Hi, I know this post is old but how long did it take for your vawa to be approved and dos u get your green card successfully via the filed i485?
Timeline is in my signature. Good luck on your journey.

That's weird for you unless things changed over the years. My understanding was for minor children like yours, the parent would go pick up the certificate and that the minor child would not have to take the oath. How old was your son when you applied for the N600? I have applied for my son's N600 3 months ago (age 9) and I just got a notice that he is in line for the oath ceremony, no date scheduled yet? I thought that a child did not have to attend an oath ceremony if they are under 14. Just wondering what your experience was with this... did your son have to do the interview and oath or just oath?
My son was over 14 and under 18 so he had to say the oath but his certificate of citizenship had the same date I took the oath.
Make an info pass to inquire or just wait. Maybe they'll send you the notice to go pick it up

Passport day is usually in February I think. The year I naturalized it was postponed until September because they had thought that the would be a government shut down. Passport day is when you don't need an appointment to go to the passport agency to apply. It made my life much simpler

Yes SSA in Brooklyn. The certificate was copied by the worker and updated a couple weeks later. After which I received snail mail confirmation that my status was updated to citizen.

Tuesday, September 23 - Oath Ceremony. Yippee!
-
After all this time, and outside of normal processing times, and after I sent two e-requests, they have scheduled the oath ceremony for my son. Haven't gotten the notice in the mail yet.

Print the tax transcripts from the link that was provided earlier and you will be fine. That's what immigration prefers that you have. And, they may not even ask for them but best to have them just in case.

Hello,
I am planing to email my AOS package. PDF is the format requested by NVC for electronic processing.
I am wondering if the transcripts can be downloaded in PDF format from the IRS , instead printing and have to scan the transcript print out into a PDF.
Please let me know
Thanks
You can print it to PDF format. You have a few options even if you don't have Adobe Acrobat Professional. Here is an article I found with some good info: http://www.howtogeek.com/150891/how-to-print-to-pdf-in-windows-4-tips-and-tricks/
There are free options which you can install like CutePDF (just don't install the crapware that it is bundled with) Writer: http://www.cutepdf.com/products/cutepdf/writer.asp
If you have Microsoft Office, you don't have to install anything else - you can already save as, or export documents as PDF.
Google Chrome is another option. You can print to PDF.
So, no need to print the transcripts and then scan them as PDF - just use one of these options. Good luck,

Yes, it's a new thing. Just hope that it's secure because I shudder to think what a hacker could do with all of that information! I saw this on a blog so I had to come here and post it.
The moderators should put this link on every forum as a sticky.

No more waiting 10 business days after you request it....

When I went to the Passport Agency, it happened to be Passport Day, so I didn't need an appointment. Passport agencies usually operate by appointment only and if you have travel plans within a couple of weeks.
Hopefully you won't have any issues at the courthouse.

Submitted at the passport agency in Manhattan. I am guessing that they kept the applications together since there was only one CON.
In fact, when the passports cards ands passports were delivered, the numbers on them were sequential.
-
You can apply for all the passports at the same time. When I naturalized, I submitted the application for myself and my son at the same time with no problems.
-
You found the other post already but here is a link to it as well: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/395574-naturalization-after-vawa/?p=5778892
As for your question about your (ex) husband's address, just put UNKNOWN. It asks about current spouse...does this mean that you are still married? You got your greencard through VAWA so don't worry about not being able to fill out specifics about him if you don't have the relevant information.
-
Hi! I am applying my US Citizenship now but I am confused about Part 8 should I file that also. Basically it asked about your spouse name and address but I don't know where he lives now. Please help me. Your information is appreciated.
I would think that you should be able to put UNKNOWN for the address. I was already divorced so I just put N/A for everything concerning him (are you divorced already?). Part 8F was where I put his name, etc., and that section never asked for his address. If you are filing under VAWA, I think it is understandable if you don't know his current address. Don't worry about it.

I got one in the mail on the Monday of the same week my oath ceremony was scheduled. Dropped the response in the mail immediately with a copy of my greencard.
A couple months later, I got another summons in the mail...I kept that appointment since I was now a citizen.

Oh, we will definitely link up again. I enjoyed our chat and walkabout...
N400-2011, it was great meeting you too. Regarding your question where was everyone, good question, people didn't bother to call me to say why they could not make it .
I have a crazy/busy schedule and to attend all people asking to meet me up then I scheduled one day to meet all girls. I can't go every Saturday to NYC to meet each one,I live in Nj. Anajnic and Faithkeeper were the only girls that told me in advance they could not make it and I understood them, but it seems some people just do not have respect for others people time, but it was great going to the City because I was able to meet you.I hope to see you soon.

i became ill, still sick, was looking forward to
Feel better!

Sandra, it was great meeting you today. Where was everyone?
-
Congratulations! That's a really detailed account :-)

Honestly, I have no idea. Good luck in court on Thursday -- of course, report back here with the outcome.

Back in 2006, I received public assistance in NYC but I had a work permit because my adjustment of status application was pending at the time that I filed VAWA. You should try contacting a few of the DV agencies like Sanctuary for Families or Safe Horizon. Sanctuary gave me a grant to pay off my back rent once I had secured a job. You could also contact South Brooklyn Legal Services and ask their opinion on your specific case for public assistance.

There is no biometric fee or any other fee associated with a child on the N400 application for citizenship. The total fee for filing is currently $680.
The child automatically becomes a citizen if they are under the age of 18, legal resident, in your legal and physical custody....once you take the oath.
-
The N-400 is for your wife only - her daughter will be listed on the application as a child. Your step daughter can attend the oath ceremony for your wife but will not be an active participant - she does not take the oath, nor does she surrender her green card - she will be a citizen once your wife takes the oath.
If you want a Certificate of Citizenship for your step daughter (the other official documentation) then the N-600, Application for Certificate of Citizenship would need to be applied for. Before the age of 18, her mom would file it for her, once she is 18 or older, your step daughter can file it for herself - it's a simpler process if you file for it before she is 18.
VAWA AND I-485
in Effects of Major Family Changes on Immigration Benefits

Oops...didn't remember that I took the VAWA stuff out of my signature.
The I-360 took 14 months to be approved. I did not have to refile the I-485. I had my green card interview 6 months after that.
