  1. To all Filipinas who got married in the US, did you give giveaways to your guests? If you did, what did you give? How popular are wedding giveaways there? And to those who are still yet to get married in the US, do you plan to give wedding favors?

I had been planning to purchase native stuffs for this occasion but I don't think I still have enough time to do this. Gusto ko sana i-personalize ang giveaways kaya I wanted to make them myself. Ok lang ba kung madami-dami native stuffs dalhin ko?

    -Riza

    Hi Riz,

It's really a good idea to buy native items there in the Philippines for your wedding favors. I was planning to do that too before flying out but since I was traveling alone I did not able to. When I was in Manila I saw this native hand-painted fan made of bamboo and I really wanted to have that as my giveaway for the wedding. Unfortunately as I said I did not able to because I was bringing a lot of things with me during my flight. So we settled for those small favor tin cans we bought at Michaels & other knick-knacks. Well, it was fun but I really wished the wedding favors we gave was something that reflect my Filipino tradition...

  2. Hi sis & to all the VJ members who's reading this...! i don't have any answer with ur questions, but since i'm still waiting for our interview sched (with my son), i wanna know what's with the document verification ba? may kulang ba sa papers mo? i just wanna know coz we might have the same problems during the interview, so i can prepare na. in my case kasi, the NSO copy of my birth cert.is very dirty, as in madumi ang copy that u can hardly read some of the data.according to them wala daw silang magagawa since, yun na ang naka save sa system nila, what i did was, i got a copy my birth. cert. from the CIvil Registrar's office & attached it w/ the NSO's copy, coz this is what i did w/ the DFA when i had my passport & likewise with the NVC together w/ my DS -230 form...do u think would this be okey?

    Hi there,

That is an excellent idea so the one who will examine your birth certificate can compare the 2 copies of this document, the one NSO-authenticated & the other one in LCR copy. Anyway, the birth certificate printed out in security paper from NSO is taken from the scanned birth certificate from your Local Civil Registrar's office, so both the documents are the same except that they put document ID on the authenticated one. Maybe at the time your BC was scanned it wasn't done properly so you got hardly readable output.Hope soon you'll have your interview schedule. Goodluck!

  3. I WAS GOING TO GET A NBI CLEARANCE AND I WANT TO KNOW WHAT I WILL BE USING MY MARRIED SURNAME OR THE SINGLE SURNAME,,

DO I NEED TO DO IT TOO IN GETTING POLICE CLEARNCE,PLS HELP ME OUT :help::help::help::help::help::help::help:

Use your married name since this name will be cross-referenced at the time you submit the clearance on your interview...You must be cleared from any criminal record/s under your married name & not in your maiden name...

  4. I Sent the huge packet of I-134 and all supporting documentation to Shuyan Fed Ex on July 2nd I am worried...She said she need sit to take to her medical appointment? I know I was finishing this under alot of presure I sent it sort of late but I wanted to have it perfect the cover letter and all the supporting evidence. I know Fed Ex takes a few days due to customs but I did not think she needed this for the medical exam? Anyways its all off now and sent signed notarized and ready ....Wish Us Luck!!!!

    Thanks Jay

When I had my medical in my country I did not need it. To my knowledge the Affidavit of Support is required only at the time of the interview & not during the medical exam. Maybe rules differ from country to country but as you can read from the replies to your post so far, they have a common answer, so take it & worry no more...

  5. I have read this before in one of the profiles of a member here in VJ but I cannot find it anymore. I just would like to know how many kilograms are allowable when one fly to US? Is it 35 kgs or 60 kgs? Does it vary to all company airlines flying to US? Is it true that there is additional pay for every luggage bag of a passenger?

I flew thru PAL in April this year & the allowable baggage limit was 64 kilograms. You can check-in 2 luggages each with 32 kilos max. Aside from that you can also bring a small backpack with you, purse, and one sweater or coat...

