  1. I didn't know that, what if you are past 76 days, what do you do? And I want to open a joint bank account with my wife as soon as we're married but to do that she needs a florida ID, to get a Florida ID she needs atleast the I-551 stamp on her passport or on her I-94, but what I don't understand is how can I take proof a joint bank account to the interview if we can't get one because she can't get an ID because she can only get what is required DURING THE INTERVIEW, this is all so confusing.

  2. I definately understand now, I've been thinking about this for a few days now and I think I've discovered whatr's bothering me, it's not exactly that she's not excited it's that she's taking out all of her frustration and negative feelings out on me which is tiring but I'll just take it but I think that's what hurts the most, I try to be supportive and comfort her but I keep getting negativity in return. All of your stories have definately helped me, thank you very much.

  3. To Jeraly: lol that's funny but honestly I wish my fiance was like that, talking about it more, showing a bit of excitement but I understand that everyone is different. The main vibe I've gotten from everyone here is that once they arrive everything gets better, that's what I'm hoping for. Good luck to you :)

To Michael and Mila: Thank you I'm definately beginning to get a grasp on this. Oh, sorry but the link didn't work but I'll check it out on your profile.

  4. I'm not sure if I posted this in the right place but I really need some advice. As you can see by my timeline we were finally approved and on the 17th we'll be flying back to my home in Miami. My fiance is really upset about leaving her family, especially her mother, they are VERY close. I know this is normal but...and I don't want to seem like I'm asking too much but it1s just that I would love to see some enthusiasm on her part as well, some excitement, some happiness, but I get nothing. I was wondering what all of your experiences were like, what was it like? How did you and your fiance react to your fiance leaving their family behind? I'd really appreciate some advice, is a little happiness really too much to ask, I don't want to seem like a jerk.

    Thank you.

  5. I was just looking at the requirements for Immigrants to get an ID in my state and here they are:

Each immigrant who applies for an original driver license or identification card must submit:

Alien Registration receipt card, (Green card, Form I-551); or

I-551 stamp in passport or on I-94; or

Immigration Judges Order, with the customer's A-number, granting asylum; or

I-797, with the customer's A-number, stating the customer has been granted asylum; or

    I-797 or another form from the Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services, with the customer's A-number, stating the customer's application for Refugee status is approved;

Will she get any of these when she enters the country? I know the green card is another proccess that will take some time but I would really like for her to get an ID as soon as possible so will she get any of the other things mentioned on these requirements?

  6. We are planning to get married in September, finally this whole nightmare is almost over. I was just wondering, I know that traveling outside the country is probably out of the question at such an early stage but what about inside the country. I am planning a honeymoon for us in another city and we need to take a plane, I realize that to travel inside the country all you need is some sort of identification but what form of american identification could she use? Is it possible for us to travel by plane inside the country?

  7. I just noticed that a lot of you in your timelines say that you sent the Packet 3 back? The packet that my fiance and I receved in the mail says to take the papers with us to the interview, it says nothing about sending it back. Is this unusual?

JKD_88, try this....helpful tips on Embassy info: http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/inde...0De%20Janereiro

Thank you LuciansGirl but now I seemed to be even more confused lol, based on the descriptions of the Packet 3 and the Packet 4 it seems that my fiance and I both received the Packet 4 but no Packet 3  Could it be that this went directly to my lawyer and we never saw it?

  8. How much have others paid for the medical exam and how long does it take.

My lady flew to Brazilia yesterday for the medical exam.

Before she left she told the exam would be less than R$600 she called this morning and they want over R$900 and it will take 2 days.

    What have other esperiences been?

Brasi eh foda cara, to tendo o mesmo problema com a minha noiva, caro pra caramba!!!!!

There can be slight differences between Embassies ....Try to find someone from same country as beneficiary and they should be able to tell you (F)

Ok I'll try thank you

  10. You fill in one Affidavit of Support with the data from your last tax returns; and your dad (God bless him for helping you folks out) fills another one.

which spaces you think do not apply to you?

