  1. We got both petions approved this week. We already have a case no. for the CR-1. That's the visa we want to pursue.

Do we have to do anything to "stop" the K-3, or we simply let it go ahead without fears? What if they call me for the K-3 interview while we are still doing NVC for the I-130?

BEST of the BEST would be to have a K-3 interview early on, finish Cr-1 in time and get switched to CR-1... Likely or not?

  2. Attempt no. 1 failed!!!

IV fee ok -you are right-, but what about the AOS fee??

I wanted the IIN to pay for the Affidavit of Support bill. We have all the documents ready for AOS as of now, but without that IIN we cannot pay online and kick-start the process..

Documents for DS-230 can be States side by Tue if necessary, as I will use Fedex 8.00am service..

I found that the operators would not give the IIN on the phone and it didn't slow me down not having it earlier because I still had to wait for acceptance of the Choice of Agent before the IV Fee was generated.

Since you are not ready to send your documents as yet, I would suggest waiting for the IIN in the mail.

    Best of Luck!!

  3. Ok I answer my own question. I called, no prob. They don't care WHO you are as long as you have the BENEFICIARY and PETITIONER info..

Asked when the AOS+DS3230 packages would be generated, answer in 4 to 6 weeks. I stumbled: "would it be possible to..." "NO, nothing is possible until the packages are generated."

I wanted to get the IIN number, I guess I will have to try again...

Before I start calling about the INN, I wanted to know if only the USC is supposed to call them or if they reply questions also from the beneficiary?
  4. Have faith, if it is with an adjudcator, it will come soon! Instead, have you thought if you want to proceed with the K-3 or the CR1?

If CR1, prepare all the documents at your end so that you are ready to shoot ahead. We decided to go for the "real deal" and already got the NVC no. assigned, and I think early next week, we will start filing more docs.

just spoke to an officer at VSC...very nice lady. I told her how distressing this is getting and she was very calm and comforting. she told me that my files are with an adjudicator and I should be hearing something soon. God knows how soon is that soon will be!
  5. Ok I managed by using another older printer, although the quality is not great...

I printed out the barcode using the info on VjWiki...

One question. HOW BIG is the bar code supposed to be? I printed from the pop-up and then by copying and paste and I got two different sizes. Does it matter for the barcode reader? The larger one is about 2.7" long..

I repeated the name and telephone no. of my wife under I APPOINT and NAME OF THE PERSON WHO WILL ACT AS AGENT.

  6. I see.. so you did NOT fax the Ds-3032... You just took like a photocopy of it (faxed) and MAILED it like normal. I assume you created your own barcode..

my husband is in morocco, he downloaded, signed and faxed to me, i sent mail to nvc. If your husband is in iraq then i dont know because your going to need his income tax etc etc no these you mail with the attached sheets you get only after paying the money. THe money online wont show up until the agent is accepted, they send you instructions after each step but u can do ahead of time if your careful but still have to basically follow the step procedure

If you mail it, it means that you are pretty sure the DS-3032 HAS been created in their system right? How do you know that?

Or you are certain that BY THE TIME it gets in their hands, it will be created? If you use express mail, that could be a dangerous assumption, although I am absolutely positive that if you have a case no. assigned (which you have in order to create the bar code), they can surely update your info to reflect the fact that you want your spouse to be the agent..

For filling out you have to put the spouse's name TWICE, once where it says I APPOINT _________ and once where it says

"Name of the person who will act as your agent or attorney for receipt of mail" ?

ok i get it, im going to mail our choice of agent, it should get to nvc by monday, hopefully..

i already have MNL case number...

I DON'T think that's enough... at least after I read LINCHE NVC tutorial... I think you need to be sure that the DS-3032 has been created in the system first... Anyone correct me if I am wrong.

  8. USC side, we are waiting on IRS transcripts..

Beneficiary side, all lined up, just need to send to US all the originals as I mentioned in a separate post...

If I get the IIN, I will email AND fax the DS3032, and if they don't acknowledge those in a week or so I will mail in the hardcopy.

thank you for your info: you went through NVC in one month, that's fantastic, and I wanna make that our goal too, so that we can get assigned an interview hopefully for end of Jan..

ive heard sometimes they will give the number sometimes not, i just got mine in the first letter and went from there. You go to the online payment once u have pay and it should be accepted usually quick maybe one day send 864 with the printed cover sheet payy the 400 print cover sheet send 230 hope u have all documents ready to go and dont hve to wait, i gave few days between each step and we went fine. Most calls on any step they will automatically say give us 2-4 weeks they got our 230 on a monday and it was completed that friday
  9. My understanding is that you still need the NII to be assigned and the DS-3032 to be created in the system, but don't quote me on that.

No idea how long it takes to have the DS-3032 created and what triggers that if it is not the case no. being assigned..

You wanna mail it and just write the case no. in pen on the top?

i havent receive a copy from NVC, i downloaded the forms here and im going to mail it to them now, is it ok if i download the choice of agent and send it to them??

no what i did is use james shortcut and i pasted the barcode on the form..

I think she means the DS3032 form ONLY, since they even accept email versions of it...

Of course everything else must be ORIGINAL!

You mean the ORIGINAL copy they send the beneficiary, or can we download from the website (send it to our spouses while waiting for case no.) and ask them to add in pen the case number, or perhaps they can wait until they receive their copy of the form (I believe it is sent to petitioner and beneficiary) and perhaps cut the bar code and paste it on the signed form we sent them?

