  1. If you take him in cabin with you I'd dip your fingers in water every hour of so and let him lick them. I did it on my flight a couple of years ago. Other than that, line the carrier with newspaper and, if your flight is delayed, let him have a few laps of water. If he pees it will be absorbed.

You can also get special liners that are super absorbent (a bit like nappies but flat and for cats!) and lay on the bottom of the carrier.

I've actually bought some puppy training liners for his little carrier...someone also suggested that I use a drip bottle but I'm not sure how to attach it to his carrier. It's one of the American Kennel Club ones and it looks like I'll have to put it on the inside instead of feeding the tube through a hole in the mesh.

That failing, I'll let him lick my fingers =D. Thank you!

    Magpie.

LOL damn our cat loved the flight - SHERPA is too cool and he was in that sucker for over 15 hours xxxxx bless that git

thanks all for the previous help and info - always put animals in cabin with ya

    * Case Status Retrieval Failed

    * This Receipt Number cannot be found at this time in this automated system. Please check your case receipt number to see if it is correct. If you have questions or concerns about your case status, please contact the National Customer Service Center.

i am unable to get through to anyone on the phone at 800-375-5283. because it doesnt recognize my reciept number there either, i am unable to do anything. the stupid recording keeps saying there is customer service available, but there is no prompt for getting to them. please help. does anyone know how i can actually speak to a person there???

Yeah today holiday and sometimes it will take a few weeks for case status to show up - dont worry - it will be there and then you can be complusive about checking it every hour like we did

  4. I got approved too woo hoo :dance::dance:

where in the waiting room were you stevo? what was your number lol i was 5019! Congratulations

Congrats Stuart! I was number 5003.. I got there at 7:30am this morning. The whole process only took around 1.5 hours, did you have to wait a long time? By the time I left, the embassy was pretty crowded.

WHoot - here here lol congrats!

Just a heads up from information I have seen elsewhere.

It seems the London Embassy at the moment are not accepting equity in UK property as an asset acceptable on the I-864. Someone has reported being knocked back when they had ample equity in their UK house, as to quote them - the US Embassy would not let us use our house as an asset "due to the current market".

Wow news - when we did ours and since the house was sold it was totally acceptable - its still an asset but who knows with the economy anymore

    Cheers!!!!!!

  5. Susie K - tell us more about your first month together - how is 'proper' married life at last?? I was in the US with my husband for nearly 3 months this summer and it was wonderful. (am back in the UK now to do interview etc)

  7. SSN 2 to 3 weeks after arrival, if it goes 30 days or more, then visit SSA office for a replacement card.

Upon entry you WILL get an I-551 stamp in passport, making your passport act as a temp green-card, essentially you have green-card the moment you arrive. The actual card can take 30 - 90 days to get.

Thanks mate, will go down to SS office this week then and do a replacement card - well done and cheers!

  8. First of all congrats to all that have wandered across the pond and finally made it!!! WEEE

I know that this has been posted so many times, but quick question for the recent arrivals - any timeframes seen on receiving of SSN and greencard for IRI/CRI arrivals?

POE stated 2-3 weeks, well sorta blew that one off, but is it best to go and apply at this point - almost a month - omg - wow -

anways any points well taken on the shoulder

cheers and congrats to all and god speed to the rest of the mates soon to be transported to the USA

  9. UPDATE:

Wednesday, October 9, my husband called to say the Embassy phoned to let him know his visa was ready to process. They apologized for it going to the CDC in the first place. They said they were going to look into what happened.

Anyway, SMS picked up his passport on Thursday and we counted it as well as Friday in the 3 days it should take to process it and get it back. Unfortunately, we got a bit worried when we did not hear anything Monday from SMS. We were unaware the Embassy took US holidays and were closed for Columbus day. So Tuesday the Embassy told my husband he would have his passport with visa on Thursday. And for once, they were right.

He flew home Friday and we are finally together.

