  1. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA :wacko::wacko::wacko::wacko::wacko::wacko::wacko::bonk::bonk::bonk::bonk::bonk::bonk:

The wedding is in less than 3 weeks and I have received RSVP's from 150 people, But only 10 Nigerians....... How do you accomodate 125 addtional people who you expect to come but have not confirmed ......I have people still asking for invites,,,,,,,mind you every invite has a self addressed stamped envelope...so why are people calling me saying I'm coming....send in the damn envelope it is free to do so.

Well back to the people count I have to pay for every person and then I have to guess at the additional Nigerian Buffet. Guess? Should I accomodate 40 of 140.....or more? Why can't people just send the damn card in?

    At $50 a head........I'm stressing over here..... :bonk::help::help: .

I just had to get it out of my system......

That's what happens girl....people are lazy when it comes to mailing even if its free.

  2. Hey LL I am sooo glad you brought this topic up... This is going to be one of the games played at my Bridal Shower..

The gele wrap contest...the best one wins.......i will give them 5 minutes and a mirrror.... Nigerian women are banned from this game....I will have another one for them like the toilet paper gown.

    Thanks a Bunch

Hey mama...let me know if you need some bridal shower games. I compiled a list of them :star:

  3. Since there were some inquiries about Zee and how she is doing, I sent her a text and let her know she is well missed by her VJ fam.

    Here is Zee's response:

"Hey! We are getting ready to come home on Thursday. I have soooooo many pics to share I cannot wait! I miss my VJ peeps."

I for one am so excited for their return

Lets pray for their safe return on Thursday :)

  4. Congrats! Make sure you read your insurance booklet or call them. Most health insurance plans only allow you to add a spouse within a certain time period (60-90days of the wedding). Life insurance should be no problem if you want to add him as a beneficiary or take a policy out for him.

 solid advice...i forgot about that!

  5. Hey guys.

Thanks for the luv! I hadn't monitored my sugars in so long my fingers have actually gotten sensitive to the pricking. It makes typing a little unnerving. Woweee! I'll be on the ball from now on. Bassi is a flaming mess! Lord, in an emergency, I'm gonna need a back up plan. He was reduced to tears and wanted to take me directly to the hospital on Saturday. I had to calm his butt down, then take care of myself. I'll prepare him once I'm feeling better on how to deal with my diabetes. If he has instructions I'm sure he'll do better. Poor guy! I rarely get sick anymore though. I won't bother thinking about pregnancy cause that will surely complicate my management plan. I have stress induced diabetes. Isn't that funny? Stress will kill ya! Anyway, my flare ups are ALWAYS related to the level of stress in my life at a given time. I'm coming off of the wedding reception (there was some family drama about who was invited and yada yada yada), a problem with an employee at work, possible layoffs in the State (I'm a state HR administrator and the governor just shut everything down cause we're poor up here in NY), and to top it all off, my mama and my girlfriend and her two kids were visiting me!! (Did I mention my daughter invited my ex husband to the wedding reception and he accepted?) Needless to say, my stress levels are coming down and my sugar levels are coming down. It'll just take a little while. I'm still projecting by Friday, I'll be feeling better.

Heather, I'm so glad to hear you're doing okay. Natural disasters are stressful, but I especially hate being trapped at WORK!!! During 9/11 I worked in NYC and was trapped at work because the Guard closed down the city for hours and wouldn't let anyone move. I was soooo stressed out because I wanted to be HOME!! There's nothing like being in your own house. Something safe about it. (Hugs sweetie) Take a hot shower and get some rest!

:wacko: I can see how this would add to your stress...very uncomfortable situation

And then the fam drama with who was invited and not? Oh gosh. Tooooooo much stress makes me :crying:

    You are strong girl!

  6. Thanks for the congratulatory wishes. It was a good day and we had fun. Remember on July 4th I mentioned that we had a lot of Ghanaians at our home. Well it turns out that one of Samuel's friends wife is familiar with VisaJourney and they were there as our witnesses. It was a blessing to have them be there for us.

    Small World!!!

