  1. Hi,

Yes you can. Both my husband and I have made trips back and forth across the atlantic since applying for our visa. He's here at the moment!

Neither one of us has experienced problems. Although when visiting the USA I've taken masses of evidence to prove I'm not intending to do anything other than have a vacation with my husband, letter from employer, bank statements, even the deeds to my house! However, apart from the normal questionning at immigration I've never been asked to show any documentation. However, it did feel reassuring to know that I had documentation had they asked.

Best of luck and enjoy your visits.

  2. Dear Whidbeygirl,

Just checked in this morning to VJ and I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. Times like this are never easy - I hope it helps to know that your FFFF friends are thinking about you and supporting you at this difficult time.

    And to Mumtaz,

I read your message with tears in my eyes. I am so sorry that this had to happen. Sometimes miscarriages have no explanation and it certainly is nothing you did, so please don't blame yourself. I wish you a speedy recovery and much love.

  3. Hi, just called NVC tonight US time and was shocked when the operator told me that they need my original BC and MC.. Well, we sent certified copy from issuing entity so there shouldn't be any problem with that.. So I told her that those are certified copy from registry and civilize office in my country (BC) and also from the court (MC). She put those informations on their computer so the reviewer/supervisor can look at those docs again carefully. The funny thing, on the back part of our MC, there's a red seal from the court.. it is obviously a certified copy, but I think he/she forgot to look at the back page..

I hope he/she will continue reviewing my docs as soon as he/she see the information on their system and have a case complete this week.

Good luck to all of us!

    Hi there,

I wouldn't worry too much about this, I had a similar thing happen to me.

They did not recognise my Certified copy of my birth certificate and were going to send me an RFE. Fortunately like you, I had called and managed to catch it in time before they put the file in pending, and they referred it to a supervisor. The supervisors are obviously more knowledgable as within two days our case was complete. I think the same will happen to you - fingers crossed.

Hi thanks for sharing your experience.. it's a relief for me.. I'll call them again tomorrow early in the morning just to make sure about that.. Do you think I need to speak to a supervisor who's reviewing my docs? I don't know if the operator will allow me to speak to a supervisor, since it's not a payment error problem. Did you spoke to a supervisor?

I asked on two occasions to speak to a supervisor, but although they tried to connect me there wasn't one available.

However, I think they work quite quickly so you should hear something in the next couple of days. That last part of the NVC process I found very stressful so I know how you're feeling! Keep the faith, you're very near the end now.

  5. AVR has just confirmed it - CASE COMPLETE AS AT 14TH MAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

One hugh happy dance coming from the UK :dance::dance::dance::dance:

You go dvrjwh!! Congratulations!!

Now it's time to bug 'em for an interview. :star:

Congratulations you almost done with this journey.

Can i ask something about the process of medical that you've been through? Specially with the vaccines?

Thank you and your response can help a lot on my part.

    thank you so much.

    Hi there,

Thanks for your congrats, it does feel good to have come so far so quickly. It hopefully means I'll be leaving by the end of September, which was what we'd planned and hoped for but were realistically thinking it would be much later.

As far the medical is concerned, I haven't had mine yet, but I have already had the vaccinations required. Got those done in April in advance. I'm hoping for a July interview with the medical probably in June. Will keep you all posted.

    Best wishes to all

  6. Thanks everyone for your good wishes. I must say it was touch and go for a day or so when they couldn't recognise my birth certificate as being the correct one and getting the RFE!

Hubby arrives tomorrow for a couple of weeks  so I'm looking forward to not being consumed by this process for a while.

Have a great weekend everyone, lets hope next week brings some great news for all of us Lucky February Filers.

  7. Thanks Remo28

I'm so glad yours was sorted out. Haven't heard anything yet - it went to the supervisor on Tuesday 12th so if they are as fast for me as they were for you, I might hear something soon.

I have put together a package, showing my "Short" original version of my birth certificate together with another Certified copy of my "long" version so that they can see the comparison. I've also spoken to Her Majesties General Register Office this morning and they are sending me an email of confirmation that the Certified Long Copies, come in A4 format. This is what I believe is causing the confusion.

I think I might send this today by DHL which I hope will clarify the situation.

Hopefully it will get resolved soon.

    Best wishes to everyone!

  8. Thanks SirJon, I appreciate your reply.

I'm going to try and talk to a supervisor later this evening and see whether I can get any further information.

