  1. Hi... recently we received notification that the NVC now has our approved USCIS I-129F.

    My Questions:

1] Where can I go online, with my new NVC case number, to find the status of our case?

2] Although her pre-teen child was listed on all the necessary forms submitted to the USCIS, the letter from the NVC only lists my fiancee in their initial letter and there is no mention of her child. Is this because they consider my fiancee as the 'benificiary'?

Does anyone else have experience with bringing a fiancee's child over to the US along with thier fiancee?

Thank you to all that reply.

No website, you need to call 1 603 334 0700. press 1 1 2 enter the first 3 letters of your NVC case number and follow the instructions

You can speak to an operator also betweeen 7:30am and midnight EST during workdays by calling the same number.

Form generations (DS-3032, I-864, DS-230, etc) are on Mondays only. You can find out about that on Tuesdays.

  2. Are you sure? That's weird. I have the same person case completed a day before you and already got the December interview, only she is from Manila (USEM).

Are you sure that it was a day before mine? The 12th was Veterans Day, I doubt they showed up for work that day. :)

For my consulate NVC schedules the interviews. I called DOS yesterday but the operator put me on hold and never (at least until I hang up after 15 minutes) returned. Maybe the phone system just messed it up or he really went to lunch break in the meantime, I do not know.

I will try NVC today before they shut down for 4 days.

  3. Hi Guys,

My case was completed by the NVC a week ago.

I do not yet know if I will have an appointment scheduled for December. I did not receive packet 4 from NVC, either.

I will be busy in December and cannot get off for 2-3 days from work to do the medical and all other tests and vaccinations. Can I do it now? Is there an official form will be sent by the NVC I need to present at the medical and AIDS test, etc? (I have the addresses of physicians)

  4. Hi im new in this. My husband is a legal permanent resident and he want to start the procedure. What visa we need cuz in the guide says only for Us citizen but not for LPR. Please I need information , I dont know to much the language, if anyone talk spanish is much better to me, very very thank you.:thumbs:

If your husband is not a US citizen yet, then he can file for you only in F2-1 category. There is an annual limitation of visas in this category. Due to the annual limit there is a long waiting list before your visa/greencard can be issued. Currently they are approving people who applied in October 15, 1998 (9 years wait)

He first has to apply at USCIS. Ones his petition is approved by USCIS it will be forwarded to NVC. But NVC will not do any further action on your case until you get through the waiting list sometimes in 2016. Then you will have your visa/greencard approved.

If your husband becomes US citizen in the meantime he can notify NVC about it. NVC will immediatelly convert the case to IR-1 and will continue to process it. There is no waiting list in IR-1 category.

  5. I have just got off the AVR system, my case was completed yesterday. No RFE. Thanks for everybody for the useful information on this site that helped me go through NVC. I used all the shortcuts posted on this site.

FYI, my DS230 was entered into NVC's system on October 31st.

I hope it is not too late to have an appointment scheduled this week for December.

I hope Trailmix gets the same message this morning, finally. Her case should have been completed weeks ago.

I do not know if it makes a difference in processing, I have just received the actual DS-230 package yesterday. On the envelope provided there is stamp in the lower left corner: APPT

If your consulate is an Appointment Processing one put these letters to the return envelope. The envelope they sent is 30.5x23cm, the size of APPT is about 15 mm (height)

  6. Any good news yet trailmix? ^_^

No news yet, I called again last night - same message.

The person I spoke to a couple of weeks ago said it could be escalated on Nov 9th - because the documents were really there on October 3rd (the ones I resent over a week ago now) sooo if no change in the message by Tuesday I will ask them to do that.

Actually Monday isn't actually a statutory holiday in the U.S. is it? Anyone know if Gov. offices are open Monday?

It is a Holiday for government employees, so unfortunately one more extra day of delay for us.

Although my DS-3032 was generated on Labor Day, so that process seems to take place on all Mondays of the year, even on Holidays.

  7. When was your DS-230 entered into NVC's system?

The DS-230 was entered into the NVC system on October 30th.

Thanks a lot! I am just one day behind you. I hope my one gets done this week, too.

I just checked, it did not happen yesterday. Maybe today. Does the IVR get update by Saturday or we have to wait until next business day to find out if anything happened to our case on Friday?

  8. Hi Guys,

Each month begins on a different day of the week, so most of the time the first week of the month includes less than 5 days of workdays.

Some month begins on a Saturday, so 0 workday for that week. With this monthly variation the 5 working day of the second week may vary

a lot. It may begin as early on the 3rd and end on the 7th of the month and it may begin as late on the 9th and end on the 13th of the month.

(a calendar week starts officially on Sundays in the US)

Do you think NVC follows this natural variation or uses a more balanced way to do this? I think they may regard the first week from the 1st of the month to the 7th and the second week from the 8th to the 14th. This is only speculation, no proof or confirmation from NVC.

Do you happen to have any information that can refute or confirm this speculation?

My case is waiting for completion at NVC since Oct 31st, hopefully in the next few days (if no RFE, of course). Not sure if I miss the boat for interview scheduling in November (as it takes place on the second week of each month for the next month). So it may turn out to be critical in my case when the second week of November ends (according to NVC).

    Sorry for the long post,

    Zil

  9. I think they will be closed next Monday, too. (Veterans day)

"The Uniforms Holiday Bill (Public Law 90-363 (82 Stat. 250)) was signed on June 28, 1968, and was intended to insure three-day weekends for Federal employees by celebrating four national holidays on Mondays: Washington's Birthday, Memorial Day, Veterans Day, and Columbus Day. After protests by veterans groups, it was moved back to November 11 in 1978 (most states had reverted to the original date during the 70s). Even though it is a federal and state holiday, it is formally observed in most parts of the United States only by government offices and banks. Some schools and almost all businesses stay open on regular schedules."

Most of the employees at NVC are employed by contractors, but the supervisors are federal emloyees.

  10. the department of state is on my side and saying there is nothing wrong with my sponsorship requirement per their records.. however, the consulate asked my husband to submit additional documents... so i want to know who is bigger?

The consulates fall under the Department of State. Condolezza Rice is the head of that department.

Yes but as an entity of DOS, the people manning the information line in DC have zero power to overturn a decision made at a Consulate. Further, when such a decision is overturned, it is USCIS, part of Dept. of Homeland Security, that says, "Send this back to the Consulate and issue the visa this time unless you have a new reason not to."

    Consulates issue visas.

    That is basically true.

I know about exceptions in the past for non-immigrant visas such as H-1B (not sure if these exceptions still exist after 9/11 ) that the Department of State issued the visa to people who sent their passport (while in the US) to St. Louis for a visa stamp. I still have my passport that has the visa in it. Issuing Post Name: Department

The person who this visa was issued by the Department was already in the US in the same status. The visa was only needed if left and needed to reentry.

  11. As far as I was aware, Claudeth's AOS petition didn't go anywhere near the NVC. It first went to Chicago and then to CSC

That was Adjustment of Status but this is Affidavit of Support, same acronym, different meaning.

In the case of consular processing Affidavit of Support needs to be sent to NVC.

In the case of Adjustment of Status processing Affidavit of Support does not need to be sent to NVC, but to USCIS.

  12. Hi Guys,

I used to live in the US in the past (over 6 months).

I knew I did not need a US police certificate to be submitted with my DS-230 package. NVC itself will do the background check.

I am wondering if it will take any longer to complete my case due to this extra step. Does anybody have any experience on this matter?
