Thanks for all your help ..the reference page you gave me has such great information

You can send in your AOS package now, with the coversheet which you will print from the nvc payment portal site. You will eventually be billed for the IV fee, once your ds3032 is accepted. Then you will put that package together and mail that in with the coversheet as well.

  1. Hello everyone :)

I've been reading some of the posts and what a journey some of u had. My stepdad filed for me but the process has been moving soooooo slow I've just grown more impatient. I had a MSC receipt number and after 5 months from originally sending the I130 we called and two days later we got our NOA2. That was 04/03. My question is how long do I wait before I start calling the NVC ? They all think I should wait until the 30 days but looking at some of the timelines on this site I'm basically 10-15 days after NOA2 to case received

You can definitely call now. The NVC should have your case already. Although it seems that the field offices take a little longer to send them and send them in bulk. The worst thing that can happen is they say they dont have your case yet.

  2. OMG!!!! We are soooo happy!!!! :star::dance:    we received our approval e-mail today!!!! Thank you all for your wisdom and for sharing your experiences here!!!! Now we want to start the NVC stage as soon as we can. I have a couple of questions: :help:

1 . My husband is the Petitioner for my son, who is turning 20 on may. Does my husband need to fill an Affidavit of Support? in that case, which one.?

2 . I am currently in the process to be approved as a Permanent Resident (Removal of Conditions stage), does this mean my son will enter the country with a 3 year conditional card, or does he obtains the 10 year green card, or, since my husband is the one petitioning for him, does he enters the country as a US Citizen?

Thank you all for your responses. (L) (L) (L) I am extremely happy, and really overwhelmed. I don't know where to start!!!

Your husband (or whoever is the sponsor) will need to fill out an AOS form. Your son will need to fill out the DS230 form. I'm not sure as far as which visa he will receive (conditional or 10 yr) There is an NVC forum in the IR1 forum here, it has such valuable info. Join that thread.

  3. Quick question. So my AOS was approved yesterday and I am about to send a copy of all the documents I submitted to the NVC & USCIS to my spouse. Anyhow, since the submital of the AOS, I have received an increase in salary. Should I send in a new revised letter from HR (already have) and a new I-864 signed by me to my spouse to take to the interview? As far as paystubs are concerned, should I also send updated pay stubs? Do these have to be current or will the presents one do? For example, if the Interview is in Mid June, do they want June paystubs or will April suffice?

If the stuff you sent in was sufficient, I dont see any reason to update.

  4. I'm not sure. I asked my wife to tell me when the fees have been taken out yesterday and she told me they were both taken out already. I'll have to ask her specifically when the AOS fee was taken out. I'll wait a few more days (Monday next week) and if it still shows IN PROCESS then I'll call NVC about it, too.

The thing is, if the money is still being held, then it isnt exactly paid yet. I noticed the money pending in my bank acct, so I was confident that the payment was ok. However, it wasnt until the transactions were actually posted and the money was actually gone from my acct that the status changed to paid. Im not sure why your iv fee, which you paid after was processed and the aos wouldnt be, were they from the same bank? Sometimes when payments are initiated on a weekend through your bank, they dont start the process til the following business day. I would give it until tomorrow.

Thank you for sharing your details!

Apparently the secretary of immigration lawyer whom i used to verify my AOS form entries, did not know this fact...

As a result, i am loosing some time with this RFE (or checklist) which could be easily prevented :(:bonk:

I tell people all the time that this forum is such a wealth of information that its useless to go to lawyers. They are being paid to do what we can do ourselves so much more efficiently. People offer so much assistance, and share all the knowledge they gain along the way.

Ive done everything from bringing my hubby here on a fiance visa to him becoming a citizen, and now bringing his daughter here with only the help of visajourney. I owe my whole family and happiness to vj.

You should issue an invoice for partial refund of fees, suggest 15 percent of what you've already paid.

Then when the attorney doesn't pay up, take said attorney to small claims court and get a monetary judgement against the lawyer.

