Does anyone know of low cost airline tickets to Nigeria. And what is the best place to stay in Nigeria that's not to pricey.
I stayed in a very low budget hotel my last stay and the area was not really nice. Victoria Island is nice but very very expensive.
u can try FLY EMIRATE i think they re cheap, then bout the hotel,if u want good security nevermind the money u gonna spend, it is good to stay in save enviroment, but try airport hotel, at ikeja

after reading this post I simply have to comment.......why would anyone who entered the U.S. illegally EXPECT at ANY point to be able to file some paperwork and be given the same rights as citizens who were born in the country or others who followed the law and its process and were subsequently granted either immigrant status or citizenship. The logical outcome for your actions should be expulsion or PROSECUTION.
karenkaye u re funny, dont be too rigid and mean, people re posting here for help, we just need to give a piece of the one we have

Hy, I have a problem.
As of right now, my dad petition for us under the I-130, wich is UNMARRIED CHILD UNDER 21 OF PERMANENT RESIDENT.
Since my dad is doing everything using an Imigration attorney, I have question that she wont answer!..
Okay on February 27, 2003 ----- I got my Receipt Notice..
On October 19, 2007 ----------- I got my Approval Notice..
As you can see it took over 4 years to get this approved!!!!!!!!
Okay we live in Texas so, I guess the attorney did everything using the TEXAS SERVICE CENTER, but last October, 4, 2006 to be exact, it got transfered to the CALIFORNIA SERVICE CENTER!!! okay.
Well my dad wich he now is available to be a US Citizen, went to the attorneys office to pick my sisters and my approval notice, and to pay a fee for my moms permanent resident thingy!! sooo. the attorneys secretary, told my dad, that withing 8 months, we would have to get out of the country and go to the consulate over in Juarez i guess Mexico.... and that max we would have to stay there 3 months to get out interview there so they could give us the visa.. we got so scared, i cried, because I dont want to go to a country [ mexico ] that i have not been there since I was 1 year old, oh by the way in 18! okay.. and i dont want to leave my friends.. sooo. cuz I heard of people that supposely go over to the border for their interview and stay there for years....
sooo my dad all worried called the attorney, she explained to him, that the information that her secretary gave my dad was wrong. and that we did not have to go no where...
becuase.. she said that our interview was going to be in 8 TO 9 YEARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! CAN YOU BEALIVE THAT????
so now im conviced that im not getting nothing???
on my approval notice, it says
THE ABOVE PETITION HAS BEEN APPROVE. THE PETITION INDICATES THAT THE PERSON FOE WHOM YOU ARE PETITIONING IS IN THE UNITED STATES AND WILL APPLY FOR ADJUSMENT OF STATUS. THE EVIDENCE INDICATES THAT SHE IS NOT ELIGIBLE TO FILE AN ADJUSMENT OF STATUS APPLICATION. THIS DETERMINATION IS BASED ON THE INFORMATION SUBMITTED WITH THE PETITION AND ANY RELATING FILES. IF THE PERSON FOR WHOM YOU ARE PETITIONING BEALIVES THAT SHE IS ELIGIBLE FOR ADJUSTMENT OF STATUS, THEN SHE SHOULD CONTACT THE LOCAL INS OFFICE FOR MORE INFORMATION.
BECAUSE THE PERSON FOR WHOM YOU ARE PETITIONING IS NOT ELIGIBLE TO ADJUST, WE HAVE SENT THE APPROVED PETITION TO THE DEPARTMENT OF STATE NATIONAL VISA CENTER,,,,,, NVC PROCESSES ALL APPOVED IMIGRANT VISA WICH CONSULAR POST IS THE APPROPIATE CONSULATE TO COMPLETE VISA PROCESSING. NVC WILL THEN FORWARD THE APPROVED PETITION TO THAT CONSULATE..
---
so what can I do, since the imigration attorney that has handled all of our case says , that we have to wait for our interview wich is in 8 to 9 years!!!! hello....
please someone explain to me the procces of the i-130 and what can i do... please help.. if my dad becomes a us citizen will it help my case ????
did u enter US illegally? i guess u re, if that was the case u have to go back to ur home country for u to be interviewed, u cannot adjust staus US .
may be someone can shed more light to this
-
After my spouse came here do I need to apply for his green card? Would he automatically received his green card in the mail.
what type of visa did ur spouse enter with?

