws!
-
Congratualtions!! I figured it was you that was there
Yes, it was very easy! Took us 5 minutes too. She barely asked any questions and was very nice. Have you made any travel plans?
Thank's!
I wasn't asked many q's either... It was more like a chit chat between two acquaintances.
I wont be going to the U.S. until January. (I have work to finish etc) How about you? Are you going home for Christmas?
-
Congrats!!!
I was also approved! It sure was an "easy" interview in Stockholm yesterday. (My interview took about 5-7 minutes...) A great day that I will remember forever!
I'm sure you feel the same!
Merry Christmas!

You can call the AVR at NVC and it states "Your case was completed on. Oct 27."
Good luck at the interview
Actually, my case is one of the few that isn't available through the AVR. We have to press 5 every single time! So frustrating...
Thank you!
I so hope that you will get your interview date soon!!!
-
Congrats!! and do not forget to put you case complete at NVC in your timeline on your profile.
I'm actually not sure WHEN my case was completed. Possible some time around October 22 (operator said that our file wasn't in the system yet, please allow 20 days... blah, blah...)
I sent an email to NVCinquiry@state.gov on October 24th, asking if they could tell me anything about my case status?
I received a reply on October 27th "Your inquiry has been received at the National Visa Center (NVC). All documentation necessary to complete the National Visa Center's processing has been received. As soon as an interview date has been scheduled, the designated representative of this case (applicant, petitioner, or attorney) will be notified. The US Embassy or Consulate General may require additional documentation at the time of the interview."
So, I guess I should put "CC" October 27th...
-
I guess I'll see you there
Yep. See you there!
-
Ahhhhhhhhh got my interview date! Dec21st!!!! I'm in the car right now about to get in a huge accident.
I read your post and decided to call the NVC... OMG!!! They actually gave me my interview appointment! Stockholm embassy December 13th.
This is the best day in a long time!
-
I spoke with an NVC operator, who told me that NVC received our case on September 12, four days after petition approval. She also told me, though, that it would take 23 days from the date of receipt for them to enter the case into their system and generate a number. Does it really take that long to generate a case number? Based on previous threads, I gathered that around July 2011, it was taking CSC a month to send approved petitions to NVC. But I've always thought that once NVC receives a case, it's entered into their system immediately. So I'm confused about the 23-day wait. Oh, and I'm also majorly disappointed!
My I-130 was approved on JULY 31, received at NVC on AUGUST 15(!) and I got my NVC case number just yesterday... (My service center was VSC) The backlog must be a major one!
We've been calling the NVC about 3 times a week, got a different answer every time... The day before I received the email with the case # and the invoice #, they had told my husband to "call back on Friday", something they have told us many times in these past 6 weeks! Well, we actually got a case number this time! Thank God!!!

Hi,
Do you have other things, like pictures and tickets, hotel receipts and so on? If you do, don't worry about the letter. I don't think a lot of people use letters as a proof of their bonafide marriage, at least not what I've seen here on VJ...(OK some people do, but most skip that part.)

