  1. I wrote to my congressman...and heres what i got back:

"Your Email was referred to me for review. We sincerely understand you and your husband's desire to be reunited. The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service processes hundreds of thousands of petitions and/or applications like yours. I have been able to determine that your I-130, Petition for Relative and your I-129F, Petition for K3 visa are both pending at the California Service Center (CSC). They are just now beginning to work on any applications/petitions filed June 18, 2007; therefore, your's are in that batch and are ready for adjudication. While we know you are anxious to be reunited as a family, the CSC processes applications in the order they are received as they deem that the fairest since most anyone filing these types of petitions are doing so to be reunited with a family member.

While Mr. Herger often makes inquiries to federal agencies in behalf of his constituents, members of Congress cannot control or circumvent the workload upon the USCIS. We can assure you that as a U.S. Citizen your applications are addressed sooner than a Permanent Resident applying for a family member. It is simply a matter of workload, or in other words, a matter of the volume of applications/petitions that have been received. Sometimes the workload is lighter and thus processing time is shorter. If any of a number of the 535 members of Congress were allowed to make special arrangements for their constituent's applications to be processed sooner than those filed earlier, the processing centers would be in chaos and many individual's applications would never proceed to completion. Thus, again, the USCIS deems it the fairest to take all applications in order they have been received with very few exceptions."

Not much help at all!!!!! :(

    Good luck

  2. I would ask others about the timing cuz its already been almost 4 months...and if u file the I129 too late, the I130 will be approved first and u will be out the money u paid for the K3..cuz its null and void if the I130 approves first. Most people file the K3 within 2 months...thats my understanding.

    Good luck

  3. We were approved in Nov. but our interview date is not until March 10, 2008. There are others who were approved after us who have their dates earlier. I think it depends on the embassy, etc. Take care and may you get your interview date soon!

i saw your dates on the tracking list in the africa forum...can't believe they are scheduling interview so far out!!!! We are still waiting for NOA2, and i see others here filing after us already been approved! Its such a crazy system..and the embassys are all different! Did your husband pick up his packets, or wait till they mailed it? Heard u can get a quicker interview date if u pick up the packets, but others have said interview is already set in system when case is transmitted!

Good luck to everyone....My prayers are with us all!

  4. I talked to an immigration attorney who is also Nigerian, and he said it is not necessary to get a new passport. He said that the passport is for identification purposes only, and that the proof of marriage has already been established with the marriage certificate and approval from USCIS. He stated that what the consolate is looking for at the interview is "proof of an ongoing relationship after marriage".

also..another VJer pm me and said her hubby didnt get a new one, and his interview went fine. So I am hoping we are ok with the old passport. I will continue to search for info just to make sure this isnt something new!

  5. Hello everyone....I am new to the K3 forum. I been hanging out in the Africa/SubSaharan forum cuz my husband is from Nigeria. I would like to be added to the tracking list here...We have one going in the Africa forum...but not very many K3 filers there, and its hard to get an idea of how fast they are getting approved.

    I130---NOA1---June 19

    I129---NOA1---July27

    Thanks

    God Bless (L)

  6. Has anyone heard that the SO (husband) has to get a new passport after married? I know Nigeria has a new passport now. Heard they have to have the new one before the interview which will show the "marital status" as married when the barcode is scanned, and if it doesnt it will be a problem at the consolate and may be an issue with approval. I know they have to have at least 6 months left on passport, but havent heard about this new passport stuff... :(

(I sent pm's to a few others already gone thru interview there, but havent heard back yet)

    :help:

  7. If your husband is coming to the US on a K3 visa he will not be able to work until you file for his Adjustment of Status where he will get an Employment Authorization Document to work and he will also get a 2 year conditional greencard then you will have to lift conditions in 2 years and he will get a 10 greencard it costs $1,010.00. Or you can just get the Employment Authorization Document which takes 90 days and he can get a SS# with that it costs $340.00.

My husband came in November and I just sent his AOS paperwork off on Dec. 21st he will not get the EAD until the middle of March and you have to apply for the SS# it takes 2-4 weeks to get so we are looking at April before he can work.

I try to keep him busy best I can because he wants to work sooooooo bad but we are happy to be together. That is the downside of the K3 not being able to work but the good side is being together a little bit sooner!

    Good Luck!

Thanks so much Ara...thats exactly what I wanted to know. So happy you and your husband are finally together. Would love to hear how things are going with his adjustment to the US! Good luck and God Bless. (L)

  8. Hello:

If you go to the: Reviews: Embassy/USCIS · POE option on the top right hand corner of the VisaJourney web page, click on POE,select JFK from the available list of entry points, and you will have tons of information regarding temp.work permits from real people. Many of the people who posted actually asked for,and received the temp.work permit.Goodluck!

Yes..I been to the POE review...but there are so many posts, and I got tried of reading them, and not finding a simple answer...LOL...also not knoing if they were K3 or not without looking at their profile/signature/timeline etc. Just looking for a quick fix i guess!!!! But thanks. (L)

Still hope someone reading this can help.... ;)

  9. I have been trying to get this book as well...its sold out everywhere I have tried. His website does not have a secure paying method to order it.

Omoba...did u order directly thru him? Always leary about ordering stuff from individuals that I don't personally know. Is he selling it on Ebay as well?...Havent checked there.

