  1. I have to send another DS-230 for my wife because of some biographic data I carelessly left on line #30 of the DS-230 form. My question is, if I send this in after April 15, am I going to require 2009's tax returns also? I am on the last stretch here before it goes to Manila. Everything else was alright on the original visa application except for my wife's biographic residence. I have the revised application ready to send next week.

    thanks,

    martinbr

  2. (30. List below all places you have lived for at least six months since reaching the age of 16, including places in your country of nationality. )

Can someone clear this up for me? I got a reject for my wife's ds-230 application on line 30. I misunderstood the question. My wife has lived in two places in the same province since she reached the age of 16 like they want on the application.

Do you put the most current address first from time to present, or the earliest? So my wife was born in 1975. I was told to add 16 years on that and start from the year 1991 wherever she resided. Does this make sense? Anyone had trouble with this? I guess this is a common error, because the person at the NVC mentioned that a lot of people missed this or misunderstood it entirely.

    thanks,

  3. Well, I got my first reject when sending in my wife's visa application. I forgot to fill out line 30 which is supposed to show where she lived from 16 yrs old and on. I thought I checked everything over very carefully, but I missed this section all together.

I also forgot to make a copy of it for myself. Now I have to start all over again. I filled out all the other forms on Adobe Acrobat, but this one I did with my wife by hand when I was seeing her in the philippines last August so she could sign the application.

So this time I am going to type it all out on Adobe, and send it to my wife email. She can print it out and send it directly to NVC.

I am nervous about this sense she is not very computer savvy, but it would take too long by mail.

Anyone else run into this problem? What are you using for forms? Visa Pro? The only thing I am not sure about Visa Pro forms are that they print out the sections in dark blue. Would the NVC accept this, or should I just download the forms from the NVC website?

    thanks,

  4. Wow!, I'm kind of blown away for all the responses here. It just confirms that VJ is the place for me to come to to get some support and some answers to this long trying immigration process that started 2 1/2 years ago.

Yes, it's been a long haul, but I am seeing light at the end ot the tunnel. I just sent in my DS-230 papers to NVC. Hopefully there will be no rejects in the process and they can move them to the embassy in Manila.

Some have wondered why it's been taking so long for me to get my wife here. It hasn't been easy. I had some major setbacks when I started this. To be honest, if I would have known it was going to be this hard I might not have gotten involved with a long distance realationship. Add a nasty divorce right before I got married, put this immigration on hold for time back in 2008. My ex was sucking a ton of money out of my paycheck. Then the recession kicked in. I started to question if it was even realistic for me to even bring her to the U.S. But I fell in love with my wife and that's just the way it is. As they say, love has no boundries. I just went back in August of last year to see my wife and daughter for the first time since we got married. It was a very emotional moment for me and my wife. I had a great time. With the papers being sent to NVC, now I wait..

Don't let family and friends who are against your relationship get the better of you but don't push the issue with them either. Just work on your wife's visa process quietly. I'm sure that once they meet your wife, they would learn to accept your decision.

I am putting this on VJ in hopes if anyone has gone thru this. I have been married for 2 1/2 years now to my wife in which I love very much. I got married in 11/07 in the philippines. But when I discuss this with my brother or friends, they are under the assumption that it is not a real marriage since It was done overseas. Well I know this is BS. It's computed in the NSO that we are husband and wife just as if we got married in the U.S.

We have a all the documents to prove this. But when I get excited about talking about my wife and the process of getting here here with me, I get a lot of silence. I think in a lot of peoples eyes, it looks like I was desperate to find someone and that I just went on line and got a mail order bride. It just doesn't sit well with me.

I know this shouldn't bother me because there is more diversity today in interracial realationships more than ever. Especially where I live in the S.F. bay area in CA. Every where I turn, I am seeing more asian woman with american men. But it is getting old to not have any support from family and friends. I am getting the vibe that most of them think it's a bad idea to bring my wife to the U.S. This has been very stressful and a very long journey for us as you can see by my timeline.

I just sent the DS-230 packet out to the NVC. If this gets approved, it's off to the embassy. I have tried to delay this journey as long as possible due to the things that were going on my side with me losing my job, ex-wifes, and this nasty recession. My wife has been very patient with me and is willing to wait until I got things together.

Just wanted to see if anyone else has gone thru this,

  8. Custody Documentation

In support of the Immigrant Visa Petition for Alien Relative, the adoptive parent and/or petitioner must provide:

    A certified copy of the adoption decree;

    The legal custody decree; if custody occurred before the adoption;

A statement showing dates and places where child resided with the parents; and

If the child was adopted while aged 16 or 17 years, evidence that the child was adopted together with, or subsequent to the adoption of, a natural sibling under age 16 by the same adoptive parent(s).

