  1. wishing you all the best...on the child case did you send in i-864 or i-864w....and if i-864w,in part 3(I..............certify under penalty

of perjury under the laws of the United States that:) do they need the name of the child or the petitioner.thanks

I sent i-864, but I might take it out of the packet. I had a friend that married from Manila, and he suggested that I take it out of the main folder and put in a misc. folder for her to hold in case they ask. They dindn't even ask him. I think they just want to make sure all the papers are the same that the NVC sent. The reason being is that they go by what the NVC sends to embassy. My income for 2009 was considerably more due to a buyout that I had from my company before I got laid off. So I ammended my 2009 taxes along with 2008. Since this has been going on for 3 years, I might run into some questions. I am emailing my wife a updated i-864 to be printed out as well. I just keep praying things will work out.

  2. Just want to wish you both a successful interview. If she has trouble with English, then it would be best that she ask for an interpeter. Go over with her some of the possible questions that might be asked. Tell her to be confident and prepared. This is your last major hurdle to have them both with you! I wish you all the best!!

Thank you for your support. Everyone has been great here. I pray things will work out. And yes, it's finally becoming the end of this long journey I have been on. :)

  3. Leave it to the NVC to make it harder that it has to be. When my wife's appointment was in limbo with her childs, because her child had a appointment and the mother still did not have one due to re-submitting the ds-230. But when I asked the NVC why they weren't sending any interview letter for my wife, they said it was out of there hands and I had to talk to the embassy about it.

So today I get a letter mailed to my address after I sent all the necessary papers to my wife about a hour before I got the letter. So the only thing I can think of to do is to scan the letter, send it to my wife's email and have her print it out and add it to the papers when she recieves them next week. Because it has a bar code on it. It's not a appointment letter but a expidited letter so I don't know if the embassy is going to require it, but I don't want to take any chances.

I finally got both interview appointments confirmed on June 4th at 8:30am at the embassy. The embassy sent me email, so I printed that out and sent it with papers. But I still want her to have the expidited letter as well. So I think I will be ok,

On another note, I want to thank all the people who have helped me in this forum. I recieved a lot of support and it really helps make this whole journey a lot less stressful. I hope I can help someone else the way the people have helped me here.

    regards,

    Martin

  4. Its called CENOMAR if your not married yet. Its CEMAR if you married. but the NSO called it cenomar eventhough your married or not. I requested that. It show how many times i get married ,who is my parents,to whom i get married and when and where..

she can call the number I gave. That is NSO. they will deliver it to her address. It costs 430 pesos.

I sent a Cenomar with papers dated 2007 right before we got married which shows she was single and never married. If I have a certified marriage certificate. Wouldn't that be sufficient? I know you or someone mentioned that if she has a child out of wedlock which might raise suspicion which she has nothing to hide anyway because that's exactly what happened. I might just go down and get one of the updated NSO CEMARS in which you described though just to play it on the safe side. Thank you for your suggestions,

    martinbr

  5. So you are going with the I-864 you originally sent in and as it should be sufficient you are hoping they do not want to discuss your 2009 income/current employment.

Well, it's hard to say. The CO can ask for updated information at anytime and I would imagine that 'where do you work' or 'where does your SO work' is probably a pretty standard interview question.

    Good luck.

Here's the problem. This has been going on for almost 3 years. I have been delaying like crazy because of being laid off last July. Yes going on almost 9 months on unemployment. So when I called the NVC, I asked them whether I should ammend a 2009 tax return with the original 2008 I-864 return. They said it would be a good idea. So it's being sent to the embassy with other papers. It's too late now. So I am sending a copy of the 2008, 2009 transcripts along with a copy of the original I-864.

Whatever happens, happens. I am tired of worrying about it. I will deal with it if they want something else and have to rescedule a interview. I have done all I can. I have all my unemployment stubs that I could send but I don't think it would look to good, so I left them out. My 2009 return was around 47,000.00 so it's way over poverty level. It's just tough right now in the states, and have been looking for work like crazy with no luck. I'm 58 years old and that's another roadblock in looking for work where I live in the S.F. bay area. I had a favorable interview with company that I will check back next week to see where I stand. So I pray that everything is going to work out.