If you do this (and others do it) then 'being ignorant' proves costly for these attorneys. I Cry when I read of members bound to Guangzhou, who's attorneys were clueless about EP for Guangzhou and delayed them 4 months and 5 months in being reunited with their families.

Seriously, submit an invoice back to said attorney.

    I like this.

  5. Great! Thank you for information.

Just curious: did you had the same situation; meaning at the time when your child born in foreign country, you or your spouse was a LPR?

And then your minor child entered to the US with immigrant visa?

My case is similar but a little different.

My minor stepchild will become a citizen as well, because her father became a citizen last year. I petitioned for her as a stepmom, and therefore since she isn't getting her derivative US citizen status from me, I couldn't file 864W. I petitioned a few months before her father became a citizen. If he had been the petitioner, after he became a citizen, he would have used the I864W form.

  6. Hi Lucy,

Thanks for that info. Can she send the template I found on here or the actual cover sheet we received from NVC or both? I just logged on and paid $88 and it shows in process but I also received an error message. SO confusing.. "pulling my hair out"

The email template should be fine, but if you already have the form with her info printed, I dont think it can hurt to attach it.

Hmm... keep your eye on the payment portal for the next day or two since you got an error message. If it doesnt change to rejected, then it probably went through.

  7. So, I paid the AOS bill on Saturday, but it still shows IN PROCESS. I paid the IV bill on Tuesday and today it shows PAID. Does anyone know how long it takes for the AOS to show PAID? I just want to make sure that this isn't an error and that sometimes it takes a while. It hasn't been a week so I'm probably jumping the gun. It's just that most timelines show that their AOS fees showed up PAID within 3 business days or earlier.

I paid mine on Friday, and it showed as paid on monday. Has the money been debited from your bank acct yet? In my experience the money was pending within a day after the payment was made, and then the status changed about 2 or 3 days after.

  8. Dear VJ members,

I have received the following checklist for my two minor kids:

What should i do? Does it mean that my child will automatically become a US citizen once he enters US with immigrant visa ?

ps: my child has born in 2011 when i was a green card holder. Then in 2012, i become a US citizen.

I have sent them a separate i-864 form for my minor child, as well as for spouse.

I just received this checklist for my minor child.

When i called NVC today, i have been told that as a US citizen and parent of child, i should fill and sent i-864W for exception.

Please, help to clarify this issue.

If you are a citizen, your child will become a citizen automatically once s/he arrives with immigrant status. You only needed to file the 864W.

  9. Hi Everybody,

I enjoy reading about everybody's success this far. It gives me hope that I too will be successful soon.

My daughter is 20 and in South Africa .Our case is at NVC and I am waiting to pay the fee.

She has received the Choice of agent and we are so happy but scared beyond words because it seems Like the REAL work starts now!

I will have lots of questions I and would appreciate all the help I can get when the time comes. I am one step behind Lucy and I am so happy that I can follow her post and gain knowledge .Thanks so much everybody.

Hey Momoe. So glad everything is moving along for you. Please have your daughter or yourself email the ds3032 back to nvc asap, because they take about two weeks to accept the emails, and you cant be billed for the iv package until that is accepted. I am happy to help with anything else that I can. Im glad for the company.

  10. If you gave over both email addresses when the case number was first assigned, then all correspondence is sent by email.

Once you have a case complete, the case is put into queue for an interview date to be assigned. The embassy doesn't schedule it, NVC does. And there's no point in harassing them. You're in a queue and when it comes to your time, they'll issue you a checklist.

Take a deep breath and practice some patience.

Thanks for the response. Thats exactly what I meant though. Im hoping for no checklists, so Im going to try to not call them up. I shouldn't have used the word harassing though, I just meant calling them repetitively. I plan to use the false checklists as signs of acceptance, and just relax until after those. Im going to take this off my mind for a bit, and try to focus on something else. There's nothing I can do but be patient. Ive had no choice but to learn that throughout this process. No one teaches patience like uscis.

