I GOT AN RFE!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can you believe this ######???? :crying::crying::crying:

How long is this going to postpone things?????

Hang on Steph it might be something very fixable....easily.........with Byron it was only a week or so........so have hope

I have a feeling they may ask for a copy of Darren's divorce papers. At the time of application we didn't have the official court documents, just a letter from the court. We have them now though. That is the only thing I can think of.

I suspect you are right Steph abou the the decree absolute. Do you have an original of the document? Cos the thing with the UK doc is that its so nondescript.

Just be prepared to overnight the RFE docs backs to VSC as soon as you get their request. Make sure on the outside of the envelope that you mark it "RFE" in RED letters. That helps it to get routed propery once it is received at VSC.

Good luck Steph! I hope this won't hold you up too much longer.

Do they need the original? I will probably get that by week's end. I do have a copy now though. thanks for the insight of how to mail!!! phew...

Did you get an RFE? Did it work fast for you?

No, I didn't get an RFE. I sent in originals of pretty much everything cos I didn't want to risk an RFE. It was worth the investment to get duplicate originals of all legal documentation. For me, I was meticulous about everything I submitted since we'd had to wait over a year to file while divorces were battled out in the courts.

However, I have research this sight for well over a year and have seen and heard just about everything! I'm not sure if they'll want an original Decree Absolute from you. The RFE will tell you for sure. To err on the side of caution, I'd have your fiance post an original to you. He can get a replacement for free for himself by calling the court - that's what my fiance did.

Timewise, like someone else pointed out - Lora I think - RFE turn around can be pretty swift, like Byron, or a long time like Mel & Syl. I hope yours won't take long! Those of you with RFEs having been waiting long enough!!!

God, I hope mine goes as quick as Byron's does. I don't think I could take it.

  5. This morning I overslept, and one of the first things I thought was...

USCIS just doesn't understand my need for a reliable alarm person to shove me out of bed.

    Maybe tomorrow. Or whenever.

I know this is hard for everyone that has had to wait soo much. RIC I cant believe yours has gone so late as well as Loras, and some others....My thoughts are with u

Thanks. It's okay. I'm .. i'm not going to say I'm content to wait, but I'm okay with it. (which totally doesn't mean that I'm not checking my status every few hours!) I'm pretty sure the only way the system is going to help me is if I just wait for it to get to me. My congressman was no help whatsoever and promised no additional help until January. I could ask Hilary to sic a minion on them, but I'm fairly sure that'd get me the same result. 'It's with an officer. you'll hear in a few weeks at least'

So I will wait. Just like waiting from visit to visit. One day at a time on the bad days, one week a time when things are going well. And Pete's gathered his documents that prove he's going to go home, and he'll be here in two weeks. We will get approved, one day or another.

If it goes a week or two out of six months then I'll reconsider my stance on waiting, but .. Byron was approved at like 181 days. Maybe I will be too.

I really thought it was bizarre that that's what I thought when I thought it though. Not, oh ####### what happened to my alarm, or oh no! where's the phone to call in and let them know I'd be there as soon as I could-- no. USCIS doesn't know I need my alarm Pete. My brain boggles sometimes.

I'm glad you FINALLY got yours- especially since you have so much time on the other side of the approval. (and hey at least we don't have the NVC wait times like CSC. Small favors right?!)

    I got an RFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't believe this ######!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How long does this delay things?????????????

  8. There is no activity today and I found this article on CNN today and found it rather amusing/ignorant. Any ideas from anyone else? Don't we live in America, the melting pot?!

    http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/12/04/navarrette/index.html

It is just another example of the small-minded Americans (not all of us). During the last election, politicians and the media used the gay marriage issue to distract us from the real problems going on in this country. This election they are using immigration. Unfortunately, the dumb ones will fall for it again.

You're dead on, Steph!!! ...Damn shame though  ...'Land of the Free' and some people are afraid to think for themselves

    Gill

It really is a shame. "Land of the Free" is a loose term nowadays. Don't get me wrong, we are still better off then many, but we are a far cry from what we were. What is forgotten is that we are all immigrants of some form or another. I am not sure why this political generation feel entitled to shut the country doors now. Who do they think they are? Not that I want to go on a rant here....

