  1. Hi folks,

Well me and my dad were making plans of going to a few Eastern European (through that Schengen visa) countries and then to Bangladesh this summer. Well I really wish to go with him, can keep in touch with my husband through my lappy, so that won't be a problem, but I'm wondering will this in anyway might effect i-130 process? May be further AP or asking me to show police certificate from these countries during my interview at the last stage, I don't know really, just want to go for a 40 days trip.

    Thanks for any help

  2. yeye,

For DCF, you will have to live in India for at least 3 months or so, actually the guidelines at Delhi embassy isn't clear, they only say for a certain amount of time, so most people take it as 3 to 4 months of time, plus you have to take care of another specific, that is you can't be living in India on tourist visa, you should acquire an Entry visa if you wish to go for DCF in the future.

  3. I am a little confused... so did you submit your DCF in Delhi, while your embassy is Chennai and got your visa processed and interview in Chennai?

If I am not wrong, then Delhi embassy works as USCIS, gives the approval notification (NOA-2) and forwards it to the local consulate, that is Chennai in this case.

But I am wondering, who works as NVC? The i-864, where do you submit that?

  4. Yes I am sticking with IR-1 route, basically my husband is :P

I do realise the benifits and its only fair to stick with IR-1, 4 years of this long distance relationship hasn't yet killed us, so a few more months wouldn't :P

    Thanks for the guidance :thumb:

Hope you have a smoother AOS

CarolynRitesh hope you have a piece of cake of an interview!

  5. Hello all,

I am kind of, sort of thinking about k-3 process, I probably will stick with IR/CR-1 but still the thought of a few months less separation time is tempting me a bit too much.

Anyways everyone directs to check with the local consulate/embassy and see how they process IR/CR-1 and K-3, so I am wondering how does it go with Indian consulate especially Chennai, is there a big time difference for giving interview dates to IR/CR-1 applicants compared to K-3?

  6. You know, I have come to realise that this immigration isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. Some people just don’t want to talk about it, it does evolve a lot of negativity and separation and they feel they are better off not knowing about it at all.

I can very much relate with you, I am the beneficiary and though we do have a lawyer but it has been me doing everything, lawyer only worked as a second pair of eyes and did give us a few inputs here and there. I was going through a lot of frustration that my husband wasn’t as evolved as I wished he would have been, I wished him to read these forums, acquire more knowledge, read the guides but he just wasn’t going to.

So to make things simple, I just started giving him out "to do list". If I wanted him to scan something or print out something, or taking his 2x2 pics for G-325a (you guys wouldn’t believe it but it was me who made the call from India to the photo studios near his place and determined which photo studio he should go……..damn husband :P) I would let him know and he had 2 days of time to do it and it worked for both of us, he didn’t have to hear me talking and talking about immigration process after a hard day at work and I didn’t have to go through a frustrating time because of all this. I am hoping to continue the same when time comes for NVC.

Just wish to say that do look more into the whole situation, how is he otherwise, not just the process, not everyone likes all the paper work, so he is one of those guys. He did spend 2 years in your country, so I wouldn't say he is the bad guy, and at the same time you have the right to be frustrated and rant out.

Wishing you a smooth journey ahead.

  7. I know the K3 is much faster in the short term...but more expensive in the long term.

Not much faster anymore, may be only a couple of months difference, really depends upon which country you are in.

at least I feel, Cr-1/Ir-1 is much a better route

Costs around 855 dollars and can work and travel as soon as you enter US

  8. do a search on CR1 timelines and get an idea of how long it is taking for your circumstances -- figure out who would process you - California or Vermont - based on where you live, and look at your fiance's country and you'll find out what the recent trend has been.

    Hello,

I am just wondering how to figure that out, I did go through the guides and all the readings but seems I have missed that part.

If it helps my husband(petitioner) lives in Indiana.

I do gather that Vermont is faster.

    Thanks