I see alot of people who file the I-130 and the I-129 either at the same time or file the I-129 after the I-130 check is cashed. Is this for people who are doing a Cr-1/IR-1 and a K-3 just to see which gets processed faster?
I am hoping that I didn't mess anything up...
LOTs of people are wishing they didn't do the I-129F at all and just did the I-130.
Me for one!
K3 is a dinosaur at this time.
USCIS loves people doing K3s as they make a LOT more money for a LOT more hassle for the petitoner.
if uscis had loved those who file k3 cos they make alot of money they should be approve faster now, so that will generate more customer for them, on k3?

I just want to be with him before the end of next year comes.. Any input or advice would be greatly appreciated.
I don't know about immigration to the UK, but if the goal is to be with your fiance before the end of next year, then despite the fact that there are some pretty hefty delays, you'd definitely be together again before the end of 2008 on a K-1. That is, assuming you have nothing special about your case. If you filed today, you'd probably be looking at June or July.
This is a wild guess on my part, and hopefully someone can give you much better information, but I doubt the timeframe for emigrating to the UK is much faster, and could even be slower.
I think the real question is: where do you and your partner want to live your lives together? Is one of you more attached to your home country than the other? Can you imagine yourself spending the rest of your life in the UK? I lived in Scotland for 3 years, and would go back in the blink of an eye if I could make a decent living there. But it's not everybody's cup of tea. The same could be said for anyone moving to America of course, which is why you shouldn't base your decision too much on how much time it's going to take to get a Visa. Base your decision on where you want to wind up. The waiting time for a Visa will be a drop in the bucket compared to the rest of your life.
Hope that helps, and best of luck to you both!
I love the UK alot and would leave the us in a heartbeat .. So he is coming here in February to the states... we could just get married then I could go back with him and apply for the visa at a british embassy there?? I thought if you were a usc then you had to apply for the visa in the country you reside in ??? argh Im confused... because if thats the case then we will just do that, and Im off to spend my life in the UK with Chris...
Thanks,
Shawna & Chris
if u love to live there fine, i mean british embassy in US if u marry in US. not in england, the one i knew was my friend who got married to a british girl
and the following week they went to british embassy and get their marriage visa, but it happens in nigeria, if it could be easy in nigeria it should be aesier to usc in us, so i will imploy u to contact british embassy. in us to find oout more, but am sure it is easier than immigrating to us on spouse visa. then later if u both change ur mind to live in us u can do DCF.
-
Okay guys Ive a question that needs lots of opinionated answers.. I know that the process to bring my fiance over here is going to be a long journey hopefully only lasting 6 months maybe more... but do you guys think it would be easier to just apply for a visa to move to the uk? I.e. less time consuming and whatnot?? Just wondering if any of you uk'ers know of anyone thats come to the uk on a fiance visa? Is the time frame still the same as far as the application and such??? Just asking this question as I already have all documentation and supporting documentation for the UK visa that is required.... I just want to be with him before the end of next year comes.. Any input or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Kind Regards,
Shawna & Chris
please elobarate, re a USC and is ur fiance a british citizen, re u trying to immigrate to uk on a spouse visa,if u re USC u dont need visa to visit UK, but if u want to live in uk with ur fiance, he can come overe to US and marry u then u will apply for marriage visa which is similarly called conditional green card, once u both marry in us, u can just go to british embassy and apply for the marriage visa which is temporary permanent resident then if u both still marry after 2 years then u will apply for indefinate permanent resident, after 3 years u will apply for british citizen ,it does not require any long time processing as i know few years back. even if u get ur temporary perment resident in uk and u both live there for couple of month u can do direct consulate filing for US later then u can both come back to states.

Yadira,
Oops. Sorry about that. I didn't look at your profile. I was just in a rush to respond to Rashid because he appeared to have gotten a very wrong answer from the misinformation line.
Hello Rashid, Urge to Race is completely right (Except that I am a SHE, LOL). Unfortunately, it is the misinformation line. I was also told the same thing you were told, and yes, they always say that the K-3 visa is not as fast and that the I-130 is better, and that the processing time at the NVC is the Same...what a load of lies!! So then I called and talked to someone else (at the CSC...using the RFE path) and they told me they were holding my husbands I-130 pending approval of his I-129F. You should call again and hopefully you will get someone more knowledgeable. Thanks!
urge to race u re also right, even if YGandMAT is a she ,sure her spouse is a he,so it goes together, we re all doing this for our spouse, the petitioner could be she and the beneficiary could be he or vice versa. hahahahah!

Does the Nigerian embassy require DNA testing for accompanying children and if so, what is the cost? Hope someone can help me with this and share their experience. More money, more money.
they might ask if they doubt the biological of the child, but prepare urself.

