  1. Congrats you two!!

And yes, the notarized letter of intent is required when the NOA2 has expired, i.e. 4 months from approval date. Otherwise they don't even typically asked for a renewed letter of intent.

    Relax, people! Deep breaths!!

    Congrats Nicky!!!!

and thanks for clearing that up! I got very scared! Interview is Friday!

Even if you need it notarized it's not a big deal, as all I have to do is send a new one to Nicky who then sends it with his passport to the embassy. The only thing that sucks is the cost of sending the document international express...but that is relatively a small price to pay in the whole scheme of things.

very true just trying not to worry too much.

  3. Hi,

I am so confused about green cards. The more I read the lees I understand. Me and my fiancée have not starred the k1 process yet.

What we would like to know is if she will be able to work when she arrives . I have seen in a a post that says she might have to enter at jfk to get a stamp to work. I just don't understand how and when she will be abel to work. We don't have huge bank accounts and we both need to work.

    Thanks,

    Dan

when she arrives in the US on her K-1 if she arrives in JFK she will most likely get the temp EAD stamp. the Temp EAD stamp is good for 3 months but you have to apply for her social security card before she can get a job which can take up to a month. So really the temp EAD is valid for about 2 months. if you get married right away and send in AOS/EAD/AP your EAD might get approved before your temp EAD. your best bet is to get married as soon as she arrives and send off the paperwork as soon as you can.

    the AOS/EAD/AP costs $1010

  4. Ok, I did some searching, and either do not understand the answer or can't find it. I read reports of interview process, that the fiance(e) has to pay for the visa fee at a "window" before the interview (or after). But the amount isn't mentioned. Can someone tell me what it typically is?

The way it sounds: taking out a few bills to pay; but I read somewhere else it costs $400?? That's on top of the $455 I-129F fee at initial filing?? I know it takes money and time, but would be "worth it" in the end, but still a shocker if that is the case...

    Thanks for your answers/guidance.

I believe the K-1 Visa costs $131 but I maybe wrong

  5. Can someone please help me...My financee and I are wondering what happens after we finish the Packet 3...Do we send it in and then wait for the interview...or is the interview date just set automatically?

My finacee says we are supposed to wait because on the form it says to "bring these forms with you" So we really have no Idea what to do at this point ~~!!

you send back the forms it asks for (DS-230,DS-156, DS-156K..) right away. and collect everything on the checklist and make a medical appointment. once you have everything collected and have a medical appointment scheduled you send the checklist back. that lets them know you have everything ready for the interview and they will schedule your interview. once they schedule your interview you will receive packet 4 which is the interview appointment letter. you take all the documents on the checklist to the interview. (birth certificate, New police certificate, passport, I-134 plus the evidence, relationship evidence.... the only thing you send to the embassy is the forms they ask for. (DS-230....)

  6. I always flew with BA.. almost every time the plane was quite empty and i got to sit where ever I liked and even lay across the 3 seats. then our last BA plane we booked got canceled and their call line was closed so we had no way to find out what to do.. they were nice enough to put us on Virgin.. then BA started to have strikes so we switched to Virgin since then but the last Virgin flight I took wasn't near as nice as BA. both going and coming home were about 2 hours delayed! annoying.. probably going back to BA for his last flight home but trying to avoid heathrow because they're losing tons of baggage these days and travelers insurance doesn't cover it any more!

  7. he's calling the embassy? thats crazy!

you can call the DOS from america. on cell theres no long distance so its free and they'll tell you what you need to know... 202-663-1225

    http://contact-us.state.gov/cgi-bin/state....ser/std_alp.php

that number is long distance as well and cost money as well, the site though has a place u can email but would they get back to you quick enough? or take a while

oh gotcha. I'm sorry. it doesn't cost on my cell phone to call within the US. I tried emailing and got an email back 2 days later saying that they're so backed up that they weren't taking personal case emails. just general questions. but its worth a try. best of luck to you