I'm not going to give you any advices etc.(I'm sorry that you feel so bad right now tho!) Well, you wrote that it's expensive to call cellphones in Mexico... so that makes me wonder, is there a "Skype unlimited" to Mexico?(I guess not?) Cuz I have a subscription for that thing and I call "free" to the US from Sweden. Including Cellphones! I only pay about 5$ per month and it's awesome....
Good luck with everything!
Im worried sick to my stomach.....i honestly feel like i can't go on another day....its killing me...but i'll let you know the story first....I met my girl (from Mexico) online like roughly 8 months ago,...got married in December 26 of 2009.
Before we got together...we'd talked about "ex's"....and well im 28 and she's 30....she had an ex who was like 40 years old...and well....i guess he was married and supposedly she didnt know about it....although she "suspected it"....anywhos....she used to see him once every 2 weeks....him being from Monterrey and she being from Saltillo.....
So one day she went and visited him in Monterrey, and he never picked up his phone, etc, etc, etc....so long story short, she kinda got a feeling that "yeah, he's more than likely married" etc, etc.
Anyways....i dunno...the details of the relationship never made me feel comfortable because she never introduced him to her family after being together for almost a year and let alone her parents never knew anything about the relationship and all that....more like to me.....i kinda felt like it was a "casual sex" relationship...i dunno.....
Anywhos....bottom line is....i put it (the best i could) behind me,...although that 1 particular relationship just never made me feel comfortable....and well we got married on December 26 of 2009...she treats me really well...tells me she loves me, hugs me, kisses me..all that....I KNOW she's had ex boyfriends in the past,...i understand that...they were there for their time, it ended...etc, etc...but this one in particular with this guy just made me feel uncomfortable....still makes me feel uncomfortable to this day....(for obvious reasons)
Anyways....i phoned a friend down there....and he explained to me that this guy....after not talking to her for over a year.....is trying to get in contact with her again because he called her looking for her asking for her number (her other number she changed it, the old one) But from what my friend explained.....he told me that it sounded like he was very determined to get in contact with her because he wants to get back with her....
Now....i can't get mad at the ex,.....because he doesn't know she's married.....and i can't get mad at my wife....because she doesn't know he's trying to get in contact with her....but what happens if they do get in contact???.....im worried...really worried...
Im worried,...because i know they "had" a relationship....so they have a history....so it really worries me.....im here....she's there....and he's only a few hours away....and i know out of all her ex's...she liked him the most....
So what do i do????wait it out???.....HOW do i go about talking to her about this???....she tells me she loves me....she ses she'd never leave me for anyone....she ses she'd never cheat on me.....but this guy from the beginning has never made me feel comfortable...the relationship they had never made me feel comfortable period.
I really want to talk to her about it....but its hard because her house phone is cut off right now....she doesnt have access to the internet...and the only phone that is working is her cell phone,...and it costs ALOT to call a cell phone in Mexico...
Please help me....what do i do???...im worried....worried sick to my stomach....

You are definitely not alone.
My husband has been unemployed for the past 10 months....(and that's the reason I'm still in Sweden and not in NY!) I'm so sorry to hear that they want to cut your hours back! I really don't know what to say to make you feel better.... all I can tell you is that you're not alone.
Don't give up. Things will change for the better!
Hey all...Just need to vent a little. My hubby got his GC nearly a year ago-and he's had a really hard time finding a job. I think he's been employed maybe 3 months out of the past year.
I have an ok job-it's not great but it pays the bills-barely. Unfortunately, the stress of our lack of finances has really been getting to me, and it shows. They want to cut my hours back at work because they say I'm working too much. That's only going to make our situation worse.
Hubby started school this month-we were hoping that would make it easier for us down the road. He's been filling out apps like crazy just looking for something part time to help out. So far nothing.
The timing of everything isn't great-if we had known my hours were going to be cut, we would probably have considered moving to a whole new area, but now that he's in school...we really want to continue with that. We live in East Texas, not the most economically booming area. There hasn't been a ton of job loss here, but there has definitely been some. And few if any new jobs at all. My hubby is really smart and a very hard worker-but unfortunately around here, it's less about what you can do, and more about who you know.
We're pretty stressed out about it all and I'm really at a loss as to what to do next. I'm just about ready to start looking for a second job myself. i just want to know that it's not just us. We don't personally know any other people in our situation. All of my coworkers have jobs (obviously) as do their spouses. We don't really know anyone else around here. My family is 1500 miles away, and his at least twice as far.
Thanks for listening...K

Welcome to VJ!
You should read the guidelines and make your own opinion. I do believe the CR-1 is better in the long run though.....(cost less etc)
The K3 route will probable not get you to America faster(than the CR-1) Remember that each case is different though.....
Good luck!
Hello!I am Swedish and got married to my American husband in New York September 2009. I had to rush back to Sweden for a family emergency and now I wan to return as soon as possible. I was gonna apply for the K3 visa but as it seams on VJ, teh CR-1 is much better? and faster to?
I am all new here at VJ but have found so much comfort and reliefe so far... I really want to be able to go back to my husband as soon as possible, but we a re both very confused and don´t know what road to take. Please let me know whatever inforamtion or advice you may have about this, and your personal experience. What I should expect and what I can hope for without being unrealistic?
Good luck to all of you, and thank you for you respons and your answers!

