  1. *UPDATE* So I tried MANY times to get a hold of an agent to figure this out and it was near IMPOSSIBLE with their automated system hanging up on you if you keep requesting to talk to an agent or forces you to a solution that isn't useful.

HOWEVER, I eventually got a hold of an agent (process outlined below) and they said it is in fact an error and that there have been a number of these types of errors.  People show up for the interview and they turn them away saying it was an error. They said to ignore it and to not show up for the interview.

This process was extremely frustrating and annoying for us.  They make an error, and they make it impossible to find a solution.  There's no solution online, there's no solution over the phone, there's no notice sent out, there's no option to contact them regarding this type of issue. In the end, I was able to get a hold of a representative by lying about my purpose for calling.

IF YOU NEED TO GET A HOLD OF AN AGENT, it looks like the only way at this point is to say "request an appointment" when the prompt asks why you're calling.  Even if you're not requesting an appointment or your inquiry is totally unrelated, this method will get you to an agent.

    Good luck everyone!

  2. We had our I571 interview back in January and were really stressed after receiving the notice saying that our case was being held for review, but after a few days, our case status changed to "New Card Being Produced" and after a few weeks, my wife received her 10year permanent residence green card.  But a few days ago, we received ANOTHER notice saying that we are scheduled for our initial I751 interview in April! The notice date is months after we received the green card so I'm not sure what the heck is going on.  We already had this interview and we already received our green card??? Is this a mistake?? I'm going to call USCIS on Monday, obviously, to try and get to the bottom of it, but has anyone run into this??

  3. *UPDATE*

After our I571 interview and after getting approved and AFTER receiving her 10year permanent resident green card, we recently got ANOTHER letter in the mail scheduling us for our I571 interview.  The notice date is months after we received the green card so I'm not sure what the heck is going on.  When checking on USCIS website for case status, it went from "New card is being produced" on January 13, 2021, to "Interview Was Scheduled".  But we already had this interview and we already received our green card??? Is this a mistake?? I'm going to call USCIS on Monday, obviously, to try and get to the bottom of it, but has anyone run into this??

  4. Mine was in Manhattan, NY. Overall, I’ve had poor experiences with immigration staff. Similar to what you see at the DMV. People who feel empowered and entitled to their job and really mistreat others as if they’re beneath them. I know, not all and most aren’t like that. But the ones you meet in NY and especially at JFK airport are like that. The kind of behavior and attitude you don’t see in other countries.

Question,  did you did Adjustment of Status in the US or you did the consulate processing. In order words, did u came in with an immigrant visa to the US or u got the Green card in the US. Just curious,  saw few people who did their adjustment of status interview in the US and their ROC interview was waived?

She came using the fiancee visa and we did adjustment to marriage visa.

  6. Our original I-751 interview was April of 2019 before COVID had it delayed.  We called USCIS after we hadn't heard for a while (there's a timeframe on the website where they say for you to contact them if yours has passed) and they told us to keep waiting but that we can get a travel stamp for my wife to travel as she pleased since her original green card had since expired due to the delay.  We got the notice for our I-751 interview about a month ago. Where along in the process are you? Just waiting for your I-751 interview date to be scheduled?

  7. Just had our I-751 interview and had to deal with a super rude and impolite immigration officer. He spoke to my spouse (beneficiary) completely and wouldn't give me an opportunity to even speak. He barely looked at our documents and photos that we brought and asked only for the 2019 1040 document for the 2019 tax return.  Unfortunately, I only brought the W2 for this year and the 1040 for prior years.  For some reason, it's the only document I forgot to bring.  He then gave us the form that said our case is being held for review (there is an option stating it was approved, but the one that was checked off was the one stating it's being held).  I asked if he wanted to see everything else we brought and he said no, gave it all back to us, and that was it. I felt he was making a decision solely based on that one missing document. It wasn't conversational, he didn't ask any familial or personal questions, he didn't ask us anything at all except background information like name, dob, address, etc. and then that was it.

Anyone have experiences like this?  Had to deal with an impolite and uncooperative immigration officer for their I-751 interview?

    Thanks!