    :)

That was my point....everyone is technically an immigrant...these people should realize that!

Yes, but....these people in this small town in North Dakota were most likely all born there. They are not immigrants. Their ancestors were. And are they really racist? Maybe they just want to preserve their own local culture by deciding not to open businesses that will attract immigrant workers. It's their choice. And still a right......right? Don't get me wrong, I prefer a good blend of many cultures in my neighborhood. But not every American wants this. Otherwise those residents wouldn't be living in Bumf#@k, North Dakota. So, i dont think I can say that choice is racist. Judging someone by their skin tone, ethnic background, etc....That's racist. Unfortunately so many Americans are on high alert now, very cautious of "outsiders" or "new comers" or "immigrants". But can you really blame them? The hairless chimp in D.C. scares this nation into pre-judging. Its a shame. We've taken a step back. And that's not good. "we're a far cry from what we were"....well, do you remember the 50's and 60's?? Ask an older black American. No sir, we do not need to be what we were. We need education and security. This brings trust and open minds. Then eventually we get through this mess.

Yeah Jason I'd heard the same thing about K1s, you have to speak to a person.

If you happen to hear something...let me know (PM plz) and I'll call them myself later or tomorrow.

    Will do!!

I hear ya. What I meant by "...what we were" was referring more to not having to worry about my phone being tapped by that horse's ###. I completely hear what you are saying though.

There is quite a lot of ignorance in Navarette's article. I think the only way to stop illegal immigration is to put tarrifs on countries like China and India that use super-cheap labor, which would make american products with american labor more cost-competitive. To compete with the cost of Chinese goods, a lot of american countries are forced to use illegal immigrant labor.

If you don't want illegal immigrant labor, stop shopping at Walmart. The super budget stores are driving prices down to unreasonable levels.

Yup, I never and will never buy anything at Walmart.

  10. Congratulations everyone!

Faith, it's so good to see that you got your approval. :D

Steph, as others have said, yours is coming! Finally, they are doing some June petitions like they should!

This is all great news. :D

It'll be a week on Thursday since our NOA2.

When do you guys think I should try calling NVC to see if they have gotten (and/or sent?) our case?

Drew, I called today around 1pm. Opted to use only the automated system and was told that they have no record of my file. So, this means they haven't received it yet, or something. Perhaps after 6 I'll call again and speak to a real person and ask nicely. I would imagine that our files were sent together in the same shipment. don't know. But I'll be waiting nearby to see if you hear something interesting....

I would recommend speaking to a person. It also said mine hadn't been received yet at the NVC when I used the automated part....in reality, it was in transit to Sydney and it just hadn't been entered into the system yet. I called a few days later and they had said it was sent off about 2-3 days after they received my file.

I believe you/we will never have your info on the automated system due to some fluke of retardedness and that you HAVE to speak with a person. Don't bother with the automated thing; it's a waste of time as far as I know.

And yes, if it's been a week, call today! I'm going to call or email them tomorrow.

"...some fluke of retardedness". I like that.

  11. Congrats to all who have been approved!!!!

    AAHHHHHHHHH, I GOT A TOUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey you might get approved today or definitely by the end of the week - did you see Faith didn't get touched since June!!!!!! That's great news Steph!!!!!

Thank you thank you!! Yes, my spirits are definitely up today. Just in time for my birthday tomorrow. Hopefully I will hear something soon now.

It'll be a week on Thursday since our NOA2.

When do you guys think I should try calling NVC to see if they have gotten (and/or sent?) our case?

I would call. Usually it only takes a few days.

  12. There is no activity today and I found this article on CNN today and found it rather amusing/ignorant. Any ideas from anyone else? Don't we live in America, the melting pot?!

