Oh..that's right. Thanks.Should I include the supporting docs for Aff. of support (eg w2, 1040) or just a copy of the original Aff. of support?My husband filled up a separate I-864 for each child, duly signed but we did not include supporting document for it since they are both applying with me. And YuAndDan is right aboutEAD.. it feels weird applyingEADfor minors but well, we need it for SSN purposes.

I know I have a previous post about checklist but I posted it as K1 (my bad!
) instead of K2. Yes, I would like to know the things I needed for the AOS of my son as K2 Visa holder. Is it the exact same thing with the K1? He is applying for AOS with me so I know that we only need to pay $600 for him.
I hope somebody can help me with this. Thanks in advance.
Hi here was my list for my daughter and my son (K2) who are both adjusting with me. We only applied for AOS & EAD and opted not to apply for AP though it would have been free. Hope this will help.

This has been posted as a link on one of K1 subthreads. I just thought this might interest more Filipinos in the Philippine subforum since this is about our "kababayan" and the sad plight they have gotten themselves into... which is sadly, courtesy of fellow Filipino.

I can understand the financial difficulty since we were in the same boat. I have two kids (11 & 9 yr olds) and it was and it still is (AOS for 3) very expensive but we managed; my husband took care of the bigger fees and I took care of the smaller fees while on the visa process. Then we gave it several months after receiving the visa to fly to US so we could all save up a little more for fare and everything. Life here was not easy, still is not easy up to now, we are still tightening our belt the best way we can.
We also thought about leaving the kids and have them follow after I get settled here but with the help of vj members who helped me see the pros and cons, I was able to weigh in favor of having them come with me at the same time. The first few months here would be difficult for your fiancee, I wouldn't have survived it if I had left my kids. I probably would have gone back home because of homesickness and depression: can't drive, can't work, feeling useless because I am not earning/contributing to financial needs at all, can't go out without husband or mother-in-law driving for me, missing my friends & family, missing food from PI, etc. And there were times here when I was ready to pack my stuff and heed back to Philippines but my kids, especially my 9 year old son would say: Who will be with Dadudz (my husband, their stepdad), I don't want to leave Dadudz.
Going back for the kids would actually be more expensive than having them apply and travel with her at the same time. AOS fee would also be higher if they will not apply with her. But then, if the kids will not apply and travel with her, you could also spread the cost more so you won't feel the impact of the financial burden one time. There are indeed pros and cons, I don't know how many kids your fiancee have and their ages but I hope you and her both consider it very carefully.

Just had a question. I had my bio appointment on 1/29 (in chicago) , the last touch on my account was on 01/30. My case is at NBC/MSC and is yet to be transferred. I see that individuals who have applied around the same time I did have already received there interview and EAD notices. Should I be concerned? Is it time to make an infopass appointment? Did anyone else notice that there account was NOT touched prior to there interview / EAD notices?
Also does anyone else have there case still at the NBC/MSC center? I think my ead will be approved at the NBC/MSC but I-485 will need to be transferred prior to getting my interview letter. Am I correct?
Don't worry about the online case status, they are not reliable. I would probably be removing condition already or processing naturalization before our AOS & EAD cases can be viewed online.
There are several cases who were transferred to CSC (in most cases, they would be approved without interview). I would assume, if we don't get transferred to CSC then NBC/MSC will process and pre-approve our AOS/EAD/AP (EAD & AP should be final approval) before sending the pre-approved AOS cases to the USCIS office nearest us for interview, but I would assume, the interview letter would still be coming from NBC/MSC.
You are still within the timeframe, if you do not receive any news on your EAD & AP 90 days after the receipt date, then you can make infopass appointment for expedite EAD & AP. But, for your peace of mind, do try calling the service center to inquire about your case.

JulianDavid & kcoyclay1: thanks for the encouraging words.. I am certainly hoping everything will go smoothly from henceforth. I need to have the EAD soonest so I could apply for SSN or else I won't be able to take the state board for CNA before June 15 (a deadline for the other program I plan to get into). Well, I am lifting it up to God, His time is always better than my time and His plans always greater than my plans.

want to share my happiness, I passed my visa interview just this morning with flying colors. The pre screener was nice, the consul too didnt take 5 minutes inside. she asked my baby's US passport and CRBA certificate. Just asked my name, age, birthday, work of my husband, then thats it. she said your visa is approve.. will travel to to US this coming May 7 PAL. Las Vegas is my port of entry.... thanks to everybody who post their experiences and help a lot to everybody here.

