Hi, beautiful men and women here, I'm going for my N400 biometrics on May 23,2014 in Honolulu..I just want to make it clear on this matter, I noticed that is says in my notice of action form(.I-797C)..that NO Cellphones,Cameras and other recording devices permitted..they were in bold capital letters..does it mean that I CANNOT bring my cellphone at all? Does it mean that I have to leave my cellphone at home? I live in Maui and I have a baby and my cellphone is so important to me to get in touch with my parents in-law who'll watch my son...please enlighten me on this matter...thanks so much in advance guys.

i had my AOS interview last december 21,2009, my case was pending cause of lacked of evidences (house bills, insurances and others) had to re-do my medical since i filed my AOS more than a year after i got married but i got interviewed after my second anniversary of marriage, the IO asked more requirements and my medical thingy, and i did all of them and sent all the documents the IO was asking, now waiting for the result.
i'm just kind of worried and anxious for the result.
if they are people here has a similar of my situation, i would gladly appreciate all your comments
Hi, we're not yet in that situation, but don't worry so much I think you will be approved, just hang on sister...but just wanna ask you what are those evidences that you were lacking in your interview may I know what are the exact evidence or documents the interviewer had asked you..I just wanna know because we're waiting for our interview too for my AOS, just had my biometrics 3 weeks ago, I just wanna be prepared and bring the documents during the interview...thanks in advance for the reply:)

I'd love to live in NJ if only my husband agrees with me..I think it's a nice and beautiful state, my husband grew up there and my in-laws still live overthere:)

Count us in Pls just sent our AOS Nov 28, 2009 (from K3 visa)..
-
We're about to file our AOS tomorrow, but we're still not sure about what to put on our I-864, my question is on Part 6 number 23 (sponsor's current individual annual income) is that where do we have to get that amount? Is it from his w2 from last year particularly box 1 of W2? Also my husband has another income and he has 1099 misc form should we add that too for total annual income they're saying on number 23? One more question on same I-864 part 6 number 25 federal income tax information, for each tax year(starting from recent) I know we should put what's gross income from our 1040 there but if we do that, it will not match to my husband's reported individual income in number 23 question because last year my husband filed for joint and he included the money I received from the Philippines(separation pay) so now our last year's tax return filed is more than what he earned because he included mine, will that be a problem? Pls enlightened us because we really need to send the AOS tomorrow or the other the day. Thanks so much guys.

Hey Guys! It's me again, in relation to my previous post, we are about to submit our AOS pretty soon, my question is, do I need to go for another biometrics for AOS? I already had one when I applied for my EAD. Thanks in advance again for your replies.

Hi Guys, I've been here in HI for over a year now under K3 visa, for so many reasons we're just starting to apply for AOS now, my question can I just apply AOS without EAD and AP(Advance parole)? I know they're optional and not applicable in my case, since I already filed my EAD way ahead of time(last year, around Oct, I think 3 months after I came in here) and AP is not applicable for K3, do you think it would be fine to just send the paper work for AOS without those, I'm just a little confused if I need to apply for another EAD(or is it renewal in my case) because my EAD will expire together with my K3 visa next year around June, I'm not even sure if my AOS will be approved first before my EAD expires if I send in the AOS now, just wanted to know what's the right thing to do, that is. to apply for AOS with EAD application(or renewal in my case) or just the AOS forms, thanks so much in advance for the replies, btw my K3 will expire next year 2010 and so is my EAD, and do I need to pay Aos of $1,010.00 even without new EAD application? Thanks so much in advance guys, your replies will be a great help.

i knew and understand exactly where you coming from, honestly, some pinays wont admit whats life is really in america especially to cold areas..they would just say they are very happy..for me eventhough i will stay in hawaii in the future..i will definitely and will miss badly my life and family back in the philippines...
Hello! What island will you be in Hawaii, I'm here in Maui, Goodluck sis!
-
Hi Stevee,
I did the same. I filed EAD before GC. The expiration that they gave me on my EAD is the same as with my I-94. In my case, the period is 1 year and 5 mos.
Oh thats nice, i been here last dec 21, 2008, your been here since when?
yeah! I did the same thing too, I'm under K3 and filed for EAD first and will apply for AOS around March or April 2009 our second wedding anniv will be on June 2009 so hopefully we'll get the 10 year GC, the EAD expiration is based on my I-94 w/c will expire on June 2010,(based on my K3 2 years visa) so basically the EAD is good for 2 years too, the same expiration as your K3 visa.