Looking at some of your timelines, I'm getting worried that I'm approaching the outside of normal bounds. Here is my timeline:
Marriage : 2007-06-25
I-130 Sent : 2007-07-16
I-130 NOA1 : 2007-07-27
I-129F Sent : 2007-09-19
I-129F NOA1 : 2007-09-21
Niether of the applications (I130 or I129F) have been touched yet. Should I be worried? Fortunately my company allows me to work remotely from Brazil so that I can be with my wife. I haven't seen her in 2 months, and I know you all understand how hard it is to be separated like that from your spouse. I'll be in Brazil again from Nov 25 - Jan 9 (REALLY looking forward to it!). I was hoping to hear something from USCIS or see my apps "touched" before I went down there. Nothing yet though.
To worry, or not to worry?...
touch does not mean anything alots of people dont get touch till they get approved, more so u re still within processing timeframe.

Hello there. I'm fairly new to this website. I've been looking through the discussions to help me with filing for the K-1 Visa/ I-129F. I am from Canada and my fiance is from the US. I am gathering all of the info together for him just because I am the organized one of the two and I have more time to sit down and look into everything.
I have a few questions and was hoping that someone could help me out.
1- For form I-129F Petition for Alien Fiance question #18, they want me to describe the circumstances under which we met. My fiance and I met on the internet. Now, I intend to tell the complete truth as to how we met but I was just wondering if they will look at us differently because of how we met. Also, how much in detail do they want me to describe? Such as, we started messaging each other, then talked on phone then met in person on such date?
2- They want proof of having met in person in the last two years. Now, I have tons of pictures but I read somewhere that they only want pictures within 30 days of filing for the Visa. Is that true? Can I send pictures from the first time we met which is about 2 years ago? Can I send pictures from when I was there for 3 month about 2 months ago?
Also, I have cell phone bills to show that we talked to each other on the phone. The problem is, I use a calling card to call him to avoid the expensive long distance charges. I have highlighted the long distance number. But how will I be able to prove to them that I was calling him? One more thing, before I went to the US to visit him for 3 months, I had a different cell phone number and cancelled it. I still have cell bills from that phone with proof that I called the long distance calling card. Now, should I show statements from my old and new cell phones?
3- My fiance is coming to visit me right before he applies for the visa so, we will use his plane ticket as proof in the I-129F Visa. Now, when I go see him in Dec, will I use that plane ticket as proof when going to my interview?
4- When the interview time comes around, I read that I will need to provide information of my fiance's bank statements and investments. But, my fiance doesn't deal with a bank and doesn't have any investments. How can we show that he can support me if needed? Should he just open a bank account right now and deposit money in it and get a record of the statement? How much is a good amount to show that he could support me? Would it be best to get his parents to be another "sponsor" for me?
Also, as for the Money order to pay for the Visa processing. My fiance usually goes to a Wal Mart to get a money order. Is that suffient? I have a bank account in Canada. Could I wrote a personal check for the filing of the I-129F Visa? Or do they want my fiance's name to be on the check or money order?
5- For the G-325A form, my fiance has moved around a lot within the past few years. But got his mail sent to his parents house to avoid having to change his address all of the time. Should we include all of the places that he lived/ stayed at? Or just include the ones that he was at for a longer period of time?
For the same G-325A form, I was unemployed for 2 months this past Januray. Do they want me to include that in the form?
6- When is the best time to do the medical exam? Would it be a good idea to meet with my Doctor in advance to make sure that I am up to date on everything and to make the medical exam go much faster?
7- I heard that I will be required to do a test of some sort to show that I know things about the US. Is that true?!
On a side note, when I went to visit my fiance back in June, I was rejected because they thought that I was fleeing my country. They put it itno the system so, that a red flag would pop up if I was to ever try to cross the border without proper documents to show that I have ties to my country and plan to reurn. Luckily, I was able to find enough documents and was allowed entrance into the US for a max of 3 months. I came back to Canada within my time frame to avoid any complications when applying for the K-1 Visa. I was just wondering if all of this will affect our application process?
Sorry that I have so many questions. I just want to make sure that I fill all of this out correctly to avoid any complications. Thanks to anyone who has any answers for me!
about the 30 days picture, i guess u re talking about the photograph passport for the application,it says it should be taking 30 days prior the filling of the application, not the pictures for the evidence

Thank you so much for your help.
Sorry for asking so many questions. It's just that as I was going over everything, I made a list of questions and thought it would be easier to ask them all at once rather than forget some.
As for my timeline, I will update that in about a weeks time, when he goes back to the US and mails the package.
Again, thank you very much for your help!
about the money order for the application fee u can buy money order from one tof he banks even here in canada it is accepted by uscis,i bought one from RBC bank here and it was cashed. for i-130