  6. Hi Nikmia,

Yes, I had MMR & varicella vaccines while am on my medical at SLEC. The doctor told me that I should not get pregnant just for one month after the vaccination. When I file my AOS, the shot that I haven't taken yet is the TD so I got it from the family doctor here. After, I went to USCIS certified civil surgeon in our area and have it transfered to I-693 vaccination supplement. I explained to our doctor that I didn't have to retake MMR & Varicella. Luckily, for TD shot the doctor told that it's just safe to get pregnant.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I got the TD shot too & second shots for the MMR & Varicella before filing for AOS. I tried to explain to the doctor I had those vaccination already but he told me I need it to document my vaccination records as requirement for AOS. Anyway, it was done & I'm not worrying about it now... :) Once again, congratulations to you & your pregnancy! God bless you with good health all throughout...

  7. OK, so it's actually July 5th today, but it *could* have come yesterday if it hadn't been a holiday. My greencard is here!!!!:dance::dance: I know, I know..... the approval is the important thing, but finding this in my mailbox today is like finding the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Of course, I've got to keep saving stuff for the removal of conditions interview, but I'm an "old pro" at that now ;)

Thanks to everyone on this board for your help, thoughts, and good wishes. I've learned - and am still learning! - a whole lot about this process, and I hope that my experiences can now help others.

Time to fire up the ol' margarita blender.... we're partying in eastern NC tonight! Woohoooo!!!!

Hey, congratulations! I can imagine how happy you are... :D:thumbs:

  8. Hello VJ Family. . .

Just found out that my middle name is typed as "reta" instead of "rate" on the first page.

We have no more time to get a new one.

Will it pose a problem? :help:

    Hi there,

I had a similar concern with the I-134 form before the interview except that my petitioner's birth date was typed incorrectly on page 1 of the form. What I did was print out the first page of the I-134 with the corrected entry and staple it back to the rest of the pages. Anyway, the notarization & signature is on the second page so there's no problem with it. I came up with the idea one day before my interview & it worked!

  9. Is it necessary to bring originals of the documents (proof of phone, email, hotels, etc) for the fiancee to have at the interview or can I just take copies with me when I go over and let her take those? I know she can give them copies but do I really need to have originals handy if they want to see them? My understanding is they don't look at most of the stuff anyway and I hate to bring two of everything.

They don't require the originals for those documents. However, the embassy requires to see the original notarized affidavit of support, your fiancee's birth certificate and police clearance. At least that's how it works at the Philippine embassy. But I think the same requirements still holds true...Goodluck!

  10. SO HAPPY TO KNOW THAT AFTER JULY 4TH PREGNANCY TEST, IT TURNED POSITIVE!!! I arrived here from Philippines last March 29. We got married May 17 and now here it is...AM PREGNANT!!! Woweee, just feels so good. My husband is really looking forward to this too. HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!

Hi, congratulations to you on your pregnancy! I have a question though about your vaccination while in the Philippines. Did you get the MMR & Varicella? I did & was told not to get pregnant after 3 months. Likewise, in filing my AOS I was required to take a second shot of MMR & varicella & I'm not supposed to get pregnant again after 3 months. What did your doctor tell you about this? Goodluck to you & your new family soon. Stay healthy!

  11. This is really off-topic but I just want to inform all Pag-Ibig members in here that we are entitled to claim our accumulated contributions through the Pag-Ibig Provident Savings Benefit program as we're permanently leaving the Philippines.

My mom was the one who gave me this information. The requirements are as follows -

    Duly accomplished Provident Benefit Form

    NSO Birth Certificate

    NSO Marriage Certificate (if married)

Certificate of Employment (from previous and current employers)

Special Power of Attorney (Pag-Ibig Form, should be notarized) - if you're unable to claim it

Sworn Declaration for Permanent Departure (Pag-Ibig Form, should be notarized)

    Passport and Immigrant Visa

Certificate of Loan Amortization (only if you have an existing or previous loan)

I was told by the Pag-Ibig representative that the reimbursements will be available after 5 - 22 working days upon filing. Please ask your current/last employer on what branch they remit your monthly contributions as this is the same branch where you'll submit and file your Provident Benefit claim.

