  1. I'm sorry but I cant help it :bonk: What's wrong with riding a bus? Why cant people who ride bus be or have anything to do with being a successful citizen? Just curious.

 I wish I had a choice.... some places there is none! Back in the UK I rode the bus and never felt like an unsuccessful UK citizen! Doesn't make sense...

After reading how many people were required to parallel park in their driving tests, it makes me understand a little better why people here in Ohio suck so much at driving. My test was.... drive through cones, reverse through cones, drive round the block. Stop at stop signs. And voila, you've passed!

I've never had to parallel park here but I was taught in the UK and had to all the time living in Brussels.

OP, practise makes perfect! You can do it, just keep trying and before you know it you'll be parking like a pro. It's not difficult once you've figured out your markers and when to turn the wheel which way. Good luck!

We're not talking about UK here! You're country is different from US. Transportation here is difficult without your own vehicle. how can you work., go grocery shopping or go just about anywhere anytime you like without waiting for the bus schedule, taxi, or wait for somebody to pick u up. Does it make sense to you now?

Wow perhaps I am reading too much into your lovely answer there but I am aware that the US and the UK are different. I live in Ohio for crying out loud, public transport is pretty much nonexistent. So YES, thank you, that does make sense to me.

And to answer your previous post, in the UK you couldn't get a bus at 2am to go to the grocery store either.

It may surprise you that SOME places in the US DO have public transport, just not in hicksville where I, and apparently you, live.

But just FYI, I'm sure there are plenty of people on VJ who live in cities and rely on public transport who do not appreciate being called unsuccessful citizens. Does it make sense to YOU now?

Atleast I do make sense to you right?. I don't care if they don't appreciate me saying its hard to be a successful citizen without your own car. I'm not saying that you can't be a successful citizen without your own car. What I'm saying is, its very hard to go almost everywhere without having one. For that, its very difficult to be a successful citizen. You know that! It seems like you rather not drive huh? We'll goodluck to you! Have fun on the bus or cab. And to answer your question, you don't make sense to me at all!!!

  2. My whole family got tested for parrallel parking including all my friends from new york, new jersey, connecticut, and cali and including all the people I know. Which comes more than 100 people. And based on our washington state driver licensing its their part of their requirements. Is it just a coincidence that all of us got tested for parrallel parking? which means all of those states mentioned are wrong?

 Well, that's great that you asked all 100 people to see if they all had to parallel park in order to get their driver's license. I still don't buy it though. Like I said in my previous comment, it's not done all the time and it's being tested less and less. Well, besides for all 100 of your family members.

And no, there is absolutely nothing wrong with riding the bus to get places. I know plenty of people who do it, many of them by choice and they are completely fine with it.

It's not a good thing to generalize, you know.

    Diana

Well it's good to know that some other people are willing to ride a bus. Thats good for u & good for them. I'm happy for u guy's who choose to ride a bus than having there own vehicle. I think that really make very good sense. Good luck to all the bus lover's.

  4. And I'm not being rude to you. I was just trying to tell you that were on the same boat. Even if you live here for over a year., and yes definitely in my opinion you can't be a successful citizen if you can't parralel park. I may be stupid to you. but for a reason that if you can't parrallel park there is no way you can get your driver's license and therefore you can't drive unless you may want to just ride a bus. and be a successful citizen just by riding a bus? And having an excuse that you can't do parrallel parking that's why.

I'm sorry but I cant help it :bonk: What's wrong with riding a bus? Why cant people who ride bus be or have anything to do with being a successful citizen? Just curious.

    To the OP..

Practice make perfect.. I was driving when I lived in Bangkok and I was an expert in parallel parking then (and it was a very very tight space) but since I live here, there's so much space and I got spoiled  now I still can parallel park but I'm not as good anymore.

Other people gave you some nice tip.. practice! and good luck!

well here in US., without having a vehicle you can't go places that easy. you have to wait for somebody to pick u up, ride a bus, a cab,and transportation here is limited by hours. For instance if you need to go to a store at 2 am, there's no bus you have to pay more money to ride a cab. As you can see, having your own car is that important here. Well in the first place you have a car right?, so you know the convenience of owning one. So goodluck if you choose to ride a bus and be successful with it.:blink:

  5. according to my husband.,You don't have any choice. Parallel parking is one of the test procedures to get a license.

WRONG!!! Not all the time and it's being tested less and less. I didn't have to parallel park to get my license and neither did my husband.

raphandarrin, I would teach you in no time as I'm the queen of parallel parking. I had a great teacher when I was in high school who gave me very good pointers on how to do it. Let's see if they make sense on paper:

If parking on the right hand side of the street:

    1. Drive up close to the car you're parking behind.

    2. Make sure your side mirror is almost parallel with the mirror of the same car.

    3. Turn your wheel all the way to the right. This is key.

    4. Start backing up and as soon as your right hand mirror is close to the left stop light of the car you're parking benhind, start turning your wheel to the left.