Update on our case: Me and my 2 kids had biometrics early this morning. We arrived at the Raleigh USCIS around 8AM, had a little devotional on the car and then went inside the bldng. My kids (11 & 9 respectively) filled up their own form so it took a little while but we were done and out of the building around 8:45AM. Our appointment was 9AM by the way so, we were done before our appointment time.
Thanks to all who have shared about their biometrics and have adviced about going to for the biometrics earlier than appointed time. Online case status stays the same, I still can't view my case and my son's case online, only my daughter's case can be view and so only my daughter's case has been added to my portfolio, even that seems useless since there has been no update on it since January. I can't rely on the online update, so I will continue to hope and pray that we would receive some good news straight in the mail soon.

Got another e-mail from CRIS today saying that my EAD card was ordered for production on March 16! Wooohooo!!!! I didn't expect that it would be that quick since I had my biometrics only couple of days ago! And I can see on USCIS site that both AOS and EAD cases were touched and updated today - March 16 .

Another BIG Congrats on getting approved for EAD just a few days after biometrics. I hope I would be as lucky and get some good news this week. Updated the list for your EAD.

And another little update: got an e-mail from USCIS on Friday saying that my AP had been approved and the notice was mailed on March 11 Waiting for it in the mailbox on Monday. The LUD on the site is dated March 12.
Congrats on the AP... I hope your EAD and interview notice would follow soon.

What Hole Are You Stuck In?
This devotional was written by Robin Dugall

— Luke 16:27-28 (NASB) We all fall in holes, don’t we? We’re walking our way through life and sooner or later, we find that we are at the bottom of some hole, looking up at the sky wondering how we got here. It is inevitable. Holes happen! You see, the issue with these types of situations in life is not that they happen, but what we do when they happen. I love the following poem. Read it and reflect on it for a few moments.

Pretty good image for the Christian experience, isn’t it? Wouldn’t it be great if we could all learn from the “holes” in life and NOT repeat the inevitable one-way ticket back to the bottom? Instead of blaming, instead of succumbing to habit, if we could trust the Lord to guide us to a new “walk” in life, our lives would be different.
Transformation occurs when we are committed to being formed into the likeness of Jesus. Learning to follow Jesus is about learning to walk down streets that are different. Today, choose to walk down a “different street.”

This is a discussion i've seen come up so many times. The process is difficult and people deal with it in so many different ways.
You have those who feel like the OP and have a difficult time dealing with others celebrating what they want so badly for themselves.... and then you have those like sara (estadia) who have been waiting almost 2 years, yet still congratulate everyone for moving on!
In our case, we had to wait years just to file and it was very difficult. I was a member here at VJ long before I sent the actual petition off. I remember the envy but I also remember making the choice to be happy for those folks who went before me. I think it was actually easier for me to deal with our own wait. I would often remind myself that I didn't know their story and perhaps it was even more heart-wrenching than ours. I remember others approvals giving me so much hope and with each one, knowing that our time was going to come..eventually and that we would feel like that too. Sure, the wait is difficult, but we each really do have a choice in how we deal with it.
To the OP. I understand your frustrations and wish I could offer you more support than these few words. But I also feel like those who reach the point where they are finally able to celebrate have every right to post and they should. It makes a lot of people happy to see the progress. I still feel my heart fill up when I know someone is as happy as I was when that day finally came for us. It warms the soul.
I don't think this process is spelled out any better than it is here in the PI forum. Whatever questions you have.. just ask. You are sure to get a flurry of advice and support from the people here.
Do what you can and what you have to do to keep yourself happy until it's finally your turn too. good luck!