i am a bit curious because i want my wife to prepare for the questions that she may be asked for her visa. can anyone post?
thank you!
Hi! Maybe I can help a little bit because I was under K3 too when I had my interview, you can click on my profile and look and read about my USEmbassy interview experience, I've written there everything about the queustions they've asked me. I know too that most of the K3s had similar questions like mine, you can also look at the search here at the top just type on K3 interview experience and I'm sure from there you can get some pointers too.
-
after the wedding and to start another process again like change of status and temporary work permit, what documents do I need to bring? As if I gave all my originals to the USEM for my interview. Do I need another original Thailand Police Clearance? What docs do I need to bring with me to the US? Thanks everyone for your kind response.
Just to be sure, click the guides at the top(near the portals) and then look on the right side, that is where the guide and requirements for the K1 is read that so that you'll know what documents you need to bring with you.

This has been one long journey I must say. Today my wife and I received notification that she is scheduled for a interview next month to establish her permenant residency and obtain the card.
The problem is that I am a victim of this economic crisis and the company that I was working for went out of business at the end of September. I just recently started receiving unemployment benefits and have been seeking other types of employment in the mean time with no luck.
My question to this forum is does my unemployment checks count as part of our income for immigration purposes, we are a family of 6 people and need to be earning at least $40.825 annually in order to meet the guidelines for the affidavit of support for the State of Hawaii? My wife does work but only earns $26.000 annually which will not be enough unless immigration counts my unemployment benefits.
I don't want to ask immigration this question directly for I know that they will quote me directly what the rules are for the affidavit of support. Prior to being let go by my company I was earning close to $75.000 yearly. I want be able to produce a letter from my employer because there isn't one
.Any suggestion outside of just taking a $300 per week job right now in order to get this interview over with?
When you filed, you had the documentation to show that you met the requirements, as I understand your situation. I doubt that anyone will ask any questions. Hope for the best, but tell the truth if asked. You have the potential to meet the requirements, that should be good enough. Don't go out of your way to tell them anything they don't need to know. You should be OK, Just tell the truth if asked.
I'm not sure about this but my only suggestion is for you to delay the interview for like 2 to 3 months until you get a new job, that's only my suggestion for you to be safe.

I arrived here in Johnston county, NC on Sept. 4, 2008 with my 2 kids, K1 and K2 respectively. Me and then fiance/now husband got married October 18, 2008.
We waited till after the wedding to apply for SSN just so we could have my SSN in my married name and not have to go back and forth changing my name. When we went to SS office in Smithfield, NC the lady told us that I am not eligible to get SSN since I got married already and therefore I am not a fiancee anymore and K1 only covers the fiancee... she was saying something about me being a K3 now since I am married and I was confused coz I thought K1 was one time visa which expired/used up the moment I entered US soil and my getting married do not change the fact that I entered the US on a K1 and therefore still be eligible to get SSN since my I-94 is still valid. The lady at the SS office said i will need to get EAD or go through the whole immigration process again as a wife of a US citizen in order to get the SSN.
I know I will need to go through AOS but I thought that is another story, we will surely do that before my I-94 expires but we sure want to have SSN beforehand. I never thought i would forfeit my eligibility to get SSN as a K1 just because I got married and I surely have never heard of anybody coming here as a K1 and then have to go through the whole immigration process to get a K3 after the wedding just to get SSN, it sounds crazy to me. Obviously the lady at SS office didn't know what she was saying but I also got so confused that I didn't know how to rebut the points she raised.
I hope somebody could help shed light on this. Any input will be greatly appreciated.
I suggest you go back to ssa office and go to another person, I Know most of these people that are working there are so stupid, like they don't know anything about their job, just like what happened when I called on the phone to get my state ID and they asked what's my visa, I said I'm under K3 visa, the stupid lady told me I'm not eligible for it unless I have my gc already( I only have my ead, we didn't apply for aos yet coz my visa is good for 2 years) I said to her, why on your website it says there I can get a state Id as long as my I-94 is still valid and I told her K3 is a spousal visa, she was so rude to me, but you know what happened when I get there, I had no problem, I just brought all the required documents like SS card, valid passport and visa and I-94 and marriage cert and that's it, no questions asked about my K3 like that stupid lady I talked to on the phone, can you imagine if I listened to her and didn't go and try to apply for it, good thing that I know what are the requirements through their website and that I know I have to fight for I know what is right, not like those stupid employees here in the US who doesn't even know what they're doing, it's useless that the government is paying them, most of them are so incompetent, they're not like the employees in the Philippines who are so knowledgable and so reliable on their jobs.

