Hardship vs. long-term processing. It doesn't make sense. Is it possible to do something to accelerate the processing of hardship waiver? Could we send letters to DOS other than the email 212ewaiver@state.gov, like sending message to Antony Blinken? 

Thanks for your answer. For my case, it is 15 months since DOS received my I-612/613.

I just found my  hardship waiver received the favorable recommendation on 07/12/2023. The I-612 and I-613 were received on April 07, 2022 by DOS. Good luck to everyone!

My J has also expried and stayed in my home country. We are in real hardship now.

Mine is similar. Currently, my J1 has expired but it is still pending in DOS. The response from DOS is always "copy and paste". My US kid has medical problems. But they don't care. We have to leave the US this month.

Yes. It is impossible for the US kid to live indepently in the USA without their J visa parents. But the time of recommedation is horribly long. when the J program end, they have to leave. As a result, the US kid with medical problems will have not sufficient medical support in the home country of their parents. Nobody care the kids' health?

Due to the delay recommendation from DOS (9 months, still pending) and a denied O1, my whole family has to leave the US and return to my home country in several days. No job, no income, no medical care, no school. My US kid with medical problem is on the way losing every support. Helpless and desperate! I hope you will have a good luck.

We are in the 10 month, but grace period now. No job. The US kid will lose medical care within this month.

Yes, it seems all the actions are useless. But that is all we can do. Currently I have been in the edge of giving up the immigration to the US due to the J waiver. Maybe pursuing PR in Australia or Canada is an alternative and better option.

I can totally understand your feeling. My US child has complicated medical problem and our J will expire right after Christmas in this month. My emotion is very very very bad due to the delayed processing time in DOS. If we go back to the home country, there is no doubt that the US child will be in exceptional hardship condition rapidly. very limited medical care, no education available for her. Most of the J1 visa holders are making significant contribution to the US. I have no idea why DOS has to put the hardship applicants to real hard ship!

It seems that a lot of hardship applicants have to meet real hardship at the end. My J will expire this month. So disappointed.
