  1. I don't know where this idea came from that zoomer has his list sorted by NOA1 received date. The only received date that zoomer knows with certainty is his own.

The VJ timeline NOA1 dates that zoomer utilizes are probably a combination of NOA1 hard copy received, notice and priority dates as well as some USCIS online case status petition received dates. (Note that the online received date usually differs from the hard copy received date.) In addition, recently added instructions on the VJ timeline edit page tell members to enter the hard copy notice date as the NOA1 date. This means that VJ is actively encouraging members not to enter the received date on their timelines. (I disagree with VJ on this, but have followed instructions and entered my notice date.)

In my humble opinion, zoomer should sort his list by sent date. Received date normally follows sent date by a few days so the sent date is the best indicator we have of where we all stand in line.

  2. You Are right! Cubans are getting approved very quickly, some in just days. I have posted a thread explaining my understandings as to why the quick approval. Cuban Fiance(e)s are not treated as political gesture....Your analogy of "sort of asylum" is not true...K-1 applicants are treated the same as any other applicant from any other country. The processes are just the same, if not a bit more problematic as the Cuban government tries to make it more costly and difficult for any cuban to leave.

What do you mean by saying K1 applicants (you mean the ones from Cuba?) are treated the same as any other applicant from any other country?

  3. I read somewhere on here that the reason Cubans are priority processed is that it takes a long time for them to receive an interview in Switzerland. I'm not sure whether this is a fact, but if you do a timeline search (there are only 34 Cuban K1 applications within the VJ timeline data) the average no of days for the entire process is between 175 and 382 days - with CSC averaging 320 days.

By contrast, the average processing for a UK beneficiary is 143 to 215 days and they don't receive priority processing before receiving an NOA2.

Here's some more (chosen fairly randomly):

    Canada 169-237 days

    China 233-322 days

    Mexico 146-206 days

    Turkey 182-208 days

    Vietnam 225-286 days

This is not a comprehensive analysis of the data, data skewing could be caused by the total number of applications or incomplete timelines but on balance it looks pretty fair to me. Cubans get processed faster in the early stages but typically end up waiting longer for the whole process to complete.

Plus, I am just guessing here, but I imagine it also causes some logistical and planning issues for the Cuban to get to Switzerland.

That´s true...no fun really having the Embassy on the other side of the world...on the other hand I remember snowangel (I hope I am not mistaken) talking about how poorely they treat people in US Embassy in Egypt... sometimes they don´t receive their passport with visas for another 3, 4, 5, 10 months after the interview...so I dunno...think it would just be fair to say how things are and not to keep saying they take petitions as they come..

  4. So since we finally received NOA1 hardcopy today we just updated our timeline and so next time bszoom has time to make another list we will finally be in it! But since the order on his list is by the date when people received NOA1 we will be at the end of the list! :crying:CSC received our package on 06-13 which would put us somewhere around number 145 but since we received our replacement receipt notice on 10-05 (since we never received the original), it will put us somewhere around number 355! :crying: That´s unfair :P Could the list be in the order of how petitions were sent please?

On your NOA1 what does your recieved date say? not the notice date. that is what he goes by for the list.

    Chris

well like i said ...received date is 06-15...but the VJ timeline asks for when we received NOA1 receipt so they can include it in their statistics as for "average days from sending petition to receiving NOA1" ...so that´s why in VJ timeline i stated i received NOA1 10-05...and i guess that´s where he takes the data from...

  6. So we were out all day. Came back home and found a letter in the mailbox  Thank you CSC, we finally received our NOA1 hardcopy :D

The received date written on it was 06-15 so I changed our countdown since so far we could only use the date that was written on USCIS pages and that was later than that. Our countdown jumped up from 105 days to 111 days. So there you go!

Though I was hoping to see more people approved today...? Ok slow week. And so...does USCIS have a day off on Columbus Day?

  7. Oh I know it can be crazy - especially the summer months... unfortunately when we come back for our UK wedding celebration it is going to be next summer most probably (end of June) and we just can't book that at all yet which is annoying - we'll either have to go for a mid-week or just pick through the leftovers :D

yup...and then it will be all in a rush and some people that we invited to our wedding might not even be available for those days, everybody is from a different part of the world and it just sucks...I think if we have to change our wedding date, we will just get married with a witness in the 90 days they tell us to get married in cuz trying to gather family from different parts of the world isn´t that easy...