Hello all..
I've been reading many posts here..and this forum is made up of so many helpful people!! I have seen other forums before and never found one that was so focused, relevant, and supportive!
But for a newbie...all the initials are very confusing, as well as some of the terms...
For example..
I know that POE means Port of Entry and that NOA1 means Notice of Accpetance/approval...but is there list of all the other ones I can use as a dictionary?
Also, there are many terms I just don't understand...When someone is writing their timeline...what does it mean "touched"...does it mean the two people actually get together in person?
Anyway..sorry if this question been asked before..but there are so many threads, posters, stickies, etc...that it is a bit overwhelming for a new person. Even just trying to catch up in this Philippines topic is gonna take me quite a while.
Thanks
Pete
Hi! "touched" means when they(USCIS) updated or looked into your application forms, like if you go to the USCIS website and registered your case their online, they will update you with what's going on with your case, so you will know that somebody is looking at your application or should I say working on your application if the date there has changed..that is what you called a "touched", I wish I made a clear explanation here, oh well, I hope at least you understand my english. I really suggest you go on the USCIS website and register or fill your application number there so that you can check on anytime what is the status of your application.
Anyway, welcome to VJ, your free immigration help

Kumusta ???? This is Kris i arrived in the US oct.29 thru Houston Texas. The POE officer was very easy; I get finger scan, then he asked me three questions only: 1. What is your purpose coming America?
2. What state will you live?
3. Have you been to US before?
Then he has me sit near his table and tells me to relax while he types. Then he check my papers. When he is finished he returnes my passport and tells me to go. He says he knows my fiance is waiting..

Then I search the gate for connecting flight to Atlanta, Ga.
I get lost in the Atlanta airport when i arrive... it is very big..i almost want to go back to Philippines...
I finally ask someone to please call my fiance so I can locate him. He is waiting at baggage claim...hahaha..
When we leave airport, it is very cold to me, the US is very big and cold to me.. never have I been in climate cloder than 23c. but Ronnie has me a coat, so it is a little better. We take train to his truck, then to home. I am nervous about the US, but I am happy to be here.
The next morning I chat with my family for a while and feel more relaxed. It will take time to adjust to the weather, food, and people here, but it is exciting too.
Last night we eat at a mexican restaurant. The food is different tasting to me, and I didn't like it too much. The rice is very different than Philippines. When we come home I make regular rice and chicken.
I am learning the house, how to operate washer, dryer, and rice cooker.

Houston, Tx. was easy POE for me, I hope same for others too.
Kris
Welcome to America!

The pre screener asked me for my NBI Clearance, CENOMAR, Thailand Police Clearance, Birth Certificate, Photos, latest chat conversation, Affidavit of Support, ITR's, W-2 Forms. I told him that my fiance's mother is cosponsoring us. He looked at my fiance's ITR and said, you will be ok. He has enough for both of you to live. . He asked me questions like, who is my petitioner, where and when did we meet, how old is he, and when did you come to the Philippines to visit me. And then after that, told me that I could go back to my seat and wait for my number to be called for the final interview with the consul. And there is something strange that I read on my folder. It was a stamped that says APPROVED but I couldn't read what was approved again. How I wish I have a bigger eyes!
The final interview: I went inside and the consul asked me to wait for him because he has to do something just for a few minutes. And so I waited. And when he was back, I was asked to raise my right hand for the oath. So, he asked me who is petitioning for me, how old is he, what does he do for living, how we met, when we met, the date of his visit here, and also he asked me to tell him what happened after our very first talk (our love story), if he has ever been married, the date of his divorce, does he have a child, a girl or a boy, for how long does he and his ex wife lived together, do I have a child, , what is my fiance's educational attainment, about my work experience, what I did in Thailand (I worked as a teacher and a school nurse, and so he said, so you are a nurse), the dates of my visit in Thailand (I said 2003, 2005, 2007 and in 2007, I went there for a visit only), which part of Thailand I have worked, the kind of job that I did, and he looked at the photos and pointed out at 2 photos and asked me where was it and then he was smiling, when do we plan to get married, and everytime I answer him, he said "Ok and he was looking and typing something at the computer". And after the so many questions, he wrote something like "ready for..........", too bad I couldn't read the other words anymore. He told me "ok, you may go back to your seat outside and wait for your name to to be called". Before I left, I asked him, "excuse me sir, can I just asked if I passed the interview or not?". He answered me, "oh yes, you do.... blah blah blah.... I can't remember the other things that he said anymore because I just said "oh yes thank you so much". and the last thing that he said was "good luck". Then I left.
I went right away to window 37 and the lady gave me back the photos, the chat conversation which was 5 pages and my appointment letter and the PINK SLIP and told me to go to Delbros and pay for the visa delivery fee.
My question is, does passing the interview means that my visa is approved? I should have asked the consul whether my visa is approved or not but I asked if I passed the interview or not instead.
Your visa is definitely approved, you just have to be a little patient and wait for it, congratulations!