Check this link for additional information on the process - http://www.pagibigfund.gov.ph/sp_optional.htm

Sayang din yan kaya claim nyo na

Oh, so bad I did not know this...I wasn't told it's possible to do this before I resigned from work. We'll wait for your feedback timcass_12.

  12. is it hard to travel alone to US for the first time? Will there be a chance that i may get lost or deported???

No it's not hard. Just be aware what to do & pay attention to the signs. I traveled alone too thru PAL & I wasn't worrying too much coz from Cebu to SFO, I've seen a lot of Filipinos & that made me feel at ease. You only have to deal with boredom during your flight coz it's long hours of flying...You'll be okay...

  13. The topic post says it all.

Interview is the 18th. Mayeth has received her letter from the embassy, but it does not state the amount of the document verification fee. In the examples for the text to delbros the amounts of "1300PhP" and "650PhP" are used, but I haven't been able find any mention of exactly how much the fee is.

Any help is greatly appreciated. More questions are on the way. ha.

    Thanks

    Lee

I paid Php650 + Php50 service charge at Metrobank. It's only Php650 when you pay thru Metrobank branches in Metro Manila but they add Php50.00 service charge in areas outside Manila.

  14. Hey guys!

I just want to inform everyone that I'll be leaving for the US tomorrow, July 5. My POE is LAX. I'll be flying via China Airlines (no choice since PAL is fully booked!) and will reached LAX by 1405pm. I got a 4 hours lay over in Taipei... ugg. Anyway, this is the last waiting time since I'll be seeing my husband in just a day and I am very happy. We waited for almost a year to be reunited and I just miss him so much.

For info, I got a text from Delbros that my visa will be delivered around 7pm last July 1 and then I received my visa yesterday, July 3 - 12NN and then I immediately went to CFO to get my passport stickered/certified.

To all the people in here who's still in AR because of Docs Verification delay, please don't lose patience and just hang in there. Your visa's will come soon at a time when you least expect it. Just keep the faith and always remember to pray. I got my visa a month after I was interviewed.

Take care and God Bless. I'll post my POE experience here as soon as I get to the US.

    timcass_12

Have a safe trip & happy reunion with your husband...

  15. hi I just want to ask if it's okay that i downloaded a G325a form and when i print them in a legal size paper (short bond paper) it looks smaller even if i already increased the magnification. Does it matter to the USCIS? Thank you in advance. God Bless.

I think Pwede naman po kahit ano.. i used an A4 sized paper instead of legal sized (short bond) ok lang din kasi pag nagprint naman sila ng NOA short bond kaya yun..:D heheh Good luck on your journey

    Jomay

hi, thank you Jomay and mrsartis. So okay lang pala yung size ng paper. I tried to magnify them using 150% zoom pero maliit pa rin when i printed it :crying:

If you mean short size bond paper (letter), the dimension is 8.5" x 11" and legal is 8.5" x 14". You can print your G325A form either in letter or A4 paper size. The whole form should fit in there. The magnification you said is only to increase the viewing size & not the actual printing output...

  16. hi, im planning to have my medical exam on monday-tuesday (july 7-8)...

for those who already had their medical, do you think its a bad idea to go there on a monday? i think i read somewhere that there are lots of people on mondays. pls advise ....

Yes, Monday is a busy day. If you really want to go there on that day, be sure to go there very early to get your number...

  17. I had a good laugh reading this post!   Well, I know most of us who went thru the PE were quite uneasy about doing the whole thing & there are just some who were unlucky enough to do "that" thing which we feel embarrassing. Anyway, all those things we went thru are worth it coz it's a ticket to be with our man...:D