To the OP: I understand where you are coming from. It might help if you try not venturing into the Philippine regional forum till after you get your NOA2. You might be able to cope better if you just frequent the special subforum for K3 especially the thread for the month you filed your initial petition. You would probably fell the connection with those people who filed the same time as you since you will go through the same roller coaster emotion at the same time. Then when your interview time nears, you can post your questions here and then share your interview and medical excitements with those who will have it almost the same time as you would.
I made friends in the vj forums, I have even met several vjers when we had medical and interview in Manila. We had VJ eyeballs before (i don't know if some here have also set up meetings with other vjers) Some of those I have meet were still waiting for approval, some are still about to apply, some waiting for visa, some leaving in a few days, some getting ready for interview... different stages in the visa process, different visa categories, one commonality: we were happy for each other and was encouraging each other no matter where in the process we were in. And for each approval, for each visa received, for each problem hurdled: a simple CONGRATULATION meant the world. The other people around us would never understand how hard it is to wait for immigration news, the only people who would truly understand are the people who are going through it or have gone through it. When your time comes, you will understand why the simple congratulation from people who truly understand would feel so great and why it should not be something we should deprive anybody of.

)anyway, my fiancee used this # 1-888-877-9888 to call USEM to set an interview but it said that its not business hours already. can we call again and use the pin still?
You can use the pin 3 times.. some have even used it more than 3 times.. let him call first thing monday morning (Manila time). When we scheduled our interview, we made it a point to chat on yahoo, complete with yahoo/skype calling and webcam so when my then fiance was speaking with the call center agent I was immediately able to supple any additional needed info and I was able to choose the date I really want based on the available dates. I was hearing him talk on the phone and so I was able to type in the info needed asap: eg. complete address, birthdates, right spellings, etc.

As per US embassy Manila website: "Callers can speak with an English or Tagalog speaking operator. The service is available to the public from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday to Friday, Manila local time."

hi there, i just want to ask if this 1-909-101-7878 number would be ok too, if i will call from the Philippines what is more cheaper and easy to access from the operator how many minutes would it be consume?
That will be the call center number where you would talk to a call center agent who will not know anything beyond what is on their script. And calling that number would be sooooo much more expensive. If you want to really know about the status of your visa, ask your USC spouse/fiance/fiancee to call USEM direct line: 011 632 301 2000 then press 7 when prompted then ext 5184 or 5185.. in case you hear a prompt saying the operator is busy blah blah blah.. hit 0 right away so you won't have to redial, keep hitting 0 untill you get to talk to a live person.
I don't know if they have changed but before, USEM would always entertain queries directly from the USC. They would all be sweet and so entertaining if its the USC but would be a little bitchy if the Filipino applicant would be calling to inquire.

Thank you so much for the encouragement!! It has been a long and hard day for my family...hopefully we can have everything in the mail by Saturday and there by Tuesday. I can't take much more of this waiting for my EAD....I need to get back to work and not to mention the fact that we need to file our taxes soon!! lol
We might ask for extension for tax filing. We would most likely wait for the permanent residency card before filing. Hope we all get some good news soon.

i made my own wedding invite, it was not uniquely filipino but it was definitely personalized.
here was our photo invitation:
my wedding gown is made from the Philippines as well as my daughter's dress and also the barongs that my husband, my son and our best man wore. We had our small wedding in our church here and reception at the church hall but my husband's aunt and cousin took charge of the decorations.
Our original plan was a lakeside wedding, we have already reserved the venue a year before the wedding but had to change plans because of some unforeseen problems. Our wedding was not what we originally planned, it was definitely not the way I envisioned my wedding to be, it was soo much simpler, no glitz and glams but it was very beautiful and very memorable. There was no dry eye when we exchanged our personalized vows to God, to every person present, to each other and to our kids. My sister-in-law said she had a hard time singing the final song for the wedding because she was crying. Everybody else has forgotten the decorations, food, give-aways, dresses in our wedding but they still remember the ceremony that made them cry.
I know your wedding will be beautiful. It will not be the invitations, decorations or the give aways that will truly matter that day but the the love that you will share with your partner being sealed in the covenant of marriage.

Filipinos believe that when your wife is pregnant (ask your in laws), it means you would be lucky, even in gambling. I think you have more than enough evidence of bonafide marriage. Plus your baby will definitely bring you good luck and you will have no problem during AOS interview

I am sorry that you went through all that but at least you have the approval. I hope you receive Grevein's green card soon.

yes ma'am... but if you want to apply for SSN the soonest, the EAD would be the fastest route since it is usually approved faster than AOS. (max is 90 days, after 90 days without any news, you can request for EAD expedite). EAD is free anyway and it only requires few documents/forms.
and yeah, even if we didn't do it, i would agree with including all the supporting docs for affidavit of support for your child just for peace of mind.
