  1. @OldUser, less than a month till we submit our I751 with 100 pages of photos, relevent proofs, and ~100 more of attachments (statements and such). The question I might have for you is, based on all the forums you have been following, the N400 proof document ... should it be 751 proof + next year's (i.e. a continuation) or a new document spaning 751 submission until N400 submission ... Thoughts? Seems online that it is everything but since can be uploaded electronically, trying to plan how to structure the documentation so can continue to capture in preparation for N400 next year
  2. Was reading up on all of this .... Our next trip is before we file the I-751. We were considering another trip after where the I-751 would be in process... So I get in the second case, we need to perfectly preserve the NOA1 from the I-751 showing the extension (a bit silly that the paper needs to be maintained as an origional in perfect condition, but it is what it is) ... Seems that that technically is enough but hoping that if there was more to secure, that we could get that in place before the trip(s).
  3. @OldUser ... Think I have seen you on here quite a bit .... have a weird (but somehow I bet quite common) ROC condition question for you. Maybe you have links from other threads to point us to for details. Will be filing ROC (I-751) in September, and as I understand it, the process will put us into a bit of limbo in particular with international travels. While the NOA-1 and expired CG "should" be enough, in the current climate it would seem that additional steps would make sense. That said, applying for AP (I-131) shows it could take 12-Months just to get a decision and unclear since the status applied under would be a Conditional Permanent Resident so might only be valid until end of Conditional Term. Has this come up before? methods people have used? or challenges they faced?
  4. Have always loved just how precise USCIS is in their communications .... lol
  5. Just checking in with everyone again .... The window to file will open very shortly. Hopefully @MMRF can keep us up to date with their progress as an early submitter. Lets all hope this goes reasonably smoothly for all (and future) group members
  6. We get this time ... AND yet again for citizenship ... so hold fast. Like the drive idea but did mine making a Google docs file so can keep adding to a printable doc with descriptions, dates, etc. Making backups of the docs file too ... as one time it did get corrupted (somehow)
  7. Seeing that these forums are less attended than AOS and K1, I thought to start this one a bit earlier than normal. Hopefully you all have been working on your proof of marriage documentation. I-751 Document Checklist (taken from other groups): - Front/back copy of permanent resident card. - Copy of the driver’s license and/or identity card for each party of the qualifying marriage. - Legible copy of your marriage certificate establishing a marriage to the U.S. citizen spouse. (The certificate must indicate that after the marriage ceremony, it was registered or recorded by the county, state, or province.) - Documents that prove your bona fide marriage and co-habitation covering the period of time from the date of marriage to the present (such as: o Copies of bank statements showing joint savings accounts and/or checking accounts - one for each quarter (four per year) since the date of marriage.) - Two declarations by close friends or family members with knowledge of your bona fide marriage. - Copy of joint water bill, cable bill, energy bill, phone bill, or other statements issued in both your names indicating your residential address. - Copy of joint car insurance. - Copy of joint home insurance. - Copy of joint mortgage or lease. - Birth certificates of children of the marriage. - Insurance policies (showing spouse as beneficiary). - Charge accounts in both names (copies of billing statements). - Letter from the employers, showing who is to be contacted in case of an emergency; how many dependents are claimed for taxes; etc. - Copy of joint Federal income tax return. - If your spouse’s name has changed, any identification showing the married name such as driver's license, etc. - Letters and cards written between the parties, or other correspondence to the couple. - If applicable, submit copies of military Basic Allowance for Quarters (BAQ) form for housing and/or DD Form 1172 for dependent military cards. - Copies of wedding and travel photographs, travel documents and/or other evidence that you feel should be considered. (The photos should be annotated to show the date and place where taken and identifying any other individuals in the photos) Looking forward to seeing @grumpypiggy again in this forum. Getting it started a bit early to be sure the ROC group exists
  8. After holding the GC for 2 years (actually 21 months), we get the pleasure of filing forms again with USCIS, this time to remove conditions of residence (form i-751). Along with that is yet another "proof" document that the relationship is real and ongoing.
  9. Mine arrived 09/07/23. Married 09/10/23 filed AOS October 2023 (and created VJ group). We were lucky that GC came early in Dec 2023. STRONGLY recommend starting on your I-751 proof of relationship document (https://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/810436-october-2023-aos-filers/page/32/#comments) or happy to talk 1 on 1 with you. Ours is already up to 50 pages. Getting started, the first 10 were really hard even after just a few months to (even find the photos we already had to) organize it.
  10. Don't forget to build your proof of marriage doc and be careful that you don't file before 90 days before expiration (that is NOT 3 months in most cases)
  11. Well, seems all active members have gotten through the AOS process ... I do hope that Visa Journey maintains this to help others through this process. See you all at the I751 and N400 steps.