  6. hi, in my interview they didnt ask me about my husband tax or anything. they just ask for my emails, I.M, cards, phonecalls and non wedding and wedding pics. thats it. i made mistake because the DS230 form that I sent to NVC the part 2 that boxes need to be check i didnt check it but im glad that I brought a new DS230 with box checked so thats what they took to me. they didnt ask anything what we sent to NVC. but if you were worried then send it to them. send it to fedex it just takes 2 days.

You know, at this point all I can do is pray that things are going to work out. It has been a long hard three years of this immigration mess. The only thing that I forgot to do is make a copy of the original signed copy of my I-864. But I think they just want another copy showing that it is the same that was sent to NVC. Thanks for the tip on Fedex. I was going to use LBC, all they are is a middle man. They just throw the ball over to fedex or USPS for wherever it's going.

  7. I don't understand - if you submitted your 2009 tax returns with the initial submission, why would you have to send a modified one now?

Do you mean your 2008 returns?

Normally - they go by the most recent tax returns of the date you submit the paperwork, so you that should be sufficient.

However, they may inquire about "current" income/job - so you should be prepared to do so.

(here are the paticulars they do for the 864)

No, the NVC suggested that I send in 2009 tax returns and w-2 stubs because I had to re-submit my wife's ds-230 application because of something that I forgot to fill out. So this copy I imagine is goint out with the papers to the Embassy in Manila.

  8. My 2009 tax returns were submitted to NVC. I will be sending a copy of my 2009 tax returns along with necessary papers form my wife's interview on June 4th. Do I need to have a new modified I-864 along with my tax returns showing the income for 2009 on it? I read somewhere that the original i-864 sent to the NVC has a indifinite time limit on it.

My dilema is that although my income for 2009 was way above the poverty level, I am still unemployed. I have unemployment insurance coming in. But for what I get is below the poverty level. I really don't want to be sending in unemployment stubs. Might not look too good. Hoping to get a job soon.

Do you think this is going to be a issue at the Embassy? Do most times do they ask for pay stubs or is my original i-864 and current taxes going to stand up? I really don't have any family to sponsor also.

    martinbr

  9. I did this at the NVC, but should I mark all documents with case numbers for my wife and child for intial interview? Or should I just leave them they way there are without any case numbers on them?

Also, I have to get these papers out over the weekend to make sure that my wife gets them by around the 25th. What courier service would be the best. I have used LBC in the past which worked pretty good, although it takes about ten days to get to the philippines from U.S.A. I know most people use Fedex, and they deliver there, but I am little nervous about Fedex because they deliver straight to her address which is way out in a rural area and I am afraid something might happen to the papers. LBC has a center she could pick them up in the largest city where my wife lives.

    thanks,

    martinbr

  10. We recently moved in San Francisco, wondering if there are any pinays living in bay area. I know these cities has huge Fil-Am communities but I find it hard to talk to them. At least I want to meet Filipinas from this forum, any one?

Hi, I am in the process of getting my wife over from Bacolod City. I live in Pacifica, so we will be looking for something in the Pacifica, Daly City area. Hope to hear from you.

    take care,

    martinbr

  11. Hey martin, I can't help with those Q's but I just wanted to say I'm glad your wife received her interview. Best of luck to all of you ... :star:

Thanks for much for your support. This has been a trying experience for me. If she passes interview, I still have to manage to get enough money together for plane tickets, place to live, ect.. I have a major hurdle to overcome her. I pray every day that everyting is going to turn out alright.

  12. CENOMAR is only required for a K-1 visa applicant. What's your wife need for her interview is CEMAR (Certificate of Marriage).

Good luck on their upcoming interview.

That's what I don't understaned about Cenomar. I have a NSO copy of it which shows that she was never married before we got married, but a couple of people mentioned that I should send it in case they ask. I just don't want to confuse the embassy. So you are saying if we have the NSO marriage certificate were good to go?

  13. My wife and my stepchild are supposed to be in Manila on June 4th for there interviews. I would like to get a idea on what kind of questions they are asking. I went over the Wiki search engine for some answers, and if they start asking some of the questions on that list, my wife is in trouble. There is no way she is going to remember my ex-wife's name, where I worked and did for a living, what my daughter's name is, ect.. I had a very nasty divorce right before my new wife got married, so there wasn't a lot of talk about my ex-wife. My wife's english is not very good, and I think she should probably ask for a interpeter to assist her so she can better understand the questions. She will not be able to answer questions like, how much child support I have to pay, alimony, ect..

