    @Strawberry25

    Hi All,

I'm not sure why a Consulate Officer would need a wet signature on an I-864. For other civil documents such as Birth Certificates and marriage documents, originals are required.

I saw someone in this forum said that the beneficiary required have the original i864 form for the interview.

after submitting civil documents to NVC ,  send originals to him in morocco to take to interview\

I used USPS overnight ( took about a week to go thru inspection in US and Morocco) but other carriers are very expensive

    Casa wants originals

the only document that can be a copy is your photo ID that proves you have US residency (DL or state ID works best)

Documents Required for the Visa Interview

    • Birth certificate and English translation
    • Police certificate (fiche anthropometrique) and English translation
    • Court record (casier judiciare) and English translation
    • Original marriage certificate plus a copy and English translation if applicable
    • Original divorce certificate plus a copy and English translation if applicable  (any former marriage)
    • Death certificate and English translation if applicable ( any former marriage)
    • Medical record from one of our panel physicians
    • 2 photos (5cm x 5cm) white background.
    • I-864 Affidavit of Support form (with petitioner’s original signature) along with a copy of the petitioner’s most recent tax return
      • Please note that the petitioner must fill out the I-864 form and copy of W2's and/or any 1099  even if he or she thinks that their income does not meet the Poverty Income Guidelines
      • if using joint sponsor I 864 needed with their W2's and proof of US residency
    • The beneficiary of the CR1 petition must also fill out the DS-260.
    • Confirmation page of DS-260 submission.
    • Police records from foreign countries lived at for one (1) year or more.
    • petitioner's US proof of residency

Is it still required for the beneficiary to bring the original Affidavit of Support (Form I-864) to their interview if the petitioner lives in the U.S. and the beneficiary resides in another country, or is a photocopy sufficient?

Hi, As far as I know this is normal. Sometimes administrator processing takes long time. No one will be able to tell when it is going to be finished.

May I know after your documents approved by NVC how many days it takes for you to get an interview appointment ?

are you also DQ now? if so When was it?

    Good day to all,

The interview was held on March 19, 2024, and at the end of the interview, I was given a blue slip 221g without requesting any additional documentation.

After 3 weeks, we sent an email to the embassy, and they replied that the case is undergoing necessary administrative processing.

The date on the CEAC has been changing as follows, but the status remains as 'Ready': March 19th - Ready (Interview)

    April 1st - Ready

April 10th - Ready (We received a reply from the embassy to an email we sent hence we assume they reviewed the file on this day)

    May 10th - Ready

    May 13th - Ready

We are confused why it says 'Ready' all the time as if we have to face an interview.

May I know what questions did they ask in the interview?

***Moved to Working and Traveling during US Immigration***

Once you enter the US, your visa will be endorsed by CBP.  The stamped visa will serve as a temporary Green Card until the plastic one arrives (up to a year).  You will be authorized to work immediately.  Your new employer might want to see a SS Card before being able to pay you.

I started applying for jobs about a month before I moved, because I knew that I would be able to attend a job interview (I moved pre-covid). Had a job interview 3 days after arriving in the US and started my job 2 weeks later.

    You can start now.

Update your linkedin (if you have one), start looking for jobs on indeed, start to network and apply, apply, apply...

Just like @Daphne . I started looking before I moved and interviewed my first week in the country and started working the 2 weeks after I arrived.

You might also want to "Americanize" you resume before you start applying...

I'm a teacher though (and there is a teacher shortage here) so that made landing a job extremely easy but if you might want to look at American Resumes and CVs to understand how you're supposed to sell yourself in this country.

Which means I can work from the day I landed to the US with my greencard right?

Dont we need a SSN before start working?

Upon entry into the US with a valid immigrant visa, your passport will be stamped by CBP to endorse the visa.  At that point, you are a legal resident.  Your endorsed visa becomes a temporary Green card until the plastic one arrives (or up to a year from date of entry).  You can IMMEDIATELY exit and re-enter the US later using your stamped passport.

No need to get an approval from somewhere or inform anyone (like uscis) right?

I won't promise you that you won't get a request for a joint sponsor.  But I did my mother-in-law's IR5 last year, my wife and I combined are about where you are in your current salary, and we didn't need a joint sponsor.

    Regards,

    Vicky's Mom

Oh Thank you so much. Do you have any idea about the question number 3?

  8. 5 minutes ago, Vickys_Mom said:

There's always a risk.  They could see the $78k number and still decide you need a joint sponsor.  It all depends on who reviews the paperwork.

Make sure you provide information on your current income in addition to your past income.  If they can see this year is trending towards that $78k, it's more likely they'd take that and "overlook" the 2023 numbers.

    Regards,

    Vicky's Mom

Thank you. currently I am getting over $100,000 annual salary. I got an employment confirmation letter mentioning my annual salary from my employer.

I-864p form gives the levels needed per USCIS - HHS. Check if that's enough for your household size. And it should be total income as you claimed loss so $42k.

My household size is 3, and income requirement is $32,270 as per i864p. If I have to mention $42,600 as income for the year 2023 in i864, will this amount be sufficient? will there be a risk of getting a RFE requesting a joint sponsor?

  10. My 2023 IRS transcript is as follows,

    Wages as per W2 = 78,000

    Partnership loss = (35,400)

    Total income = $42,600

    1. What amount should I supposed to mention in I846- affidavit of support as most recent year total income? Is it W2 value or loss deducted value?

    2. My household size is 3, and income requirement is $32,270 as per i864p. If I have to mention $42,600 as income for the year 2023 in i864, will this amount be sufficient? will there be a risk of getting a RFE requesting a joint sponsor?

    3. I have to mention 2023, 2022, 2021 income information in the form I864. In 2021 I have submitted taxes jointly with ex-wife and I didn’t make enough money in that year, and I only have a month’s W2 form. IRS transcript of joint filling is available. What should I suppose to do to complete 2021 income information? What among should I mention? And what supporting documents should I upload for 2021?

  11. The beneficiary obtained the police report from the country of residence last December 2023 for the i130 matter in advance. We just got the USCIS approval last week. We are wondering whether we still can use that police report. Is there any validity period for a police report? can we use that report for NVC?

This was my experience filing an expedite request recently for a somewhat similar reason (medical diagnosis that requires hospital treatment and a tough recovery that would be much better suited in the US than my wife's home country). It did not require any mailing docs (yet), I submitted the request online via their live chat.

I have not yet heard back on the request decision, but here's what I have done so far:

    - uploaded supporting docs and a cover letter for the explanation of expedite request to my uscis online portal

    - Opened an Ask Emma chatbot and used Live Chat option to connect with a real agent

    - Asked them to submit an expedite request for me

They gave me a reference number and some instructions on what's next (response usually 7 days, but can be longer) and that's where I'm at. Hope this helps

Did they approve your expedite request?
