  1. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW HOW LONG IT TAKES FOR NATURALIZATION AFTER APPLICATION OF SOMBODY WHO IS UNDER 18 YRS OF AGE AND BEEN IN THE COUNTRY FOR 10 YEARS WITH AN AMERICAN BORN CITIZEN MOTHER.

    WHAT PROCESS SHOULD THEY FOLLOW?

Are you kidding? That person is a US Citizen deriving citizenship from parent. No need for naturalization. Only application for a Certificate of Citizenship is needed if the child does not yet have a US birth certificate or a US passport.

  2. I am a US citizen and my husband is a perm. resident. Before coming to the US he raised his brother's son, after the death of both the child's parents. The child is now 10 years old. He thinks his mother may have actually filed adoption papers and legally adopted the child, making him my husband's brother. Am I, as the US Citizen spouse, eligible to file the I-130 for this child?

    No.

If your spouse adopts the child (or you, it is even better) then it is possible.

  3. Kudos to Honeywell for having the foresight to get out while 'da gettens good'......

It'll be a lot worse with either Obama or Clinton in office.....Dem congress, and Dem senate!~ Yep, ideal!

We should expect many more to jump ship in the future.

Oh well, it's all America's fault anyways........

Can that be worse than under the current administration? His policies ruined everything in the last 7 years. The dollar is a POJ, the country is loosing its world dominance, prices are shooting up, a recession is almost certain.....

  4. Greetings. I am an American citizen, and my longtime boyfriend and I will marry in a month in Pakistan. He was here in NYC on a Fulbright scholarship, and has been back in Pakistan for 6 months doing his 2 year home residency requirement. (HRR). He will be released from this in June of 2009.

We are planning on filing the I-130 papers, but I worry about timing it right. Does anyone have experience with this? We are not looking to evade his HRR, but to have everything processed and ready to go when his HRR is over.

    Cheers.

You can file I-130, NVC will receive the file after it gets approved by USCIS, but will not process it until the 2-year HRR is over.

  5. Now i have another question! Last night i received a NVC letter dated 01/24/2008 and on it it says my interview date of 03/17/2008!!! YUPI!!!!!!!! hahahaha

But when i call the NVC they say they do not have an interview date scheduled! Wierd huh? Anyone have this experience before??

Also i am doing cr-1, The letter does not mention anything about me paying for a fee in Lima. Do i need to pay anything in lima for the cr-1???

They told me the same in December. Next day I received their letter with the interview date on it. It was dated many days earlier than I called them. So they keep misleading people by saying no date is scheduled, yet. Go with the date on the letter, that is official. I had my interview on the day that was stated on the letter. I stopped calling those idiots.

  6. Another thing I've experienced is if I treat some woman nice, respectful, and considerate they in turn treat me like #######. The same woman who I ignore or just say hello when we bump into each other then goes out of their way to chat, arrange lunch, etc.

    That's so true.

  7. My fiance's UK passport expires in 2009. If we are married and he gets his greencard, does he keep the British Passport or would he apply for an American one?

He wants to know if he should renew his passport before he moves here.

    Thanks!

Green Card is not US citizenship. He cannot apply for a US passport.

After he spent 3 years as a greencard holder he can apply for US citizenship. Ones he becomes citizen he can apply for US passport. In the meantime he better renew his UK passport if he wants to travel internationally.

  8. I called to the NVC this morning  no news for now

    Anyone has any news???????

They played the same game with me last month. On the 13th and 14th of December both operators told me that my interview was not yet scheduled. I called because the automated system said on December 12th that my case was sent to the consulate on December 10th. I received the interview letter on December 17 . It was dated December 7. So even a week after it was actually scheduled they kept saying it was not.

  9. Hello everyone!!!!

I have a question about the DS-230. I am the petitioner and my wife in Japan is the beneficiary. I should receive the DS-230 soon but I want to scan the documents and send them to my wife and let her send them to the NVC. It would be faster than having her send the signed DS-230 to me and then I send them to the NVC.

Will this cause any trouble? Will the DS-230 being sent from Japan cause problems?

    Thanks!

    :help:

    NVC could not care less.

  10. yes thnx but does anybody have any clue if u change the barcodes or not ????

If you change the barcodes on the DS-230 sample? I don't understand your question.

If you decide to use James' shortcuts to generate your own DS-230 coversheet, you will have to change the case #, barcode and personal information to yours because the ones that are already there are just sample #s he used. The shortcuts show you how to generate your own barcode and how to paste it on the DS-230 coversheet.

