  1. my husband brought a bunch of his music on cds but they were copies and for some reason they dont work in the car, stereo or pc here:(

He was able to download quite a bit of songs so that was good :) then he purchased a car that did not have a cd player :(

you mean arabic songs? here's an amazing website for arabic mp3s --- Nogomi

you have to make an account, but it's all free and it's really nicely organized.. :) oh, and you can only download 20 songs per day..haha..

  2. I felt bad because I knew how close my husband is to his mom (only son, youngest child, small family) but hey! Time heals wounds... try not to stress over it and enjoy the fact that he's coming!! better get cleaning and planning fun things to do, girlie! :D

sereia, we strangely have soooooo much in common!! lol!! my husband is also the youngest and only son!!!!! hahaha...

Then she hugged and kissed our son and started wailing! When she got to my husband, she actually fell to the floor.

omg that would have broken me into little bits. :(

I think this is why he's not going to have them come to the airport with him. :(

I probably would have made the decision right then and there that i was not going back to america...hahaha...i'm so weak! lol..

Just got finished chatting with Akram, and asked him about his mother. He said "She's fine alhamdulillah and no comment". That meant , don't ask how she feels, so I didn't go there. I told her, I hope she still loves me, and he said, she does, but I'm her favorite now! (that was referring to a comment a year ago when he said, it seems like she favors you more than me!).

He told me this was life, and that everyone will get used to the idea of him not being there insha Allah. And that the communication (through internet, calling cards, etc) would still be there, "so please Ayesha don't worry, everything will be fine insha Allah".

I'll let you guys know about the ticket when he books it insha Allah he'll book it this Sunday. (don't want to say the date yet, in case of that evil eye! )

    Hugs,

    Ayesha (F)

your husband sounds like my husband, lol...he always says "this is life, if i wasn't going to travel to america with you, i was going to travel to another country for work...my mother knows that well and although she's going to be upset, it has nothing to do with you" ...his mother says that also, she knew it was going to happen either way...

when i say i feel guilty...it's not that i feel like we're doing something wrong...it's just that i can't stand to see anyone cry...it really kills me...and i know that insha allah, once he's here, everything will be fine and they'll get used to it...it's just difficult at the moment...

HisLittleMasriyah--insha Allah all will go well and it will be an easy adjustment for you, babe! :)

i pray that everything goes well for everyone, insha Allah..

  3. It's insidious the way it creeps back on you for sure!!!! I hate it! I have to watch every little thing I eat or faggitaboutit.

I have never done the special K but that's definitely a good way to ease yourself into it. Not sure how easy it will be though seeing as your hubby will be here soon and you'll be cooking all those yummie meals! I totally can't wait till after the operation so I can eat as much as he'll be eating!

you know, i've come to a point where, i don't care what happens, i just wanna lose this weight!!! i don't wanna be the girl that "let herself go" after marriage!!!!..that will NOT happen, insha Allah!!! it's just school and the stress and depression...ugh what it did to me!!! alhamdulillah...

special K is going well..i don't like checking the scale too often, but ppl say they're seeing a difference in me...alhamdulillah!! i haven't heard that in foreverrr!! haha...

what operation are you doing? sorry if you already said it earlier in the post...i didn't actually read it all

chaishai Posted Today, 06:32 PM I have an idea to boost the thread! What if we each post a challenge for the day, and all of us agree to do it, and we check in that we did it!

Challenge for tonight - do 100 crunches! Even if you did crunches already today, do another 100!

chaishai, i'm on it!!!!!!!! lol...that's an amazing idea! i didn't do it yet, but i will!! i must!!

Jenn! Posted Today, 08:42 PM Ok, I'm gonna think up a good one. Everyone better do it too - amal, bridget, julianna, jen, sora, henna...imma hunt u down so watch out!

lol...yes, mother. :( haha...that is really a good idea! we all should reallyyy motivate eachother!! it's so simple to do 100 crunches, for example, and it doesn't take anyyy time!! but it's just so difficult with no motivation..

WE CAN DO THIS!!!:dance::dance: lol..

  4. thanks for referring me, bridget! lol

i'm going through this right now!!!!!!!! i feel so bad! :crying: makes me wanna pick up and go to him--but it'll be the same exact thing...lol...his sisters and mother are devastated and i'm sure they've been crying for a while...his mother was depressed since the interview, cuz she knew the day was coming closer...

i don't know what to do...and when i hear them crying, i cry and then, i only make things worse :crying: they're always like "please take care of him...etc" i wish he wasn't the youngest or the only son!! lol...it would be easier, i think..

i just pray that Allah makes this easy on everyone..