Also, the only proof that we have for our marriage is the phone bills that I saved with here phone number on it, wedding photos, and all the Western Union receipts that I have saved for money that I sent to her. Also one more thing, how about a cenomar? Why would I need that if she is married? I have NSO copies of marriage certificates and birth certificates.

Do I have something to worry about here? Are they really going to be asking all these questions?

    thanks,

    martinbr

  14. You can check out this link:

    http://manila.usembassy.gov/wwwh3230.html

You can find here how to contact the immigrant visa unit by email. It's what we used to send them email and everything was fine.

Thank you. I must have overlooked that part of there information on there website. I emailed requesting to have them both lined up. But I have another question? Did they contact you by phone or email to let you know when to be there? My wife did not get a generated appointment letter because I had to re-submit her application and her daughters was already scheduled.

    thanks,

    martinbr

  15. I received notice from the NVC that my stepchild has a interview date June 4th at the Manila Embassy. My wife doesn't have a date yet because I got a RFE on her application and had to re-submit hers. My wife's papers are approved now and the NVC expedited the papers to Manila. I called last night and they have the papers, but told me that I would have to send a email request to have the mother's interview as the same as her daughters. Are you following me?

So emailed the embassy using the link that they specified on the main page website, and it gets bounced back that only government agencies can email thru that link. This is the address.

<ConsIVManila@state.gov> I am getting nervous since my wife lives 600 miles south of Manila and has to leave on around May 25th to go get medical exams and a place to stay if something goes wrong. I cannot be there with her.

If I don't here anything in two weeks, I guess I am going to have to cancel and reschedule the daughters interview to line up with the mothers. And they said that they will contact my wife directly. Will they do that through her email or her cell phone? Anyone else been in this predicament?

    thanks,

    martinbr

  16. there is a 'pay per use' telephone # for Manila - most issues (such as yours) can be INITIATED with that call-center - do you have that # handy? it's buried in the Phillipines forum, if you have some time to look around today...

I called directly to Manila to the visa section and was instructed to send a email with the body containing my wife's information requesting to have a interview appointment on the same date and time. But the email bounced back from this email address. <ConsIVManila@state.gov>. It stated that only government agencies could use this address.

I guess I am going to have to call them again. The 'pay per use' number that you gave me is going to just tell me the same thing I would imagine. I called the NVC and they said that it is out of the hands now because the documents have already been sent up to Manila. They said that they will contact my wife directly. This is bad. My wife's phone is not always on. I have to see if they contact her thru email instead.

  17. I have a dilemma here. My wife's daughter is scheduled for a interview on June 4th 8:30am at the Manila Embassy, but I had to resend her mother's visa application in again because of something that I overlooked on here application. My wife's application has been approved and her case has been expidited to the embassy. But the NVC did not generate a appointment letter for her. I called the NVC to see if my wife's date is on the same date and time as my stepdchild, but they told me I have to get a hold of the embassy to see if I can get my wife scheduled at the same time. How can my stepchild be interviewed if her mothers's interview date is on another day? Doesn't my wife need a generated appontment letter to get in for a interview?

I called the embassy and they said that I have to request to have my wifes' appointment be as the same time as her daughter by email. This is the email address that I used. Consivmanila@state.gov. Is this the correct address? It bounced back that only U.S. government agencies can send thru this address.

I really DO NOT want to send my wife who lives 600 miles away up to Manila if the interview dates are not on the same day. I already sent a email to the NVC before the papers got shipped to Manila so maybe it's just not in the embassy's computers yet to be seen. Anyone else been thru this and maybe give me some suggestions on what to do?

    thanks,

    martinbr

  18. If they arent done with the review and you want to have the interviews on the same day, just call the embassy in manila. I used the $18 pin number, (check out the packet 3 info on the embassy's website) but you can try to get through on the other numbers. I am sure they will accommodate you with same day interviews.

Did the NVC approve your affidavit of support? I am assuming you had a co-sponsor or did you lose your job after the affidavit of support (I-864)? If you dont already have a co-sponsor, you might want to get one lined up and send an updated AOS to your wife before the interview just in case. They didnt ask for my 2009 taxes when my wife did her interview on 15 april, but I did send the 1040 to her (I filled out the AOS in feb so 2009 taxes werent applicable).

