Thank you so much. I just checked it is saying "AT NVC". Is there any further steps that I need to take at this point? I still have not received any e-mail or notification for instructions on the next steps. Also when filing out the timeline. What is the date I should use to fill image.png.058721cf58fa6c17f0c91d06a801be5b.png  Is it the date when NVC inquiry sends your case number or the date when the case was created (Julian date combo from the case number)?

No problem! You don't do anything now - it took a week after receiving my case number to get an update saying it's in transit. For that date, I used the date when I received my case number.

That’s about all the action you will get at the NVC stage. Now you wait until the US consulate in Jakarta requests more I-129f petitions to be forwarded to them from NVC. Until then all you can do it wait for the status to change to “In transit” and “Ready”.

Thanks for the reply! When I use the new case number they sent me on the CEAC website, it just says my case is at the NVC, I don't see anything regarding in transit -  are they waiting for the consulate in Jakarta to request more petitions? I thought when the NVC receives our case, they send an email and letter to both me and my fiancée with instructions on the next steps (DS-260, medical checkup, etc). Just want the interview already!

  3. Hello everyone!

Just some background on our case, we received our NOA2 on September 21st after a very long wait (we applied July 2021). After no information from the NVC, I sent an email to the NVC research email (NVCResearch@state.gov) and got a response within a few days saying they received our petition and to wait for further instructions via mail. That was over three weeks ago and still nothing. I sent another email yesterday and got a response today with a case number (progress!) but that's it. I put the number into the CEAC website and it says our case is at the NVC. I guess my question is how much longer until we get that letter and email detailing the final steps to the interview? Is there any action required on my part right now? I'm finalizing documents including the i-134 to send to my fiancée in Indonesia, and if I'm not mistaken, I don't have any fees to pay now. Just a lot of waiting, just passed two months since our NOA2. Thanks for any help!

    1. If you are waiting  on NOA2, why have you submitted I-134?

    2. To whom did  you submit I-134?

See https://www.visajourney.com/guides/k1-fiance-visa/ for a description of the process.

I haven't submitted the i-134, I'm just looking ahead at the next steps because our petition was approved and I wanted to get ahead of my concerns so I know how to fill out the i-134 properly when the time comes.

  5. Hello! Recently our i-129f petition got approved and I am patiently waiting for the NOA2 in the mail. I've encountered a question I knew would come up eventually. I submitted our petition while I and my fiancée were employed in Japan, so I listed my dad as a co-sponsor as I obviously didn't have a job in the US at the time and I don't have assets equal to what the USCIS requires . Since I've returned this past April, I have found a job that is above the minimun income requirement, so do I still need to incorporate my dad in the i-134? We do plan on living with my parents temporarily upon my fiance's arrival, but I will be supporting her financially. If there's no downside to including him that's fine, but I'm not exaclty how to navigate the form if I were to include him and me on it. Thanks!

I doubt the embassy in Jakarta will reply to your e-mails until they receive the K-1 packet. The time to set up an interview there can vary a lot. Way back when my wife went through the process, it was common for applicants to be able to arrange the interview 1-2 weeks after Jakarta had everything, but when we finally got to that stage, the earliest we could schedule an interview was 6 weeks later.

Pre-covid, I would have said you'd probably be safe with a June wedding, but who knows these days.

Also, did you put her address down as being in Indonesia or Japan?

Thanks for your reply. I put her home/mailing address in Indonesia and her current address in Japan, as well as saying the Jakarta Embassy is the one she is closest too. I figured it would be impossible to get an interview in Tokyo if they received our case in July.

At this point I'll be happy for her to come anytime in the summer and wedding in the fall.

May/June wedding is probably unlikely. I learned in this process that It’s better to lower expectations so that you won’t be disappointed time and time again. You can check my timeline to see how long the process took for me during COVID and with consulate resuming all visa categories fully.

Did you check the consulate website first? They announced they resumed all operation in a limited capacity.

Appreciate the reply. I did check the website, you are right. I guess some sort of timeframe would put my mind at ease. Your timeline seems seems modest despite COVID, I hope ours takes the amount of time yours did! For now I'll temper my expectations.

  8. Hello all, I sincerely hope everyone is well and safe.

Just some background on my situation, currently living in Japan with my Fiance, we are both here on working visas. Hers expires in December, where she will go back to Indonesia and be with her family. My contract here is over at the end of March and I plan on being home by mid-April. We got our NOA1 on July 13th and is currently at the California center. I'm trying to be optimistic and hope for a summer wedding with my fiance coming in May or June, but I'm pretty disuaded looking at posts about the length to get NOA2 as well scheduling interviews. She would be interviewing at the Embassy in Jakarta. I know processing times for everything is varying wildly from person to person, so any thoughts on my timeline/situation would be appreciated. Also emailed the Jakarta Embassy with no luck yet so not sure what their situation is looking like with interviews. Thanks