When we were in our younger years (like Elementary or High School). Most of us girls are dreaming to marry our prince charming one day. Someone who is handsome, young and willing to fight for us. But as the years goes by, things are getting different.
We discovered a lot of things that made us realized that physical feature is not a basis to prove how much we should love other people.
Hmm, i'm just thinking here... Have you ever dream to marry or to love someone who is 10 years or 20 years older than you?
This is especially to the couples who has an age gap. Like for the woman is 25 yrs old and their man is 40 yrs old, something like that.
I met a lot of guys who is 10 years or 20 years older than me, but i dunno why i didn't choose to be with one of them. Even they offered me their acres of land and their mansion house in california, i never tried to like them. I'm not being rude here but i just want to make sure that if i will love someone, my heart should be pure and right wthout any wrong motive.. Am i right?
You just have to believe that there is Love in the big age gap, and most of the time they're lucky too because the old man is stable already in terms of work and money, that's the advantage of big age gap most of the times...just my two cents only not to offend anyone.
Well, everything happens for a reason.
My husband is 25 and i'm 25 too. Never thought i will marry the same age as mine. Is there any reason behind of marrying an old man or simply you love them?
Don't get offended by this.
Just a freedom of speech!

EAD and AP are included on the $1010 for AOS?But what if we will do the EAD first before we do the AOS,does it mean that EAD fee will be minus to the AOS fee
HI, I believe the aed fee will not be deducted for aos fee if you file it in(ead) separately, that's what we did, we filed for ead first and paid the 340.00 fee for it and then will just appl for aos later probably early next year, anyway it's worth the money because I can work now and my ead card is good for almost 2 years, so by the time we file for the aos next year, we've save enough money for the aos fee.

Just arrived home in Santa Fe with my wife after being reunited in LA yesterday evening!!!!!!
The POE was uneventful... only queuing for 30 minutes. The officer wondered what the CFO stickers and stamps were about in her passport and was surprised that she was already married at a young age.
Congratulations to both of you! She really looks young, how old is she?
-
COngratulations!
Thank you so much, God bless you, thanks for posting some recipes, I'm copying all of it and try to cook those very soon.

Hello Guys! Just wanted to share my happiness now because I just received my EAD yesterday, it was approved exactly after 3 months, whew! I thought they've forgotten about our application because they didn't even touch it until it's almost 3 months, but we're surprised because right after the first touch which was last Oct 8, the second touch Oct 9, they approved it already and then third touch is the mailing of card, so this morning we went to the SSA office to get my ss number and card, it's just that it will take 2 weeks, oh well it's fine at least I can start looking for a job now. Thank you again Lord our God and thanks fellow VJers for reading this.

-
Do i need to apply my EAD first then when received the EAD i'll go ahead and do the SSN?Or i could do both as the same time?Pls advice..Thankyou
Hello! You need to apply and get your EAD card first before you get your SSN, that's what I did, I applied for the EAD first(I'm under K3 too) and then I'll apply for SSN after I received my EAD card.

thanks so much for the quick replies my dears..so I guess I really need to just leave my cellphone at home, I don't have a car....I'm from Maui and Honolulu is 30 minutes plane away, so from the airport I will take a cab from there to USCIS...so sad..I really need a cellphone..