My husband got a response 13 days after he sent the email. I think mailing the hard copy is much faster. By the time he received a response, the NVC had processed our Affidavit of Support and was reviewing the DS 230. If you have a signed copy of the DS230, I'd suggest mailing it in.

    Best of Luck...

hi you mean i can submit my DS230 together with DS3032?

sorry i meant a signed copy of the DS3032 (Choice of Agent)

I'd recommend to email and send the signed hard copy.

u can do two ways, download from their end fill out and fax to u then when u have number u write and send or u can get the one fr your mail, fill, send fax to them to sign, fax back and send we only sent fax never used the one in the mail

i took a blank screen typed the case number enlarged the letter size to fit the square whre the case number goes, printed it out, cut, and glued in the spot worked perfect didnt have to be a bar code

wait you mean we can fax the forms too, how about the I-864 can hubby fax it to me since he is in iraq, it would be easier for me to send it to NVC?? do they accept copies like that and not the original??

  11. Just received NVC case no. today... I have ALL documents, I just need to make copies and send originals to the US.

Standard copies will not help much if they lose them though!

I really don't care if they return the originals, I don't need them after I get my green card, but I want to pray that they get to the consulate all right BEFORE my interview!!! ;-)

be sure to make copies but originals need to be sent, matter of fact be sure to make copies of anything u send to them...the originals will be returned at interview do start gathering and organizing i dont know what point your at but nvc goes quick and u need to be ready
  12. I just got our NVC case no! Great Thanksgiving for us!

I a not sure if Friday anyone works but will try to call and bug for the IIN.. How hard is it to get off the officer in your experience?

-Once we have the INN, can we simply check from the payment website if the AOS bill has been generated, and if yes, go ahead and pay?

-Once we have the INN, can we safely assume that the DS3032 has been generated too and therefore proceed on that front (email choice of agent), or we still have to double check with the officer to confirm it has been created?

  13. Oh so you FAXED it? Not mail nor email? Smart! Did they accept it OK? How were you able to verify that they had accepted it and entered in the system?

    Thank you!

  15. I feel very uncomfortable sending my precious original Police Certificates to my spouse in the US (even if I'd be using FEDEX or similar..) and then on to NVC (what if they lose it either at receipt, during processing, or onwards back to the consulate?). I've lived in many countries and it took me a LONG time and money to gather all. I managed to get some in duplicates, but others, I couldn't, and/or I live too far from the embassy to request a certificated copy.. Also, Japanese Police Certificates are difficult to get and they come in SEALED envelops..

Ditto about the military documents. It would take months to get originals if lost, although for these perhaps it is easier to obtain a certified copy just in case...

Is there any way of filing DS-230 directly with the consulate? We got both the I-129 and I-130 approved. Would there be a way of having the consulate request our I-130 documents from NVC and filing the Affidavit and DS-230 directly with the consulate after convincing them to switch the interview to CR1?

  16. Thanks, so if you use IRS Transcripts you cannot use the EZ form? Is it any eazy (abridged version) to fill out?

My wife has income in 2005 and 2006 (overseas,, but recently filed), just not in 2007. Present income can be documented with payslips (would you have to send ORIGINALS or photocopies are ok? )

and with an official letter of employment from her blue-chip employer..

    Anyone on the above??

If last year's income was 0, but this year is enough and documented by paystubs and employment letter, is that enough?

Also, another question: what's the difference between I-864 and I-864EZ ? Will NVC tell us which one we have to file?

I think that the current income is what matters for the I864. If the current income is sufficient, you should be ok.

The I864EZ can be used if you are only using income reported on a W2 to qualify and there is only 1 person being petitioned. There are three questions at the top of the I864EZ that you must answer "Yes" to in order to use the form.

The NVC will indicate that you must submit the I864. They do not know if you qualify for the EZ...

    Good Luck!!

  17. I see it's required to provide front and back copy of the U.S. citizen's birth certificate, but I'm wondering why the copy of the back? Its blank! So I'm just supposed to make a copy of the blank back and place behind the front copy?

    Thank you.

If there is writing/text on the back yes (some do FYI).

For the I-130 application, it says it in the guide...

    4. Copy of the full Birth certificate (front and back) for the US Citizen...

Then since mine is blank I only need to provide the copy of the front right? Sorry if it's a dumb question but i dont want an RFE.

    Thank you for your help.

We sent copy of passport and Certificate of citizenship and that was enough

  18. Sorry to bump this, but I need opinions (SEE BELOW) because we are at NVC now...

We got official transcripts from the IRS, employment letter, in case do we need to document the savings in the bank account with some official bank statement?

So can you give me a ballpark figure for 2 people? I think the poverty line is something like $18k? what if my savings are 3 times the 125% poverty line then (not the acutal shortfall) and my wife's present income 5 times that?

The problem is not the fact that we can support ourselves, the problem is the fact that she did not have any income for a the last few years and therefore no tax filing or form...

Ok what in case my wife was a housewife for most of 2005, all 2006 and 2007, but from Jan. 1 2008 she has a very well paid job?

Will a letter from the employer and a very well-stuffed bank account suffice?? I have savings too, well above the poverty line required, would it be useful to show that evidence when it comes to the embassy interview for the K3 or CR1?

You may be dealing with a different requirement - some embassies require 3 years tax returns (Colombia does) - so you need to check with yours. Also be aware that generally speaking - personal assets like bank funds need to be three times the amount of the shortfall in the income to meet the 125% poverty line for the household size. Good Luck
