I printed mine on a home inkjet using 4x6" photo paper. I bought address labels, I think they were like 3x4" stickers and printed the date, location, and made comments on who was in the picture, what was happening, etc.
Those photos seemed to be fine as part of the documented proof of having met in 2-years as well as proof of our ongoing relationship.
We got our NOA2 and my wife passed her interview at the embassy.
Congrats on your wife passing her interview! I do agree with alot of these other posts, It doesnt matter as long as they can see the pictures, and that they represent a genuine relationship and that you will be able to provide them if need be for the interview.

Hey all,
I was just wondering if there were any other Canadians with fiance's in California that have applied for thier K1 Visa in March 2008 and are still waiting for their interview appointment? I have heard that some March 2008 applications have been approved, but was unsure about locations and if they play a roll in how long a visa takes to get processed? Im just curious to know if this timeframe is normal(march-sept)? I am going through a lawyer and their offices have contacted me saying that montreal consulate has received the infromation from the NVC, so Im just waiting on montreal now! Just wanted to reach out to my fellow Canadians that may be in the same boat as myself.

Ah, he likes parts and dislikes parts. He gets frustrated a lot and misses his friends. He's having trouble making friends here since he only cares about football (the real kind) and no one actually knows anything about it. But he has a lot more opportunities here than there. I think once he makes friends it'll go easier. We're going to move in a few years somewhere more international so hopefully that'll help. On the plus side, the weather is MUCH better and we're FAR away from his mom
They have a much better relationship 3000 miles apart...
Yup, as long as you are both legally able to marry (both over 18 so check!) then its a non-issue. We were pretty young when we filed (22 and 24) and my mom was our co-sponsor. I was living with them at the time and we were going to be living next door in an apt owned by them and there were no questions asked. As long as you can both be legally married when the non-USC gets here and there's someone taking financial responsibility for them, London is cool.Yes, we have studied all the guidelines and checklists repeatedly and marked down everything we need, hopefully I will be off to file for the visa and get the ball rolling very very soon! Waiting for my fiance in the UK to send his forms and evidence that we have met (he has plane tickets, luggage tags, photographs etc) and then we're all set! Very happy to hear that you were also fairly young, but successful nonetheless! Does your husband like living in the US?
It's such a relief knowing that there are other people applying for this visa that are similar to my age...because this was one of my concearns as well. My fiance and I are both going to be 22 next month, and will be living with his parents(they wil be our co-signers)as well. We have not encountered any problems thus far. Now we're anxiously awaiting for the date of my interview. Its also nice hearing the success stories of others! Best of luck with your visa process!

It can't hurt to begin collecting documents regarding your relationship with your fiance at this point, because you wil be needing them for your interview down the road.

I read in the guide that digital photos should be printed at a place like kodak but has anyone printed their own with a house printer? colored of course...
I've printed mine off of my photo printer I have at home, Im waiting for my interview appointment and have received my NOA2.

a question regarding proof of relationship.can pics, letters, money transfer receipt, chats and few emails are good enough as a proof of ongoing relationships?do you guys think she can use her friendster account as proof also because i left a lot of testimonials there also and it shows a pics of us too.
I provided pictures, airline ticket stubs, e-mails, cards&letters, phone logs/bills, and MSN messenger conversations with my fiance and my engagement ring recipt. Hope this information is helpful to you.
It is quite common for newbies to confuse evidence of meeting and evidence of an ongoing relationship. They are not the same thing. In all but cases with obvious red flags, there's no need for ongoing relationship evidence at the petition stage. The boarding passes and passport stamps are sufficient evidence of meeting within the past two years. All the other ongoing relationship evidence can be saved for the interview stage.
I understand that they are different, and I didnt confuse the two of them. I am going through a laywer and they required all the information together with the petition. Therefore I submitted everything, and kept coppies for myself to take with me when I attend the interview.
I was typing what I knew. Thanks for clearing things up though!

