wow...thats deep. thats something he will have to decide on his own. you cant put yourself in his situation and know the whole deal with how their relationship is on that level. i would tell him to just go with his own instincts.

Sure thing! You will still have about 2 months before receiving your fiance packet with the open appointment letter and instructions. The consulate sends it to both the beneficiary and the petitioner, but because of the mail system in MX, she may not receive it, so you can scan your appointment letter and email it to her. Or just give it to her in Juarez and wait for her outside while the interview is going on.
yea..its been 3 weeks since i got the letter from nvc. im gonna call cdj this monday. i think i waited long enough to see if they recieved the petition. thanks to everyone for this thread!

Besides hotel stay, airfare, and food. What is the cost of getting the K1 visa? I think there is a 135 fee for the medical. Anything else for the actual visa?
$131 for the visa..thats for each person..so if you got k2's then thats a seperate fee for the visa and the medical as well. and dont forget the passport pics.i been reading the reviews on juarez and everyone suggests that even if you bring your own its best to get them done across the street from the embassy since they prefer those. im gonna do that too just in case. i wanna cover all bases so there wont be any issues.

Did everyone bring an ORIGINAL birth certificate to Juarez? I sent my fiance's original with my I129F submission! So we only have copies. We are just trying to save 30 or 40 dollars, do you think that we should get another original or will the Juarez consulate have it on file? Or better yet, do they even ask for a bc?
Yes, an original and a copy of the birth certificate. Here are the instructions: http://ciudadjuarez.usconsulate.gov/wwwfcdj400.pdf Since you have some time before you receive your Fiancee Packet in the mail, you should have her get another original certificate. With the I-129F submission, you should have only given a copy of any documents (birth/naturalization/citizenship certificates, divorce decrees). I'm not sure if they will have the original you sent, since I've heard that you should not expect to receive anything with the I-129f original submission back to you.
Hope this helps...
thanks for the responces nm123. appreciate it.

does anyone know if cdj requires the k2 child present at the interview?

For the affidavit of support I will send my 2007 w2 and tax return. My question is do I need to send the years prior to that? There will be a fee to reprint my prior w2's so I don't want to pay for them if I don't need them.
i posted this question too a while ago.
you can include the last 3 years if you want to but they only require the one for 07.

Thank you to all:
Great answers and great advice. All the posts here certainly put my mind at ease. I am very glad I found this site. I apologize for the "dumb questions" but I feel everyone is here to help.
A bit about me and my fiance. I live in Vermont.
))) I was an independent construction consultant for several years and supervised constuction of a factory in Ukraine and was there for nearly 2 years. I loved the country and the people. I made many friends, and in Ukraine a "friend" is very special indeed. But I did not meet anyone "special".
I went back in September, 2007 to visit friends and on my way home had an overnight layover in Prague. I was boarding the bus from the airport to downtown Prague and here was this absolutely stunning woman having great difficulty with her baggage getting on the bus. I offered assistance and found she had just arrived on the same plane as I from Odessa! I didn't see her on the plane. I carried her bags to the hotel (what else did I have to do?) She thanked me for carrying her baggage by offering to buy me a coffee which turned into an all night walking/talking tour of Prague and her going to the subway with me in the morning when I returned to the airport. We promised to exchange emails and when I got home there were 3 emails from her! These turned into phone calls every few days, then calls every day, then calls several times a day and I went back to see Alla in Odessa in November.
In January she was going to Kiev for business and I flew there and met Alla at the train! She said "Yes" to my proposal! I had not investigated this whole K-1 visa thing before about November and really don't know much about it. Neither I nor my fiance were "looking" to meet someone when we met, so it isn't something I had checked into.
In 12 days I will return for a week and meet her children and mother (I have talked to them by phone previously) and I have promised to fix her tub/sink faucet in the bathroom which hasn't worked for a long time. Her mother wants me to stay for a MONTH (she has a long list of things to fix)
Anyway, I am very thrilled to have met this wonderful woman and look forward to being together for life. Thanks for all your help and I plan to stay for a long time. I hope someday we can be of assistance to others.
Gary
good luck!

my first packet for the petition included the copy of my fiance's daughters birth certificate and 2 passport fotos. im not sure if its required but i know the name has to be on the i129f for sure. i would include the birth certificate and 2 passport fotos as well just in case. cant help you on your 2nd question. good luck
Child's passport photos and birth certificate are extra expense and superfulous evidence at the petition stage... I would hold back including this because all it serves is to add "noise" in the petition package.
i dunno fwaguy..well atleast in my case it helped since my petition had a mistake on the last names of my fiance's daughter. i had to call uscis and i told them that the birth certificate was included so they can see the correct name on it and they went ahead and fixed it. it will all be included regardless for the interview anyhow so isnt it better to include more than less. i dont think it would hurt the process but thats just my opinion. if i would file again i would include extra stuff. if anything their just not gonna look at it and just leave it in your file.

i paid an agency to file my k1 petition and they made 3 mistakes. they never told me there would be another process coming after the embassy sends out a packet. so i panicked and started calling immigration lawyers. i couldnt afford all the costs along with traveling to see my fiancee so i happen to stumble on to this site and im pretty confident that i have everything ready for the interview process and ready for the aos once that comes along too. so just like everyone else...dont use one and save that money for more important things unless you have certain issues that cant be resolved by yourself that is. good luck.
-
thank god for that. on top of all this k1 process stressing me out now i gotta worry about the interest im gonna accrue with the i.r.s . thanks for the help though people. that was my #1 concern through this whole process.
Sure he can owe taxes for 2007I do owe tax for 2007
I pay monthly installments because at april 17 I did not have 6000 dollars to pay right away
But like the other guys said it is not about do you owe anything
they just want to know do you make those 125%
how much do they charge interest btw?