    Happy 4u Erica

  8. They have now closed the roads...but we are still here. There was a bad flare up for hte last 20 minutes it was pretty crazy it is VERY close to some houses, actualy completely surrounded a huge multi million dollar home and did not burn it!! I cant believe it I dont know how that house is still standing.

    (L) P

P, I just got home and was reading your updates on the fire....you should really consider being a news reporter! You had me hanging on to every word!

Hope things have died down now. Be safe, mama!

  9. I ya'll. I'm still around. Mostly lurking about. I'm still a bit out of sorts. My blood sugar is slowly coming down. 142 this morning so I'm starting to feel much better. Hopefully by the end of the week I'll be 100%.

Zee's on her honeymoon now. Why would she be thinking about us?

he he She'll be home next week with her man in tow. She better update us right away!!

    Hey Zainab,

It's been a long time. I'm glad that you are getting better. With all the excitement that was going on with your hubby being here, I can understand how you forgot to monitor your blood sugar level.

I'm sure Bassi is helping you get better ;)

    Take Care :star:

  10. Can we please just give the OP insight on the K1 process. I think the more pressing issue is the length of time the OP is spending in Nigeria versus the length of her relationship with her SO.

Lets give her advice as she would need to have a successful visa approval and leave out info that has been repeated over and over and over and over again, which the OP herself has asked NOT to get into...regardless of her giving up too much of her personal business.

    So with that being said...

    lmnop,

If you are unable to stay in Nigeria for a longer period of time, consider making a second trip and if that is not feasible... extend the time in which you will file the K-1. I am suggesting this to you because the length of your relationship (too short possibly in the eyes of immigration) will certainly raise a red flag especially in a country who is considered to be high risk for fraud.

You do not want to go through this process too soon only to end up on AP...

I am running out so I cannot get into depth as I would like to make myself more clear. If anyone else can add an expand on my thoughts, I would really appreciate it. Especially those who have experience with being on AP. Other suggestions on proving a true relationship will also be helpful.

Have a wonderful day everyone :star:

  12. It is kind of like that over on ETJ( everyting jamaican)... i initially visited the site because i wanted to learn things, but the longer i hung around, the more negativity i started to pick up on. Sometimes it is cool, but it seems it is alot of people who constantly downplay LDR's, comment on how stupid people are for getting in LDR's with JA's, it is endless. You really dont want to post, as someone always has something to say, from what i have seen. I would think the purpose of VJ would be to enlighten, provide info to those in need and to form bonds and friendships with others who have shared your experiences. Being in a LDR is a difficult thing and often scary, filled with uncertainty and numerous emotions. Sometimes it seems as if one person has had a negative experience, they make that the catalyst for every person of that particular culture. Sometimes they need to vent, other times they are confused, but often times they dont get the support they need, instead they get a million and one people sharing there " how i got screwed over stories" which in turn can plant those miniscule seeds of doubt in one's mind. I must say that i have not picked up that vibe in the yardie thread at all, everyone seems very concerned and supportive and help to make this process a little more tolerable, because you know your yardie sistren will have an answer for you. Hence the reason im on here day and night, plus the fact that i have no life....LOL..( just kidding)

You are so right though. I think that people forget the true purpose of being here and a part of me feel that some use and create the drama to escape the true realities of their own life... that may not be so pleasant.

  13. Asante Maroon, I saw your post on the other site, Thumbs up to your comments.

    Roxcie

Thanks Roxcie. I appreciate it :)

I couldn't have said it better, your post needs to be added a code of coduct compliance piece to the VJ thread. Some of the postings I have read on other sites makes me wonder who died and made them GOD.

    Be Bless

    Roxcie

Everybody has their opinions and that is fine. We are all not going to agree on everything, but it seems as if when people have a differing view from others people really take it to another level. Sometimes the war'in you see has nothing to do with the topic but some personal beef that people have from some other thread wayyyy back in the day.

When people ask for help and they clearly tell you they don't want to discuss a particular aspect of that situation, you have to respect.

On the other hand its like you can't even express your views with out being attacked on some next ting.

There are so many people who have either stayed away from VJ or just lurks around and don't comment due to potential drama. It's messed up...but hey it reflects the world we live in today

I agree it was very nice after reading most of the other posts in that thread.

    Thank you :)