a question regarding proof of relationship.for example.emails and letters.does my fiancee
need to show the emails and letters that we sent each other?or the one i sent her only?
how about if most of the proof is after i apply for petition not before. can they question it
at the interview?just curious.
I provided e-mails, cards&letters, MSN messenger chat logs(between my fiance and I), phone logs/bills, pictures, airline tickets stubs (from visiting my fiance) and my engagement ring recipt. We both contributed to the content that the package requires regarding proof of relationship. All of our "evidence" so to speak was from before/the beginning of our application process before sending anything in. However, I'm not too sure about the second part of your question. Im sure there are plenty of resources here that will be able to help you find the correct answers. Best of Luck.

The I-134 only indicates to the consulate that you will not become dependent on the government for support from the time you enter the USA until you get the green-card.
Note I-134 is not considered to be binding.
What may concern father-in-law is the binding nature of I-864 that is later used when adjusting status used for GREEN-CARD.
Right, but the I-134 actually looks like a binding document. It isn't but it gives that impression. Just google "I-134 not a binding document" to read all you need to understand that aspect.
At some point though, a qualified sponsor is going to have to sign the I-864 and it IS binding. Unless there's a concern the immigrant will become a public charge, a close friend or relative will usually consider themselves pretty safe. If there is a public charge concern, they may be reluctant to sign a contract saying they'll reimburse the US Government for benefits.
I was also wondering this too, I have not gotten to this part in the process yet, but its good to know that there are resources out there that will explain these forms that will be filled in later on during the process. Thanks!

If you have nothing else, then yes it's going to be a problem. You don't have a timeline so I don't really know at what point in the process you're at. But I would recommend you stop using phone cards and start using your phone directly so that you can get phone records. Also, write letters to each other. Those as well as photos, chat logs, emails and any proof of either one of you traveling to visit the other will help to prove the ongoing relationship.
I will be filing for the k1 visa in december of this year so i havent done anything yet. We do have some gifts that were exchanged email logs and travel proofs since 2003. Also have pictures. I have started to make phone call directly from today as well but my question now is since i will be showing calls made from september of this year and applying in december this year, will that be too "short" of call logs? I can show proof of phone cards purchased for the past 1 year but i cant show exact details of those phone cards i use to use. Please share your thoughts
Thank You
My fiance and I will be together 4 years this november, and we provided 6 months worth of call logs(as per request of our lawyers). I provided 3 months worth, and he provided 3 months worth as well. We also provided the recipt for my engagement ring,airlinetickets/stubs, e-mails&letters or cards, and photos. Now we are waiting to hear from the NVC and Consulate about the interview date and next package required. Im not too sure if sept-dec of this year will be too short for the call logs you want to provide. I would imagine as long as you have proof of your relationship, have seen each other at least once within the past two years that you shouldnt have a problem. But you should look into the information symbiosis has provided for you since they have also used phone cards as well. Im a believer in the more information you have, the better. Best of luck!

Hi Guys, i was wondering, do i need any extra forms filled out by my fiances parents because it is there house i will be living in even though my fiance will be sponsoring me. Any ideas on what i should do?? Thanks dave
no, only if your fiancee's parents are going to be a co-sponsor for the K1.

The flowchart explains the process. The GUIDES will explain how. Everything you need to know is in the tabs above.
I was wondering this as well. The waiting and anticipation is making me anxious. Thanks for the information all!

Would paying for an Immigration lawyer/attorney be worth our time? Would it help organize it and make sure the process is done correctly? Also, does it help speed up the wait?
If so, what immigration lawyer/attorneys do you recommend. How did they help you?
Thank you
Luke and Deanna
it's personal preference really. my fiance and I decided to hire a lawyer, and they have been very helpful to us. It was alot of money upfront for us, but well worth it. Like I said personal preference. You should do what you and your fiance feel the most comfortable with.

Dang! Im very sorry to hear that
that sounds rough! hope all goes well with your visa now...

seems like we're both on the same page!

