  1. I have a question about the police clearance. The embassy website says that Police clearance is valid for two years. Ours is 8 months old. We're now a week before the interview and the embassy send us the email telling us what documents to bring. They said the police clearance is expired and we need to get a new one. Obviously a week before the interview that's impossible (it's a minimum of two weeks to get the document.) I called the embassy visa hotline, and they told us it was ok to continue the interview if we don't have the proper document, but I'm wondering if the expiration date is a mistake? It says very clearly on the Japanese US embassy site: Obviously if we need a new certificate we will get one. But my wife is on edge about getting another delay over paperwork.
  2. I should also add, that I know about the contact form, but I'm hoping for a method that doesn't take two months to get a reply.
  3. I got my NVC docs sent back to me, asking for "proof of income" for the two sponsors. But there's no information on what income is missing documentation. For myself (primary sponsor) I gave them three years of tax transcripts, along with the equivalent of a W2 (I'm not based in the US) For my Joint sponsor (retired father,) I gave them the latest tax return, and 4 different 1099R showing various retirement and investment income. Any ideas on what else they could want?
  4. As the title says. I don't remember the exact date, but everything is uploaded and submitted, but when I check the status it still says "action required" Will it basically stay this way until the documents are reviewed, or do I need to contact them because there's a problem?
  5. No, I'm in Japan, my wife is Filipino but also here in Japan, so we're going through the Tokyo Embassy. This was the site at the Tokyo Embassy: https://jp.usembassy.gov/visas/contact-us/ Looks like this has the number for the call center you'd use for the Philippines: https://www.ustraveldocs.com/ph/ph-main-contactus.asp
  6. I used the contact form on their website, took about a month to get a reply. You should see if your embassy has a visa hotline, they were much more helpful and fast for me.
  7. If you're a K1 Visa, you're not allowed to work. After married you'd need to do an adjustment of status to a CR1 visa. I think where you're confused is that if you've been married for two years, you get an IR1 visa, which includes work permission automatically. If you have a CR1 visa, you need to ask for permission to work. It doesn't mean you have to wait two years, it just means a few extra steps.
  8. Fees paid. Forms filled. Now collecting the supporting documents. I ended up calling and talking to someone at the call center. (surprisingly easier than I thought it would be.) They told me that all Immigrant interviews are done at Naha or Tokyo, and can't be done in Osaka. The other consulates only handle non-immigrants. Also, you're expecting to be out of NVC next month? Does it really take that long? Your timeline says you started two months ago. It's like a shot in the face after getting excited that we finally got NOA2...
  9. After posting this I decided to call the embassy hotline, they asked me to email them the certificate so they could see it, and then they will tell me if it's admissable.
  10. My wife is from the Philippines, and has a police clearance which she can renew with the NBI. It has her married name on it, but has an older address. The NBI told us it's no problem to renew with the old address, but will the NVC accept it? The address listed is one of the addresses we put on the DS-260 as a previous address, and the police clearance would be valid and unexpired, just not with the current address. I tried emailing NVC last week, but seems any reply is a long time coming.
  11. We're currently in the NVC stage for an IR1 visa, and when I log in to CEAC, it says the Interview location is Tokyo. Do we really need to pay hundreds of dollars in travel expenses to go there for an interview when we're literally in bicycle distance to the Osaka consulate, or does NVC just list the main embassy for the country?
  12. I'm getting the same error. They say in the email that it may take 3 days for your login to be active. I assume that error is just because it's not ready yet.
  13. Not yet. Approval was only a few days ago. At least by looking at other timelines, it seems to be about a week between NOA2 and the NVC packet.
  14. My wife will be thrilled at this. She always gets angry when she has to order a new one. About domicile, I've already got that covered I think. I've kept a brokerage and us bank account open my entire time overseas, and have recently opened a new US bank account and new US credit card, so I should be able to prove that my absence was only meant to be temporary and not permanent.
  15. I (petitioner) am the US citizen, My wife (beneficiary) is Filipino, but both of us are currently living in Japan. On the I-130 We listed our local US consulate here as the place to apply for a visa. We just got our NOA2 earlier this week, and are hoping to get all the papers for the next step prepared ASAP. So far we have started the process for: - Police Clearance from both countries - A new birth certificate (Philippine birth certificates expire, so we need a new copy.) - I-864 From both myself and my father living in the US as joint sponsor. And related financial documents We don't want to get thrown a curve-ball though, so I'm wondering if anyone else has any idea what other documents we might need to turn in.
  16. Approved! Texas NOA1: 9/18/2021 NOA2: 7/12/2022 297 Days. Looks like TSC is taking about 300 on average. Hang in there people.
  17. The fee is free, so you won't be losing anything. But it also needs to be done by mail, and has a 11 month waiting time. If you submit it now, all that's going to happen is it will be denied whenever your i130 gets approved. It's just creating extra work for USCIS. Maybe submitting it at the same time as I130 there's a chance for it to be useful. But you're already at 300 days, so your i130 may be approved before the i129F even gets to them in the mail.
  18. You applied same day as me at TSC, so my fingers are crossed mine will flip soon too.
  19. Well it in regards to the i-485, it also says that they get about 600,000 applications per year. Which means they get around 111 applications per day, and each staff member can only process about 30 in an 8 hour shift.
  20. Think you're just reading it wrong. Spouse is the first two options there, one for permanent resident, one for citizens. Maybe that "child under 21" at the end is throwing you off?
  21. Wooo! My NOA1 was a few days before yours, so I hope mine is coming soon too!
  22. I think most of us actually went "active review" around Feburary, so it may not even be related to contacting your rep.
