    got SSN today

    today i got SSN in the mail :thumbs: i applied for it on monday and got it saturaday . now i have EAD from POE valid for 3 months and have SSN now . so now i will start to look for work . and inshaAllah we will send out AOS papers by june 1st :star:

    Today hubby applied for his Social Security Card. We got there around 9am and was done pretty shortly after that. The lady told him it will arrive within 10 days in the mail! We are so glad to be done with this part and now just waiting for the card to come so he can apply for work ! :dance:

    The first day we got an email saying the card was ordered was on May 6th, then the 2nd time was May 9th... then the email saying The Approval letter was mailed was May 13th, then yesterday May 14 hubbys EAD card was in the mail ! :dance:

    The CR1/IR1, K1 and K3 visas all come under the heading of family based visas. The CR1/IR1 visa is a permanent immigrant residency visa, and the K1 and K3 visas are non-immigrant visas. Those who file for a K1 (fiance visa) and claim to be married are not really married; they just like to say they are. With a K1, they must marry within 90 days of the entry and then adjust status. If you are married, you must file for a CR1/IR1 (that is I-130 petition) or K3 (I-130 & I-129F petitions).

    So let me get this straight, Mohamed. You went to the SS office, they said you can't apply, you went back with documentation proving them wrong, and at that time they let you apply....is that correct?

    yes we went to that office on thursday and he said i cant have my SSN cause i got married and no more fiancee visa i said WHAT!!!!!

    he said i need to get EAD first then come back to apply for SSN .

    THEN we went today holding papers show i can have it

    Mohamed, thats what happened to my husband. He came over on k-1 visa and we got married, and we had to wait for his EAD to come in first. Then we applied for his card and he got it, only it states on the card for work authorization only. Now that he has his green card, we have to go back and have that taken off.

    that was stupid . he could get his SSN but workers there dont know what they are doing or thier jobs