I know how your feeling with the guilt. His mom is 73 and this is her first child to leave so far from home. She's been crying all week. Just about every member of his family has gotten on the phone to tell me...Sehrab from my heart..which is there way of saying please take care of him.

He didn't leave himself much time to linger with them at the airport and I think that made it easier on him to leave. Not as much building up about him leaving while they are sitting waiting. Still his mom is having the toughest time...he's the baby of the family and the one she always relies on to help her. I've worked it out where he is just a phone call away from them and vise versa, I'm hoping that eases things and makes her feel better. I expect them to be on the phone all the time...at least for awhile.

    we're in the same boat!

  7. Every embassy has a different process, I guess..So, if you are filing with the US embassy in UAE, it seems as though you will need all the documents and forms for the very first appointment you will make. So you should make an appointment and prepare the paperwork for them. I wish you all the best...I hope I helped in some way :)

I pray that your journey is very smooth, easy, and faaaaaaaast!!! ;)

  8. that video really really is unbelievable!!!!! i still don't believe it's true--that scares the ####### out of me, i must say!!! i don't know if i wanna be a teacher anymore  i always said i wanted to teach in elementary school cuz young children are so innocent....but....i don't even know anymore....that's terrible!!!!!! seriously, what's wrong with children these days!!!!! is there something in the water??.. the only thing about this news story that made me believe it was true was that they said it happened in a school for children with learning disabilities....it wouldn't be funny if they joked about that..

whoa...i hope it's just a really bad joke..

  10. Firstly, this thread looks fantabulous!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and it will definitely come into amaaazing use when i spend more time cooking as opposed to writing papers and studying for exams!!!!!!!!!!!!

Secondly, I would like to add the recipe for falafel, or as Egyptians call it, taa'meyya..--as per Bridget's request (sry i took forever!!)

    Here goes..

    Ingredients:

1 pound dried, white fava beans

1 bunch: parsley, coriander, green onions

    1 yellow onion

    1 whole head of garlic

First, you'll have to sit the fava beans in cold water for about 2 days--changing the water every 2-3 hours. After that, you simply blend it all together until it is very smooth...

Then, you can pack it into little plastic bags and store it in the freezer.

When you wanna use it, take out a bag and let it defrost--this shouldn't take more than a couple of hours, depending on how big the bag is...

After it defrosts, put it into a bowl and break an egg on it. Then you add spices--cumin, salt, pepper, dry ground coriander--to taste..

Then, use a spoon to form little balls and fry it until brownish...

There's also something else you can make with the mixture--it's call 'igga...it has more egg in it...you take about a tablespoon or so of the falafel "batter" and put it in a separate bowl--then break an egg on it and mix it lightly, then fry--that taste amazing--i like it more than regular falafel...but do this all the way at the end when you're done frying--cuz, the oil gets all bubbly/foamy...cuz of the eggs..

    hehe..

you can serve falafel and 'igga with tomatoes, lettuce, pita, mayo, and tahina [sesame paste]....

sorry for the stupid way i typed it...i'm no chef and i was translating instructions my mother gave me...lol..

enjoyyy....if you have any questions, lemme know and i'll definitely pass them on to mama...hehe...

  11. This thread makes this song come to my mind about a girl expressing her love about her man when he first said I love you to her everybody should download it or look it up on Imeem or Youtube -(Jannat - Kelmet Bahebak) if you want me to translate to english let me know if you really like the song  so romanticcccc

hehe..i totally have that uploaded on my facebook page!!! lol! fabulous song!!!!

  12. I hope your wife enjoyed her day, insha allah! (F)

I don't wanna carry on the "fight" and I don't mean anyyyyy disrespect to anyone...I just wanted to mention--as an Egyptian born and raised in America, I know that some jokes that are normal for us here may not be understood by someone who was raised outside, not only in Egypt, I mean everywhere. I can see why tenderheart misunderstood the "get a room" joke...and I understand why moody was surprised by the response..

i tell ppl to "get a room" all the time :) i actually said it to a friend today while we were out for lunch...[she was definitely enjoying her ice cream a little more than usual!!] lol..

it's a common joke that's used here in the US, and it's usually said in a loving, joking kind of way.. :)

    anyway, i hope no one's angry-- :D

take care (L) enjoy the rest of the day!

Edited to fix some really stupid spelling mistakes...hehe...