  12. Remember, get that document started ASAP ... you'll be amazed just how hard it is already to dig up photos in just this short time
  13. I made a post a while back about I-751 removal of conditions. Even started a word doc and let me tell you that it was already hard to find correct photos for our story. Our doc is already up to ~35 pages and I check in on it every 2 weeks or so to see what I need to add (or remember to take photos to add). Orginized with a table of contents in front and then page after page of proof points. Here is our current table of contents for reference. Will is started and in process ... Not sure if I will kep gift receipts But the general list came from that link I submitted to this group chat. 14. So sad they are putting you through all of this
  15. (Welcome Message stolen from September 2023 group) Hello October 2023 AOS filers another month another round of AOS submissions, Please be aware that this checklist is NOT all-inclusive and you must consult the USCIS website to crosscheck this checklist against/with. The AOS process has been confusing since the pandemic hit, not to mention the added politics. So please I want to stress that you only use this check sheet as a starting point and guide if you will. The USCIS site will be the final guide. Please ensure that you check your forms for the correct versions and editions because if you use the wrong forms USCIS will reject your application and send it back to you. This is easily checked on the USCIS website prior to downloading your forms. You should also ONLY download your forms from the USCIS website. The current and correct fees can also be ascertained from the USCIS website. Just a side note before we get started USCIS may decouple Forms I-765 and Form I-131 if filed jointly with Form I-485. Here is the quoted text taken directly from the USCIS website. "To improve efficiency and reduce Form I-765 processing times for Form I-485 applicants, USCIS may decouple Form I-765 from Form I-131 filed at the same time. Effective Feb. 1, 2022, when possible, we will adjudicate an applicant's Form I-765 first. If we approve it, we will issue an Employment Authorization Document without any notation about advanced parole. We will adjudicate Form I-131 separately and if we approve it, we will issue an advance parole document". I know this is old news, but I thought it would be good to include it here for your knowledge. What this means is some people elect to include three (3) copies of their marriage license/certificates one attached to each form (I-485, I-765 and I-131 respectively). I do not know of anyone receiving an RFE for a marriage license/certificate missing on the I-765 or the I-131 since USCIS has started doing this new way of adjudicating the AOS (the marriage license/certificate with form I-485 is required though). This is an age-old concern that has been in play before this new way USCIS started adjudicating these forms. Some filers including me when I filed the AOS back in 2019 sent in three (3) copies of their marriage licenses/certificates. I did it then because of peace of mind and there were some RFEs given out for missing licenses/certificates (back then). USCIS also used to issue Combo Cards, Employment Authorization Document, and Advance Parole (EAD and AP combined in the same card). I've seen now where they have issued an EAD without the AP. Whether you include three (3) copies of your marriage license/certificate is going to be your individual call when you file your AOS. Having said that let's get into the checklist: AOS Checklist Cover Letter listing Table of Contents Check Payable to U.S. Department of Homeland Security - $1,225.00 (this includes the Bio-metrics fee, also be aware that fees are supposed to increase in the near future so please double-check before you send your packet off!) Form I-485 (completed and signed by non-US Citizen/beneficiary) Form G-1145 Copy of beneficiary's Passport with biographical page Copy of beneficiary's K1 Visa from Passport and entry stamp Copy of NOA2 Approval letter (from K1 process) I-94 Copy of beneficiary's Birth Certificate translation of birth certificate (if needed) Certified copy of Marriage License or Certificate Passport Photos (2) name written on the back Copy of DS-3025 Form I-864 (completed and signed by USC) (goes with form I-485) Proof of USC's citizenship (copy of birth certificate, copy of passport bio page, or other) Current tax year 2022 and (optional 2021, 2020) Tax Return (with W-2) or Transcripts (transcripts are better if you can get them) Employment Verification Letter (updated one - not the one used during the K1 process) Pay stubs (last 3 months) Form I-765 (completed and signed by non-US Citizen/beneficiary) Copy of beneficiary's Passport with biographical page Copy of beneficiary's K1 Visa from Passport and entry stamp I-94 Passport Photos (2) name written on the back Copy of NOA2 (from K1 process) Be sure to use the correct filing code of (c)(9) if this code applies to you. The I-765 instructions explain all the codes in detail. If you are filing under a different code (other than (c)(9) the fee for your AOS will not be correct and USCIS will reject your entire packet. Form I-131 (completed and signed by non-US Citizen/beneficiary) Copy of beneficiary's Passport with biographical page Copy of beneficiary's K1 Visa from Passport and entry stamp I-94 Passport Photos (2) name written on the back Copy of NOA2 (from K1 process Be sure to double-check for the current fees as fees do sometimes increase and they can change on a dime so please check. Additionally, check the forms as listed above i.e., current version and or edition date, there have been many changes to various forms. Consider sending tax transcripts instead of the 1040, and W2s. Also, consider preparing a cover letter for each form in addition to the main cover letter. Make sure you send long-form birth certificates and not the short form. Hope this helps in your preparation of your AOS. When in doubt ask questions. Please consider filing the I-131 and the I-765 even if you don't think you'll need them right now. You never know what changes your life will have down the road, so I recommend you file these two forms from the start. There is no extra charge to file them with your AOS and it's better to submit them all at once. There has been much confusion coming out of USCIS, partly due to Covid-19 and partly self-inflicted. This confusion filters on down to the people filing for AOS. The above listing is subject to change at a moment’s notice so please check, recheck, and check again BEFORE you send off your packet for any last-minute changes. Congratulations on the successful submission of your AOS packet!
