  1. My wife got her SSN before her green card in the mail, which surprised us. The social security website says it can take up to 3 weeks, so, yea, I'd make an appointment at the office if its been over 3 weeks.
  2. I submitted it again this morning and it was accepted I made no changes, just waited ~24 hours before resubmitting.
  3. Tried it. It requires having a drivers license or state ID to make an account, neither of which she has.
  4. I didn't know that was an option. Thanks!
  5. It takes just a few weeks for a lot of people, but i've seen people say it takes them 3 months.
  6. My wife just got her green card approved recently and her SSN came in the mail yesterday, with the issue date being Feb 6th (just over a week ago). I filled our taxes but it was rejected due to her SSN. Could it be because the government's systems haven't updated with her SSN? If so, how long should I wait? Maybe try submitting again? I have to submit my tax return asap due for a variety of reasons.
  7. Just got the notice of the green card being shipped to our address ❤️
  8. weird. Ours didn't, even though it was 2 days before your interview. Status is still "interview scheduled". Why is our case always delayed? 😔
  9. I posted in the other thread. basically the same as yours, but probably even shorter. We went to eat at a vegan place afterwards which was good. We explored Montgomery and took some photos.
  10. Happened to us. Green card was approved before the work authorization was. Waste of money.
  11. Interview was today and.. well that was easy. We go in, he asks us "is your name..." "Is your address still..." and a few other questions confirming details on the application hasn't changed. My wife and daughter signed a piece of paper, and he asks "do you have any question"? "no". "Well, your approved, I just have to finish processing this and you'll receive your card within 3 weeks.". We both felt mixed. Like its great it went so smoothly, but it felt like a massive waste of time??? We had to drive 3 hours each way, nearly $50 in gas, and it consumed our whole day, along with the hours it took to gather, copy, and organize the long list of "required" documents. The only documents we brought that were inspected were our passports and the interview notice. Nothing else was even touched or glanced at. Again, its great it went so smoothly, but it felt like a big waste of time, which is par for the course. I'll be excited once the green cards arrive and my wife can finally start working so we can open a business together.
  12. @smilingstone Looks like our interview will be 2 days before yours; Jan 27th in Montgomery. We'll let you know how it goes. edit; meant to post this in the March thread, idk how I accidentally posted here
  13. The original interview was scheduled to be tomorrow, but it was cancelled. We just got the online notice about it being rescheduled, which is nice. We won't know the date of the rescheduled interview until we get the letter in the mail.
  14. I just rechecked and the interview was actually just rescheduled just now
  15. Almost same here. AOS interview was scheduled for tomorrow... but then they canceled it. Still no sign of work authorization. Its ridiculous.
  16. They are more concerned about being a current risk of self harm than past.
  17. If using the healthcare.gov marketplace, you won't be eligible in some states. I added my wife to my insurance, but she was kicked off after a few months since they said her status made her ineligible. She has to have either a work authorization or green card.
  18. Got the cancellation letter today and its just the generic "due to unforeseen circumstances we had to cancel your interview" message. So.... back to waiting I guess.. I really don't understand why they would schedule our interview and then cancel it a few days later.
  19. We got the letter in the mail yesterday saying her interview is on December 19th.. but I checked her case history online today and it updated saying on November 19th, her interview was canceled, and on November 20th, her case is "ready to be scheduled". Does anyone know what this could mean?
  20. Interview scheduled!!!!!!!!!!!! So happy!! Still no update on her work authorization (last update was ~28 days ago saying they transferred her case to another office), but so happy we got an update for the green card at least! For their cases, we can't check online, we have to wait until the notice arrives in the mail to see when the interview is scheduled for (please don't be December 4th or 5th).
  21. We were immediately able to find a slot ~3 weeks out once we were told we could schedule an interview.
  22. Nope. I was roughly equal to the income requirement, but I had ~$50k in assets.
  23. I don't think we tried. We just waited to get a letter so we knew that the embassy had the documents. We didn't get a letter, but I instead got an email with the list of things required. We had to compile all the required documents into a single PDF file and send it back through email before we were allowed to schedule. We didn't try to schedule before that, but we were able to sign up for the account. I don't remember if we had the ability to view or schedule an appointment before then.
  24. My wife never received a letter, but we did receive an email from the embassy with a list of things we needed to complete before scheduling an interview. Once we completed the list and emailed them back, they let us schedule an interview. You'll need to make sure you have everything completed before scheduling an interview.
