  1. we talked to some people here in town about the process and they have said that everyone has to go to the bridge for a stamp that they have to give with the visa

This might really interfere with my plans. I hope it is not true that everyone has to go to a bridge and get a stamp! Diana will hopefully get her visa Wednesday and will be catching a flight on Thursday.

Please, can someone confirm that after receiving the visa stamp in the Mexican passport, you do not need to travel to a bridge to get a stamp?

im hoping we wont have to either. soemone posted a responce saying its only necessary only if el paso will be your point of entry. its about 40 minutes from the consulate and would run about 50 dollars in cab fare im figuring.

  2. hi all. we arrived in juarez this morning. were staying at these apartments called Daniel's. were paying 55 a night. its a 1 bedroom with its own kitchen and its got all the stuff needed for the kitchen. we decided to go shopping for the week so we wont have to go out, only for the medical exam and the interview. hopefully we can have the results in by thursday and head there the same day. we talked to some people here in town about the process and they have said that everyone has to go to the bridge for a stamp that they have to give with the visa. i guess we will find out if we will need to do this since someone responded about this question and told me that its only necessary if you intend to go into the states through El Paso. Well... I'll keep posting new info as I get it. There is a lot of military present here so we will be staying in the apartment. greatgate...your fiancee needs to bring with her her latest vaccination proof with her to the exam so they can add that info to the medical form. i forgot wich one but she will have to tell em. that way when she files for aos and have to be transferred by a consulate approved surgeon or something like that. if she doesnt have that info put on by the people at the exam then she will need to take them in the u.s

  3. ahh. getting nervous now. tommorow i take my flight to monterey mexico to see my fiance and my new daughter. saturday we will be taking a flight to juarez. monday we take the medical exam and wait for the results since its about 4 days for the kids tb test ,supposedly thats what delays it so long. I am hoping that Thursday we can head to the consulate for the interview. I want to thank everyone for their answers since I got here. This site has helped alot since I started this process and it saved me from going through a lawyer :). Wish us luck.

  4. There is a button at the bottom that says GENERATE FAMILY DUPLICATE which can be used for kids' forms.

    1. After you finish the online DS-156 for yourself click CONTINUE, then PRINT (change # of copies to 2).

    2. Once it prints, click BACK on your browser to go back to the online form, then click GENERATE FAMILY DUPLICATE. This fills in some common fields like (last name, address, etc) and you fill out the rest.

    3. When done, again, click CONTINUE, then PRINT (2 copies).

    Repeat for each child.

thank you all for the answers. feel more at ease now:)

  5. Fill in duplicate and do not sign form DS-156 (2 identical copies)

If your unmarried children will apply with you, 2 identical unsigned copies of the DS-156 for each child.

The thing about it is that the DS-156 only asks for your Name, DOB, and place of birth. And it also has a section where you fill in the names of children that will be accompanying you. I think instead of printing 2 copies for your fiancee, print 4 copies if you bring 1 child, 6 copies for 2 children, and so on and so forth. But just to be safe you might as well make a completely separate DS-156 for each child also. And I do not see anywhere on the form where it asks for passport information. Just first, middle, and last name. Date of birth and place of birth. Then there is a section that only married couples would fill out, then there is a section about children that will accompany their parents. Nothing more than that but Juarez sent me a form that expired 5/31/2004 so maybe the updated version is different.

thanks for the reply gate, but the form that you mean is ds156k. the ds156 is the one that generates the bar code. thats the one that has passport info and so on and i have had different answers to this. so i guess my best bet is to just do 2 sets, 1 with mothers info and the other with the childs. i see that you are going to juarez at the same time. we will be there this monday for the medical exam and most likely once the results are in we should be ready for the interview thursday or friday. good luck to yall.

  6. ok...so basically for the children its just identical copies of the ones with the mothers information right not their own info ..their names passport number etc...? thats the part thats got me confused. if its the kids info on the forms or the mothers?

You need to print 2 copies for each applicant, with their own info. (name, passport, number, etc). Other information, such as address, date for the trip, purpose of the trip, etc., will be the same as the mother's.

    Hope this helps!

thanks for clarifying that eric and teresa. thats what i needed to know.

  7. im paying 600 pesos a night for a 2 bedroom apartment with kitchen and internet access and its walking distance from the consulate.

i posted this on another section of vj but i hope someone can help on this thread

I got the packet from the consulate in juarez mexico and it states for each umarried child to have 2 copies completed in full for each child. since a barcode is generated does this mean i just make copies of the original one with the barcode or do I have to fill out another form with a new set of barcode. my 2nd question is for the copies of the child, do we fill in the ds156 with the mothers info or the childs info? this has me a bit confused since they werent clear on the instructions. im thinking the copies of the childs ds156 should be duplicates of the mothers original form with her information. am i right?