Age is not a problem. As long as your wife make enough money to support you and you have a "real" marriage... no problem. Good luck!
Hi!Me (swedish citicen) and my wife (USC) just sent in out I-130 form. At this point we are both crossing our fingers and hoping for the best.
Lately i have been readin a lot about the process and that made me think and worry.
My question is:
The two of us only sent in our marriage certificate and and affidavit sworn by my mother in law. Will this be enough or will it cause us trouble. The reason for the lack of evidence is that we have never really lived together since we are both 19 years old.
This leads me to my other question, will our age be a problem ?!
// Worried
I also want to give a big thanks to all the helping people at this forum.
-
yeap me too!
So I'm not stupid after all! Yay!
-
It doesn't bother me. I just thought it was new and strange.
Yeah, it makes sense
But it's new.
I was like "what channel is this?"
I seriously thought that I had changed the channel by mistake.... But I guess not. It's a new trend.
-
Well.... Yeah, I've seen them too. I did think it was a bit unusual, but it's not something that bothers me......... Is it a new "trend" ? Don't know. You should call them up an ask!
Have any of you seen this before? I never noticed it till this evening. Consolidated Credit is advertising on regular English-language channels but the ads are in all Spanish. The only entirely-Spanish ads I've seen prior to this evening have been on Spanish channels. Is this some kind of new trend?
-
Good question! I'd like to know that too. Not that I'm pregnant, but just for the record.....
(Who knows what will happen.....)
My wife is a little more than 7 months pregnant and we are just starting the NVC process and I will submit the forms tomorrow. The DS-230 asks if we have kids which I assume as of right now the answer is technically no.
My question is, if I answer no on all the forms for having no kids and then they find out she is pregnant, or even if she has the baby
RIGHT before the interview, what would happen?
-
That will not be a problem. You don't need to worry! :-) I've purchased tickets for my husband many times and have done the same for me.... Works on all major airlines. Congrats to the visa!!!
My fiancee just recieved her VISA, and now I am going to purchase the plane ticket. The only thing that I worry about is buying a plane ticket and it will be in my name, and they will want to check my ID, and my CC to pick it up. How can I purchase it, and get it in her name so she can get it with no problems? Thanks ahead of time. -

Hi, Well It's up to the officer at your POE. Some are very nice and friendly, some not so..... I had a really hard time at EWR(Newark Airport) in September of last year. But I have met some very nice people too! I am married to a USC (since 2007) and I have visited him 8 or 9 times during the years.I had no trouble entering the US 50% of those times, but I always bring a lot of evidence "just in case". And that is something all of us should do. In your case you need to bring your work schedule etc that will prove that you are still working in Germany!(I do this every time I go.) Maybe you have some kind of lease/contract on a apartment that you can take with you?
(Note that I am married but I have not filed for a visa.)
Quote: Separation from family may be longer than if filing for a K-3 Visa (or K-1 visa for a non-married fiance). The applicant will most likely not be able to enter the US while their IR1-CR-1 Visa is being processed. What if i can prove that i still have a job here in germany? are the chances high that they will not allow me to visit my husband?

The answer to your question is simple. Your wife have to tell the truth. She will take an oath before the interview, where she swears to tell the truth. So... just tell the interviewer what you just wrote in this post...
I'm sure your wife will be just fine! Don't worry too much. It's not good for you!
Good luck!
