  1. I saw part of it on the news on BBC America, I thought the opening looked pretty pants, a bit too much like the weakest link looking set

From what I gathered after reading a bit of a summary of the debate was labor and tory's going at eachother and lib dems getting a lot of opportunities to chime in with their standpoint whilst the other two argued amongst themselves. I've instructed my Dad on who to vote for with my proxy vote and if he votes Labour that I'll disown him

  2. Btw, does anyone know how we're able to vote from America?

there's some useful info here, I applied for voting by proxy and listed my Dad as my proxy and sent it off to Braintree. about a week later he'd been sent forms to sign (and I had to co-sign) to agree. Although I think Braintree Council messed up and sent voting by mail stuff to him back in sept and as we were there visiting anyway I signed the postal voting forms just in case the polling card never turns up come voting week.

  3. Just thought I'd pop in a quick hello.... The other day We looked at summer hols to back home..

We cant seem to find anything less than $2600-3K for the flights alone so we've started back at looking to book our belated honyemoon to Walt Disney World, the whole package deal for a week we've been eying up is still a good $200 cheaper than the flights to Heathrow. We had my parents come stay with us for Christmas so we're doing ok on our supplies Mum brought with her. Just missing the rest of my Family at the moment:(.

Paul's hopefully going to have a manager interview within the next few weeks/month  So excited for him, his current manager is backing him all the way had been pushing him to apply for the manager position and he's even been working as acting manager for a few nights here and there running two terminals all by himself. So proud of him, he's only been a supervisor for just over a year (he got the promotion offer on the morning of my AOS interview). He's such a sweetheart saying he doesn't want to get his hopes up, but like last year I've been telling him to have more confidence in himself and I know he'll always do well.

He's also such a stinker.. I love to paint and have combined that with my love for Disney after they released these little Vinylmation figures, thanks to Paul and one of our friends I somehow have been talked into doing custom orders for friends and friends of friends and now we have an excuse to go to Disneyland pretty much every week to pick up more of the blank figures to paint O_o and I have a nice little income from it to not have to deal with the "when are you going to go back to Nursing? you want to go train as what? Midwifery whats that? oh right why aren't you doing it then?" barrage of questions every big family gathering my in-laws have LOL

Anyway hellos as I munch on my Mint matchmakers (thanks Mum!)

  4. I made hubby buy some strawberry ice cream from Fresh&Easy the other day.. weird that place, looks like our old tesco's in braintree, set out the same but has ####### all Brit stuff, like the ribs from there and the BBQ packs of chicken, sausages and burgers. Just not anything else that I'd been pining for, We ended up going to get some golden syrup from world market a few weeks ago too.. was going to use it to bake these cookie recipes Mum had given me but it's too tempting, sitting on the shelf taunting me saying there's a spoon.. or you could just drink me O_o lol

  5. Way off topic but - this made me chuckle.

Hubby called a lady who had erroneously called his cell phone number saying she had our dog, etc (our dog was obviously with us!). The moment she heard that accent, she was OVER the moon about how he'd made her day and that she's a big Rod Stewart fan (big tattoo on her arm to boot) and that if he ever wanted to call her back just to talk, she would be so happy that he did.

He never gets tired of people telling him they love his accent - which happens almost daily, I swear.

Random people in shopping markets make me giggle when they say that, although half them cant decide if I'm a brit or aussie O_o you need to get him answering the phone at home to the annoying sales people, convince them that they have called England, it's evil but hilarious to hear them go oh ####### I've called the UK! - I find them highly annoying so when it's not some silly recording I like to have fun :P

  6. Behold the Sprunch!

    1206541401-22192_full.jpg

I remember pinching Mum's Sprunch to do my hair for a party, thinking I was going to have my locks look all perfectly curley.. not a good look for me back then or ever lol. Almost as bad as crimping my hair.. oh the shame of how we used to think that was a good look, thank god someone took the home-crimper idea and made straighteners!

  7. We usually go, well hubby usually works the con but they moved it a week later this year.. right onto our original anniversary. Last year was my first convention and was a blast working in guest relations (getting to swoon over Kai and Gareth from torchwood was nice too). Bummer is hubby's evil ex-gf works the office, we'd already planned spending the weekend at Disneyland or I'd be having so much fun tormenti.. I mean saying hello to her (I'm not evil I swear).

Anyway have fun, most there are really nice and the artist pannel is always good to go look at ;)

  9. We did the same thing as Rito, I came out and stayed for a few 3-month visits, met a lot of Paul's friends and met up again with some of our mutual friends from a game we all used to play. It made it a lot easier for me to come over and not feel as homesick, actually I still haven't felt homesick in the way of missing things or places, just family I miss, 2 months after we married my grandfather was diagnosed with Aggressive Non-Hodgkin s lymphoma and I couldn't get AP quick enough to go back to see him before he passed away, but the network of friends Paul helped me build up helped no end. And we've since been back to the UK for a little visit and got to stock up on hugs and make lots of memories with family, enough to tide us over till June or July probably when we hope to go back for another visit. I also get to talk to my parents a lot on MSN/Yahoo and on the phone and I spent a good 5 1/2 months talking them into coming out here and staying with us over Christmas, We're lucky Paul has a good gov' job and we can live comfortably on a single income and not have to worry about me taking my time getting sorted with where to go next with my nursing, for that I know I'm extremely lucky. We've just bought our first car together and we moved to a bigger apartment and I'm determined to tackle my problem of getting lost on grid-like roads, (something about it disorientates me coming off freeways) and get back to driving. although I can easily walk to our nearest shops easily and I've even walked all the way from here to the beach before back when we were in our tiny apartment when I got stir crazy.

mini tangent over.. if he's homesick for foods and such, you can easily bring back dry packed foods when you plan to visit the UK, my folks packed their suitcase up with yummies like a huge jar of Branston pickle and chocolates and sweets you can only seem to get there and had no problem getting them through customs. even without transport walking to places can do a world of good if you have that cooped up feeling as it'll take you longer than driving and keep you out and about for longer, plus it's great exercise and those lovely endorphins that go with vigorous exercise (love that it's cool enough here to jog places in the mornings still). The sadness might just be a phase, I know after the newness wears off I got pretty fed up of people not being able to say or spell "Gemma" just because it was something I could pinpoint as being frustrating and doing that made it worse, only way around it was going back to getting Paul to help spell out my name as for some reason certain people hear the British accent and get the deer in the headlights effect and are oblivious as to what I'm saying and adapting the way I pronounce letters and such. Hopefully it is just a phase before he adjusts more.