  11. Thank you so much!

    One more question:

Those forms include i-846, ds-230 and other civil documents, such as birth certificates, etc?

i864 that pertains to your case(A,EZ,W,or regular) and all supporting documents (taxes, transcripts, paystubs, etc)

ds230 and all supporting civil documents (birth cert, marriage cert, passport, pics, police cert)

read the instructions for both the 864 and 230, and you will see which documents you need to submit with the respective forms.

  12. How do you get the checklists? Are they typically emailed? I am very impatient, so I want to take my mind off of this a bit, and not go crazy calling NVC. Everything is in their hands at this point, and I want to just relax and wait for an email. Otherwise, I will start harrassing them around next Friday. No way will I wait for snail mail. What happens after the verbal case complete. Can we call up the embassy and harrass them for a speedy interview date?

  13. hey ladies!!!!!!!!!!!!

i JUST got an RFE for my I864 that i turned in at least 2 mnths ago LOL.. its crazy.. i messed up on the family count portion because i am immigrating 2 stepsons at the same time but didnt understand that the children should not be listed on the other's form..

so im sending the form back today..they said they DO NO need the supporting evidence im like REALLY? that seemed like something they could have looked over but whatever..

Sorry about the RFE, especially after a whole two months. I would be so angry. Hopefully they review the stuff you send back alot quicker. Im afraid for the dna test too. I am keeping my fingers crossed. We really dont need any more delays.

lucy4, you definitely should go to the interview if at all possible. We were originally going to let our bio mom take our step daughter too but I was worried too about things getting messed up. I was also told that they could deny the visa if the petitioner doesn't come to the interview (I think it just doesn't look good) I understand about the money issue too. This is not an easy process to go through on the emotions or the bank account. I've never gone through and counted up the total $$$ spent on fees travel etc.... I don't think I want to know!

As far as interviews go. I think they start scheduling interviews at the first of each month for the next available month. I had read they only schedule the first two weeks of the month but that is not true. They schedule until they are told the month is full so just keep checking with them.

Yea, thats what Im thinking... we may as well go all out. Im the petitioner, and I was thinking maybe it may lessen the chance of a dna request by a tad bit, if her dad is present too. All my documents are officially with the NVC, and everything is showing as paid, so hopefully its reviewed within the next two weeks and in a queue to be scheduled by the beginning of May.

  14. Happy dance!!

I mailed both packages together last Thursday; confirmed they were received yesterday. So we are almost on the same schedule now.

Where does her interview take place? And do you have any ideas about how quickly they schedule interviews there?

My last experience with our embassy was that they scheduled quickly - which in our case is bad as it means multiple (expensive summer-rate) trips to Bulgaria, as my husband wants to be there for his son's interview and the kid can't come here until the end of June/early July and one of us wants to accompany him on his first airplane flight ever. Now I found out his brother is trying AGAIN for a tourist visa (he is too old for us to immigrate him here) and we would pay for all of his expenses also. Oh well, it's just money...TOTALLY worth it in the end ... but still, quite expensive.

Fingers crossed for a speedy approval and interview soon for you guys!!

Her interview will be in Barbados. Im not sure how long they take to schedule. I just hope its soon. It will be pretty pricey for us too, because although her mother was supposed to handle that part, I think its best we just go ahead and do everything ourselves. My hubby, our toddler, and myself may just make a lil family vacay out of it and go to the interview. Only thing with that, is that she would have to fly over herself to meet us there. I feel kinda bad that she would be taking her first flight ever, and will be alone, but it would just cost too much for us to go there first then all fly to barbados. She's 13 and its only an hour away, so it shouldn't be that bad. I just will have to make sure she has all her documents and everything necessary for the interview. I would hate to come so far to have her mom or someone else eff everything up.

  15. What happened to your first payment? Had it not cleared your bank? Mine says PAID, but I know it had already cleared the bank and been posted.

I'm not sure what happened, but it said not paid and when I checked the receipt it said rejected. My best guess is that the hyphen, (or lack of) in my last name caused a problem. I resent it from the same acct using my husbands name, since its a joint acct and he has only one last name. It still says in process, but I know it went through this time because the money is pending in my bank acct.