Yes, I was working at the time I sent the I-864 in with a letter from employer. I reall don't know if the letter made any difference, but I sent it in anyway. My 2009 taxes were well over the poverty level. I really don't have anyone that I can use as a joint sponsor. I really don't want to go down that road if I can help it. So from what I understand is that my wife on the day of the interview along with all the supporting documents should bring a copy of my current tax forms for 2009 and hopefully they won't ask for bank accounts since I don't put much money in them because of my ex-wife.

It wont matter that you arent able to go to the interview with your wife. Just make sure she has plenty of evidence of an ongoing relationship. they do ask for it. My wife gave them like 5 cards and a small photo album during the interview. I had our skype call log printed along with my phone bills and the past 2 months of bank statements where she was withdrawing money out of an ATM in the PI.

I have a ton of phone bills to show all the calls I have made. And proof that I was there last August for a month. Lots of photos, ect..

I am just worried about my wifes' visa application review right now. I hope they get this done by May.

Best of luck you and your wife! Keep the faith, everything will fall into place.

Thank you for your support. It's been a long haul...

  19. Hello everyone, I just recieved notice from NVC about my wife and step child's visa appointment at the Embassy on June 4, 2010. I am getting nervous, since this is only a little over a month away. The weird part is that they sent out the cover notice for my step daughter first. When I called the NVC they said that my wife's visa application is still under review since I had to resend at back on 04/15 because of something that I forgot to fill out.

Now this is making me nervous since the appointment is not that far off. What if they don't get the reviewing process done on my wife's app or even worse, what if they schedule for another day at the embassy than what her daughter is scheduled for? What is the best way to contact the embassy if I have to re-schedule her for another appointment.

Also, I am still out of work. I have been collecting unemployment but still do not have a job. I have a couple interviews coming up but nothing guaranteed. Will they ask for current pay stubs? I just sent in my 2009 taxes which I qualifed easily for the last three years.

Man, I tell you this has been a major strain on myself and my wife. It's going on three years for this journey to get her and my step child over here. I just want this thing to be done.

Also, most likely will not be able to be with her at the interview. I just don't have the funds to fly to Manila. Honestly, I think something is going to get fouled up here. It will be a miracle if this all comes in to place. I pray each day. I just want to be with my wife. I had some major set backs along the way, divorce, recession, jobs, ect.. in which was totaly out of my control. Well, most of it anyway. So I pray....

  20. Well here we go again. After trying to be as careful as I can on resending a modified DS-230 application for my wife, I find out that I sent it to the right address at the NVC, but the wrong zipcode!! I looked at the bar coded cover letter instead of double checking online and put the last digit wrong on the zipcode. So they rejected the delivery. Now I have to wait for the documents to be resent to me. I guess that's how it works. I have to go down to the post office on Mon to talk to someone and see what the process is.

Anyone else done this and what procedure did they follow to try to get there documents back as soon as possible. I really don't want to ask my wife to go down to a internet cafe again to have it printed out and sent to me again. I would just like to get the documents back and resend it.

    thanks,

    martinbr

  21. It is not the end of the world.

Maybe she can take the 2009 returns with her when she walks in for the interview?

    Call and ask them!

If you don't send your 2009 returns now in the worst case you get an RFE for the 2009 returns. Send it in then!

Is 24 days really such a big deal?

No, it's not a big deal. Take a look at the timeline. What's another 24 days. Futhurmore, I have been taking my time because of the shape of the U.S. right now. I live in the S.F. bay area which has one of the highest unemployment rates. But I still qualify on my taxes.

    martinbr

  22. My mistake, I meant 2009.

You can't send a return for 2010 yet....we are still in 2010 and taxes for this year are not due until April 15, 2011. Many people have filed their tax returns for 2009 already. I guess you are one of those who waits until the last possible moment? Considering that you are in this process, I'm surprised that you didn't file earlier. Personally, I would send the 2009 return and be prepared to be asked about it at the Embassy. (Otherwise they are looking at your 2008 return.) Why did you wait so long? I was told that each RFE adds about 24 days to the processing time. :crying:

    Best Wishes,

    Franc

PS It's not a "visa application"... it is a Petition.