Yes he is being great about this.

The spaces I'm referring to are stuff like this

"I am employed as or engaged in the business of__________"

"The following persons are dependent on me for support___________"

"I intened/do not intend tomake specific contributions for the support of the person(s) named in item 3."

Do I just leave these spaces blank?

  11. My lawyer informed me that I have to fill out an affidavit of support even though I am a full time student and my father will be the one providing financial support for us until I have a large enough income to support us. I was informed that my father is considered my co-sponsor. I just have some questions, I don't know how to fill this affidavit of support out because many of these questions don't apply to me yet I am told that I must. Do I just leave blank the spaces that don't apply to me? That would mean leaving most of the form blank. I'm a bit confused any help would be greatly appreciates as this site is always full of kind people who know a lot more about this than me lol.

  12. My fiance just told me that out of the list of the vaccinations, the only ones she needs are HPV, Hep. B, and Meningitis. I can't believe the price for this stuff in Brazil, she told me that the HPV is 3 vaccinations each R$500 which is about USD$250 and the others are R$120 which is about USD$60. I had no idea they were this expensive. Does she need to get all 3 shots of the HPV while in Brazil or can she get just one there and the rest here where it's cheaper? Oh wow I'm shocked here  I had no idea. And I know that she needs more medical stuff during the Adjustment of Status right? What will that be?

  13. I am so happy that this process is finally almost overwith but I have a few questions that I hope the kind people here at VJ can help answer. My Brazilian fiance received a packet of forms and instructions, the consulate also sent one to me here in the states. I believe they are the same packet. But with all this official/legal jargon I get really confused and was wondering if anyone could help me with this.

A few examples of my confusion:

    1. Form FS-257a (One for you and one for each of your dependants)- Who is "you" and who are the dependants?

    2. Form DS-156K (One, only for the fiance)- I believe this means only for my fiance and not any dependants if she had any, am I correct?

    3. Form DS-157 (One for each applicant between 16 and 45 years old)- Who is the applicant?

I realize these seem like simple questions but I just want to be sure. Basically, as fas as I have understood, all the forms except the Affidavit of Support are for her to fill out correct?

Now some questions regarding the neccessary documents:

    1. Birth Certificate- Do we need to bring the original and a common copy of her birth certificate?

    2. Police Certificate- She is 17 years old and it says in the packet that the Brazilian government only gives police certificates to people 18 and older, she is emancipated however. Does she still require a police certificate? If so do you think the Brazilian Police will give one to her if she shows that she is emancipated?

    3. We need to bring her passport and a copy of the page that contains the biographic information inside her passport correct?

    4. How strict are they with all the photo requirements? I mean does everything have to be exactly perfect in the photo, it seems very difficult and unneccesary to me.

Now a more personal question which I hope I will receive good answers to, I am in College and am not working at this time, my father will be filling out the affidavit of support. I will support us after I finish my studies but am just not able to do this now, do you think this will be a problem in the interview? I really hope not.

Thank you for help. :) and I am rooting for all of you to get this over with as soon as possible and be with your loved ones

  14. I did not get anything from the consulate. However, there are things you need to fill out --- basically, the I-134 affidavit of support, and if your consulate requries this (which it probably doesn't) the OF-167. It could be that your consulate is actually clued in enough to send those things to you instead of sending them to your fiancee to send to you. But I don't know, that's just a guess.

they sent it to both of us, a packet for her and a packet for me whish is why I was wondering we both need to fill out the forms or just her, I know about the affidavit of support though

  15. I can't believe it!!!! My fiance got the Packet 3 today, we finally got an interview date!!!!!!!!!!!!

AWESOME!!!:dance::dance: I hope the time until May 30th goes fast for you!

Thank you!!! I hope so too

I was just wondering, my lawyer informed me that I also received a packet which he will send to me, is it the same packet as my fiance's do I have to fill it out as well?
