  1. I didn't think about the state returns because the Federal forms have my earnings and I am guessing that is what they are concerned with. I gave her my last 3 years along with W-2's for the last 3 years. My ITR is about 50 pages long, so I only sent the first few pages because that is where the important info is and I doubt anyone will be going over my itemized deductions with a fine tooth comb in Manila.

  2. I work for a the State of California, so i just had my supervisor sign my letter because I don't even know who I would ask for the letter, maybe Arnold. Plus, the way our government works with the red tape, it would probably take 6 months before I saw the letter. I have not read anything about people getting denied or questions about the letter during interview experience, so I doubt they put alot of weight into the letter. Your W-2's show the tale of tape on how much cash you bring in each year.

  3. When you call the NVC, it gets very frustrating because of their phone system. I found it best to call just before they close. However, I did get through around 10pm EST. Good luck to you, very exciting after your case hits the NVC because you've got more movement after a long wait and begin to find new stuff to look forward to. I suggest to begin to get all your paperwork together wiht I-134 because making sure it is correct can take a bit leg work on the USC's part.

  4. If your going to purchase a ticket before you she has the Visa in hand, I would make sure you get the protection service so you can change if need be. It should take 3 business days to receive from i read, but nothing is concrete.

Where are the good deals for airline tix from PI? Let us know.

  5. I really think the new change is revenue based because you have to pay $18 with your credit card just to get connected through the call center. I'm sure they will the call center is to limit the amount of phone traffic. So if you really have a true question, then you better fork over the 18 bucks to talk to a live person to get an answer. I would ask on here first. And if you call the free line to the Manila embassy, it will tell you use the call center number, what a joke. I'm guessing they are not slotting dates to the folks because they want you to pay to the call center. On that note, I will be more than happy to cough up my 18 bones to get an interview on the 14th, I mean the 13th about 4pm.

  6. Congrats Mox- how long does it take before you get your interview date and interview? Let's hear a guess. We all love to obcess over numbers and dates. My first guess after getting approved was an interview the beginning of April, but I don't think we'll hit my target date. Eric found some good info regarding USEM interview process. Now, we have to call in on the 14th of every month and schedule an interview. Sounds strange and I don't know how long it will last. Here's the kicker, in order to call the Philippines call center to schedule an interview, there is an $18 fee to use the service. Now I don't care much about the money because in reality it's not alot, but I wish they would allow us to schedule the interview as soon as they receive from NVC because now it will become a first come first ordeal when calling This is the new rules for the Manila embassy starting this month. I'm sure the fee will deter folks from just calling in to ask stupid questions and increase revenue. As a side note, my last ditch effort to get an early April interview date was made yesterday with a hardship request because of a possible deployment which occurs 5-6 times per year, but since it's only possible with no specific dates, plus I had no paperwork to back up my claims. We'll see what happens, either way, I am still very happy to be at this point of the process.

And for any PI filers, be sure to read Eric's post on these rules for the interview process.

  7. Thanks for the info Eric. I just sent out my request for early appointment via there form because once the April comes around with my job, I could be deployed anywhere in the state when things happen. I doubt they will accept because they dont understand how things works over here, even though I explained clearly the circumstances of our case and the problems that could occur.

  8. I would just say August of whatever year it was. I doubt if they will ask the exact day and time, however, if they do, just be honest and tell them around or lie and give a specific date. They have no way of knowing what day you actually met. Just don't be nervous that you will be denied because you can't remember a day or date from last year or 2 ago. You will do fine. Good luck.
