maryliz got a reaction from KompaChuy in April 2024 - AOS Filers
My AOS was received April 16th. The check was cashed and notice sent. I received the I-797, then the paper with the online access code and then the biometrics appointment.  You can see the PDF of the biometrics in your USCIS Documents account tab once it has been scheduled.  We decided to also do the I-765 and it was received May 8th and I over the weekend I can see it was received.

I feel like everyone rushed to get their applications in before the increase in fees and that might be why it's taking longer...just my personal opinion.

Case still not touched… we’re officially in the 20% left behind to be outside of standard processing time. Im so broken over this stupid process. I really wanted us to be together by Christmas and now it looks like that’s not gonna happen 😔

First, I am so sorry for this news for you and your family.  I am not sure on slowing the process of the visa however I have experience with pancreatic cancer.  I do not want to be a downer or the bearer of bad news but I went through this less than two years ago with my Dad.  He was diagnosed in December and passed by July and that was with aggressive chemo.  Of course everyone is different.   My suggestion is to have your fiance attend the medical appoints with her Mom and discuss options and what they feel is the timeframe.  Explain the situation you are in with the visa to the doctor so they can explain what the different stages of this cancer can look like.  Again, I'm so sorry for this terrible news.

It's a topic many of us struggle with.  It's a personal choice for everyone-don't let anyone tell you it's a bad choice or make you second guess your decision.  Personally, I chose the K1 because I could not bear to marry my fiancée and then leave him.  I also want him to see where I live before we get married. I realize in the long run it will cost more money but for me it's worth it. The headache on top of the heartache if we were married and then he came here and hated it and wanted to go back is not something I'm willing to risk.  Sure, it could still happen down the road but I still think K1 is the right choice for us.  I'm trying to remain optimistic that they will be able to make progress and clear the backlog but really know one knows. It's all speculation.  Hang in there!

    Hello...Welcome!

For those who have just filed your I-129f application with USCIS, this thread has been created for your needs and for you to be with others experiencing different aspects of this journey. This is a place to ask questions and to share experiences. All are here to learn together.

Stay patient because this is a long process currently running 11-13 months for your NOA2 or petition approval by USCIS (first stage). Then your petition will be sent to NVC (second stage) and finally your interview at the embassy (third stage).  Also, do not compare yourself to others....Some will receive NOA-2 faster than others, some will be stuck at NVC for longer and then finally some will receive interviews fairly quickly at embassy. STAY PATIENT!

Please create the timeline in your profile. Also note that USCIS goes by "Received date" :

    Example
    I-129 F Sent -  May 2, 2022
    I-129 F Received - May 5, 2022 (NOA-1)
    I-129 F - Notice Date - May 9, 2022

In this example your NOA-1 should be May 5. This will help you fill out your timeline properly.
