  1. Agree that all of these process steps ( and even the more to come) has been absurd. we were 631 days in k-1 process as well with a huge (information black hole) gap added between 129F approval and NVC receive. We consider ourselves very lucky to be an early GC and encourage you to read this entire board ... even us, like many other early recipients needed to "fix" our submission.
  2. Ok. ... this was fun GC in hand since 26 Dec 2024. Today, got this notification that EAD/AP was terminated. One deeper look, denied 4 days after GC was approved ... all of that makes sense (sort of) as EAD/AP apply if GC is in process. Stange that they seemed to back date the "denial" AND now the "explanation letter" is already 3 weeks behind. Just an FYI to expect strange things (even beyond the circle-k)
  3. Actually, I kept my estimate low on purpose not to scare others here .... Comment was more about just how fast and easy it is to "misplace" photo or other key story telling features. Like when my wife met the Sr. VP of my company and had a shared photo a couple days after wedding .... Took a bit of time just to find that ... ooph
  4. I had been collecting (even organized) most of these things in folders by month. Decided to start a google-docs file with the items and photos organized. Ooph, already hard digging up photos that I thought were going to be easy. Looks like my future final file will be 125-175 pages or so
  5. I would agree with OldUser .... If you MUST travel, then go ... otherwise wait for GC just to be sure after all, AP and EAD are only required as a temporary measure while GC is processing. Since it is processed, there would be some extra "faith" in the USCIS documents if you go now.
  6. https://citizenpath.com/proving-a-bona-fide-marriage/ Some light reading and ideas for I-751 proof of marriage docs to collect.
  7. Our Green-Card timeline The EAD and AP was left open for quite some time and eventually changed to case closed in MyUSCIS ... Still shows as in process through normal search even today GC approved 15 Dec Found on USPS via Informed Delivery on 20 Dec) Card produced 21 Dec (online status) Scheduled delivery 23 Dec but USPS Slipped up and didn't get it in time Actual delivery 26 Dec (USPS) Check informed delivery and if you have card was produced message, you should see a tracking number thorugh informed delivery (USPS) or wait for a couple days to see if they make the update to card was picked up (which is hit or miss on USCIS website)
  8. agreed, the whole process is crazy ..... Here is another one for the group to consider: Recommend getting a fixed credit card (aka secured credit card) for your spouse co credit history can be built. After fighting with the credit reporting agencies to get accounts established, we STILL don't have a credit score from TransUnion which is limiting our ability to perform some simple tasks. In particular, an account at creditKarma, My Social Security (which login.gov apparently uses credit agencies, etc.) She did get a score with Experian and even boosted with the utility accounts I put her on before she moved here .... so some parts are working and some are waiting for months to establish presence and use of a credit card. Back to that credit card, a $200 limit (with deposit) through BoA is what we did .... charge it 30% and wait for the invoice and repeat. Even BoA says TransUnion score is not available (offered free for BoA card holders)
  9. Thanks. I was hoping with card in hand they would remove the notation. Can say that with our GC, we were able to get the married name corrected on the SSN and the notation removed. That said, we are still having plenty of challenges getting the SSN recognized especially with Equifax and in some cases TransUnion. The fun will continue once you get things moving (just in case you thought it was just be completed once you get the GC). BTW, don't forget to start saving for I-751 ... Proof of marriage documentation. The 18 months after GC will come around faster than you think so best to start preparing today.
  10. Online portal? Where/what? We are making a folder to submit with the future filing ... Was your thoughts for AOS or Removal of Conditions?
  11. Glad you finally got it .... Ours was scheduled for delivery 23 Dec but USPS delayed the package so we didn't get it till 26 Dec ... Then .... a quick race down to Social Security to "fix" the married name on the SSN Card .... Still working on getting that to work through the credit reporting agencies (2 of 3 now at lease allow a login with her SSN, CreditKarma doesn't yet) Also working on registering the wedding with her home country (still a long process) AND working on Drivers License .... So much to do still ... just happy that only one tiny part of it has to do with Federal Government at this point (SSN) even if parts of it are state government (DL)
  12. Card creation and out to USPS seems to be rather quick .... That said, suggest you sign up for Informed Delivery at USPS ... the "package is scheduled" showed up there much faster than on USCIS site
  13. We sent a new I-485, signed and dated ..... a cover letter explaining the changes .... and noting the changes in the additional info section at the end (as another change). May be partly responsible for our quickened GC approval ....
