Guys,
Could you please tell how much time these days it’s taking for green card to be mailed and received? I came from Canada and moved to Texas on IR1.
Thank you so much!

I would like to keep my car and it's actually already in US (Canadians can keep the car in US for upto 1 year). Can anyone shed some light into it. Thank you!

Hello,
Anyone brought their car from Alberta or Canada, and registered in Texas. Can you please shed some light on it, the correct way and documents required. TIA

It appears the DS-5535 may now be processing quicker. Today, exactly 80 days after submitting my DS-5535, the Consulate has requested my passport back.
This is Great news. Hope it works out of everyone. We waited 9 months however glad it's over now!

You can change it at port of entry at your first crossing, CBP will confirm the address. Otherwise, AR-11.
Thank you Sir!

T

@Mmk2112 the address was provided on your DS260 form and that will be the address your GC will be mailed to. Estimated 4 weeks up to 6 months. Your SSN should come within 2week upon arrival, but if you need it sooner for work or such, you might need to visit a SSA office to get the number sooner.
Thank you for quick reply and sorry for confusion. In DS 260 the canadian mailing address was provided. Is that the address GC will be mailed to? if yes, then how can i change it to US address?

Don’t forget to pay the IV fee (green card) fee $220 prior to crossing but it’s okay to pay after crossing too (just will delay producing of your Physical GC)
Thank you. That's already paid. Do I have to fill any form?
So as i understand the process is simple. Pay the fees, cross the border and get your visa stamped ? And the green card will arrive in mail? Where do we have to provide mailing address? TIA

Congratulations. Update from my side:
By the Blessings of God, my Status says Visa Issued today May 18th, 2023. It's without WOM and here's my timeline. IR1 Case:
- Interview Date: 12th Sept 2022
- DS5535 Email send: 13th Sept 2022
- Sent a query to embassy every month after 3 months passed
- Visited wife on Canadian passport without single problem. Crossed border about 6 - 8 times till today.
- New medical request came in, 6th April 2023.
- New medical completed 2nd May 2023. Sent RCMP updated certificate (wasn't asked about it)
- New medical sent 15th May 2023
- Visa status says 'Issued' 18th May 2023
I wish all and everyone here the best wishes. I know it's a painful journey, however my suggestion is that recently embassy has picked up pace on AP cases, so think before you file a WOM. Good luck to everyone!!!!
Can anyone please tell me what's the steps from here! Just cross the border with stamped visa and tell CBP officer to stamp green card number on passport? TIA

Dear all, I hope this helps someone with decisions regarding WOMs and lawyers.
- we retained the services of PIC law firm on February 13th of this year.
- However, beginning February 14th I started noticing changes to our Case last updated date on CEAC so I requested Chris to hold off on filing the WOM.
- Meanwhile, I started emailing the Consulate weekly.
- I don't necessarily think it had anything to do with my emails or the lawsuit because the consulate had no idea that I had retained PIC but after my second email, I was informed that we had cleared AP.
- 2 weeks after that they requested a new medical.
- 6 days after they received the new medical out visa was issued and we received our passport the day after our visa was issued.
I highly recommend PIC for several reasons, Chris is extremely personable and you get direct access to your attorney, which to me is a plus point but most importantly if they haven't filed the WOM and you receive notification that you cleared AP, they will refund 78% of your money (at least they did for us).
Technically, we cleared AP without a WOM. It took just shy of 9 months from the date of our interview to clear AP and an additional 1 month to complete a new medical and receive our passport with visa. As frustrated as I have been with the Montreal Consulate, I do think that they are starting to at least attempt to clear people through AP without WOMs, but it is taking them6-12 months to do so.
Congratulations. Update from my side:

Hey guys!
I hope everyone is doing well.
I just wanted to let everybody know I travelled to the states with no issues at all, in fact it was the smoothest process lol.
I am considering filing writ of mandamus and got in touch with Goldstein, Hacking, and PIC as we are discussing the best option for us.
Goldstien and hacking told us we would be eligible to file a case after 60 days (43 days left) and still waiting to hear back from PIC, they said they’ll contact us within 24 hours.
Will keep everyone updated.
for those who filed , which one did you find the best for you?
When was your interview and how long it's been?