Thank you all for your support, PM's and replies of encouragement.

    Good luck to all,

    Andy and LisaJo

WHew - thank god mates congrats what a journey and so glad u made it xxxxxxxxx

  10. Yup - I can confirm that if you spend 20 odd quid on getting your visa delivered in one business day, it's a waste of time. I just received my visa today and that is two business days for £14.50!!! Like Damian got his in 2 days too. Woooohooooo I can relax I got it now :D

AHHHH I MISSED IT CONGRASTS LUV AND WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

  11. It's your gross income but where you are self-employed it will be taken after your adjustments are made.

Each Consulate can be very different in their requirements, especially where the I-134 really has no legal standards set.

I contacted Auckland and asked specifically what they would require from me being self-employed. In our case it was last years tax returns (1099 with all schedules), letter from contractors stating I had an ongoing relationship/jobs with them and I also sent some pay sheets as well.

    Very true Kimand Russ,

Donna whatever you do dont call USCIS - thats just a major cluster ya know what - xxxxxxx

Some pretty good advice here but from the I-130 status is was after adjustments, but pray that PSHBRK shows up - guy knows all

  13. There are no words that can describe my happiness for you my dear friend - for we were side by side and gave each other support this whole time - there is no WHERE ELSE that can happen but here - for we all walk in each others shoes at one point or another. My sandals are worn out, but guess what?? I dont care weeeeeeeeeeee!!!!

Habebeeeee - I am so happy for you as is Kris, what a journey, what stories we can tell and will tell down the road, but for now, I am glad to have found you, this site and all of our mates.

Our godspeed to your luv on his journey to you - HIS HOME!

    xxxxxxxx

  14. [ I think you're good to go. Until sometime in January, your petition will be in process. So until it is approved, you do not have a pending visa application. The application for a visa can be submitted only after your petition is approved and the file sent to the consulate in New Zealand. More than likely, the Department of State has no knowledge of your petition, which is to the Department of Homeland Security.

If a petition has been submitted and assigned a case number, then CBP will be very aware of it when she arrives at a POE. The CBP falls under Homeland Security as does the USCIS.

    Correct - they do know!

  15. nobody ?

If you are not required to file a tax return according to the IRS, then I would think all back up statments of what you have would be fine - your inheritance which i am guessing is banked somewhere (unless its under the mattress then I am at a lose to tell you what to do) your bank statements and SSDI should be able to show your assets.

    Good Luck

  16. You have up to three years to correct your 2007 tax return ( unti April 15, 2011). Is there some reason you want to do it right now?

I am getting our documents together for the I-864 now. I wonder if I could send a copy of the 2007 form as is with the I-864 and explain that I made a mistake, we will be filing an amended return however the income is correct and we are in the process of applying for an ITIN for Govi - if all they need is a copy of the passport page then I have that already. I was under the impression that the copy actually needed to be notarized by an American notary IN THE US or IRS official who witnessed the copy being made so his passport would need to be sent to me. If he can do it in KTM embassy then that is easy.

Yeah, I filed Married filing separately because I claim none of his income and he has no US taxable income.

I actually didn't have his ITIN when I filed, however I had sent in the application. My tax person just put Petitioned in the section for it. My husband received the ITIN about 3 weeks after I petitioned for it.

Did you have to file a separate 1040 for your husband even though he had no taxable income?

    Patti,

I filed last year as married but filing separate - and where it asked for Kris's ITIN number since we did not have one, NRA was put instead - this was fine, so you can just amend your tax return and show that - I remember someone saying that they filed single (which is wrong) but that they had xxxx amount of months to amend that -

The reason why we did not ask for ITIN was because he filed overseas, and we would he would be getting a social here upon is arrival sometime within in the next decade (sorry sik humor) there are alot of threads on this subject so just weed thru the threads posted in April and thats pretty much what you are going to see - you do not have to get him an ITIN if filing married, but separate.

Good Luck and always God Speed!
