N-400 November 2024 Filers

As I said, ‘my invite made no mention of guests’; it did not say whether they were allowed and it did not say they were not allowed. To be clear the word ‘guest’ or any of its synonyms do not appear in my Oath ceremony invite. Neither was there any other reference to a public gallery, viewing area or facility for non petitioners. With this in mind, my family knew they may have to wait in their cars should they not be allowed to observe, and it was their choice to accompany me. I try and ensure that I accommodate my family’s needs & wishes where I can, maybe that’s just me. In the end the ceremony was an open public affair, with no limits on guests, we even had a group of the high school kids observe from bleachers. -

My invite made no mention of guests, and I had 5 people come with me, no issues. They had a large seating area for guests. This was probably due to it being one of several ceremonies they hold outside of the courthouse, where they are usually conducted. -

Had my Oath ceremony yesterday, no issues, now a Citizen. Waited 1.5 months since my approval / invite, felt like a long time and in the current climate we were nervous as nothing is guaranteed until you take the Oath. I had a two week vacation back to the UK during the period between and this was noted when I attended but it was no big deal. Oath ceremony was held in a local high school, and was attended by lots of state and local city delegates including the state Adjunct General (head of the state’s National Guard) who made a speech. There were 60 of us, and the two federal judges who oversaw the proceedings came out swinging in their speeches, which brought me to tears. It was reassuring to see that whilst Ohio is a red state we have some people who recognise the importance of immigration in our national makeup. It was a beautiful ceremony and I feel very lucky to have been part of it. -

I would add onto this to clarify what I have seen others speak about when travelling between US<->UK as a dual citizen of both countries (this may apply to other countries). As a US citizen you must exit / enter using your US passport; so when you arrive at the US border control you hand your US passport over. As a British Citizen, when you arrive at the UK border, you should present your UK passport, so that you are admitted in as a UK citizen with no requirement for an ETA (electronic travel authorisation) and no restriction on your stay there, even if it is only temporary. You may need to ensure the Advance Passenger Information System (APIS) data is updated correctly before checking into your flights, i.e ensure that on the return flight to the US it is your US passport info that is entered, and on the outgoing flight to the UK you may need to ensure it is the UK passport info so that the airline do not assume you need a (UK) ETA. -

After your Oath Ceremony you get your Naturalisation Certificate which you can then use to apply for your Passport. In some cases there will be people from the relevant departments to allow you to apply for the passport in person at the ceremony, where you can queue up and apply; your mileage may vary. -

Got a notice at 2:45pm (interview was at 9am) that an action was taken on my case, and looking at USCIS portal the case is now in "Oath Ceremony Will Be Scheduled" status, so looks like the supervisor approved it this afternoon!, Very happy!! -

Interview today went well, no issues, but was given the 'a decision cannot be made yet about your application' notice, as I've been put forward to supervisory review, which I am not surprised about, was told 2-3 weeks for a decision, which will be mailed to me / posted to my USCIS account. -

Edited - found the answer below For those of you who have had notice of your Oath Ceremony, is this notice sent to you from USCIS and does it appear in your account documents? or does some other state related entity email / send a letter to you for the Oath ceremony? "USCIS will notify you by mail of the time and date of your ceremony. The notice USCIS sends you is called the “Notice of Naturalization Oath Ceremony” (Form N-445)." https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/document/guides/chapter5.pdf -

@Tella&T Wait a few hours to the end of the day, the interview letter should be available to download from the documents/notices section of your case / USCIS account. Mine took till the end of the day to be available. -