If not, I think I will forward to them tomorrow via DHL the original of my Short birth cert, together with another copy of the Certified Long one, so that they can make the comparison. I also have a form from GRO which they sent back with my certs which I could include which would add weight to the fact that the Certified copy was ordered via them.

It seems such a strange thing for an RFE!!

  9. Hi everyone,

We've just received an RFE for the DS 230 package as they are saying that my Certified Long Copy of my Birth Certificate is not the long copy

It IS the long copy!!! I explained that to an operator and she has referred it to a supervisor and told us to wait 15 days. I can't believe they've never seen one of these before?? Maybe I was just unlucky and got a new employee. Do things take long when they get to the Supervisor?

I was thinking of sending over my original short copy so that they can compare the difference. Having checked with my mother, she confirmed she was only given a short copy way back in 1958!! Therefore I had to apply to the UK General Register Office to get certified copy of long version.

Apart from that, we could have got case complete these week and stood a chance of a June interview.

    Thanks,

  10. Oh what a nightmare!

Called the AVR this morning and got the dreaded RFE message regarding my DS 230.

I've called NVC just now and spoken to an operator who has said that I hadn't sent the "long" version of my birth certificate. I actually have sent the Certified Long Version. I've explained this to her and she has referred it to a supervisor and said call back in 10-15 days. :crying::crying::crying:

I wonder how long this will take?? The good news is that the remainder of the DS 230 package must have been OK.

Trying to look on the bright side here .

  11. bad news everyone, I have an RFE! screwed up on age section. all the places she lived since 16. so just need to get the checklist letter and remailed the DS-230. So close......

    Hi Kevin,

So sorry to hear of the RFE, that's the one question I've been worried about since reading about someone who had an RFE for answering the question in the same way I did.

However, it's a quick error to correct, so it won't delay you much. Good luck for the coming week.

  12. Good morning everyone,

I called the AVR this morning and the message said:

"The NVC has received the checklist letter response on 6th May ..." This is referring to our DS 230. I know via an operator that it was delivered on 4th May and it showed up on their system on 5th May.

Does the fact that the AVR says 6th May mean that someone has picked up the file and is reviewing it??

I sure hope so and am praying there isn't an RFE!!!

  13. Many congratulations Carlish. We are both so happy for you and your husband. It's a very happy day to have our first Case Complete.

And thank you for such a gracious post. It has helped tremendously to be part of this group, the stress is unbelievable and only those of us who are in this situation can truly understand how it feels. And we must remember we are the lucky ones, our progress is so much faster than many others or what I thought it would be!!

The best decision we made was to come to this forum and decide to go it alone and not employ a lawyer. The support from you guys is fantastic and very much appreciated.

Best wishes to everyone and good luck to us all going forward!!

  14. Hi there,

My DS 230 got delivered at 11.36 am this morning US time!!!!!!:dance::dance:

Thank heavens for that - one less thing to worry about - the NVC AVR and USPS certainly put John and I through some worry this weekend.

So glad to hear from Kevin and DesiDon that their RFE's were false too. I'm sure VJ'ers coming along after us will find our experiences useful and will learn from it.

Chrissy and Ben - fingers crossed for your early case complete once they have the police certificate - I'm sure it will come through very quickly once that has been received.

Best wishes for a successful week for all of us FFF's

  15. Hi everyone,

False RFE here too. Just awaiting ds 230 like for Kevin. Thank heavens for that.

Good luck Desidon, hope it's the same result for you too.

Now I'm trying to get my ds 230 delivered from USPS. They wont accept my instruction to redeliver - only from NVC. The guy at NVC said they would take care of this for me, but it leaves me worrying that my package might never get delivered.

    Fingers crossed!

  16. Good morning FFF's,

I love whidbeygirls new name for us lol.

Mumtaz try the attached link. I found this really helpful for the ds 230. You should find the answers there.

    http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/DS-230

Good luck to everyone this week, may those of us with RFE's get them sorted quickly and anyone awaiting NOA2's receive them this week.

It's a public holiday here in the UK, got an extra day off work so I'm going to call USPS and try to get my DS 230 delivered to the NVC, its taken over a week and then they attempted delivery on Saturday!!!! Couldn't get a signature so have sent it back to the post office. Would you believe it. As if this isn't stressful enough lol

Anyway positive thoughts for all of us. Lets hope Carlish and Chrissy & Ben get the first case completes for the FFF's.

    Best wishes as always