    Diana

No no I was talking about the coversheet that goes with DS-230, the two barcodes one on the top and the other on the bottom, I dont know if they have to be the same size as they are or one smaller or bigger than the other. Can someone tell me or show me pls??

And for the [Agent Name] is it all capital and the Name goes first then the last name? And for the [beneficiary Name] the same thing as well?

    Dear Sir/Madam:

This letter contains instructions for processing the immigrant visa case of [beneficiary Name]. We have received all necessary Immigrant Visa fees for this case.

Each traveling applicant must now complete Applicant Document Processing. Please go to the Department of State website at the following address: http://Travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_1335.html. Click on the Applicant Document Processing link and follow the instructions.

As part of the Applicant Document Process, each traveling applicant will be required to return a DS-230, Application for Immigrant Visa, to the National Visa Center at the following address:

You MUST RETURN THIS PAGE along with the requested documents to:

    National Visa Center

    ATTN: CMR

    32 Rochester Avenue

    Portsmouth, NH 03801-2909

When returning documents to the National Visa Center, failure to adhere to the following guidelines will result in a delay in processing:

    * Failure to return this page

    * Failure to write the applicant’s case number in the upper right hand corner of ALL documents

    * Attaching documents for other cases to this page

    * Sending information for other cases in the same envelope without attaching the NVC's letter to the front of each case's documents

    BGT2007123456

FOR FAMILY-BASED IMMIGRANT VISAS: If this is a family-based visa case, then the petitioner,

[Petitioner Name] should pay the Affidavit of Support (I-864) Fee and complete an Affidavit of Support (I-864) form.

The upper one is smaller. I believe that is only used when mailing the document to you. It is visible through the window of the envelope they use, so it can be scanned from outside (for sorting and tracking purposes). I think that one can be left out when you generate the cover sheet (either remove it or change it to your case number). The lower, larger bar code is more important, most likely that is the one they will scan ones they receive it from you.

  11. Zil, I'm glad for You that you finaly done with them..How many operators- so many different opinions..

Our case was complete next day after Yours but we didn't get interview date- at least yesterday..Because our operator told to call next week- just in case if they will be able to tell more..I can imagine already what they will tell me if they sheduling interviews every second week of the month..wait longer..

Well at the same time I wish best luck for all of You who will be having interviews in January..Do not forget to share Your experience..Fingers are crossed for all of You guys..

    Hi guteLT,

I hope you still get one for January.

I was almost left out, I have my appointment very close to the end of January.

  12. My interview was scheduled on December 10, 2007 for January 10, 2007.

The automated system has not changed to "NVC left" yet (i.e. still reads about "Case Complete" from October), however I did receive the interview appointment notice today.

I guess the case has left NVC but the IVR is not updated yet, or it will leave shortly?

In my case system says it has been sent to the consulate on Dec 10. I called yesterday and I was told that the interview date is not yet actually set and I should call back on Friday or next week to find it out.

  13. Different embassy for me, but same problem.

I think the embassies needed a month to catch up on the pending Standard cases before the switchover to NVC Appointment processing.

Now, hoping and praying they won't use the same excuse again on December 15th...

    My thoughts exactly

They always come up with a new excuse, so I would not be surprised. Chances for December are gone, hoping for a January date.

  14. Hello

I am very happy to say that my husband had his tourist visa interview today and was approved, Meanwhile we have a CR1 petition pending.

He was very honest with the officer and we used the I130 petition in our favor.

He is a young male, we do not own property and we have middle class income and we still were  approved.

So I just wanted to say that it can be done and everyone who wants to apply for one should give it their best shot. It is surely worth the try.

In Spanish there is a saying:

"El peor intento es el que no se hace"

I do not want to discourage you but you are still playing with fire. The immigrant intent is clear, if it is discovered at the port of entry that he has a CR1 pending he will be sent back for sure.

  15. Or is it all over till next month.

I think we missed the boat and have to wait until mid December to get an interview date.

I noticed most interviews that people got this month for december where from the first till the middle of the month.I didnt see any towards the end of December.

Fingers crossed they arent done scheduling yet.

My case was completed on Nov 13th. I got my medical done by Nov 21st, but I would be suprised if scheduling for December still would be going on.

Could my son get his medical before the NVC give him an interview date.

You should find out from the Embassy's website or by calling them where he can take the medical. It should be valid for a year ( 6 months if certain medical conditons exist)