Hey... I have a quick question for a friend. He has applied for his wife which lives abroad for a K-3 visa. He wants to know if she will have to do a medical exam before coming over to the US when they get approved. His lawyer said the exam will be here. I thought that was inaccurate info... but i hope you guys can explai it to me.
Thanks
the embassy in which his wife is applying for the k3 visa will tell her where to go for the medical in the country where she is applying from when she get to that stage, then she will have to come to US with her vaccination worksheet/record so she can transcribe it to form i-693 from a civil surgeon recomend by uscis to submit along with her AOS application when she get to US.

Hello everybody!
Great site! Very helpful!
I have a question about the documents which fiancée is required to bring to the interview at the embassy. I know a copy of the Divorce Certificate for the previous marriage is needed. But what about a Marriage Certificate from the previous marriage??? I ran across this info on one site in a process descriptions section.
Did embassy request a copy of the Marriage Certificate for the previous marriage from anyone? Or is a Divorce Certificate enough?
just only the divorce cert is needed not the previous marriage cert.

My mother-in-law received her permanent residency in Canada. What does she need to travel to the states?
she needs to apply for visiting visa to visit states
-
Imposible to answer, there are too many vaiables at USCIS, like name checks, AR at NVC, name checks at consulate.
Please update your profile to show foreign country, filed for, it helps answer your questions, incompleate profile info and no timeline is not helpful.
US
you.
http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/profile.php?id=26130
First thing you should do is start a timeline, and then use the timelines to help you answer questions just like this one.
elaborate please, u said u get married march 2006 that is all, which stage re u in application processing, where were stuck, uscis, nvc, embassy?
then ur timeline will help in getting a reply to ur question

I was bored. I can't sleep because when I lay down, my tooth hurts so bad I nearly cry. Anyway, I was reading up on the Lottery that it seems USCIS does every year about this time. From my initial read through, my husband would qualify (if he applies as a Chilean) and he has one of those 'in-demand' job classifications.
Should he drop a registration just on the off chance it may be a faster immigration process than the IR-1? Can he have both pending?
IT IS CALL LOTTERY!!!, THERE IS NO ASSURRANCE OF WINNING, THEY WILL JUST PICK UP AT A RANDOM SO IT'S LIKE A LUCKY, SO DONT THINK ABOUT IT U CAN'T ALTERNATIVE IT FOR SPOUSE VISA. EVEN IF HE PLAYS NOW AND HE IS LUCKY TO WIN IT NEXT YEAR IT TAKE ALMOST A YEAR TO GET THROUGH THE PROCESSING. AM A NIGERIAN, AND NIGERIA HAS THE HIGHEST WINNER EVERY YEAR, WITH ALMOST 9,000 OUT OF 55,000 IN THE WHOLE WORLD, WITH THAT ALOT OF PEOPLE HAVE BEEN PLAYING MORE THAN TEN YEARS BUT NUTHING COMES OUT OF IT. just keep ur heads up and be praying, GOD will answer ur prayer, we re all in the same boat, let's keep on praying.he can play it, it does not affect ur application so he can still play it, but keep ur mind torwards ur application.GOD will help.

Dear Visa Journey members,
Got the I-129F approved and the approval letter says about NVC processing with start. I am not sure what the next steps are and would your feedback please. CSC approved the petition after 4 months of wait. Fiancee is from Canada.
Here are my questions:
1) As the next step what I should look for?
2) How long does NVC take to proceed with the next step?
3) Does anyone have an idea about how long it takes from here to get the K1 visa for Canada?
Thanks.
Peter
Received Date: June 22, 2007
Notice Date: October 29, 2007 (Date I-129F got approved)
,
it's like ur timeline says u dont have NOA1 before approval put me right if am wrong, the next step is for uscis to forward your case to NVC then NVC will assign a case number for u and send the petition to canada where ur fiancee reside, but to us embassy that has juridiction over his/her resident if ur fiancee live in eastern canada expect montreal if he/she lives in western canada expect vancouver that is only two embassy that handle k visa in canada.then the embassy will send packet 3 to ur fiancee which will include the checklist and medical appointment stuff, then ur fiancee will return that and later the embassy will send packet 4 which is interview appointment. i will imploy you to visit canada forum for info