    5. That's it, you're done!

It takes practice but it's doable.

    Good luck!!!

  6. Sorry If you think I'm rude but as I have said., its "according to my husband because he read your post and he was like "why is she complaining" and he told me the same way because evrytime he's teaching me to drive., I was like., "why should I learn to parrallel park"? you know what I mean? but now I understand that its really their rules so we can't do anything about it.

And I'm not being rude to you. I was just trying to tell you that were on the same boat. Even if you live here for over a year., and yes definitely in my opinion you can't be a successful citizen if you can't parralel park. And you know what., you're telling me your not whining? yes you are! because you were complaining why you fail the driving test because you can't parrallel park. and for a reason of posting your problem here trying to get opinions from the vj'rs., isn't that complaining or isn't that whining?.,proving all of us here that parrallel parking is not that important and here I am just giving you advice because I thought we were in the same situation but you're telling me I'm rude?I may be rude now. But I just want to know that we are all in adjustment of status and and it doesn't matter how long are you staying here. The fact that we are all non permanent residents still wating for aprrovals meaning., you should know how to meet their requirements atleast.

And you also told us that you don't really wanna have to do it? read your post again and now tell me your not whining.

  7. according to my husband.,You don't have any choice. Parallel parking is one of the test procedures to get a license. If you are really interested in getting a driver license., stop whinning, practice and learn how to parrallel park. You will see how important it is coz there's those places that have no available parking spot except parrallel park. and that's one of the most important requirement to get a driver license otherwise you have to learn how to ride a bus.

Same thing with me., right now I dont have an ead yet but I was able to get a learner's permit even without ssn. Coz here in washington., you can get a license without ssn and ead just by signing a social security declaration form. So right now he's teaching me how to drive. I keep on whinning all the time and he often yells at me and told me that I don't have a choice because I'm in a different country now and If I want to be a permanent resident here., then I should abide by the laws. And if I want to be a successful citizen here., well I should do whatever it takes and besides youi're lucky because you already know how to drive. All you have to learn is to parrallel park. Compared to me., I'm just starting to learn driving lol. So goodluck!!!!

  8. Don't worry. Same thing happened to me. I'm already now in the US. I was interviewd march 2008. nagbayad ako sa delbros ng 1 month ago and then., nung interview ko wala pa rin ang result ng dv. I keep contacting usem tapos under review daw. So I just wait and wait finally after I month and 2 weeks nakuha ko yung visa. You can't do anything about it. It's their system., It's their requirement. Minsan sa sobrang dami ng applicants natatabunan yung papel or nauuna yung iba., Sa ngayon., all you guys have to do is wait. Basta make sure you keep calling usem., delbros and nso kung nasan na yung papel nyo.

Nung time ko., The longest time na alam ko sa dv ay 2 1/2 months that is kung walang problema sa name nyo at makita agad sa nso. Goodluck. And don't worry. Minsan as early as 2 weeks kuha na agad so cheer up. Just look at me andito na sa US 5 months ago. at naaalala ko din nung time na naghihintay ako ng visa. Sobrang hirap pero ngayon natatawa nalang ako pag naalala ko kasi woorying won't do you any good kasi dadarating din lahat yan. just be patient. Ok goodluck

  9. Yes you can extend it but your AOS will breeze through and also, you don't want to waste time. Approval of AOS means that you can start counting days towards naturalization.

If you case is adjudicated after the 2nd anniversary of your marriage, your COA (Category of Admission) would be IR6 (Immediate residence through Adjustment, 10 YR GC) rather than CR6 (Conditional residence through adjustment, 2 YR GC).

    Hope that helps.

Note: You can apply anytime, as long as it is not approved before the 2nd anniversary of your marriage.

Thanks shakil for that. Yeah I know.,You're right I don't want to waste time. I arrived here in the US last April 2008 and I filed MY AOS AND EAD already. WE already married for two years . Our 2nd anniv was last june 2008 and a perfect timing because I applied AOS 2 months after our 2nd anniv. So I've got more time because I just got here April so that's month's ago., I'm just waiting for my ead and AOS approval.

Thanks again for sharing the good news that I will be receiving a 10 yr green card. thanks!!!

  10. yes I'm aware of that that'why I also apply for EAD but my question is if I read in the k3 guidelines that you can extend the k3 beyond two years., does it mean I can extend it for another two years if it expires prior to approval of AOS?

