  1. Yeah I just used the calculator on their site (http://www.uscis.gov/forms/filing-calculator-for-form-i-751-filing-jointly-with-your-spouse) and the first day of the filing window falls on a Friday. So I've been supposing if I send it Friday afternoon they will probably receive it earliest by Monday, I get the point having a cushion though. The only reason I want to send it asap is because I've started collecting evidence, letters, and I don't want the dates on the evidence to be too old. E.g. I have a letter already that would be dated 2 weeks before I send the application. Though I also don't want to be collecting evidence at the last minute.
  2. Oh interesting , so it's not good to send it the first day the window opens? Why would it get rejected? As for the delay yeah could be a couple weeks, given nothing else comes up when filing.
  3. So the window to apply is coming up pretty soon and at the same time we are almost ready to file taxes as well. The problem is to finish this year's taxes I need a document from my previous company which may arrive some days or even week after the window to apply is open. Of course we are including last year's tax returns in the I-751 packet along with bunch of other financial evidence, but do you think it's worth applying a little later but having the second tax return also ready to go? We do want to send the packet the day the window opens. tl:dr worth to delay applying for I-751 (within allowed window of course) for including second joint tax return? thank you!
  4. I know a common piece of evidence for living together is a lease agreement with names of both spouses or mortgage statement with both names. In my case, I owned the home before we got married, having the mortgage be in our names would require refinance and all sorts of bureaucratic headaches. Would it be fine if I got a letter from the HOA which states that we are both registered to live at my residence? (you have to submit application / register with HOA if a new resident comes to live) Of course beside this, there's bunch of other evidence showing my wife's address being here including bank statements, driver licenses, wife's W2, health insurance and medical bills, etc. Thank you in advance.
  5. Where should I put the ATTN? In the contact name and USCIS as Company? Or should ATTN go in Address 2 field and USCIS as Contact Name? Just want to make sure, thanks! (I'm using Fedex and creating label online).
  6. Oh yes will send for entire duration of marriage
  7. Hello everyone, we are going to be filing i-751 in roughly a month and wanted to get any feedback on the current evidence packet I'm planning to send: Birth Certificate of our child born during our marriage Statement from our HOA confirming joint residency Bank Statement confirming Joint Account Details and also statements showing both our direct deposits going into account Joint CD Account Savings, 401K, Life Insurance beneficiary set as my wife 2022 tax year joint return , 2023 will either be filed or still in progress Car Insurance with our names and our driving licenses with same address Credit Card Transactions from two joint cards that we have Affidavit Letter from our priest who married us and has known us ever since my wife arrived in the US (we are active in the church community and my wife volunteers there). Contemplating another such letter from a friend who has known us. Family Medical Insurance showing our names (me, wife, son) ; also medical statements / bills for my wife to our address Some photos from our trips together ; photos with family and friends ; plane tickets together Cell Phone bill for both of us Perhaps there may be a few other items to add if they come to our mind. Some things have been in my name before we married (e.g. I bought a car / apartment before our marriage). thanks!
  8. I fear what the wait will be for us when we apply early next year. The AOS was surprisingly quick for us. But I guess with 48 month extension and the fact you can apply for naturalization 1 year later, it's not the end of the world, just a pain, might as well had AOS result in 3 year GC then naturalization.
  9. For countries that allow people to enter who are US permanent residents (e.g. Canada), does anyone have experience entering with such a expired green card + extension letter? Does it pass?
  10. so apparently the "Named Insured" is only my name but even though her name is not there, she is still covered because of how the policy works. I have to somehow get a document from insurance agent to list the actual drivers covered. This is just so moronic, why don't they put all the drivers covered on the insurance card or on some document. If the cop pulls her over, how does the cop know she's covered when it's just my name under "named insured". State Farm is absolute garbage!!!!
  11. You would think adding your wife to car insurance is easy, but I've been dealing with the incompetent car insurance and they still can't add her to my car insurance! they say she's added but they send car insurance card with only my name. What can I do when there is so much incompetency. Yes I want her to be on my car insurance, but it seems these insurance companies have some severe IQ issues and cannot do it!!!
  12. Thank you this is useful. I can also provide a letter from our condominium association confirming that both of us have lived at said address. I'm not sure how to get my wife's name on electric statement but I can try if that will make a big difference.
  13. The algorithms can vary greatly, currently my car insurance is really high given the area where we live and adding young new driver usually doesn't help
  14. She's a new driver yes, and I live in a state with very high car insurance rate, that's why I've been hesitant unless she starts driving.
  15. Hmm, interesting, I look into that then, if my rate doesn't jump crazy I'll add her.
  16. Yeah we have many photos like that with my family and such that's not an issue.
  17. My wife had a bad experience with driving and doesn't want to drive anymore. Why should I pay extra for insurance? I don't think it's an unreasonable situation. Got it, I forgot there was a 401K beneficiary option, I'll make sure to set that, thanks.
  18. Yes we have our phone bill together. Yes we have medical bills together, and the same card we buy many things together (she has her own card, same number). We also have tickets together to events, trips, hotels, and so forth.
  19. I didn't add her to car insurance because she doesn't drive at all and didn't think it made sense to pay much higher to have her added, though I can add her if it will be an issue. I can easily change the life insurance beneficiary.
  20. I have quite a bit, but it seems the fact I acquired my home before my marriages and not during is a red flag since are both names are not on it? We do have joint bank accounts, credit card, trips together, our insurances together, addresses of driver license and medical bills together, but there's a few things only in my name simply because I acquired it before marriage. Just want to plan for these things.