  10. Thank you MrsJibowu for the list of those having had interviews. Yes, I read every guide and review before I even joined this site...and even went back and read tons of old threads! But to find specific info can be difficult. Just was hoping those having been thru it would respond so I could get a better idea. I originally posted in the "K3" forum and unless people go there or look in "new posts" they may not have seen it. I know I personally, usually only come to the Africa/Subsaharan forum and thought maybe I would get K3 specific answers if I posted somewhere else. Obviously posting in a larger forum doesnt always get the best results! (but thank you for your response!)

I realize that every persons interview experience will be a little different as far as what is asked, but the more we know the better! I plan on overkill!!!!

I had a thought....many of you are saying to focus on the relationship "after filing"...but for K3 shouldn't the focus be "before marriage/filing"as well? To me it would look suspicious if there was nothing illustrating the courtship leading up to the marriage. (read in the reviews that someone was thought to have been paid to marry their SO)

I ask because my situation is a little different..We filed for K1 originally, but were married while it was processing. We tried to change the filing status, but that was when I went to live there for 3 months, and by the time I got home we had been denied and told to refile for the K3.(we got bad advice, and jumped the gun before getting all the info) So the time between marrying and filing the K3 was 6 months.

Obviously me living there is a huge plus...but other than my visa stamps in my passport and pics (with no date stamps), we have no receipts or anything with my name on it. Plus I was there "before" we filed the K3, but after we had already been married during my previous visit several months earlier.

Anyway...leave it to my complete PARANOIA right now..that I am even being so #######! But I don't want anything to go wrong this time around. I can't imagine much longer of being apart! But like I told him in the beginning..I would give up my comfortable life, my house, my job, and all the riches in the world, drop everything and move there with him if I had too!

Thank you all for your help and support!

    GOD BLESS

  11. I posted this in another forum but didnt get much response. I'm starting to get my paperwork together and have been looking thru past threads about what people have included. It seems it varies quite alot. I have also noticed that the information asked for at the consolate interview differs depending on if it's a K1 or K3. Also varies by country.

How much proof of ongoing relationship did everyone send? I have pics,(how many is enough?) my cell phone records, a few emails, but mostly chat logs. Should I include every chat log? Thats daily conversations for almost 8 months! Began printing just the first page for each day and already I have 180 pages of logs and not close to the present time yet! Also read where people included western union receipts, sworn letters from friends and family(including children)having knowledge of the relationship both from the USC and also the SO sides, sworn letters from pastors, place of employment (sworn)stating USC given time off for travel, travel ticket stubs, passport pages showing visiting visas. etc.

Would like to hear from those who have been to K3 interview, especially in Lagos..what exactly did they ask for?

Would appreciate any help...Thank so much

    God Bless

  12. I been trying to brush up on my pidgin english to surprise my husband when he finally gets home. I found websites that are in dictionary form and give example sentences, but what I'd really like is an audio version to learn correct pronounciation and how the words are accented and used in dialoge. If anyone know where to find something like that I would greatly appreciate it...Or maybe some of our Nigerian brothas and sistas on here would be willing to make one! Cuz I sure the heck would buy it!

    Thanks everyone.

    God Bless

  13. Does the NVC schedule the interview date or is the date scheduled when the packets are picked up from the consolate?

Also...how much proof of ongoing relationship did everyone send? I have pics,(how many is enough?) my cell phone records, a few emails, but mostly chat logs. Should I include every chat log? Thats daily conversations for almost 8 months! Began printing just the first page for each day and already I have 180 pages of logs and not close to the present time yet! Is all of this really necessary? Would like to hear from those who have been to interview..what exactly did they ask for?

Would appreciate any help...Thank so much

  14. Bassi...I totally feel u girl! I had no idea when I started this LDR that it was gonna be this hard. I had no clue all these feelings I am having right now. I have always been in such control of my life..so I thought...but now everything is out of my control. Some stranger at USCIS has my future in their hands, and they kno nothing about me or my husband or what suffering and pain we are going thru right now. This is our second visa journey..we were denied the first time because I was so unprepared, got bad advice, and did not go overboard on the proof as I should have. I wasn't aware of VJ, and did not "do my homework" as I should have. The funny thing is..normally I am so ####### about stuff and detail-oriented! I was just so head-over-heels that I wasn't thinking straight. Now I am a nervous wreck. Trying to make sure I do everything right, and not miss a beat this time.

I too find it hard to pray on the days that I am just so emotional. But something inside me always reminds me that it is God that brought my husband and I together in the first place, and OUR TIME IS NOT GODS TIME! His timing is his glory. I know for a fact that had my husband and met any sooner than we did, it would not have been the "right time". God has to put everything in place so that we can live in his grace and glory for the rest of our lives. This is something my husband reminds me of almost daily when I feel like I don't have the strength to go on.

We have to believe that God has a plan for us...and when it is complete, so then we will be together. Please know that when I pray...I pray for all of us who are in pain and need the healing hands of God.

So if there is a day you do not or cannot pray..I will pray for you

    Have faith and God Bless!

  15. Zee...just wanted to let u know how wonderful this chart is! Every day when i log on here i quickly look to see if there are any updates. Its so nice actually seeing my name move up on the list, and seeing others moving thru the process. My husband also comes to look every day! It helps give us hope that soon it will be our time too!

    THANKS SO MUCH!

    God Bless
