  2. unfortunately, i can't give any advice regarding your family...however, with your husband...definitely apologize and just be very patient with him...put yourself in his shoes...imagine HIS family was treating you that way...it must be very frustrating, especially if he loves you and cares for you with all his heart...

i wish you all the best and pray that Allah gives you the patience and strength you need to overcome this... (F)(F)(F)

  3. you know what people have asked for? a big bottle of tylenol .

omg I gave my husband tylenol when he had a huge headache and you'd think I had just made the sun rise or something!!! rofl...hours upon hours of him tying a hijab wicked tight around his head and drinking some lemon tea and I was like, here try this and voila in 20 minutes no more headache!

lmaooooooooo!!!!! i thought my grandmother was the only one who did that!!!!!!!!!!!!! hahahahhahahahahah...tooo funny!!!

tylenol and vapor rub are two things we usually bring....make up and sunscreen are alwasy appreciated.....if the winters get really cold, i thought of, but have yet to buy those blankets that heat up...i think they'd loooove that!! hmm...if i think of something else, i'll let you knwo...

  6. Happy Wednesday!! Hope everyone enjoyed their day!!

    Happy Hump Day everyone!

Yesterday was shot day for baby so last night was NOT FUN. Lets see if today is any better......

    aww...poor thing :( i know what that's like, i remember my little niece....hope she's feeling better...

I LOVE this shirt and it's on sale but does anyone know what sort of material viscose is? Specifically is it heavy or light enough for spring/summer?

    http://www.shukronline.com/wb1901.html

viscose is a very soft material, definitely great for summer and spring...

    Happy Hump Day!!!!!!!!!!!!

What paperwork etc do I need Jack to bring with him to continue our journey after he arrives here. I see Cheryl said he will need a birth certificate translated into English. Is there anything else?

I hope we get more visa news today.

anything and everything you could think of! lol...and it's better to do it asap! make sure you have official translations of the marriage certificate, birth certificate, college transcripts, also, if he can get an official copy of his transcript, signed and sealed by the college (if he's considering being licensed here or going on with college, etc..), umm...what else? my husband and i are going through this right now...., oh! tell him to get "shihadet khibra" from any employers--that's basically a document telling his experience, and tell him to get recommendation letters from employers, professors (if applicable)--even if they're in arabic, you can have them translated here if he doesn't have time there.....uhh.....try to think of any little thing you'd ever need as an american....try to get his high school transcript also....my husband even got his elementary and middle school papers...lol....you'd be surprised what they ask for when you're getting your degree evaluated or something....these things will be impossible to get if he's not actually there..

if i think of anything else, i'll let you know, but i think i got pretty much everything...

just curious for future reference, if DOS says your visa has been printed does that mean it gets sent via DHL that week or does it sit around collecting dust for another month or so?

After we got the email back from the embassy that the visa had been issued it took 13 days to get to Jack.

do they walk it over or something?????? What on earth takes 13 days? And why don't they just hand it in person at the embassy??? (i know you probably don't know but I'm just venting)

This could be the "hold up"

Ahhh married life.......we are making dawali and kusa mashi...hes preparing the kusa and I am in charge of 'masha-ing' :)

    jah

what is dawali and kusa? (is it like coffee? :innocent: )

haha...dawali is the jordanian/palestinian word for stuffed grape leaves--in egyptian, we call is maHshi wara' aynab...and kusa--if i'm correct is zucchini...which can also be stuffed..

  12. my prayer list now includes Sora.

    (F) amal (F)

thanks soooooo much!! i really need it :(

welcome back! sounds like you've been real busy! which company did you use to evaluate his degree? and where did you find that exam he needs to take (he's an engineer right?)

yeah...he's a civil engineer....when i was looking for jobs, i found that most of them say EIT preferred or EIT a plus...blah blah.....so i looked into the exam for him and it turns out that civil engineers and any other engineer that'll be working on projects being presented to the public will need to take it...so i looked into the requirements to take the exam...only to find that we'd have to have his transcripts sent directly from his university in egypt to the new york state department of education....imagine doing that from a foreign country....it took him a while to do..they thought he was kidding...they said they never did that for anyone before...Thank GOD he's still there now..otherwise i don't know what we would've done....so, he's having his transcripts sent to the new york state dept of education....then, they will say whether he's eligible to take the exam or not....i see you're in california...so there may be different requirements for you...just google "california state board of engineers" and you'll find a lot of info on that....i have so many websites saved...but the most helpful would be ncees.org and the california state board of engineers....good luck...let me know if you have any questions about it...i'm easy to contact throught PM.. :) good luck with everything!!

hope everyone had a nice monday...take care (L)

  13. it's been a while since i posted, or even logged onto visajourney..i miss you all!!!

    Happy Monday!!!!!!!!

...i've been feeling so blaaah lately, waiting for my husband.....insha allah 12 more days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i should be more excited...but there is SOOOOOO much to do, finishing up his resume, looking for jobs, getting his degree evaluated--for the SECOND time!!!!! by NYS, so he could register to take the FE Exam in October...ugh!!! :bonk: and along side that...i'm taking 5 classes...midterms and papers are taking their toll on me....i need some prayers :( hopefully, i'll be graduating this August...not 100% sure yet..but i'm working on it...then i can focus on myself for a little bit...school sucks!!! lol...

anyway, now that i'm done with my rant... i hope everyone is well!! i've really missed you all and i hope all is going well....i haven't had a chance to look through the mena forum to find out who's had their visa issued...but i pray that this journey is over soon for everyyyyyone that is waiting! congratulations to everyone who got their visas, interview date, etc!!!

    take care..

    all the best!! (L)(L)(L)

  14. Yeah, but in some countries (like Canada fer instance) cigarettes are not sold in drug stores. Haven't been for quite a few years.

Wow. So where do you buy them then?

I know my wife has said that taxes on cigarettes in Canada are obscenely high, so coupled with limited venues to smoke in, smoking in general has gone way down. My wife and I don't smoke, so neither of us take much notice of these things (which would probably explain why I didn't realize London Drugs didn't sell cigarettes). I just know cigarettes can be bought in places like Walgreen's and CVS because I see them there all the time.

it's just ironic that you would find something like cigarettes in a store where people go to buy something to restore their health...lol...i never realized that cigarettes were sold in pharmacies--but now that i think of it...it is pretty strange..haha...

    Happy Wednesday Everyone!!!
    (L)(F)

I've missed you all--haven't been on here in a while...I was sooooooooo excited to see the new visas in hand...and I CANNOT wait to see Visas in Hand going down every list we've got going on here...It feels just as amazing hearing from you all as it did when i heard it.. :luv::luv:

I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying their day...I've been super busy with school and preparing for my husband's arrival...almost 2 months with the visa and we're still not together--we just didn't expect that he would receive the visa so soon and he needed some time to take care of work and all that...now he's packing his life into 2 bags and preparing for travel...he'll be here, hopefully on april 5th, inshaaaa allah...

Bridget, we looked at tickets online and for some reason, they came out to about $500 on weekdays and almost double for friday, saturday and sunday...lol...but my husband bought his ticket from an office and he got his ticket for $500 for a saturday...

I wish you all the best!! you're all in my prayers!!!! take care and enjoy the rest of your day...i pray that i always hear good news from you all!

    (L) all my love... (L)