Hi guys!
unfortunately, USCIS mailed out a RFE yesterday, which i expect to receive by next week.
I plan to fill up new I-129F and G325A forms (even if they won’t require it) and send it back with the RFE package. My intention is to update my gf's address and employment info. We initially submitted the petition on june and but she changed her address on sept.
My question:
Do you think it’s a good idea to make changes on those forms? Im just nervous that some info (address and employment), which is no longer true, will back fire in the future. However, if i do this, it might lead to confusion and another RFE.
Or should I just leave it alone and wait until the case is forwarded to USEmbassy and call them to give the correct address so appointment letter can be mailed to her. How about our employment info? Should we just let it be or should we do the update?
thanks guys
i wouldn't have done that, filling another form, that might screw up ur application and they might start all over again, let us asume that u dont get any RFE before u get approval, so will u do that, i will advice u to just send them whatever they might ask for, and to make everything go smooth for u,the uscic are bunch of lazy ###, and they re looking for lil mistake to screw someone application.so when the application get to the embassy the beneficiary can make a change about the address, the employment stuff, on the inetrview, date i would have imployed the intending immigrant, to go to the embassy with the previous, employment letter, paystub and current one too that is explicable. so the applicant can explain him/her self bout that. that should not be a problem. employment is mobility.so it is meant to be change at any time, anybody go for good offer of employment.

Ok I have a situation that I need some very serious help with. My husband once lived in China for about 2 years; On his way back to Nigeria one of his bags was left in a cab and his passport was now missing. He immediately applied for another passport but says he was given another passport number. Now that it is time for the case completion I get a letter from the NVC requesting Police Report from China. My husband has no record of what the last passport number was, he only has the new one. Is there any other way he can get a Police report just using his name and birth date, and where can we submit this request to. Somebody....Anybody if there is anything anyone can offer me. Please do so. Most of all I need your prayers, and words of encouragement. Seems when you take 2 steps forward the devil is yet there trying to drag you 5 steps back. But the Lord promised me that he would turn ALL my stumbling blocks into STEPPING STONES. I am trying to be encouraged. I miss my husband and in 1 more month we will be married for 1 year.
hi mrs akindele, first of all since ur husband is starting his uscis application with his new passport he shoudn't have include his stay in china since he cannot pull up the record of his stay, am a nigerian, nigeria does not have record of things, even the passport office in nigeria, and if u dont tell uscis that u live in such country they will never know, but that is gone, we have to look for way foward, the only thing that pop up into me now is for ur husband to go to china embassy in victotia island lagos, to explain himself if possible to go with the reqeust from nvc may be it can help, so the embassy can pull up his record every embassy keep a copy of ur bio data page of ur passport when ever u apply for visa even if they deny the visa they still keep it in their system, the second option is if he can go to the travell agency that got him his flight ticket to china, they can have the information too or the airliner, so i hope this can create a channel. may GOD help u in ur journey.

Hey people, I already received the NOA2 approval. I was wondering if its possible for my fiancee to go to the interview in Manila without her passport. The reason why I am asking is because there is misspelling on her Birth certificate. And she is getting the run around in obtaining her passport. She lives in the Philippines. Is there anything she can do get her passport quicker. Also can she do her medical and interview without a passport? She is in panic mode now. What can we do?? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
i dont know about the procedure how to get a passport from her country, but the only thing i know is that u cannot go to embassy for visa interview without passport it is not possible, cos the visa will be stamp on the passport

Read the guides here on VJ (tab on top of page ) and decide which type of visa you would prefer. There is a lot of information on each step and which forms to fill out.
Then come back and formulate the questions you may still have.
Dakar is a tough embassy to go through and most everyone goes into additional processing ( AP ) which can take months to a year to more
after your initial interview.
USCIS approval takes about 4-6 months. NVC about one month. Waiting for initial interview a couple of weeks. Then the 1. interview, then
AP and then the 2. in depth interview unless you are one of the few to make it through the 1. interview.
The more visits you make and the longer you stay helps in bona fide relationship evidence, but you are only required to meet once within the last 2 years before filing.
You need a cosponsor.
This is a long, tough and expensive journey.
I filed July 2006 and we are still waiting on a 2. appointment after 10 months on AP.
If you think he is your soul mate then go for it.
Another option would be to file DCF ( direct consular filing ) but I don't know if Dakar does it and how long you have to reside in Senegal to qualify.
That may go a little quicker, not sure though.
Best wishes !
omoba i can see that u have a big experience about senegal emabassy, precisely i could say all american embassy in afica re tough they re known for fraud, so it's not gonna be easy the way ur husband says but with GOD evrything is possible u could be the lucky one as omoba says, keep ur heads up and do more reseach before u take any step, then find out about the direct consular filing, if it works then see what u can do about it. best of luck to u .
