  1. Hi everyone,

Haven't been by for a while, so congratulations to everyone for the progress you all have made. Whidbeygirl, I'll be thinking of you on 23rd and know that everything will turn out just fine. Congrats in advance to Mumtaz and Ani on the arrival of your beautiful babies.

Well, I've had the most frantic three weeks since leaving work at the end of August, clearing my house getting it ready to be rented out. Now, I'm almost done and finalising my packing. Will be leaving for the USA tomorrow morning! I can't believe it, after all this time I finally get to go!!!

Best wishes to everyone and one things for sure - by the end of 2009, we should all be with our loved ones and the end of this painful separation period will be over.

Take care everyone, I'm sure we'll all be meeting up again for Removal of Conditions.

    Thanks dvrjwh,

I hope you had a safe flight  because I had a terrible experience going through London Heathrow... All the best to you too, and why leaving us so early? It's true that everyone of us is busy after arriving in US with settling up our lives and getting things up to normal, but our thread will always be OUR thread - with all the friends and best advices we've got to get here on VJ :)

Yes, Heathrow was truly awful. I don't know why they were so difficult. It started with a patronising check in girl (unusual for Virgin, they are usually very nice) and then followed with being stopped and searched at every opportunity. Never had this before so it was a bit of a surprise, although I understand that security is important, the bit that made me smile was that on three separate occasions I was asked to remove my shoes!! I was wearing flip flops for goodness sake!! All the while, people with boots and trainers were wandering through not being stopped. Strange.

POE wasn't great - took over 3 hours as there were not enough staff available (maybe something to do with being a saturday, I don't know), staff were not particularly helpful or friendly. Then we had a 5 hour drive home from the airport. However, feeling much better now I've slept off the jet lag.

I've chalked it all up to experience as being here with my husband makes it all worthwhile!:dance::dance:

  3. More detail....

    Hew was asked:

    My name: Correct

    My employer: Correct

    When we met: Correct

Where I worked when me met: Incorrect

Can I see wedding pics: Looked at them and gave them back.

The issue was I worked for Company A from Jan 2002-April 2007 and then I started working with them again in December 2008 and still work for them. He messed up the date and thought I worked there until April 2008 so it would mean that I was working for them when we met.

The man (who didn't give his name) told SO he had paperwork to complete and then he would call him. SO asked if he should sit and wait and the man said, "No you are free to leave."

SO said the man was not friendly at all and asked questions very fast. When SO answered incorrectly, he said, "At the same place?" and SO said, "Yes she worked there and was terminated when she was visiting and we got married." I worked at Company B and was terminated from that company when I was visiting, I started working for Company A a few weeks after I returned home.

    :crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying:

I'm sure this is just a short delay, not anything to worry about. Sounds like your husbands interviewer was quite intimidating and trying to trip him up. I imagine they have more than enough detail on file to realise your case is bona fide.

I'm sure you'll get some good news very soon.

    Take care.

    Hi guys,

Got the visa on Friday. Took less than 2 hours to go through the process at the embassy, so we were back out in London by mid morning friday on a sunny day. Made the most of the day by shopping, eating out at Nando's and generally enjoying being free of the pressure.

Thanks to everyone for the advice and support - good luck Imaisha and everyone with August interviews.

    Best wishes.

  5. Hi Guys,

Just stopped by to let you know we had our interview today at the London embassy and were granted our visa. It should be arriving anytime in the next 3-5 working days, so we should have it in hand by friday next week at the latest.

Such a great weight has been lifted off our shoulders, we feel totally elated today.

Thanks to everyone of the February filers who have contributed to this thread and shared information. We are very pleased that we have been able to save a financial fortune by not dealing with lawyers and have done it ourselves with the help of the many contributors to this thread and the VJ website.

John is still here in the UK for another 8 days, then it's all systems go here until POE on 19th Sept.

    Best wishes to everyone

  6. Good (very early) Morning!

Just got off the phone with Ben... he is already finished with his interview and...

:star::star: HE GOT THE VISA!! :star::star:

We are both so happy... it is such an amazing feeling, and I know that all of you will be experiencing it very soon.

Thanks to all of you for your constant support and guidance through this very long process. We never could have done it without you and this thread.

I only got to talk to Ben for a second, so I don't really have any details about the interview yet. As soon as I get some more information, I will let all of you know!

    Yayyyyy :D

    Congratulations!!!

Wishing you well for your new life together.

I haven't been around much lately, been waiting patiently for the 31st of this month for my interview. Great to see all the good news on this thread. Fantastic to see that all FFFF's have now got NOA2's. Well done Whidbeygirl for keeping the stats, I know we all really appreciate that very much.

One thing I've noticed lately. Why is it that K1's get interview dates so quickly? My case was complete in mid-May and I will have waited two and a half months to get to the interview. I know some of you will be waiting even longer than that for your interview dates. K1's seem to get their dates so much faster!!! Maybe we should have done things the K1 way instead of getting married first and then applying

Does anyone have any idea why being a fiance is prioritised over being a spouse?

