  1. I see you are an aficionado of Welcome letters!! ;-)

I don't know why but I cannot track it... Yes I did enter like you said..

It's good that it should take only 2-3 weeks!!

    Thank you

The SRC number should work because that's what I used to trace mine. Just enter it as SRCxxxxxxxxxx

replace the x's with digits and don't put any space or dash

It could come within 2 weeks - that's how long it took between my first one to arrive from welcome letter & green card in hand but second time around it took about 3 weeks from welcome letter to green card in hand (this was last month)

  2. NO Greencard no. on it! I'm sure...

Perhaps another letter will come before the actual card? Any IR1 person can confirm?

I guess I cannot track yet because it hasn't been mailed then? It returned an error and the call center lady said that it is probably because 30 days from entry haven't passed yet.... Or perhaps they were just too lazy to check and understand why it was not in the system!!!

Congrulations... (F).. You will recieve within next 2 weeks... Green card number should be on your welcome notice... and with receipt number you can track with uscis.gov once they have mailed..

    Best wishes

    Bani :star:

  3. Hi, I have an IR1 visa, waiting for my green card, got SSN, and got temporary Driving License. Can I already buy a car or do I have to wait for final driving license? Can I put the title under both me and my USC spouse, or do I have to put it only in the name of ONE person?

Another question: I want to buy from a private individual. Will I have to pay sales tax to anyone or declare anywhere how much I paid for it?

What do I have to do exactly to buy it? Do I get the present owner's title in my physical possession? what if the car had more than ONE owners? I think the present owner only has his own title.

    Please help!

  4. Thank you!

    Surely hope so!!!

I got my Welcome Letter after entry, about three weeks later. It says I will hear from them in 30 days.

It has my immigrant no (same as the one put on my passport at POE), case type is OS155A (does it mean Green Card production??), and the receipt no. starts with "SRC-"

I tried to find to put this receipt no. in the online tracking system, but it didn't find it. I also tried with the call center, but it didn't work either. Is there any way to TALK to an operator at the call center without having a valid receipt no. ???

Can I hope to receive the green card in the next 2 weeks? I got the SSN card and driving license without problems.

u'll receive it within next 2 weeks:)

    Congratuation.

  6. Sorry I didn't explain clearly. I am not the US citizen. I am going to the CR1 interview and of course I need my passport. Do you think I need to show also the old passport?

I don't have the time before the interview to send a photocopy of the new passport to the NVC. At the most I can send a copy of the new passport to the Consulate... but they will see it when I go for the interview anyway

Are you using it to prove you are a US Citizen, or as a record of travel?

If record of travel, the old one is fine, they are concerned with the entry/exit stamps. If for citizenship, attach a complete copy of new passport.

  7. After your case has been approved at NVC and the date for the interview set (could get it on the phone), how long does it normally take to receive the official letter with the confirmation and embassy details?

Will it be sent only to the agent of choice or both to the AoChoice and beneficiary in own country?

Cannot go to the interview if I am not sure there is one!

  8. What about after POE and/or green card issuance?

    Hello all!

As you can see per my timeline the I-130 petition for my husband was approved 4 months ago back on September 4, 2008. So far the documents have not been recieved by NVC yet. I have contacted the sentor for Illinois in regards to the delay with the process and the caseworker responded back to me last night that when she investigated this case, USCIS has told her the case still remains with them as they have already approved the case and are now working on the background checks. She also added that there is no way for anyone to expedite the background checks.

Has anyone else experienced the same?

Also if they are now doing bacground checks, after a whole year since they got the petition and have approved it a year later, what were they doing for one whole year? AND furthermore, on what grounds have they approved the petition???

I fail to understand these people.

    Any insights or similiar experiences???

The basis on which they approved the petition is that you are a US Citizen without an Adam Walsh act conviction, that you and your husband were free to marry when you married and that your marriage is legal as well as there's at least a reasonable chance your marriage is bona fide. Most of the last year, your petition was sitting in a box, shelf or file cabinet waiting its turn for the next step in a multiple step process. A good portion of the sitting time was before the did anything at all besides cash the check, assign a file number and assemble a case file.

New background checks can be ordered at multiple stages of petition adjudication process at pretty much any stage after that up to and including just before and just after the visa interview.

I hope you find the answers helpful, even if you don't like them.

  9. Could be, but for most people it normally updates I think.

Call them EVERY day, although the AVR updates almost every day too.

How did people learn that their case was completed at NVC? Did you call every day? Did you wait until you got a notice in the mail?

We're almost there and I'm getting a little impatient, too bad we can't see each time our file is touched like USCIS and the AVR only updates once a week, right?

ehhhh, the AVR really isn't that reliable for most. There are some people that have gone completely through NVC, and the AVR never changed.

There are some, where the AVR never acknowledged their case number.

  10. For people that got their CR/IR-1 case completed at NVC at the end of this week: do you think we will be in time to get the interview date set by the end of next week? I saw many people who get their interview dates set, so I am wondering if we will have to wait until Feb. to get our interview date... That would be awful! :crying:

I hope next week they are still scheduling interviews!

Alternatively, what's the best way to proceed?

Can we email the consulate and ask to request the file or is it better to get the K-3 interview date (if one has it) set and THEN request to switch to CR/IR-1 and pull the file from NVC?

  11. Actually I have noticed that the AVR updates whenever... It definitely updated yesterday for me.

Call the operator. Yeah. AVR updates every tuesday.. Im calling NVC's operator to check the status of my case...And before my birthdate in their system was wrong and i also e-mailed them and after a week they replied that they received my inquiry and then after 1 week again they e-mailed me telling that they corrected my birthdate in their system. So they are responding to our inquiry on our e-mail
  12. Hi Ishom,

very good considering the holidays! Hopefully you will get a date next week!

We got the checklist mid of Dec. but we couldn't get to it or reply to it, but we called the same day and on the phone they told us they would review it (they thought we had a wrong document, but it was right!) because I was sure it was the right one.. then before Xmas I also emailed them a scannerized copy of the document telling them: "look, this is the right one!".

They emailed back one week later saying that they had received my email and it was being reviewed...

AVR since yesterday says that the checklist response was received Jan. 02. I think that in the next couple of days they will take a look at it!

Not sure whether to trust just my email or if it would be better to RE-send the letter with actual checklist coversheet.. I will give them until tomorrow and then see what to do.

It seems that AVR is always behind so perhaps the case is completed even!

It was complete from the time they received our DS-230, but that's another story....

Hi charisma.. our checklist was received Dec.22 and we got case complete Dec. 30....I think they worked fast considering that there are holidays
  13. I cannot change the timeline anymore because I forgot the email I used to register the timeline (which is different from the main email for the account)..

I think I will keep both routes going, so that once the IR-1 is approved, I can ask the consulate to switch the interview..

I hope NVC gets done quickly, all they have to do is to check again that we indeed have filed all the necessary documents!

charisma1, :time: and change it to CR-1/IR-1 if that's the route you've chosen.

Best of luck getting your interview date.

  14. Voice system says that NVC has received our reply to their checklist (they thought we had submitted the wrong document, but it was actually the correct one!!! I guess our case was being reviewed by a rookie... So unlucky!)

How long does it normally take them to have a review after they receive the info (we simply emailed asking them to check once because the document we had submited is undoubtedly the correct one... and attached a scannerized copy of it.)

I am scared we might miss this cut-off for appointment scheduling!! That would really be awful after waiting so long, and since we did everything right this time!