Me and my fiance have been in a this relationship for more than 5 years and we have been talking on the phone alot(from usa to india). But I have always been using the one time use phone cards and dont have any records of calls directly from my phone to her phone. Can this be a problem in showing our on going relationship.
Please share ur advice
Thank You in advance
I'm not too sure if it'll be a problem or not because my fiance and I were both able to gather our phone records to submit for our K1. However, I do have some suggestions for you on how you might be able to gather them... you can try to contact the company of the calling cards that you have used to contact your fiance to see if they would keep any of that information on file or (if you called from your home) you could try contacting your phone service provider to see if they would be able to provide this information to you as well. You could also try having your fiance contact her phone service provider to see if they keep any records of incoming calls from you on her end...or try making a few calls to one another directly without using a phone card. Hope my suggestions were helpful to you. Best of luck!

I used Ups same day service. With this service I was also given a tracking number, and a contact number if the tracking number didnt work. Its a little extra, but it was well worth it!

I've gone by calendar days. Its been accurate.

My Fiance and I decided to hire a Lawyer. They have been very helpful to us. They walked us through the process, helped us fill out all the forms, let us know what information was relevant and what wasnt..etc. What really sold me on getting a lawyer instead of doing it on my own with my fiance...was my lawyers reputation, and how quickly they were to get back to us about any questions we had regarding the visa before retaining them. Right now I beleive my fiance and I are where we sould be as far as time goes. I guess all the decision really depends on is personal preference. Had I known what I am learning/know now back then; my fiance and I probably would have done it on our own. At the time these resources were not available to us. However, at the same time I wouldnt do anything differently now, because I am happy with what my lawyers are doing for me. Good Luck!

I have a question about the G-325A where they ask for the first name of your parents. My parents are both GC holders, but when they came here they slightly altered their names to sound more American, should I put the names as they appear on their GC or on my Birth Certfiicate. They are different. Thank you for any help here.
It would probably be best to use their legal names.

I am pretty far along with the preparation of my I-129 form. I WAS previously trying to find a lawyer, but now I am pretty confident that I will be ready to file soon without a lawyer's help.
Am I being foolish by not hiring a lawyer? Will I need a lawyer anyway to complete the other phases of the process?
I chose to hire a lawyer... but hiring a lawyer is your own personal preference really. There are lots of resources availabe to complete the process on your own these days. This site is definately proof of that:)

Hi all - sorry, I couldn't find the answer using the search function. I have an important question...
My GF (currently in Canada) and I will finally be ready to file our K1 sometime in April. She and her former husband parted ways years ago, but because of cost (and her not thinking she'd ever re-marry) they didn't get a divorce. Well they filed a few weeks ago, and long story short her divorce should be final in April, May at the latest.
Now to my question: We want to file our K1 pretty much the day after her divorce is final, which would be April or May. We had a family vacation planned (she has kids) to Disney for Dec of '08, that thanks to my job, just got pushed forward to Oct of '08.
Knowing that the K1 is averaging 6-8 months these days, that puts her here sometime between mid-Oct and mid-Dec. What if the K1 doesn't come through in time? Will the U.S. still let her in temporarily (1 week) for a previously-planned vacation? I heard no, that she has to wait. But the other day a lawyer told me she was "pretty sure" that because my GF is Canadian and doesn't need a Visa to enter, her and the kids will be okay coming here for vacation during the K1 waiting period as long as she can provide "proof of intent" to return home to Canada. I would imagine the fact that she hadn't sold her home yet, had round trip tickets, etc., would suffice. Would it, or would she need something more?
That all said, CAN she travel to the U.S. for vacation during the K1 waiting period?
Thanks so much for any advice!
Hi Kalifornia,
That was one of my biggest concearns as well...my lawyer told me that it isn't a problem to visit my fiance while im going through the K1 process as long as I can provide proof of when I would be comming back into Canada(ie. tickets, work, family, bills). They just want to see that your not going to remain in the US, because it draws attention and suspicion. I have not had any problems with traveling.
question regarding pictures.
