Thanks so much for your help and the links. I really appreciate it!!

Hi All,
I hope everyone is doing well, I haven't been around in so long
So my son was born here in the US almost a year ago. Since I am Canadian, he is also Canadian. I am trying to get his Canadian Citizenship certificate, so if we should move back to Canada in the future or he decides to on his own when he's older, he has the paperwork in order to do so. I found the form online, but that form is for children currently living in Canada as permanent residents. I can't find anything for children that live outside Canada, how to get their Citizenship paperwork. I need that first, so I can go ahead and apply for his passport. He IS Canadian, but I want the paperwork that says so.
Has anyone on this forum that lives in the US and has American born children applied for Canadian Citizenship for their children?
Thanks for any advice!! -
I took the Oath today, I'm officially American! It was a great day!!

Peachy, you're near Philly too!? I'm in Doylestown!! Work in Bristol.
So where near Philly do you live? I work in West Chester...
Oh yeah, I say zed a lot, people look at me funny when I do. Especially when I'm training someone at work "Just push Control Zed"... they look at me real strange.

Thanks all!! This is so funny that you mentioned about not having to put a bill in a folder, that's exactly how I felt! I'm so relieved to not have to prove my marriage anymore to anyone!!
Congrats Jill! I just got approved for naturalization as well (May 16). It's nice to be done with USCIS. It feels different being a US citizen ... surreal, actually ... I can't explain exactly, but I feel more like I belong. The other day, the water bill came in and for the first time in six years I realized I didn't have to make a copy of yet another piece of paper and stick it in a file, nor would I have to ever again. Sometimes, the little things hit home ...
It's hard saying the part where you give up loyalty to other countries ... I think it will be easier to say when you think of the tattoo on your back. I remember Flames saying he wore his Canadian Flag socks at his oath ceremony. Thank goodness Canada recognizes dual citizenship, even if the U.S. doesn't. Going through this whole process sure makes you feel your Canadianness in a way you never would if you stayed in Canada. You can take the Canadian out of Canada, but you can't take the Canada out of the Canadian. Eh!

OMG you're pregnant, congrats Huggles!!
I shop more, and I spend more money. There are bigger stores with more selection here, so its harder to be responsible. I've started to curb that habit a bit. But I'm still cheap, so its a funny mix. I don't eat as healthy as I used to, and I definately eat more fast food. Not a ton, but more; I hardly ever ate fast food up in Canada. I gained 15 pounds then lost 20, but now that Im pregnant its all coming back. I spend a lot more time outdoors now, but here in Colorado there are lots of reasons to be outdoors. I also drive a lot more. I hated driving back home, but now I love it, I'm not really sure why! My "eh" has gone away, but when i go home it all comes back!
I've changed a lot in more meaningful ways, but I think that's mainly due to being married and having a baby on the way, and less about living in the US.

Hi Everyone, hope all the Canadian VJers are doing well! I had my N400 interview on Friday, which went extremely well I had this incredibly kind man interview and test me, he was a gentle old soul. We spoke alot about Canada, and really he didn't ask me for any of the ton of evidence I brought! I guess I sent in enough with my application. So I have my Oath on Monday at the Philadelphia Constitution Center! Before I take the Oath though, I went back home last weekend and got a rather large Maple Leaf tattooed on my back! LOL I still get home quite a bit, every 2 months or so. I'm happy that my immigration journey will be officially over Monday, so long USCIS!!
-
I stopped saying "EH" as much... my friends and family back home point out I rarely say it anymore!

Sears does Canada size passport photos, I got mine renewed last year and it was great. Canada actually sent them back because my forehead was shiny, so I went back to Sears and they re-did them at no cost. Just go to Sears and tell them you need Canada sized, it's no big deal.
-
Good Luck today JillA
Thank you so much, it went great! I passed, and he asked me the exact same questions you got - same form I guess!! It was way easier than i thought. Also, I brought SO MUCH evidence of my marriage, etc. and he didn't even ask me for anything! He just went by what was in my file that I already sent in.
I take my oath on June 4th at the Philadelphia Constitution Center I can get a passport same day as well!! I'm so relieved.
-
Congrats Beth and Billy! That is great news. May I ask how you got your passport so quickly? I have my interview tomorrow, getting nervous!

If bio was only a couple of days ago, you have to give it time. Once the fingerprints get approved, then you get put in line for an interview but depending on what office you are going to it may be busier and take longer, etc. Since your bio was a few days ago you need to take a deep breath & relax! Nothing out of the ordinary there. Give it time to clear your prints.

Hello
Congratulations at least you almost there.
I dont know if i should panic since i havent received any cofirmation or interview letter
Have you received a biometrics appt yet?
-
Got my interview letter today, it's on May 25th at 3pm!! I'm so excited
-
I have a question too, I should be getting my interview letter soon. When you go to your interview, do you get sworn in right away? Or do you get another letter in the mail to come back? I am asking because I have some travel plans next month and the month after (outside the country) and am worried I will have to turn in my green card at the interview.

I received this today:
Testing and Interview
Your N400, APPLICATION FOR NATURALIZATION is now scheduled for interview. You will receive a written notice with a time and place for your interview. You should receive this notice within 14 days. If you do not receive this notice within 14 days from April 16, 2012, please call customer service at 1-800-375-5283 for further assistance. If you move, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address.
So does anyone know if you take the Oath at the interview? What happens exactly? And do you write the test at the interview?
-
I had my bio today, it went well. Had to wait over an hour though. Wonder how long now until I get an interview date?
-
I received my bio appt today, it's for April 9
-
The thing I would like to know is, we paid $680.00 which included biometrics! If some of us don't get called for bio as we did it last year, do we get the bio fee back!? I doubt it, but we should!!
-
That is CRAZY! Not much organization there, LOL

NOA was dated March 2, and check cashed March 5. I can't believe how fast I got it!? I did sent it next-day air to Dallas.
Added RIDION to the list. Good luck.
JillA- What is the Priority date on your NOA? to add it to the list. BTW, that was fast!

Kimbear, are you sending in originals of anything? I really don't want to send in my son's original birth certificate, if it's going to take a year to process! I don't want to be without it for a whole year Would a good quality photocopy be acceptable do you think? Also, what are you going to do for your baby's photo? Obviously it won't meet the specific criteria that Canada has for photos, I hope they are more lenient for children?