Can someone help me with this? I am confused. My wife has a child who is 12 years old. Do we need some type of clearance documentation for the child as well as stated on the NVC web page under civil documents? This is her natural child, not a adopted child.

    thanks,

    martinbr

  9. Umm, I am screwed up here. I have been doing some searching for this and came up with something I think I forgot for my wife to send. My wife has no criminal record, but from the NVC site it looks like she has to have a police clearance document as well, or is this just for someone that has a criminal record? It sounds like she needs to have a copy from her home town regardless. I missed this step since I just took for granted it was for someone with a record. Is this a NBI clearance?

So if that is the case, I will just have my wife go get one next week and send some more passport photos @ the required size that NVC wants.

    martinbr

NBI clearance will suffice all the police clearance requirements in the Philippines. And if ever she worked/stayed abroad for more than 6 months then she should also obtain police clearance certificate of that country. Police clearance is required regardless if she has a criminal record or not.

Thank you, I guess it's going to take a little more time. I thought I had it all together here,

but better finding out now instead of getting rejected.

  11. You know, I don't get this. I have copies of her passport biographics info, and the photos are exactly the same size 2"X1 1/2". So I don't understand why they would discount these photos. I think I am going to take a chance and send them in with the other papers and in the meantime have her go get some more at 2X2 photos just to play it on the safe side in case they get rejected.

You can tell by my timeline that this is going on 3 years for this process. Also, when I sent the photos for the I-130 applications, they were 2" X 1 1/2". And they accepted them. But that's another dept. Well, we will see.....

    thanks,

  12. I am ready to send in two ds-230 applications for my wife and her daughter. I asked her to send two sets of passport regulation size photos and she sent over the photos that measure 2 inches in height and 1 1/2 inches in width.

The NVC guidlines state they should be 2 inches by 2 inches. Is this going to be a problem? It was a major hassle getting these photos sent from the philppines. Other than them being a half inch short in width everything else is in regulation.

    thanks,

  13. [if you can't afford plane trips, SLEC fees and accomodations which aren't much. How can you support them when they get to the US?

This isn't what I asked. I didn't ask for a judgement on my financial status. I asked a question about the child being at the interview. Why is there some person in these forums that has to respond with some kind of negative garble to make a point everytime I have a ligitimate question?

  14. Can someone tell me if the my wife's child has to be at the interview? The child is being petitioned as well as her mother. I am at the stage of paying for the Visa fees. I know it's a little ways off, but I am trying to get a idea for money. My wife lives down in the Visayas in the philippines and this could get costly with going back and forth for two people to Manila. Especially since they both have to go get a medical exam first. So two plane tickets times 4 could run into some money for me.

  16. Hello, I just sent in my AOS papers for qualifing my income for 2008. But I am taking my time on paying for the fees due to recession here in the U.S. I have been told that i have up to a year before I go to the next phase.

I am going in a few weeks over to see my wife in the philippines. It's been almost two years since I have seen her. Plus I want to talk to her about the next phase whether this is a good time to continue the process or drag it on a little till things pick up here. I am pretty scared about bringing her over right now since I am barely making myself. To be honest, I don't even know if it's realistic at this point since I only make around $300.00 per week due to a ex-wife sucking a large portion of my paycheck out for at least another year until kid turns 18 yrs old next July.

So, since I qualified for 2008 on my taxes, over a period of time if I don't do this pretty soon, I imagine they might want some current paystubs. Is this correct?

    thanks,

  18. Do I make a copy for my wife and make copies of tax returns and supporting docs to each case? Or is it just one set for both of them since the daughter is listed on the i-864 to be brought over with the mother at the same time?

    thanks,

    martinbr

If they are both coming over at the same time, you only need one I-864.

So then I just attach both of the bar coded packet sheets to the front of the I-864?

    National Visa Center

    BARCODE SHEET

You MUST RETURN THIS PAGE with your

completed I-864 and supporting documents to:

    National Visa Center

    ATTN: CMR

    32 Rochester Avenue

    Portsmouth, NH 03801-2909

    * Failure to return this page will delay processing of your

    case.

    * Please attach this Barcode Sheet to the front of your

    documents for this case only.

    * If you are sending information for other cases in the same

envelope you must attach the appropriate Barcode Sheet

    to the top of the

documents for each individual case included.

  19. Hello, I am ready to send in my affidavit of support documents and am a little confused on whether I should make one out for my wife and another one for her daughter. Her daugther is 12 yrs old. I am receiving everything by email.

Do I make a copy for my wife and make copies of tax returns and supporting docs to each case? Or is it just one set for both of them since the daughter is listed on the i-864 to be brought over with the mother at the same time?

  20. I'm not sure what your are required to do in terms of your 2008 taxes since you filed jointly for 2007. If you filed jointly for 2007 you should have received an ITIN for your wife.

In terms of proof of your tax returns. Call the IRS and request tax return transcripts for the last 3 years. They can mail them to you or fax them to you.

    Good Luck!!!

I have transcripts on the way. But that is going to take a week or two. I really wanted to get this done by the next few days. So I was thinking about just sending out 2008. From what I have read in the instructions is that they are only asking for the most current year. Is three years of taxes recommended or is it madatory?

    martinbr

Please scratch this thread. I got my answer from the NVC. I just need to send current.