  7. Hi everyone

Just a quick note to let you know I got my visa!!!! It should be mailed in a few days. I'll post a more detailed embassy review as soon as I have time but for now I'm just relaxing with my husband - finally! It was a challenging experience - lots of nerves and a surprising amount of questions at the interview, but we got there and I can't tell you what a relief it is, I feel so much calmer now and ready to prepare for my departure.

Good luck to those with interviews coming up - I promise I'll do my full review as soon as poss.

    Bobbe

    Fantastic, congratulations!!

Interested to hear about the questions. But enjoy time with hubby first.

Mine's due over on 18th in plenty of time for the interview. We're just double checking required documentation this weekend - don't want to get caught short!!

    Best wishes to everyone.

  8. I just came back from my local DHL office. I went there to get some packing materials, which they didn't have. The man at the desk gave me a quote for the dimensions of my package. 10x50x65(pictures in frames) it would cost 97 pounds. He then told me that there is a company that buys space on DHL flights. And that they had a website for parcel shipping and it was a lot cheaper than regular DHL although it really is still DHL. He went to this website and got a quote with the same dimensions and it would cost 37 pounds. Now that is cheaper. He told me that you type in all of your shipping details and then print all of the shipping labels. They will come to you to pick up the parcels, or you can drop it off at your local DHL. Imagine that.

    The website is

    www.parcelmonkey.co.uk

    Hope this helps someone.

    Brilliant!!

Thank you so much, I'm just starting to think about what I'm going to take with me and this will be very helpful.

  9. Hi guys,

I rang the extortion line last week to get a reference no. to email the embassy. Sent the email last thursday and havent had a reply yet.

Is it normal to wait a week for a reply?

    Thanks,

i e-mailed them over a month ago and still haven't had a reply.! im not sure it costs as much as it states to call them, i called them from an o2 prepay mobile and was on the phone for a good 5+ mins and it cost me just over £2 in credit which would have been great if i hadn't put £30 on the phone expecting a huge charge..lol

Sods law, having posted this question today, the reply came this afternoon!!

Glad to hear about the mobile charge not being to bad, I had to phone from my mobile as my landline wouldn't connect. I remembered afterwards I had set it up to ban the kids from dialing these high priced lines

  10. hi everyone! my wife is getting her medical exam today...did anyone's spouse get their medical yet?

    Hi Kevin,

I had my medical on 15th June and my records were sent to the Embassy on 18th June. I was told I'd passed on the day and haven't heard from them since, so I'm assuming blood work and chest x-ray were ok.

I've been told that the clinic (Knightsbridge Doctors in London) get back to you if there is a problem, so I think everything is ok

Just waiting patiently now until the interview on 31st July - it seems so far away!

  11. Yeah, wow. Firstly, ghosttridder...don't give silly advice on such an important and serious thread. Your thread is where you can complain about your situation (which IMO is your fault) but not here. Your comment about USCIS lovers doesn't add anything to this thread or help the OP.

LOLZ your opinion is ill. and your advice is ill-advised. dont listen to these people they have no idea how wrong they can be. Get an opinion from a lawyer.

if something goes wrong, these people will be the first to point fingers directly at you. judgemental and too critical because they have so much faith in the system. look at what the system is making you go through.. tsk tsk tsk so sad

Actually, the former poster had very good advice. I get the feeling that you're only upset about his comment about your situation being your own fault, Ghosttrider. You should be careful not to claim his advice is a bad one when he is only trying to help out the OP here.

    As for the OP;

I have read through a lot of medical posts because I have been wondering about a few things myself and I can not remember a single case of anyone being denied a VISA due to high blood pressure. I'd have your husbands own GP do a test before the interview perhaps, or even state a history of his former check ups and the value of his blood pressure tests and bring this with you. It's even mentioned here somewhere how the situation itself can make the blood pressure rise. I can only wish you good luck and keep your spirits up! I know it's tough being parted from the one you love, but hang in there!

    Kristin

I would like to thank everyone who was helpful and supportive. Ghosttrider, I am sorry that you are so bitter, and I hope you can get things resolved for you.

Please look at this as a blessing in disguise. I know it doesn't seem like it at the moment as it's causing a delay to your journey. BUT, blood pressure that high is dangerous and as high blood pressure doesn't always show itself with tangible symptoms, you often don't know you have it until it causes major issues.

I have high blood pressure too. I only had it diagnosed when visiting my doctor for a totally different reason and she decided to check it.

I'm on permanent medication which keeps it at a nice safe level. Fortunately I knew this prior to my medical and was able to supply a letter from my doctor stating that it was stable. Medical was no problem as a result.

Once your husbands GP gets things sorted, he can provide a letter stating that everything is stable and they will accept that. Best wishes to you both and hopefully with a GP's appointment tomorrow already scheduled, you are on the way to sorting this out.

  12. If there is anything on the medical that causes concern, Knightsbridge will contact you directly before you attend the interview (assuming, as is the case for you, you have the medical well before the interview). No surprises on the day! If anything is wrong, you would expect to hear from them within a few days of the medical. They should have told you this at your medical -- we certainly were.