Well., I'm hoping though that my AOS will not take even a year for it to be approved but I just want to make sure., and I want to know every single details regarding k3 and I'm not fully aware of k3 thing. All I know is it's a spouse visa non immigrant with two years of expiration and need to adjust status once your inside US. that's it

    But thanks though for replying

And by the way., We got married june of 2006. My hubby applied for USC before he petition me. So I just got here like 5 months ago. And we reached the 2 years of anniversary last june 2008 and I applied AOS last month (August) so Do you mean I can get a 10 year gr card?

  11. Hi guys! It seems most people here are k1 adjusting to PR. But I'm still wishing that one of you can answer my question. I've read the k3 guidelines that K3 visa is a multiple entry visa that's why I didn't apply for AP. And also you can extend the visa beyond 2 years. So what do you mean by that. For instance., I'm still waiting for my AOS approval.,and my visa will soon expire., so do you mean I can apply for an extension of 2 yrs or more?

If that the case., that is perfect. I got lots of time for AOS. I already filed in August for I-765 and I-485 and my visa will expire in 2010. So I can extend it for another two years.,?????

Another question., will application for AOS change my k3 status?

I hope you can help me with this.., especially those who are k3 holders., please enlighten me!! I'm really confused of my status now that my application has been filed.

    thank you!

  13. hi Guys!!!! I was touch on the day of my biometrics for my I-485 and I-765 and now I was touch again for my I-485 only last 9/17. I was hoping for a transfer because I'm not expecting rfe at all because I submitted the complete requirements( keeping my fingers crossed) however., my online info is still the same., at nbc and pending. Maybe it was just a touch and mean nothing but my question is., Is the transfer to csc mostly in K1 only? I'm a k3 holder. So I won't be expecting a transfer then? So sad!!!! So what could be that touch mean., rfe? or simply nothing., Or betteryet., I'll just for the mail then., online is not reliable., If I have no chance of being transferred to csc then., I'll just pray that tpuch is just a "touch" not an rfe? huhuhu

  15. Hi guys!!!! I just want your opinion on this I had my biometrics done on 9/10 and that same day I had a touch on both I-485 and I-765 so that is for sure because of the biometrics. I just checked my satus online and I got a touch today exactly 1 week after biometrics for my I-485 only not on I-765. But then my I-485 still shows that my appliocation is still on national benefits center and pending. I'm expecting though that this could mean a transfer. I based it from the timeline of those who got their i-485 transferred to CSC and they are all 1 week after biometrics. I'm just confused why the status of my case is still not updated and shows pending even though I got a touched. I'm worried too that I might get an RFE but I believe I submitted all and completed all the requirements needed. So what do you think guys?

  16. I'm from washington and I submitted my AOS applications in Chicago IL., Now my applications are both pending in national benefit center. My question is Where is the national benefit center located? Where will they process my application. Because I'm near Seattle so I'm wondering they will process my application in Seattle and will interviewed there and there is no way that my case will be transferred to csc? I aldo did my biometrics there in Seattle

Because I heard., they are slow in Seattle., Too bad I'm near Seattle., So does the processing of application work?

And why is it when I checked online., there is no processing dates for I-485?

Are there any who's near Seattle? How is the processing of applications so far?

what are the dates they are processing now?

Any help will be truly appreciated. Thanks!!!!

  17. Hi! its good that you open this topic. Atleast I know I'm not the only one in this situation. Well this is my story. I had my medical from philippines only last February. I arrived here only last April. So before filing the Aos., we decided to go to the nearest cs not planning to redo the medical because it was just recent. So he said., he won't sign the I-693 if I won't redo my medical., So to make the story short., I did the medical. I had my tst and it came out positive. He doesn't ask me to have another chest xray because my xray is just current and its normal and no signs of tb. So he just let me go to the health department and give me medications. In the health department., they let me redo the xray. And the xray result is again normal and no signs of tb. They gave me a blood test to check my liver. The cs just put class b tb latent and also put there I have started a medication.

I'm worried at first but because of your post., I'm now worry free. Thank you so much.

Actually I also have a bcg vaccination when I was a kid. And as a matter of fact., I don't have to redo my medical because I entered here in US as a K3 and my medical from Philippines is less than a year before filing the AOS but I submitted the whole medical report and the vaccination supplement in a sealed envelope. I hope I won't get an rfe for this., I submitted more than what is required., because of my innocence and stupidity agreeing with the doctor to perform another medical which cost me 600 dollars for the whole medical and xray and tst and blood test. I hope those who will read this and will just start filing their AOS., will learn from my mistakes., and beware of your CS.
