  1. Hi all, I am a K1 applicant filling out DS-160. I used to be a permanent resident of a country however after I left and was out of the country for a number of days I lost this.

I understand the question relating to whether I am CURRENTLY a permanent resident of another country should be answered NO, is this correct? I am

worried because the perm residency stamp in my passport has no expiration date and I do not want them to think I am not telling the truth.

Im obviously listing the country in the section about living in another place for more than 6 months.

any ideas on how to go about this?

    Hi everyone!

My fiancé’s interview is soon and I want to make sure he has all he needs from me for the affidavit of support. I sent the signed affidavit, 2 months worth of bank statements for each account, my latest tax return and a signed letter from my employer stating my job, salary, etc. Is that all that’s needed? Did anyone else send anything further with the affidavit?

    Thanks in advance!

Hi! I believe you should send further tax returns if you have them available, to show a longer period of stable income.

Did you send all this digitally to your fiancé?

My case has been “in transit” status for almost 2 weeks now and still no call from the embassy to my fiancé. Anyone else running into this problem? I thought the process moved quick once the case was shipped to the embassy? I know there were holidays in between but I thought once the embassy received it (which according to the DHL hack, they have), they would call. We are trying to meet a wedding deadline here so if anyone has experienced something similar with their embassy, please let me know!

In my experience with the London embassy, no one called me or emailed me when my case was ready - I just checked on ceac and saw it.

    Happy new year everyone!

Does anyone here get NVC case number? My fiance called NVC contact number and waited for 1 hour but at the end, the line got disconnected.

If you already got your NVC case number, what number did you call and how long did you wait and how did you reach human?

    Thank you in advance!

Hello! Call them 2 minutes before their opening time. I have done this twice and waited a maximum of 15 mins each time. My NOA2 was Nov 24 and my case is now in transit to the London embassy :) good luck!

I was talking about your savings, they seem to want to make sure you have enough for 90 days. Not sure I have seen anybody post recently what they are looking for. Not a lot.

He can use his assets if they are adequate, the I 864 is the big issue of course.

I see. He has savings and assets beyond the indicated salary expected. In terms of I 864 you are referring to AOS?

London allow K1 beneficiaries to self petition, now why you are going the K1 route is another matter but it is what it is.

I am going the K1 route because in January 2020 my fiancé and I were unable to get married in London for a variety of reasons, including Covid and the type of visa he is on in the UK. Our priority was getting to the US quickly. The K1 isn’t for everyone but it was for us. What do you mean by self petition?

I submitted a request for status check two weeks ago and got a canned reply about processing times on Wednesday (11/24) but the email is from the California Service Center.  I filed from abroad, shipping it to Texas Service Center.  Does this mean that the case was transferred to California?  There is no transfer listed in the Case History, it is just "Case Received."

Yes, vast majority of K1s are processed at the California center. Everyone ships the initial petition to Texas.

    Hi everyone!

    Do you have any updates?

Our NOA1 is 25th February and on 10th November we sent an “outside normal processing time” service request to the USCIS. They came back to us on 23rd November saying ''your case is currently being adjudicated. You should receive a notice of action* within 45 days.''

The same day we checked our case status online and it updated from 'Case has been received' to 'Name was Updated' even though we did not update anything. Does this mean perhaps someone is working on our case? After some reading on the forums, people give different definitions.

The anticipation is real and we're patiently waiting for our NOA2.

Wishing the best for everyone else too!

Hello! Interesting about “name was updated”. As your inquiry was positive, I would wait until next week to see if you get your NOA2 otherwise maybe give them a call and ask what I means? I filed an inquiry a month ago, received a response a few days later saying our case was pending adjudication. I technically can file another inquiry today as it’s 30 days later but the system doesn’t let me do that this morning!

My NOA1 is Feb 26 so I feel your pain! Each week I try to be positive and think it could be “the” week which tends to cause more disappointed haha.

    good luck! :)

I submitted an inquiry and got a response saying I'd hear back December 6th, but it's abundantly clear that it would be just a generic reply. That's why if I contact my representative now, I was wondering if there could be some movement from their office in contacting USCIS by the time I get a response. Or perhaps that's just wishful thinking?

Yeah I’m sure that wouldn’t do any harm! I completely understand your point of view because unless they leave behind a huge number of cases in February, they have a lot of work to do to catch up.

Yes, honestly, I don't think that anyone has accurate data anymore. They're clearly not processing March 7th petitions, nor are they anywhere close to March 19th as the USCIS' processing time says. I'm just assuming one of these days the factory will start churning again without warning, and we'll just put this behind us.

Has anyone (perhaps from February, even) tried contacting the Ombudsman recently or their representative?

You can only contact the Ombudsman 60 days after the date your case is out of processing time - someone from Feb tried to do so before and they were told they can’t do anything. I might contact my representative if I don’t hear anything this week or I don’t see movement with other cases.

Has anyone with an early March NOA-1 heard anything yet? Mine is March 8th, and I just received the following response after submitting an inquiry earlier this month.

Thank you for your inquiry. We recognize your interest in the final adjudication of your pending application/petition and are aware of the difficulties caused by any delay in processing. We regret we are not able to give you a timeframe for when we will review your case but the California Service Center is committed to processing this workload. We will be making every effort to adjudicate your case in the most efficient manner based on our available resources. We appreciate your patience and understanding.

I've seen similar responses to other inquiries submitted, which seems to suggest a delay for sure. That said, I was curious about the member data being pulled on this Visa Journey page: https://www.visajourney.com/times/

At the time of this post, the "Current Processing Times" are stating that the California service center is processing I-129F for K-1 Visa with NOA-1 date of March 7th...is this data or estimate being sourced from a petition that was approved? I would love to hear if indeed they are working through early March. Any approvals out there? If this data is accurate, that would suggest we are close, right? We are praying our approval could be soon!

I don’t think the visa journey data is accurate unfortunately. They have approved 59% of feb cases and basically nothing between 24-26 Feb. That’s not to say they won’t begin on March soon, but they are nowhere near done with February.

    Monday Update - November 14

Not much to share really. Slow movement as you know. We're up to 59% processed or in processing. The end of the month (24th to 26th) has barely been touched but the average if we exclude those dates is 76% so hopefully they get moving soon.

As always, the spreadsheet is here.

I just refined by date on the spreadsheet - so no one has a NOA1 on 27/28 Feb? Thanks again for your work.