Thanks for the reply. I gave up smoking years ago but still wondered whether the xray would be clear!!

  13. Just got my interview date via email: August 4th 8am!!!

Totally was not expecting it! Thought at best I could start bugging them at the end of next week.

They gave me the whole spiel about waiting til the second week of next month of course though I knew it might be sooner.

I never thought I'd get it just two days after my case completed though!

Funny thing is my K-3 still hasn't been scheduled yet! Definitely not a time saver...

    Congratulations :dance::dance::dance:

  14. Hi,

I had my medical on June 15th at Bentinck Mansions and have had email confirmation that my results have been forwarded to the Embassy on June 18th.

Does anyone know whether that means that everything is ok with regards to the blood tests and chest X-ray?

What would happen if something showed up on either blood work or x-ray - are they obliged to let you know or would you have to attend the interview and then be denied on medical grounds?

Apologies if this has been addressed before, couldn't see the answer anywhere on VJ.

    Thanks.

  15. Thanks for this info! I see you had your wife with you - did you have to notify the embassy in advance of this? My hubbie will be with me and I'm not sure if and how I need to notify the embassy.

I did, I called them (in London) and they gave me the email code and told me to email them asking. In the email, I explained that she was in London and would like to accompany me. After a few days I got a reply stating that she had been added to the access list and requested that she brought her passport. I took a printout of the email with me as well as my letter, this helped as the initial inspectors outside didn't have the proper list with them (I think they only had the tourist visa list). The phone staff in London seemed very helpful and friendly.

Thanks BobbeD for asking this question and to graham_ni for the answer. Hubby will be coming with me in July to my interview and now I know what to do! :star:

    Thanks again!

  16. whoa. six shots? i thought under 65 the only things required are Tdap and MMR. i gathered that from here: http://london.usembassy.gov/cons_new/visa/...V018a_Oct08.pdf am i missing something?

No don't worry your not missing anything. I took the stance of, "Now lets see, in the future its going to be a case of.....US = pay privately......UK = NHS". Since I have been paying for these services all these years through my wages and not really used it all that much (touch wood), I thought, "what the heck, may as well make the most of it while I am still here" :innocent:

Therefore I had the following injections while they were free.... better to be safe than sorry and I am now immune to pretty much anything

    • Mumps, Measles, Rubella

    Polio,Tetanus and Diphtheria Toxoids

    Influenza Type B (HIB)

    Hepatitis B

    Hepatitis A (cost me £25)

    Influenza

I have also seen my dentist to, but thankfully I didnt need any work done :D

    Hi wildcat,

Thank you so much for all the information. I'm going for my medical on Monday 15th at 1pm, so your posting came at just the right time for me.

I too got my jabs done on the NHS, had the Tdap and MMR (which were the only two that were compulsory for my age bracket) and got a letter from my doctor for a question I ticked "yes" to on the questionnaire, so I think I've got all my bases covered.

I must admit I am a bit nervous and will be glad to get it over with. Next step is the interview on 31st July, then a new life to look forward to

    Thanks again.

  17. For CR1 IV packet submitting without PCC

    Hi All,

I like to have a quick suggestion from you guys, I have all the documents of my wife except the regional PCC.

    which means I have:

    - DS-230 form(with just signed on 1st page)

    - 4 Passport photo

    - Marriage Certificate (Orig)

    - Birth Cirtificate(Orig with translation)

    - Copy of Passport

    and missing document is

    - Regional PCC

As my wife just received her passport and to get PCC it will take another couple weeks, and if I wait for that I may miss interview schedule in July 2nd week.

    My question is:

Can I send in the documents that I have with me and mention on the cover letter that I'll show original PCC at the time of interview or something?

Has anybody done something like this? Is it possible to do like this?

Please Advice... Because I dont want to wait one more month, its already delayed due to passport.

    Thanks in Advance.

    NO you cant

its a requirement that u send PCC with the DS-230 package ,

if u didnt then NVC will issue u an RFE (Rquest for further evidence ) and that will delay yur case even after July in some cases ..please be patience and have your wife get her PCC and send the complete requirements

    Good Luck

I agree, I think you can do this for the K visas where they seem to provide most of their documentation to the embassy but for the CR1 you need to provide it to NVC before they will complete your case.

I would advise sending the whole package together with all the documentation they require.

  18. Thank you so much we are delighted to have our approval. It has been a long time waiting and to think that we have that behind us is so wonderful.

People here on visajourney receive such support from others they have never seen. It is indeed a worthwhile community and I believe reflects US immigration in that we have people from all over the world contributing and helping one another to obtain their common goals to be united with their loved ones.

Thank yall (did I say it right?) and visa journey for enabling such a common support forum.

    Arthur and Roberta

    Congratulations  Wonderful news :star:

I wish you a speedy journey through the next phases.

I hope you don't mind me asking, did you have to have the USCIS interview you mentioned earlier or did the approval come through without it? I know I was amongst many interested to know what a USCIS interview was all about!

    Kind regards,