Our interview was September 14th 2022 and we got DS-5535 the next day. We got the email to send the passport and new medical March 30th, but my fiancé was in the US until mid-April and couldn’t get a medical slot until the beginning of May, so he just got everything sent in today. Hoping everything will be quick!
Hi there, I'm in a similar situation. My interview was on 12th Sept 2022 and I received request for new medical on April 6th. It's completed on May 2nd and sent to embassy today May 12th. Please keep me posted about any updates. I will also Pm you. Good wishes for everyone!

It gets sent off for clearance with one or more three letter agencies, who run your information. There are different types of “hits” and each has a protocol.
That's a good sign. It means your application is progressing. Good Luck!

Thanks, so assuming you bring adequate proof of ties , you are ok to enter as a Canadian on B1/B2? Even if under AP with DS5535?
Just curious if anyone was asked by cbp about their DS5535, I am assuming they will see it when they scan you in, and if you have to go to secondary to explain.
No they don't ask such DS 5535 questions. However they will ask about returning dates and if you have return ticket, show them. or just your Canadian employment details or lease or property info. Even if you go to secondary (which is random) you will be cleared as you're legally good to visit USA for upto 6 months.

Hi Shawn,
Same here...we had our interview a couple of weeks back and with the same DS5535. The CO did mention that it should be processed sooner than a few months and as the medicals may expire in a few months.
I also have a common name which triggered DS5535. Hoping it finishes soon.
Cheers!.
Hope it works out for you man. Good luck

Hi everyone,
DS-5535 veterans: will any of my previous employers be contacted for verification?
I'm trying to call some of them but they've probably changed numbers or simply ignoring me.
Thanks.
I don’t think so they will contacted however they can be contacted if anything suspicious. That’s just my opinion. Good luck!

In the recent 221g documents they are asking documents with passport and if there is DS5535 then you also get an email.with questions which needs to be sent..
Sorry you didn’t understand my situation. I’m in DS5535 since sept and I have already sent my questionnaire. Now I have received an email for medical again because my previous one expired on Feb 16th.
my question was that with email request for new medical report, there’s also a link to send documents. However, medical are sent electronically by clinics directly to embassy so I’m confused why I’m given the link to send document !! Hope I’m clear this time!

Are passports mentioned in this email ?
No passport is not mentioned in email. I have given them my Pakistani passport and my Canadian passport is with me. So that’s why passport is not requested.
Is it usually mention in email to send the passport in ? It’s only mentioned new medical report is required..
-
Hello Guys, I’m confused a bit if anyone can guide me.
I received en email from embassy stating that additional documents are required which is
- a new medical report
but I’m also given a link for their courier services to provide additional documents. Aren’t the medical is sent via electronically now? Why they have provided me a link for mailing documents? Any idea anyone ? TIA

Hey guys please please advise me our status was in ‘Application received’ since March 22nd now today it changed back to ‘Refused’. Does anyone know why it happened? My second medical and passport was requested on Dec 29 2022 after more than a year ( 2021) of DS5535. It still says though non immigrant application and date created to be recently ( we are k1 visa) We are super depressed now 🥺
I can't comment for sure on this, However I have seen before that status change to refuse, received etc before any final approval. I think since they have asked for your passport and medical, you're almost there with your process. Good luck

Hello everyone,
I recently had my interview April 05 (yesterday) and received DS 5535. another journey to wait...
I have a question, can i visit my wife in the states with no issues? She is pregnant and expecting this october and I really don't want to miss out on my first baby.
I am still working and can provide them proof of employment and recent paystubs (tie to canada). I definitely won't want to risk any chances but I truly cannot miss the birth of my first child.
Does anyone know how long does it takes to receive the email for DS5535 questions ?
Best of luck to everyone.
If you're a canadian citizen you may visit your wife in US for upto 6 months. No issues on it, just simple questions by officers. You have to tell them you're going to visit your wife and might provide them with an address. They might ask you where do you work, when you will return etc. Thats' all. Good luck

It's exactly 6 months since my interview and the consulate has requested a new medical and my passport!
I won't really believe it until I have my visa in hand.
I hope this means DS-5535 cases will be processed more quickly and the yearlong waits are over.
(No WOM filed.)Great news Congrats. Hope it works out for you from here

If you are Canadian citizen you can visit US for upto 6 months at a time
receive the green card after arrival, share your OS155A status

Yes, you have to pay Green card fees before or after landing ASAP. When I paid it was about $220 USD. Once they receive fees, only when they will start processing green card !!