  14. If you read back in this thread, In general the myProgress has been worthless in estimating anything .... Similarly, there is no transparency with transfers between NBC and local Offices .... I wish I had better news or a way to improve visability .... but best of luck on your case.
  15. Emma re-emerges .... The phone answering assistant at Experian is seeming to be using the same underlying "keep them away" technology as Emma. Went through the phone system and ran into "I can only transfer people under certain circumstances ... if you want to use the automated system, press 1. To end this call press 2." Ugh ... thought I was done with that kind of silly at least for a while. (unfortunately, something is off with my ladies SSN and can't do a number of basic things like signing up a credit Karma account or even one with any of the agencies)
  16. We got our green card as did at least 2 others on October AOS group. A number of us Dec k1 2021 in there and most are waiting. HOPING YOURS COMES SOON TOO
  17. Assure her that you don't have to move back .... it will happen .... in time .... just sucks that there is no clear indication as to when
  18. Suggestion to any in the process of getting the K-1 Visa ..... Based on our Brazil case .... 1) Ensure you get a fresh police report just before traveling to the USA .... you may need a newer one for the AOS filing 2) Ensure you get a fresh certified copy of the birth certificate - And triple check it for typos. That second one is giving us plenty of headaches now as we can't register our wedding with the consulate until the document is corrected for the typo and for Brazil it has to be within the last 6 months or they won't accept it outright. We can't get passport updated until we get the wedding registered (which requires the corrected Birth Cert) And that is limiting our ability apply for Global Entry (based on wrong name in passport) as well as updating her accounts like United...... The fun continues once they are here .... but at least they are here (so worth celebrating once it happens for you guys)
  19. Don't use myProgress for any "Hope" or it is "False Hope" ... sorry to say. We received the physical GC on 12/26/2023 and the status online says that it has been picked up by the post office ... not even delivered. Our EAD and AP shows in progress (in text when searching for case number) and case closed on USCIS account. Unfortunately, the "Status" is very poor .... Seems that the best way to know that things are done (or needing more work) is to review the "Documents" tab under each case number. We got the "Approval letter" for GC well before the others this way. Not that you can do much about anything with USCIS process. On a side note, currently fighting with Credit Reporting Agencies to get her identified. Seems that something isn't quite right with the records there and they are (often) asking for a Drivers License. It blows my mind that a GC isn't accepted as a form of ID.
  20. @ThailandR, hope you didn't send too much that results in them being "annoyed" ... not sure it happens but seems like you are trying to cover the bases well
  21. It arrived (finally) ... and the SSN card adjustment is complete today. Up next is DMV .... Will be happy to share any experiences we have in converting over docs but so far things are going about as expected. That is, with the exception of the Brazilian Consulate ... that is another matter entirely. Will be here (like I was with I-129F group) to help where I can ... and looking forward to seeing most of you again in ~21 Months when we are filing our I-751s Remember to collect things that prove the "marriage" is real to support that filing ... (yes, was stupid we had to prove we were engaged, then again at the interview, then again for the AOS but it is what it is).
  22. Keep the positive thoughts ..... That is all we can do. Well, that, and prepare to yell at USPS which seemed to have lost her GC on the way here tomorrow (if they don't have an actual update of status then) ... lol
  23. Sure hope that USPS wasn't infected with the USCIS bug. Package (with GC) picked up on the 21st. Expected delivery on the 23rd. Took a while to get to regional center (longer than would have been normal). Spent all day with it saying it would be delivered today .... Then, a recent change to delivery date unknown. Guess should not have paid for the FMM counting on it being here since USPS said it would be. For rest of you, hope you also don't make $250+ mistakes on the USPS service (ooph)
  24. To me, a check is better ... also easier to print out for record keeping
  25. @grumpypiggy and @serret ... was getting depressed that card wasn't getting made and just tonight it switched to produced (today) ... so we will see if trend continues ... based on yours, I will be hoping for Saturday or Tuesday.