Hello!
My fiance and I are applying for a K1 visa. I have heard that when he arrives at the airport he should receive a temporary work permit.
I'm just wondering if someone can tell me more about this. How long does the permit last?
What do we need to do to ensure that my fiance can work when he arrives in the US? What do I need to do to ensure that he will continue to be able to work?
Thanks so much!
after your fiancee recieves the visa and enters the u.s you file for adjustment of status . the new fee includes the work permit and advance parole wich lets your fiancee leave the u.s while she awaits her green card.

is there a time limit from the time the consulate sends out the packet that you have to go to the interview? i will have everything ready by then but my finances are gonna tie me up a bit to gather enough money to cover my flight, fiance and her daughters airfare, both their visa fees and medical exam fees and expenses for lodging and food for 3 days. im trying to get a good idea so i dont have to rush.
-
does this mean that you can travel no matter how many times within that time or will more than 1 re entry cause issues?
The AP will say whether it is valid for multiple entries or not.
I don't know where they'll end up placing the stamps though.
My IO at BOS was obviously not sure what this was about, he asked whether I'd gotten married or not and where the 3rd identical copy was etc....
(Like 2 aren't more than enough)
i hope my fiancee doesnt get too hassled. were gonna connect in houston to san francisco so im sure they will know what the AP is. i read a few horror stories about how some can be a bit harsh and harassing.

Does anyone know if there would be any problem if my Mexican fiance is not physically present at her house when they deliver the CDJ packet? We received notice that the application was being mailed to the consulate about 2.5 weeks ago.
Hi there,
Are there any K3 visa filers waiting for your interview in Juarez???
When my wife's case was sent to Juarez it took about a month to get the appointment letter. They will send it to both the Mexican Address and the US address. I dont know if they are backed up or not but our appointment was about a month after we received the letter.
Thanks for the response! Question for you Gaby&Talbert, since you applied for a K3 visa maybe you can help. When you receive the packet from Juarez do we need to send any forms back in order to get an interview? Or do you just get a packet with the interview letter?
Thanks,
-YG
We didnt have to send anything back, only take the items with us to the interview.
hi all.i got a few questions. i got a letter from the visa center on jan 17th saying they will forward my petition to juarez. when should i call to see if it was sent out and will i get a packet myself? and does anyone know if the k2 child has to attend the interview? thanks all.
I called them about 2 weeks after the NVC sent it and they told me when they received it.
i gotta call that 1900 number right?

1. When I originally sent in the 129-F, I put Mexico City as the Consulate, not knowing that Juarez is the one that does fiance visas, will they automatically send it to Juarez. We have received the NO2 approval already and waiting for the next step.
2. When you get on the Juarez website, they are now saying that you have to fill the 156 online, print it and then take it to the Embassy. But there isn't a new one for the 156K. Do we you the 156 online or still the 156K handwritten.
Thanks,
Kyle
Now I see on the website that as of November 1, the DS-156 DOES need to be electronic and it's posted in their site. Since there is no online DS-156K on their site, it would seem it can be handwritten or you can use the link I posted. Good luck
im a bit confused. we havent gotten the packet yet but im trying to prepare for it. do i have to fill out the 156 online but also take a written copy to the interview along with the handwritten 156k?

I just sent out our application today for the K-1 visa.
Any advice to what we should do in order to prepare for the next step while we wait for the notifications? (e.g. additional paper work, etc.)
Thanks
read the guides on here. start preparing for the interview. keep gathering evidence and as others suggested to me...look up the info on the consulates website of where your fiancee will have the interview to see what requierments they have and their process..

thanks rukthur.

when filing for AOS and AP at the same time is there a seperate fee for the ap or just the $1010 for the AOS? thanks all.
-
thanks for that answer. i needed that information myself and thought that the benificiary would only be charged the aos fee and not child.

yes.. go to their website and make sure you have everything they require. also...read the reviews for the juarez consulate on here. i got alot of good tips off those to get an idea of what to do once we get to juarez. for example the passport pics and which place to get your medical at. for the passport pics i read that the embassy is picky if you bring your own and might send you to the place across the street for new ones so better to get them there also and have them just in case their not happy with the ones you got elsewhere. theres alot of usefull info on this site you just have to search. take down notes of everything that relates to juarez you read on here so you wont be thrown any curve balls once your there. good luck!
