They don’t let anybody look at the medical report so nobody would know what their report says. They hand you a photocopy of the vaccination page only.

The Technical Instructions for Panel Physicians says:

    Laboratory Testing

Random screening for drugs is not part of the routine medical examination for applicants for U.S. admission. The panel physician needs to evaluate the applicant’s history, behavior and physical appearance when determining if drug screening should be performed.

Whole populations of applicants should not be routinely subject to random laboratory screening. The panel physician should make an individual decision based on the indications for drug screening. (See Table 1)

You can read that whole page here https://www.cdc.gov/immigrantrefugeehealth/panel-physicians/mental-health.html

Note also found on that page—

    Mental Health Examination

    • Observation alone is not sufficient to assess an applicant.
    • Random screening for drugs is not part of the routine medical evaluation of applicants for U.S. admission.
    • If the panel physician is unable to determine whether an applicant has a diagnosis of a physical or mental disorder, or substance abuse or dependence for a substance listed in Section 202 of the Controlled Substances Act, diagnosis and classification may be deferred in order to obtain additional medical evidence.
    • Record DSM diagnoses for mental disorders on the DS-3026 under Section 5, Remarks.

You will fill out a questionnaire you take in and another upon arrival that will ask you about your history of substance use. They will review your police report for any substance related issues. And they will definitely ask you multiple time while chatting during the exam about substance abuse. Even if you indicate “oh I tried marijuana just one time on my birthday 15 years ago”, you will be screened for drugs at Visa Medicals in London (no longer named Knightsbridge Doctors).

Thank you for this, I appreciate your response and all of your help! I saw another post mentioning a user who got copies of everything they tested for/screened for in addition to the sealed envelope, but that was in the US so maybe those policies are a bit different. That's why I was second guessing myself on what I read with the conflicting information haha.

So I'm gathering they routinely do not test for them, unless there is suspicion from behavioral/situational responses with the candidate, the police report has a record of drug use, or there is a mention of previous drug use in the past? Thanks again

  2. Does anyone know if drug tests are normally done when they take your urine/bloods? I saw conflicting posts about this and was looking for some more recent information. Has anyone thats been to Knightsbridge recently looked over a copy of their medical report and seen if they've been tested? I saw a few posts mentioning they only test if you admit to previous drug use. Specifically worried about THC.

    Thanks

    Congratulations!!!!!!

Congrats guys!! So just clarifying, does this mean that you've had your interview and were waiting for the actual green card to get processed? What does it mean exactly to be issued? Thanks and congratulations again! :)

Under normal circumstances interview appointment emails tend to come out on the 1st or 2nd Thursday/Friday of the month, but with the pandemic, lockdowns, change of govt in USA, things are off kilter this month so we have to just wait and see what happens, but the Embassy is open, they are currently still interviewing so hopefully any day now. We DQ'd on Oct 8th and in the last round of interviews appointments were emailed to couples who DQ'd from 17th Aug to 2nd Oct, so we're fairly high up the queue and promise we'll post here as soon as we get any appointment news.

Thank you so much! I appreciate this so much :) Fingers crossed for you

  8. Hi everyone,

Hopefully doing this right as I'm new to VJ but just wanted to say how thankful I am for this post/site. I spent the last hour or so stalking all the different comments from the last few months and it has honestly made me feel a lot better. Immigration issues are stressful enough with countless delays, lack of communication, mistakes/compliance issues, separation from our SOs, and the financial burden of it all. On top of that add in a global pandemic, lockdowns in all of our home countries, unemployment, and other countless issues. Needless to say this is not an easy time for any of us and it is hard for people not in the situation to understand stressed and helpless I feel at times. Finding this community has really helped. 🤗

That being said, my DQ is December 21.
I'll be checking for all of your updates but I am so glad and thankful that the US Embassy in London is operating despite of the lockdowns and I'm hoping for an interview in March or April?! Fingers crossed.
