  1. It always seems like nothing happens on Mondays, or it is notoriously slow for approvals. Here is wishing, hoping, praying.. whatever it takes, to get both service centers to unleash the NOA2's!

It will be nice to see October rocking again! Good Luck!

According to my timeline I should be seeing some kind of movement around 11th March.

I can't believe how we've resisted the temptation to call.....lol

Although my SO has itchy fingers right now.

The only reason I am calm is because i'm off to Dallas on Sunday for two weeks work training, so one way or another I will get 'bleedin' touched

I'm going to keep spying on Lucian as we're so close. So watch out guys, I'm on your case......lol

Another congrats to any new Octobiler filers i've missed. ''What?'' ''Me? Jealous? NEVER!!''

    RFE Problems

I received a RFE on 02/19/2008 and responded on 02/20/2008. On 02/22/2008 received email notice saying that the document was received. Since then I have 3 touches in a row on the 25th, 26th and 27th. After that nothing no update or anything. I have called twice and no one can tell me anything but that my case is under review. Has anyone had a similar experience.

I have had an almost identical experience, this is drving me nuts, it was the same thing, they received my evidence on the Feb. 26 and had about two or three touches in a row, since the 29th though, nothing :crying: and my timeline here on VSC says I should have an aprroval by Feb. 8  ahhhh I just want this NOA2

Yes this keeping you in the dark is crazy   Have you tried calling.

I tried but I only got the automated service, I'm going to try calling tomorrow and see if I can talk to a human being lol

  3. I wish it were like that for me, I was so excited when I opened my e-mail today I had received an e-mail from the USCIS, here I thought was the approval since so many of them have been popping up, but no, it was a Request for more Evidence :( my heart almost stopped. How long is this going to delay it now?

Sorry to hear about that. :( Anecdotal evidence from the forums seems to indicate that it sets your case back by no more than a week, 2 weeks at the most. That's the most common case anyway. So don't fret, it really doesn't set most people back all that much. The good news is that your case is on someone's desk, so congrats!!

that is a good way to think about it, thanks

  4. Yeah I still call my mother-in-law "Aunt" but when I'm talking about it to people or introducing then I usually say my mother in law, it's just easier. I don't understand the whole many sets of grand parents though lol, our children will still have two sets of grandparents, my parents and her parents. It's nice to see no one criticizing, it really isn't a big deal at all. Not only did Charles Darwin himself marry his cousin but so did one of my two favorite writers of all time, Edgar Allen Poe. (in case we have literature fans here my other favorite is Charles Dickens :D )

  5. a lot of countries allow marriage to distant cousins, haven't heard about first cousins due to the gentic issues when it comes to the children, but as said before, be prepared during AOS and such to show that it is a bona fide romantic relationship. They may be a bit harder wtih you thinking your intention is not what it is so be careful and good luck!

actually risk of a birth defect only goes up 1%. Charles Darwin himself married his cousin.

Marriage of first cousins is only allowed if she's a good cook..

Seriously, though, if it's legal in your state and legal in both countries, it shouldn't be cause for denial, just a tad more scrutiny (as others have stated).

hehehehe Jesse actually she happens to be a good cook as well

and yeah it's legal where I live and in Brazil.

  6. I am marrying my first cousin, who is from Brazil. Please no rude comments, it really isn't a big deal at all to marry your first cousin. In my state it's perfectly legal to marry your first cousin and my lawyer didn't mention anything as far as denial goes so I was just wondering...do any of you think that us being first cousins will be a reason for us to be denied? I really hope not.

    Thank you

No problem. You must both be free to marry in the jurisdiction you plan to marry. Laws of other States are of no consequence in this matter. You might face some additional scrutiny of bona fides.

thank you, that calms me down a bit.

  7. Badly wants Charles and Nessa's popcorn icon for this one

Everyone has access to that icon. It's in the VJ smiley list.

I suggest you both be prepared to explain/show how this is a true relationship and not a family effort to get her a US visa.

What kind of proof can we show, we've done everything my lawyer has suggested, sent photos, I've visited her on a number of occasions, what more can we do?

Does your evidence make it clear that you are more than just cousins? A lot of people make visits to family and take pictures with them. It doesn't mean they are in a romantic relationship.

we have pictures of us kissing but other than that, how can we prove our relationship through pictures?

You can and should have other evidence besides pictures - letters, chat transcripts, phone records, etc.

Yeah I sent all that to my lawyer, I sent some e-mails and some of our conversations through MSN messenger

  10. That's so interesting, I am 19 and my fiance is 17, I wonder how many of us on here are getting married young, that would be an interesting thread.

I would think a lot of people marry young -- to all of you: BEST of luck  . And don't let people put you down with HOW DARE YOU?!?!?! comments ;)

Oh thank you so much, you know you are the first person to tell me that outside of my family. Support is always welcome, thanks again

I got married at 20, my husband was 22. I never would have married at 17 or 18, but we were still young - and we celebrate our 1st anniversary in two weeks.

Congratulations! I wish you both all the best.

  11. Click on 'My Timeline' when you're in your profile, and scroll down to the bottom. There will be Visa Journey's best guess of when your NOA2 will come. You will need to fill in the 'I-129F Sent' field to get it I think...I just checked your timeline and there's no estimate...

Oh thank you very much, you're right the only thing I needed to do was fill in the I-129F sent area. I hadn't filled it in because I couldn't remember but what I did was I put it as two days before the received date on the NOA1, I figured it'd be close enough. Thanks again.

  13. Yep. February and March sound about right. This wait is so nauseating though. I just try to keep myself occupied with college and work; that helps. Does anyone have word if August filers from VSC are getting there NOA2's? I've heard alot of CSC's are... but not much about Vermont. What in the world are all these "new employees" doing? I mean... 5-6 cases a day? how long should it take for over 200 people to look at one couples paperwork? This is ridiculous.

    Frankie "pissed"

How did you get that estimate thing on your timeline? I entered in the information but it didn't give me an estimate.

  14. Hi,

I'm just starting the K1 process for my fiance in China and I have a few questions I would like to ask. First of all, she is only 17 right now, but will be turning 18 in February. The laws here in North Carolina say that you must have the guardian's consent if you are under the age of 18 (she will be 18 by the time she gets her visa). My question is can I file for the K1 right now or do I have to wait until she turns 18? Or do I just need her parent to sign some document allowing her to marry?

I know you can file some form that allows her to be able to work in the US, but what about if she wanted to go to college? Do you think it'll be possible for her to attend a summer session that starts at the end of May if I send the I-129F form out before January? I know the time line will be really hard to predict, but I need to know if I should apply for colleges (if possible) on her behalf.

    Thanks,

    wlchan

Well I guess my case is a little similar to yours. I am now 18, and when my fiance filed the petition for me on 5 June, I was still 17, so he told me to get my mother to sign on a letter stating that she allowed me to get married to my fiance. And he sent it with the I-129F. After 5 months, we got our approval and I am already 18. That's my case. ;)