  9. What do you guys make of the crisis in Ciudad Juarez? The police chief recently got up and left because his life was in danger.
Earlier this week, hitmen left two bodies, their hands tied behind their backs, at the entrance of the city. Police Chief Emilio Pérez, whose force has had two officers killed, was threatened by phone and told that he would be next. Within hours, the six remaining police officers quit their jobs. Mr. Pérez drove across the border and asked for political asylum.

There were 30 murders in the last week. I know it is between the Mexican government and drug cartels but I am really concerned because my SO will be traveling to Juarez alone.

as long as shes not hanging out afterwards i dont think she will be in danger. my fiance is from monterey so the murders of officials there are nothing new. if your not involved in that stuff or hang out in the wrong places you should be ok. were not going anywhere that week that we are there. were renting an apartment and im gonna go shopping for the food and just crash there.

  10. Wednesday will be 3 weeks since Juarez has received my stuff. I hope they get p3 to me by the end of next week cause I'm planning for a trip to Juarez the 31st.

I am posting this question for a friend of mine. When they called the consulate in Juarez they were told they had to wait for Packet 3 to arrive and then also for Packet 4 which has their appointment date. They are applying for the fiance visa. I know before you could go to the consulate for the interview once you know the consulate has your paperwork. However, when her fiance called the Consulate, he was told he had to wait for Packet 3 and then also for Packet 4 which would have his interview date and time. Did Juarez change its policy?

you will only get one packet. In my case my fiance in mexico never recieved a packet. I received it instead. It contained instructions on wich docs needed, medical exam info and where to go , and the invitation letter that you will need to bring too. So if the person in mexico does not recieve anything dont have them worry. The u.s citizen will get it. They can have everything prepared before that arrives so you wont waste no time. All you need is the invitation and you can go any day of the week.

oops not any day...monday through friday.

  11. I plan to fly my fiancee from Acapulco to Juarez on Monday, the 31st of March. That is two weeks from this Monday. But I still haven't gotten packet 3 so hopefully it comes soon.

gate..dont forget to send her the invitation that you will recieve in the packet. she will need to show that when she gets there.

  12. You only have to do this if El Paso will be your POE. It does say on the packet from the consulate which bridge to go to but again it is only if El Paso will be your POE.

thanks for clearing that up gaby and talber. i was a lil confused on that. was getting worried bout one more thing i wasn't gonna be prepared for. 3 more weeks and were off to juarez!!

  13. i got a question about this point of entry stamp. i read some reviews that people have to go a few miles out of juarez to get this stamp after they get the visa. does anyone know if this is required even though you wont be leaving mexico that day. btw, my fiance and her daughter will be leaving 2 months after they get the visa.

  14. I believe torrent has been in Juarez since Wednesday or Thursday. I hope he comes back with good news and good tips. My SO will be going to Juarez as soon as we get packet 3 which should be next week if I am lucky, or the week after.

yea..every tip helps. my girls app is on april 11th. im already reading up on the aos stage. damn im gonna be broke for the next few months!

  15. My and my fiance and our daughter are here in Juarez now.

So far everything is going good. Thankfully I set aside about a week and a half to get all of this worked out.

The one question that I have right now is whether or not the visa interview fee that we have to pay at banamex is poor passport or per application?

Do I have to pay 260$ or the $131 ?

The visa is a K-1 visa with a k-2 visa for our daughter.

The letter that was sent along didn't make it very clear though, just said that a fee needed to be paid.

    Thanks in advance.

If anyone has any questions about Juarez and such let me know please and I would be more then happy to relate my experiences and answer any questions.

im going to juarez in april also with my fiance and daughter. its a seperate visa that will be issued to the child so you have to pay 131 x2 . you need to have 1 packet also for the child. so basically every fee x2,exam, and visa. child will also need her own affidavit and own set of 156,156k docs.

  16. If your fiance in Mexico has a computer with internet access you can also use MSN messenger, yahoo messenger, or any of those other messenger services to talk for free.

In the beginning, my husband and I would talk with calling cards, but then he got internet access in his house and it was much better. I am not kidding, we would talk for hours at a time using a headset. We even had webcams so we would see each other. The longest we ever talked on there was about 8 hours, nonstop AND I AM NOT KIDDING!!!

Any of you can use this method to communicate as long as you both have computers with internet access. The headsets you can buy for $15 at any office store. We used MSN messenger and it worked great! :)

yea...using the internets cheap thats for sure but i cant sit in front of pc that long and she works all day in front of one too so she wont either. damn..eight hours.. your butt musta gone numb ucla.

  17. I did not provide a statement from my employer because I am unemployed. However, I forgot to include proof that I am a full-time student to my SO because I didn't think I had to. But I did work in 2007 and provided my SO with the tax return from that year. Do you think that they will deny my SO a visa because I didn't include a statement from employer? I also have my dad as a co-sponsor and he is a lot higher than the poverty level so I do not think lack of employer letter or proof I am in school is enough to deny her the visa? What do you think?

i think you'll be ok as long as your dad did the affidavit and meets the poverty guidelines. If you feel unsure about the proof that your a student you still have time to send her anything else you think will help since its an open appointment with no date set.