  13. This is getting ridiculous...I called USCIS again. They received the RFE info...seems some people get an answer asap...we haven't gotten so much as a touch. She told me to try back in 60 days. So, yeah, we do that and by the time we get an answer our petition is no good because we have surpassed the 90 days. Thinking I should cancel and just go through the K3...at least we would be married.

Hi Jamie. I am not sure I understand - what is the 90 day period you are referring to? What is its significance?

I am seriously considering cancelling as well. Might be time for me to move to England.

    Thanks.

Jamie, I just saw your other posting. I am sorry that things are not working out. This is tragic. No need to answer my questions.

I hope everything works out for you. Best wishes to you both.

Am I the only one still not approved???????? :help::help::crying::crying::crying::crying::help::help:

nope Steph I am still waiting with you....no touch nothing........I think I have no more tears..........

Oh I am so sorry. When will this torture end???????????????? I am really glad you made an appointment. Any time you can get in front of their faces is a good thing. You will get some answers.

  14. For those of you waiting....hang in there....let me share what Amr said this morning after our approval that hit me as being a bit deep. He didnt MEAN it to be..but as you will see...it REALLY relates to what we are going through as "waiters".........

Once Amr asked me why women have more than one baby, if the first one hurts sooooooooo much to have. I said that after the birth, the new mother can only focus on her new little one...and the love she has makes her forget all the pain she endured to bring that baby into this world. He still didnt understand.

This morning he said, Faith, this is so odd, so weird. He said...Im so happy that I dont remember the wait. I said THATS CHILDBIRTH!!! LOL. BUT...its deep what he said....we work so hard, sweat it out till we get that approval, agonize over it, cry over it, worry over it. Then when that blessed event of an approval happens...we soon forget the pain of the wait...an d focus on our love and the future. Just like that new mother. So keep in mind, this is like labor...delivery is about to happen...and soon...all will be forgotten....Keep your eyes ahead, not on your feet.

YES! THIS IS SO TRUE. I swear I cried every night until we got our NOA2, but after that I barely cried over that visa again! It's a fantastic feeling and enjoy it!! Just think...in about 8 weeks you guys might have your interview!

BUT...if you thought USCIS was bad, just wait till you start calling DOS. I would rather call VSC all day every day than deal with the DOS witches. A couple of them are nice but most of them are not. Best wishes to you!!!

You are all so wonderful. I know I am still waiting, but this touch made today's waiting game a little bit easier.

  15. Congrats to all who have been approved!!!!

    AAHHHHHHHHH, I GOT A TOUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Today is your day Steph! it has to be coming!

We're praying that you're going to get it soon, we've been watching your strife. Stay faithful.

    My best wishes,

    Vanessa.

Thank you so much!!! This movement, however small, will get me through the day. I was on my last thread.:dance:

  16. Well...no touches...nothing since Oct.....congressmans's office supposed to have called last week...we checked on Friday and they had not...we checked yesterday at lunch and they had not but said they would by days end....so same old story...no one to really help in this situation....I did talked to VSC last week and they said that since we are past 6 months that after 60 days from our last correspondence (Oct. 16) we could call back and they would check on it....by that I do not know what they would actually do....but that is 15 days away....Dec. 19.....:crying::whistle::crying::help: :help:

    Charlene,

Stay on top of that.....Dont let off that pressure...If that congressman hasn't called, contact your other state officials, the other congressman or your local state representative. You have waited WAY to long. You need someone to locate that file and MAKE SURE it gets worked...dont you stop till one of those officials makes that call and help. Remind them of their duties to the public as OUR representatives. Write more letters, every day if you ahve to and call every day if you have to to get attention. Dont give in to their ways...

    AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH, I GOT A TOUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  17. Steph and Ric....

We felt we were losing it at the end to...BUT that just means its soooooooooo close. It WILL come....what is hard is not knowing when to expect it. If your files are with an adjudicator its any day..the day you least expect it it will happen...

Once Amr asked me why women have more than one baby, if the first one hurts sooooooooo much to have. I said that after the birth, the new mother can only focus on her new little one...and the love she has makes her forget all the pain she endured to bring that baby into this world.
